  1. It seems to me that after Christmas, not many people have been on any server. Like certain servers have a STANDARD population at the peak hours when everyone is on. I am almost glad that not all the servers are over crowded becase then you dont have to wait 2 hours to login. We need to remember that alot of people have work and can't play so every sever does have plenty of players using that server, but not all of them are always on. Maybe since it takes forever to get a PVP match going for servers with low population they will put in a new Warzone that is meant for smaller servers. There are still plenty of people playing WOW still, so give it a few more months and we may have some more players on the servers.

I'm definitely one of the casual players, I have noticed that there are less light servers so it does seem there is a slight increase in subs.

  2. No need for server merges. Bioware told us the number of subscribers is increasing and if we remember correctly all the servers were full around christmas. So if anything bioware needs to increase the number of servers by 2-3 the amount and offer free transfers from old servers to the new ones. We don't want hour long ques and thousands of people on the fleets.

unless ofc bioware was trolling us.

There are less light servers now than before, that is definitely a good thing and an increase.

  3. I don't understand why people are saying this goes against lore. This is an mmoRPG afterall. Create your own lore and story. You're acting like these particular races have no free will. That's like saying "oooo gosh goodness gee little jimmy, you were born a sith pureblood, looks like the only weapon you may ever use in your life is a lightsaber. Better start practicing because there is no way in hell you're going to ever know how to pick up a gun." Saying that chiss and sith pure blood can't join up with the republic makes you a racist....just sayin...

LMAO, gun ban for sith true bloods.

  4. Well even a Sith would not kill someone without a reason. They are just punishing weaks, killing if they get offended and when in danger.

No humans would be left on earth if everyone killed someone for being offended. That's why the Sith always have so many problems, they take offense too easily.

  5. Actually it won't. Its all down hill from here on because you only get one chance to make a first impression and this game left a sour taste in a whole lot of peoples mouths. This game lost 60-80% of its 1.5 million boxes sold in the first 3 weeks. In 6 months you will have less than 200k playing this game and it will be hemorrhaging so badly in the subsequent months no one will bother to touch it. This game will not survive like swg did because swg did not cost 300+ million to make. It cost 15 million to make and Sony recouped that money and a whole lot more just off box sales selling over 1 million units. Both Star Wars mmo's are suffering a very similar path. High initial box sales and very low retention. I was actually way more addicted to swg than I ever will be this game.

Nothing will save this game. Its flawed from the top down and will be considered niche in a few months. GW2, diablo 3, torch light 2, and a plethora of upcoming games will ensure this game does not recover.

You sure do have a talent to pull numbers out of your ***. 60-80% gone in 3 weeks, yet at 10PM EST there were 25 heavy, 2 very heavy and one full. More like they got a lot of new subs to replace all the hardcore players that don't have lives and eat mmos like kids eat mcdonalds. Sounds like SWTOR is extremely healthy on a monday late night. These plethora of games you mention will crash and burn just like your beloved SWG did. Sounds like your very angry and bitter about SWG.

  6. I couldnt stand MMOs in the past. Some people have lives, and why should their sub money be worth less then those who dont and can spend hours in a online game? Thats the reality of it, no one in there right mind wants to come home from work and put on the MMO hat and goto work yet again Theres no fun in working two jobs while the other (MMOs) You pay them for the honor of working. Yeah right.

The real problem is the hardcore folks are realizing ever more no one cares about them, and no company is really going to risk alot of money in trying to recreate the days of Everquest where only basement dwellers where playing games, and probably wearing poofy Wizard hats while doing it. I've been playing since head start and my oldest char is only 42, and my alts are both 20-30.

That seems to be the ideal person for MMO designers to cater to. Why bother trying to keep up with the hardcore types who will blow through the game easily and demand new content every week when existing content will last a casual for over a year?

In the end this is Sociology at work here. Hardcore types make online games their life so they demand more challenge so they can extract their reward from overcoming hard work, where as people who have a rich full life off the MMOs get enough of that in their everyday life and thus dont need a video game to validate them.

Agree, the hardcore players eat up MMO's like kids eat Mcdonalds, then get mad when they've done all the content. If they want a MMO that puts out new content faster than they can finish it they should design a game like that, but all they want to do is play MMOs so that will never happen.

  7. I'm definitely a casual player and still haven't hit 50, hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks. Only time I have to play really is on weekends weekdays maybe an hour or two a day. I haven't even scratched the surface of this game yet so many have more than 1 50 already, how people get so much time to play is beyond me wish I could play this game as much.

Your post doesn't really apply to me, in fact by the time I hit 50 and actually get to do anything worth while there, and roll a new alt they'll have a ton of new content. This game really does cater to the casual player which for me is a god send.

  8. The trouble is, BioWare took NO successful features from WoW.. which, in theory, is fine.. but they brought nothing new or anything of their own to the table. That's what's disturbing.

I thought you were talking about every server being standard and light, 10PM EST 25 were heavy, 2 very heavy and one full, quite good for a monday night, not quite what you describe.

  9. I still don't have a lvl 50 yet. I work 50-60+ hours a week and only get to really play on the weekends. Playing any game non-stop all the time will tend to burn some folks out for sure, like that one guy said moderation. I have no choice but to play this game in moderation and I love every second I get to play.

