  1. There are a lack of tanks because a lot of people only find it fun to pew-pew; the people who feel rewarded for keeping the entire raid alive (tanks and healers) are a lot fewer and farther in between.

    ^this :)

Bottom line, tanks aren't looking for big numbers, we're looking to be attention hogs! We want to pull every mob possible right up to our face, kick 'em in the nuts (provided they have any), and get them enraged enough that they only see the tank(s) and no one else. If your healers are on their game, they'll keep your *** alive, if not, just think of that as an extra challenge.

  2. 3. Reapply CC: Usually CC is broken because of AoE's. If your CC is off cooldown, reapply it.

My main role is a tank, but I am slowing going back to my Operative (full healer) just to break away form the tanking scene for a bit, and I am curious...on CCing for Ops, would be advisable, if you need to emergency CC an annoying mob, to slip into stealth via "cloaking screen" and use sleep dart? Is that even possible?

  3. This is horrible tbh, as Kitru said, we as tanks have to place our trust to others so we can survive and yet if THE TANK fails (for a reason or the other) the whole group dies.

This is very true, but, OTOH, we as tanks need to be responsible for our own *supplemental* survival skills in the form of defensive CDs, stims, adrens, etc. I have no problem trusting my team, but at the same time, I want to be able to ease the burden by maximizing my own defenses in a timely fashion. But again, one of the many challenges tanks have that can make the class quite fun...

    ...if you're a glutton for punishment ;)

  4. Thank you for your replies guys! I've decided to give tanking a try. :)

Awesome :) I've been a long time tank in various MMOs, and the tanking community (especially here) is a very helpful group indeed because we know how tough it can be at times, especially when you are essentially deemed the "leader of the pack". But, as another tank pointed out, it's not as difficult as many ppl make it out to be. The first thing to note, as with any class, is to learn to play your class to the point where you are comfortable with rotations for various situations. Honestly, the rotations don't change much for tanks so once you have those down then you are gold :)

Next, is learn the FPs/Ops basic boss fights, because this is probably the most difficult (IMO) when tanking, but there are a ton of resources for boss mechanics/strats. You may even come up with your own tried & true strategies! Otherwise, the rest is simply overall field experience. You read up on all the guides you want, but nothing beats being dropped in the fray and learning through blood, sweat & tears :D

Overall, have fun as a tank because it really is a great role!

  5. Because last time, you ate all the cookies and we had to break out the hidden stash of Churros

Pfft, you're too far North to know what churros are...

    ;)

In any case, as you can see folks, we do like to joke quite a bit here at Mosaic/Dark Mosaic, and it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. Of course we point and laugh at that person first, and then immediately help them find a new eye! Hey, we are a compassionate bunch!

If you are looking for a guild who simply likes to have fun in a casual environment, please stop by our site and say hello, or ask away here!

  6. Happy New Year folks!

Mosaic (Republic) and Dark Mosaic (Empire) are currently recruiting for all roles! With a new year, comes new events and grouping for various levels of players. Are you new to the game? We're here to help! Are you a founder, jumping back into TOR after some time off? Join us and assist those who need guidance!

We are a guild of no-nonsense Star Wars & gaming fans who enjoy the immersion that SWTOR provides and hope to share the enjoyment with others as the game continues on (hopefully) over the many years. 7. Once you get Kolto Probe (the HoT that can grant TA) and Surgical Probe (the insta-cast that requires a TA but refreshes that TA if you heal someone under 30% health) you will start to be able to feel a lot better about your healer. Those are really some of the main healing abilities and you dont get them until further into your skill tree, but once you get there you can be a huge force to rekon with in both PvE and PvP.

I was definitely wondering the same thing about my Med Op, so thanks for the insight. I'm also at 22 currently and it just seemed that, under duress, the heals were not as sufficient as their counterparts at this level.

  8. Sad thing is (or maybe not so sad...), I rolled a healer because of the fact that, since f2p, there has been a huge lack of them. While I'm leveling (currently lvl 31 Sage), I just broadcast "healer lfg for [insert quest here]" and typically the pure DPS classes come-a-runnin'. DPSers have then place, but they don't always make a healers job any easier when they are not geared like a tank and can mitigate damage.
  9. Hey guys. I'm pretty much commenting as someone outside looking in. My toons are currently on Jedi Covenant, which is one of the highest population servers, and trust me, high population does not mean quality population. Since F2P, I feel gen chat is even turning into frakkin Barren's chat from WoW long ago >.> If anything, those of you who love Jung Ma should love it for the mere reason that its not full of bratty noobs who QQ about everything and need to get their rocks off on Gen chat by putting down everyone. /endrant

That being said, I think you guys have an awesome community and if that's not what an MMO should be like than idk wth should be!

  10. Hey all, great feedback regarding the server pop, however how is the GTN stock in relation to the server pop? I am thinking of rolling a healer on Jung-Ma as I do enjoy the RP aspect, however I also frequent the GTN to keep up on the latest gear, sell mats, etc. Would I be able to find lower level items on the GTN as I level? Would I have much luck selling gathered mats?
  11. I didn't come across any suggestions like this while searching, but it doesn't mean they aren't already there ;)

In anycase, it would be great to have the option to save a build and pull from it during respec time (skill mentor, or the field respec thingy you can purchase with CCs). Essentially, it would allow for quicker respec (i.e. Seer to Tele for Sages) without having to remember which skills you used in your previous build or having to look up a reference for the correct build. Just simply click on a preset build "My DPS Build" "My Healer build", and boom you're done.

  13. And you completely miss the point.

LOL. Yeah, I can't see how that missed either.

But, to your point, I've wondered the same thing. Your agent runs around with a blaster rifle and never has the ability to use a pistol, yet every single cut scene he's either got a blaster pistol holstered on his leg or shoving it in someone's face.

Eh well, BW never said they had to make sense of things >.>

  14. if you younglings are on the Jedi Covenant and spot a toon in the Kipplar legacy, feel free to message them (ie. me). i'll be more than happy to answer any questions you might have to the best of my ability.

Jedi Convenant represent! ;) Yep, I'll be sportin' my Founders tag as well and throwing bubbles on all the younglings I can just because ;)

    Great thread btw Quirch!

  15. I'm an Operative Healer. I've PUGed a couple of groups before and haven't had much trouble with the others in the group but for a couple of times. And for the most part I have run into the same trouble as most everyone else with them not self-healing after a fight, but so far I've been able to keep them alive each time and even been complimented for keeping them alive even though they just pushed through the FP.

^This. Sometimes it better to just /shrug and continue to do your job, even if your group mates are making it harder on you >.>

Of course on those days where a healer's tolerance threshold is not as high, that's when they all learn the hard way

  16. Sounds like a plan. I'm in the same boat, took some time off, and came back to the server merge. I have an Op healer on Jedi Covenant right now, but I would like to roll a Sage on PoT5 since I'm a glutton for punishment ;)

That being said, I wouldn't mind running some FPs/Heroics with ya if you want sometime soon.

  17. I like my Sorc's bubble, knockback, sprint, etc.

I think you just answered your own question, mate ;) Go with what you enjoy playing and makes playing a support role more interesting. At the end of the day, you're the one who cares the most about the class you're spending your time leveling and gearing.
