  1. Hey folks,

As some of you have already guessed, we made this change to address exploitive behavior. Players were able to create new characters, and with some craftiness, fairly quickly and repeatedly acquire the Credit Booms from the Encrypted Data Cubes.

Hope that explains the decision. Thanks!

    -eric

How many patches will we have to wait for you to drop the quality level of data cubes down from epic to rare? Data cubes shouldn't have been a part of the rarest list to begin with.

  2. I have run Parses playing with groups.

A full DPS build Juggernaut, at level 50. Does almost 3/5ths the damage of a Marauder with full DPS spec.

Found the same results with Assassin vs Sorc. BUT, the Sorc was nearly equal, only 7/8's weaker.

In Vanguard vs Commando, Vanguard does 2/5ths less DPS than Commando.

If done full tank on Vanguard, then it's only half of Commandos DPS.

When you live in your own personal la la land reality can be a serious pain....

  3. Selios - Learn to READ and understand the conversation before you try to smack my hand... let me point out my "My first" coment specifically:

First I agree might be some sort of level 50 error prevents him from using the set bonus gear OR the fact they might have a script that checks <50 armor then no set bonus = instant kill set bonus on shell.

I'm not on the game right now and this in depth information is NOT in google. Yes, a level 50 SHELL can't be used by a level 10 and the level 50 Armor/Mod/Enh can't be used by a level 10. That's NOT the question. The question was putting a LEVEL 10 ARMOR into that shell and removing it with the SET BONUS intact. NOTHING preventing that from happening on a level 50 toon's gear w/lower armor and removing it, BUT I'm not sure about the Set Bonus being copied to that item (I think the answer is YES it will, but can't confirm until TUESDAY live as I'm trying it out). My level 50 can go put a level 10 armor in tionese gear today and pull it back out and move to my level 10 toon (I would use legacy gear to shuffle over to a 10 who could add/remove) for my level 10 toon.

Update: Note this would be a ONE TIME only type event as the migration to 2.0 is when the conversion happens and it will not be possible in the future to do the same thing. Not sure if the migration hits on day 1 for Pre-Order release or what, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be Tuesday 9th it happens and everyone else is "Pending" access to Makeb until the 15th date.

Your lack of critical thinking skills doesn't affect my ability to read. There is no depth to what you're saying. I get it, YOU have not PERSONALLY seen that it's not possible. Add in the lack of critcal thinking skills and you are not able to take human nature, creativity, the time 2.0 was on the pts and form a logical thought process. The very next post after the one I'm quoting has you hoping this is going to happen and that's all this boils down to, you hope.

  4. That is an excellent question!

No, that's a terrible question. "requires level 50" is on the shell, "requires level 50" is on the armoring/mod/enhancement.

There is absolutely no reason, whatsoever, to reinforce people who can't take the time to seek out easily obtainable information. That goes for the person you quoted, in-game? ask for a link in chat, not in game? google. And as for you, you took an idea that is unpossible, ran with it, and came up with a whole paragraph of never gonna happen.

    Think first.

  5.

1.) There will be a glut of level 50s who will be able to out farm me and my alts for resources on lower level worlds since they will be invulnerable at the lower levels. They will have to grind their skills up.

2.) Equipment prices for 50 gear will skyrocket due to demand. While I have a decent amount of credits, I am not rich in this game.

3.) There will be a huge influx of players on the level 50 FPs that will not have figured out how their toons work. I am not saying that I am an elite player but having someone who powerleveled a tank or healer try to learn their rotations/skills in a 50 hard mode isn't going to end well.

4.) Related to #2 - Inflation from the influx of 50's being able to grind all dailies and have larger credit pools to spend.

FuulishOne hit most of the points but it's early and I can't help myself.

1 and 3...Using the official game metrics given to you by Bioware, how many of the players in this "glut" of 50's are new players and how many are alts you were already in competition with for resources? How many of this "glut" in FP's are new and how many are alts that know the fights? What caused the new players to not learn the basics while leveling in an Ops group? Cause an Ops group is just like a FP group only more people in the group.

2 and 4...How did players first acquire lvl 50 gear? Did the gear fairy pass it out or did players have to do the FP's and Ops to get the gear? Does the gear fairy still pass out gear or do players have to do FP's and Ops in order to get gear if they can't/don't buy it? If a player doesn't have the credits to buy Op's armorings/mods/etc what are they going to have to do to get the gear? How much at the current prices, prices that btw have dropped by almost half since the xpac is just around the corner, does and FULL set of BiS armorings/mods/enhancements/barrels cost? How long, hours in a day/days in a week/weeks in a month/etc, would a player have to run dailies to acquire that many credits? Feel free to add in up to 11 alts. Also feel free to add in the time to gear the alts too. If players are spending credits from dailies on gear they could get in Ops and it's a MASSIVE "glut" of 50's doing this, is it inflation or is it supply and demand at work?

  6. When did I say anything about leveling a toon like this? I refuse to boost or exploit game mechanics in any game I play. As a matter of fact it saddens me that more game companys don't crack down on behavours like this.