What I'd really like to see is swoop bike racing, while very simple in KOTOR for some reason it was a lot of fun. Maybe even city racing in one of they flying vehicles would be a lot of fun too, a lot of different things they can add in this game over time to really differentiate from other MMOs.

  10. I didnt mean conversation decisions. Im talking actual game play decisions devs have made like an example, not being able to train new lightsaber styles, ie if a Guardian wanted to use Dual Blades, or not being able to see someone elses ship until you have your own. Those are some of the gripes i have heard but there are more, like silly respawn timers on things which serve no purpose other then annoying players or how hard it is to get a group with the devs refusing to add in better grouping tools Etc.

When a Jedi chose what path they are taking that's pretty much it, if they want dual blade they need to go with marauder, single blade Jugg. Guradian with dual blade would be ridiculously OP making marauders pretty much obsolete.

I haven't had any real issues grouping for anything, but I only get to play 1-2 hours on the weekdays and the weekends I can put in some actual time so 0 issues then finding groups. But to each his own, I simply keep questing or doing something else until I find a group which never takes very long. LFG cross servers though, well never had good experiences with that, dealt with way too many ********, LFG in server though or a better one wouldn't be against.

  11. I noticed this too, and while some people are deep in denial, and dont want to admit anything.. I noticed this started AFTER the free month was up, like the day after subscriptions kicked in. Im not insinuating anything or speculating on what is the cause, but I think it speaks for itself why all the servers where heavy/full prior to paid subscriptions kicking in and almost the next day they are all standard and light.

For those who dont want to see what this means, denial is fun, stick with it, who am I to tell anyone not to enjoy their fantasy worlds.

I will share a anecdote however, I came here with a few friends and only 2 stayed, the rest while they enjoyed the story just couldn't get into the gameplay decisions. Good Riddance some might say? You wont be saying that when EA or Lucas start taking drastic measures to get more players.

I can't understand why anyone wouldn't like decision making in an MMORPG, what is an RPG without any decision making? That for me would be very boring. Sounds like they enjoy action MMO's more than the RPG aspect. It changes the story line, my DS JK story is really shaping up to be very interesting and some of the lines by my companions are hilarious during them and very well delivered. Well to each his own.

2 servers are full right now with queues which is quite surprising, many heavy rest standard and light. I do agree that they have too many servers now and it would be a good idea to merge a few. Wish I had as much time to play as a lot of these other folks, I barely get in 2 hours on a weekday if I'm lucky, only time I can really play are the weekends. Of course it's 1130PM at night right now, and anyone that has a life or responsibility isn't going to be on for too long at this time of night. This weekend will really tell how the servers are doing and how many need to be merged and I don't think too many will.

With that being said of course some people dropped off, they certainly needed this many servers when the game launched especially during the holidays or ppl would have been pissed waiting incessantly to play. I bet that the majority of ppl that left were ppl who hit 50 in a few days or a couple weeks and had nothing to do. Now they'll go and rinse and repeat with another MMO trying to be the fastest to cap lvl, as if that means anything whatsoever. Regardless this game has a long life ahead of itself, the rapidity and speed at which they are patching and releasing new content has me quite pleased. Still haven't hit 50 yet but I will eventually. This game caters perfectly for the casual player like me, folks who play 24/7, well who wouldn't get bored playing any game that much?

  12. Definitely noticed a drop in players in all areas.

Don't think they will merge servers, it is a major sign of weakness.

Then again, if they don't those on empty servers will feel compelled to leave.

I disagree, it happens in any MMO, give it another month, merging servers isn't a bad thing it's a good thing, then when more ppl sub to the game create more servers. This game will have a long life. There are always balance issues and with all the history they have of other MMO's it will be much easier to manage looking back.

  13. I'm pretty sure they increased the pop for the servers and when I've rolled new characters I see that there are a ton of people on the early planets. I can't imagine that all of them are newly rolled characters but perhaps a lot of new ppl who bought the game. I've even asked in chat and a lot said they are new, which is great.

As for servers that are consistently low in pop it would be a good idea to merge the lower pop ones quickly so that there are more folks to hang out with and people don't roll on higher pop servers creating even more of an imbalance.

I had a lot more time during the holidays to play the game, I miss those days, now that I'm back to work I play only a fraction of what I could then but still loving the game and it's my new home for a long time.

  14. It was pointless. Just like arbitrarily deciding servers are empty by looking off peak times in an mmo that is barely out of its first month-which echos the many this is broken I quit/game is dying threads.

Games like wow may be able to claim they have 8 million subs, but in the course of the games life, many, many, more than that many people have bought and quit the game.

I apologize for my lack of point but after a boring day at work of reading endless 'the sky is falling threads' I felt like releasing my frustration with a little sarcasm.

The sky is not falling...yet. And hopefully it wont.

Ah, I was trying to figure out if it was sarcasm or not, ya no worries here mate, the sky certainly isn't falling, in fact I made a new character recently and was very surprised at the number of peeps on the first planets and didn't see any complaints about anything, more people enjoying the heck out of this game. That's what the majority of people are doing, enjoying the game.
