  1. I hate it when American companies use seasons as timeframes. Early summer for northern hemisphere equates to early winter in the southern hemisphere right? Wrong, for us winter officially starts on the first of June so your early summer roughly equates to our mid-winter. It is much easier when they talk in more standard untis of time as it reduces confusion.
  2. The idea of a mass merge is very good and it will help for those who are most affected by the low populations on the majority of servers. It would provide a significant boost for retention for a short period of time, 2-3 months is my guess.

Unfortunately there are other issues that also need to be addressed urgently after any such mega merge. You just need to read some of the "tell us a few things" threads. As someone playing (on my final week of free time) on a busy server LFG is still an issue, The end game content is not sufficient to keep casual players interested for very long, Playing a couple of alts through the same content is not much fun. The exodus is not restricted to the low population servers. it is just more noticable as each loss has a greater impact on the community.

I think the key word is community as that just doesn't seem to be occurring in this essentialy solo online game.

A merge also will not fix the trade network much as there is little to craft that any level 50 needs to buy due to FPs, Dailies and Operations rewards.

  3. The problem isn't simply being able to server transfer. Until they work out and address the reason people are leaving the decline will continue even on the new mega servers.

There is simply an issue in keeping people intersted.

Talking with my brother and his friends the common element is that after hitting level 50 none of us have bothered playing that character for more than a week after the level 50 ding. The repetition of daily quests and the struggle to get a group for flashpoints as DPS is what makes the game dissapointing. And we all play on populated servers.

  4. Recently unsubscribed - due to expire in June.

    1. Solo Game Feel - I enjoyed the questing the first time through though I was rather disappointed with the finale for the sniper. Especially as I helped a friend with a sith sorc. immediately after. The whole game seemed to be a struggle to get others to form a group to complete more than one or two quests, apart from the daily quest run .Even when I had a guild it was a struggle to get a full team. I think I managed to get one FP with a guild group. The guild is virtually gone now with everyone moving on to another game.

    2. Crew - Crafting seemed so easy but there just isn't a market to actually sell much. There is rarely a need to buy anything before hitting 50 and then the quests generate better gear. It was also frustrating not to be able to name your crew and every member of your class had exactly the same set of crew.

    3. Dispersed Population - There are too many small planets with individual zones. I only ever played on high population servers but even at the busy times there just didn't seem to be many people around except at the fleet. Even more frustrating is sitting in fleet with over 200 people and still not able to form a FP group - LF Tank!!!!!! anyone?

    4. Lack of Leveling Diversity - There are essentially two sets of quests to complete to get to level 50 with a smattering of class quests. I did not enjoy the ship combat experience and have absoolutely no desire to engage in PvP. For me questing in a group is what an MMO is about. The trip to 50 was too easy and too quick. I felt there should have been at least twice as many quests needed to be completed to reach 50.

    5. Potential - I see the game having the potential to bring me back every now and then for a single month subscription to play on the alts. At the moment though it isn't likely to occur until November or December. I don't see it having a great deal of potential as an MMO although the LFG function may help a bit.

  5. For me SWTOR feels like a solo game with a small amount of MMO interaction. Having leisurely got one character to 50 and run many alts to to 20/30s I have decided to try something else. My brother has also reached the same point and both of us have unsubscribed. Will we come back? Possibly but it is unlikely it will be for anything more than short bursts.

The dispersed population across multiple planets is one of the biggest factors that hurts the game for me. I almost wish there were two or three planets that we were all playing on so there were more opportunities to interact.

After less than 6 months I have seen a thriving guild get down to about 5 active players and even those starting to complain that the fun factor has faded.

  6. I am starting to find the party size of 4 a bit frustrating. It would have been nice at 5 or 6. I know it is convenient for most of the content but it is just so limiting for social players. The quests state Heroic 4+ but most of the time that just means get at lest a healer tank and a DPS. Is there scope for more content in the futue for larger group structures - not raid type content?