You mentioned "legacy orb strike time til this event is over." I made an assumption that you were talking about new players, silly me, my bad. People that have legacy and still suck....more than likely can't be helped. I'm not talking about tweaking a rotation, I'm talking about the kind of stuff that gets people to quit groups like you mentioned earlier.

Anyhoo, I'm going to agree to disagree. This is nowhere near the level of a credit/item dupe. The purpose of the weekend, and the next 3, count them 1, 2, 3 weekends is to level characters quicker than normal. You have always been able to go to Ilum and get bolstered on the pvp side. You could level faster when the gree event was active last time, the only difference is it would have taken 20 hours instead of 10. Just because you didn't know about it doesn't mean it wasn't happening.

Parting thoughts, how many weeks was the gree event around last time? How much of a negative impact did those weeks have on YOU specifically. As in, how many more groups did you have to quit because people were being extra stupid? How many more terrible players did you encounter out in the game world compared to the weeks previous?

I know the answer to those questions, so do you, and the answers to those questions are why this is NOWHERE near as big of a deal as you want it to be.

  7. Yes, opinions are not facts but I don't think anyone was questioning that.

So you hope for rollbacks you know aren't going to happen because other players are terrible, but you're going to level your own characters the same way?

Do you now see what I'm questioning and why I brought opinions into it?

  8. I'd hope next weekend bioware makes it so you can't do this, its not cheating or exploiting but it is boosting. The main problem with this is people are hitting 50 and not knowing how to play their class. I would say a great portion of players already don't know how to play their class however there is enough that do know how to play to balance out warzones and FP's. With that being said I am going to say the next couple weeks of pvp and group finder ques are going to just be terrible to the point where you will just end up stop doing them.

This not only affects subsribers in a very negitive way but also the free to play guys as well.

I'd love to see bioware do some rollbacks here, I know its not going to happen so I guess its lagacy orb strike time till this event is over.

This is your opinion. You have stated 0 100% facts. The only thing you have stated is possibilities.

The flip side of the possibilities is that since the player leveled entirely in an ops group they are now the greatest raider/grouper ever to have played a video game.

Edit: and since they are the greatest they have a positive impact on the playerbase.

  9. It does if they are using a way to travel there through a priority transport at a lower level than you can normally get to the black hole or ilum.

You are WAY too hung up on this "getting there early" thing. Is it early? Yes. How early? 3 maybe 4 hours without help. With help? Hour'ish.

Edit: and I forgot you can hitch a ride on someone else's ship.

  10. If they are using an way to get to Ilum (the blackhole quick travel on legacy) when you normally can't get to black hole or ilum until 45 or 50 then they are basically using an exploit and if that is the case, that is wrong.

You can get to ANYWHERE once you have your ship. You can get your ship early if you have someone help you with story quests.

  11. But, without double XP, wouldn't you still be getting XP fast enough that people would do this any time the event runs (double XP or no)? If people are getting to 50 in 10 hours now, doesn't that mean they could have gotten to 50 in 20 hours with normal XP?

Either way, it seems certain this will be nerfed as an exploit in short order. All they have to to shut it down is make the bolster affect only people who are level 45+. They'll probably put a level lock on the Black Hole priority transport thing as well, just for good measure. I'm sure they don't care about people 45+ power leveling on event mobs to 50, but they're not going to leave this working for level 1s.

So the lvl 1's level to 16, get their ship then fly to Ilum. What is the purpose of the planet? What did bioware add to half the planet to facilitate the purpose of the planet? Hint: it is the same thing you get buffed with in warzones. What is the purpose of the planet again? Which side of the planet is the gree event located on? Which came first, the purpose of the planet or the gree event?

  12. No. You don't get it and I guess you never will. This isn't about 2x xp weekend although that certainly helps. From what I heard, until the gree even apparently, the fastest anyone was able to level 1-50 was a little over 50 hours.

How does this affect YOU in a DIRECT NEGATIVE way? Not how you feel, actually gameplay.

This isn't a credit dupe, this isn't an item dupe. The intent of the double xp weekend was to increase leveling speed. The gree event will be around for 2 out of the 4 double xp weekends.

IMO it's 75/25 that bioware either didn't realize this was going to be an option or they did and didn't care/couldn't figure a way to stop it so they just let it slide cause ya know it's only two weekends and people leveling quickly is kinda the point.

  13. Why do people keep introducing different scenarios? I'm talking about the scenario with the meglo-maniac, undewhelming tank + everyone else is normal- scenario.

It's becoming cliche to blame dps and make heals and tanks the martyrs.

Haven't we all played every role already? What's with the bias?

Keeping with your original scenario, did you say anything about why you were pulling first, did you tell the group that doing so would be beneficial to the group? Or did you pull first and explain after the tank got cranky?

  14. I just ran into this myself on my level 28 sorc... Already purchased the regular speeder piloting at level 25 awhile ago, got her up to 30 today, but can't but the rank 2 improved speeder piloting because I didn't buy rank 1. This is stupid, I already spent the credits on piloting 1 the normal way, why do I need to cough up an extra 40,000 credits for no benefit whatsoever?

