  1. These are the insights and answers I was looking for. Thanks guys, I will stay as a sage, its a story I haven't actually done yet.

edit: Yes, all of my 55's are on Star Forge now. I'm just a lowbie on Tython now. Thought relearning the game would be easiest by starting over.

  2. How is it these days? I haven't played in 5-6 years, rather then start with one of my 55's I'm starting a new Jedi Sage with the intent of doing pvp healing.

Are things reasonably balanced for healing these days? I mean for a long time, it'll just be warzone leveling (unless that sucks now?)

  3. In-game I've seen the opposite lately on Harbinger. Just joined a new guild that's 400+ members and keeps growing with new subs. I know because last night I was answering noob questions for over an hour with a huge pile of folks :D

I can only speak for POT5, a "PvP" server, but it's population level has gone down the toilet the past six weeks.

I certainly can't speak for other servers, especially carebear ones. Although let's be honest - if the game were healthy, or even growing, this wouldn't be happening. You can - of course- make a situational argument that "your server" is growing in population (and it could be) but overall? The game's in the tank again.

They've already blew their F2P wad...they are already talking about making normal warzones unlimited for F2P as well...again, another drastic step to stem the tide of unsubs...it is what it is. I wish it wasn't this way. I'm basically MMOless now. FFXIV is OK, Tera is OK, but nothing is actually fun compared to when THIS mmo was much less terrible.

  4. So did you think that was gameplay footage or something?

Not the footage itself. What was IN the footage. How you felt how each class was going to be 'so awesome'. How you thought gameplay would be so balanced and fun, etc etc. How Bioware was going to actually 'do it right' because they had such a stellar track record...

  5. If its bastion and Pot5 then it is probably backlash from the server transfers and the cancellation of rateds. People transferred to those servers because they were being touted as the promised land of PvP.

and they were. PvP was amazing on Pot5 the month or two after transfers. Then Bioware began being Bioware again.

See, problem is, bioware's been killing actual PvP for months now, and the ending of 8 man rated TEAM play sucked the wind out of many guilds.

The reality is, PvP is basically dying in this game, and Bioware with the cancellation of 8 man rateds and only one new warzone in over a year has basically said "yep, we're just going to cater to pve going forward. have fun elsewhere."

Bioware is just sticking with what they do best - PvE.

    Broke

you do realize if you do all of your dailies you can earn up to 300K a day right?

    Dailies = PvE

With all of the money easily gained from PvE dailies, there's exactly zero reason warzones shouldn't pay at least double of what they do.

Except Bioware couldn't give a crap for PvPers. Which is why people are unsubbing PvP side in droves.

  6. It's because the game is dying again. I hop on Pot5 at 9-10pm local server time, the past two nights and standard population. Bioware has screwed up PvP since 2.0 so badly...not even their (sure to be poor implementation of) arenas is going to rescue them, long term.

Poor decision after poor decision. Before you know it, they're going to need to merge servers from 9 down to 5 honestly.

Well done Bioware/EA, bleeding this once awesome game dry update by update

  7. The answer is simple: Because they can't sell the class advancement stories on the cartel market.

This company and it's 'parents' are only about one thing - money. That's why the cartel market sees 3 times more updates then the game itself. It's all about greasing the palms of EA at this point, and has been this way for quite some time. This should've been painfully evident as 2.0 brought zero individual class story advancement yet folks had to pay 10-20 bucks for it.

  8. Actually come to think of it, the reason they are pushing the cooldown up so much is specifically so it doesn't increase dps. Snipers are already the highest parsing class, giving them more dps would be rediculus particularly when they just told the second lowest parsing class, that their low dps are just "perception problems"

    In PvP, Marauders disagree.

  9. I smell a sniper/gunslinger trying to defend his class from a nerf!

No worries bro your class will never get nerfed in anyway what so ever. Uncle Austin's got your back!

Snipers requirement to remain stationary is, for good players, all the nerf they need for the most part.

Snipers are in a good place, but hardly OP. Anyone can get to us within a standard warzone most of the time (and all of the time, if they are stealth), cover pulse is a 60 sec CD. If you are a stealther and you get caught by my stealth detection, you are bad at stealth. period.

If you want to talk about single duels with all CD's available, well then sure, perhaps different story...but as far as actual group combat goes...sniper's strong for sure, and unfortunately not every AC is similarly well balanced.

Lack of actual in combat mobility is quite the nerf, unless your leth/dirty fighting...and if this is you, your value in arenas is likely going to force you to change to MM or Sab/engineer.

Engineer isn't terrible though. BW said it was 'clunky' and it is. Engineer serves a purpose - defensive and AOE pressure. It does fine.

  10. Snipers are strong but they aren't OP. A Sniper has to pick his spec wisely for group PvP. Does he want to be Single Target burst but be highly mitigated by defensive cooldowns and very vulnerable to LOS, or does he want to be AOE DoT damage which puts on a lot of AoE pressure but their burst will be highly mitigated by Cleanse and their team will never be able to use long duration soft CC's like Awe.

Smash is a problem because it's good in every group PvP situation. It's AOE, it's burst, it's instant, and there are no drawbacks to smash like having to DoT up multiple targets making them immune to soft CC.

to me as a long time sniper and before that, sorc... sniper's biggest problem is that nothing of their really sucks. All three specs are useful. Even marauders/sents don't have that (lol anni). It's hard to balance everything to sniper however, as it's a single role advanced class. Although in a perfect world, most every advanced class would feel useful in at least two of their three specs, if not all three.

Sniper's curse is that it's not bad in any way, whereas there is bad in most other adv types and the latter needs to change. Only thing that's OP offhand with snipers is wallbanging...and the fact devs support it is probably more because they are too unskilled to actually 'fix' it. So as usual, they break out the L2P line.
