I had this same problem today. I discovered that there's a problem with area loot and this quest. so, to finish the quest:
1. reset the quest, make sure there's no compass in your mission items inventory
2. turn off area loot from preferences
3. go back, kill a sand people guide and loot his compass, it should progress the quest normally.
Hope that helps!

at the end of the day though, pvp'rs are the superior players.

I don't see a problem with it. I don't spam, but those I do see advertising in chat are offering upwards of 1 million credits for a click, and they generally tell people what it is.

I think its officially now "tomorrow morning"....

Oh great Lord Ptach, thank you for your bounteous provision, may the performance pass bring order to the chaos and relieve the woes of those who toil under the yoke of low fps.
Amen.
Praise be to the great and generous Lord Ptach!

I went dark side, and whenever Mako complained I told her to shut up and take expensive gifts

because PT is faster and more mobile. If something gets up in your grill, so to speak, you don't have to get it out before you can use a big hit, because that's exactly where you want them. Right up close and personal.
I do like that powertech is more melee range, but to the defense of the merc, while arsenal spec is definitely less mobile, pyrotech has little issues with mobility, they seem to have a greater focus on instant casts.
I love sitting in the back blowing the hell out of everything with missles on my arsenal merc

Both advanced classes of the bounty hunter are viable and competitive. Powertech gives you the option of solid dps or tanking, and mercenary gives you solid dps again, and healing.
End-game options for solo pve are quite limited mind you, you're going to be mostly restricted to dailies. Group pve is where its at, and is the most fun in my opinion.
I found solo-pve with a tank spec a little difficult, as a healing companion has difficulty keeping up. But of course, you have equal dps specs on both sides, so it really doesn't matter.