Please tell me this is an oversight it isn't and not intentional it is, because it really doesn't make any sense you would think so but the "*** are the devs thinking?" just keep coming. If you already have the regular piloting license of the appropriate level, the perk should just be enabled so you don't (accidentally or otherwise) spend credits on nothing.

My guess is one of the chuckleheads in charge has secret metrics that say this is the correct thing to do.

  15. Is this really still not possible? I thought with this patch queuing with ops groups would be enabled.

It's enabled, you just have to queue ops for rated which means you're going up against other pre-made groups...everytime.

If you're looking to queue up an ops group in the hopes of going against a pug...that's not happening.

  16. Then just sell the box if you already have the recruit gear. Oh i get it, you just want to be greedy with even more credits.

Everyone gets the same two options with the quest, a full set of recruit gear or a token that can be sold to a vendor that happens to equal the amount of a full set of recruit gear.

What part of choosing between the box of gear OR the token are you not understanding? What part of you can't have/get both are you not understanding? Btw, the person you quoted wasn't saying that he wanted both, not even close.

  17. So let me get this straight, if you bought a Bluray player for $600.00 and then six months latter it was reduced to $350 would you return to the store and demand you be refunded $250.

If the answer is NO, then what make you think that you deserve your money back in this instance?

Several people have already responded but I'ma pile on anyways.

What makes you think your analogy is anywhere near accurate in relation to recruit gear and the token?

    The answer is...it's not.

The person you quoted wasn't demanding anything. The person you quoted was responding to someone saying the token was a bad idea.

Bioware is offering a full set of recruit gear OR the token, to all lvl 50's, even you.

  18. Seriously, the attitude is not necessary. Read the posts you skipped I didn't skip any postsover where that was already covered before you decided to 'enlighten' us with your cherished wisdom. I was blunt in pointing out misinformation. I corrected misinformation with fact. You were offended by my bluntness and decided to make it my fault because I was blunt and had an attitude

The poster you are quoting was partially misinformed, No, the poster I originally quoted posted incorrect information...specifically "I'd just like to point out that Armormech has no advantage compared to other "kit makers"." That is not partially misinformed as you say, that's just flat out wrong. though specifically he only mentioned Synthweaving and neglected mention of Armstech entirely. No, he said 'the other "kit makers"' Blanket, all encompassing statement and since it's a blanket statement it automatically includes armstech since armstech is one of the kit makers regardless of whether or not that poster knew it. This is a fact. I'm being blunt delivering this fact. Not my fault the person I quoted didn't look up the correct information before he posted. I had thought Armormech was actually the only one that had the cheapest. close just missed synthweaving but there is a possible argument to be made that armortech still comes out ahead because the mats are more easily acquired than synthweaving mats for the simple reason that armortech mats can be farmed by killing droids A major point of the original post in the thread was that no one can viably compete in the marketplace other than Armormech I was agreeing with you and correcting misinformation (where I was mistaken by neglecting Synthweavers), clearly seeming to imply that you did not read it at all. Again, I was agreeing with you To top it off I wasn't even talking to you when this started. I was bluntly pointing out misinformation to someone else WHILE AGREEING WITH YOU

EDIT: In the interest of accuracy, I've changed the original post to include mention of Synthweavers. I documented the change at the bottom of the post lest anyone tell me I'm trying to 'cover up' my mistakes. :p There is no way you're talking about me here because I NEVER....EVER...mentioned your original post until now. Did someone else post saying you were trying to cover up your mistakes? If no one, including me, posted that you were trying to cover up your mistakes why bring it up?

I'm going to guess that this....Quote: Originally Posted by Seront

I'm still trying to figure out why you made the choice to defend a person who was wrong against a person who was agreeing with you. Please tell me why you would defend wrong against agreeing with you. And before you start typing, my blunt attitude is not the issue, the issue is you defending a person who was wrong against a person who was agreeing with you and when I called you on it you got bent out of shape.

  19. I think he meant exclusively amongst the crew skills that can actually make the *kits* not the mats for the kits. In which case it is limited to Armormech, Synth, and Armstech.

Armortech and synthweaving use 2 and 2.

    Armstech uses 4 and 6.

Which part of less mats to create the kit is an advantage to selling the kit are you not understanding?

  20. That's nice.

I'd just like to point out that Armormech has no advantage compared to other "kit makers". There are appropriate green items available for mass production and priced at 2x 2x 2x "common green mats".... braces for synthweaving I believe.

Wrong. Armortech and synthweaving use 2 and 2 for mats. Armstech uses 4 and 6, cybertech uses 2 and 4, biochem uses 2 and 2 and 4.

All skills can break down items, the advantage comes from the least amount of mats used in order to complete one aug kit.

Please stop posting incorrect information. Please don't try to argue that 2 and 2 equals 4 and 6 either.

  21. they are, but there arent a bunch of them, and everytime i run into them they look really out of place, their faces almost make them look like the vampires from buffy the vampire slayer.

The fact that you watch this puts everything into perspective.
