Well to be fair the most popular MMO are generally made in the US. No company is going to want to have employee's coming in at really insane hours to work to deploy a patch. Look at all the Overtime (or extra pay for odd hours) they'd have to pay out then.

They do the patches when it's best for that company. If it's in the US, expect the downtime to be during US working hours. It's as simple as that.

Maybe - just maybe - it would be a good idea not to do maintenance at a convenient time for the US when you've just expanded into the Asia Pacific market and are trying to build a base there. Maybe it would be good business sense not to put maintenance at prime time in your new market when you're trying to attract and keep new players in that region. Maybe it would be a good idea to have maintenance at a time that isn't during peak playtime hours for the new customers you're trying to gain and retain, just for a month or two at least.

I think you're just operating in your own fantasy world where everything and everyone is supposed to cater to your every whim.

I think you are dodging the point because you can't admit I'm right about this.

Scheduling maintenance for peak time in their new market in the first week of launch is a very dumb decision.

As I already stated, SWTOR has always done updates on a game wide basis, not by region.  Some region is always going to be more inconvenienced by downtimes for game updates.  Maybe you would prefer to not have an APAC server and just stick with down times in APAC peak hours and poor server latency.  After seeing all the complaints about the APAC server posted in these forums I've really started wondering if it was worth the devs time and effort to do APAC players a solid by getting them a regional server to play on after taking such servers away from them in 2013.

You completely ignored what I said because you can't defend scheduling maintenance for peak time in their new market.

Maintenance times in almost every MMO is scheduled for the benefit of US players. In this case, that is clearly poor planning as they literally just launched in Asia this week. Having 2 maintenances in 2 days during peak hours is going to lose them a lot of their new players in that region because their new customers' first experiences with the game are crucial to keeping them.

I guess you need to make sure the only online games you play are developed in EU then so they will make sure to do maintenance and updates that favor EU-based players 🙄.  It's like you want the US based SWTOR devs to work during EU working hours instead of US working hours.  Since SWTOR has never done updates by region but only for the entire game there will always be some region that experiences more inconvenient maintenance times than other regions.

Expanding to Asia Pacific to attract players in a new market and then scheduling your maintenance time for peak hours in that region isn't the smartest move though is it

They have to do updates now before the holidays starts and the devs go on vacation.

And update days will allways hit some ones prime time, or days they have available to play on. It's unfortunate, but at same time it's something that needs doing.

Game was working just fine for me. Now it's not working at all.

  6. Hello frens,

I played the hell out of SWTOR during lockdowns on Darth Malgus. I'm relocating to South East Asia so Shae Vizla seems perfect for me to get back into the game since that's the closest server and it'll give me a fresh start.

What's the rundown on this server? Pros/cons? Light/Dark side balance (and does it matter)?

I see that now every career has access to all the other combat styles, that's weird and takes away a lot of character from the careers but oh well.

What's endgame like these days? Are raids a thing?

    Thanks

  7. Hello everyone,

Didn't know where else to post this, hope here is OK.

I did a recovery reset of my laptop today. Got around to reinstalling SW and I was dumb enough to lose all my interface options. Anyway, once I'd got my interface back to normal, I checked my key bindings. I use the ` and alt+` binds to activate class cooldowns. For some reason now they don't work, as in even while the ` and alt+` keys are still bound in my key binding settings from previous installation, when I press the ` key now nothing happens, as in the game just doesn't register it at all. It's as if the ` key has been entirely unbound from the game. I checked if it still works in other programs and it does, so something has happened to my SWTOR game.

Anyone else had this problem or know of a fix?

TLDR: game has stopped recognising the ` key, plz help UwU

  8. Recommendation: use the legacy storage (yellow storage kiosks on the Fleet) to transfer them rather than mail, for two reasons:

    * That way you can change your main and raid what's in the legacy bank on a different character without having to mail them around again.

    * It's free, as opposed to mailing which costs credits every time.

Any of the four "Mission" skills = Diplomacy, Investigation, Treasure Hunting, Underworld Trading.

    Thank you broseph

  9. Hello everyone, this will probably be an easy one for a lot you.

I've got a main character I have settled on, but I'm currently playing other characters to complete all the class stories. Since I'm pretty certain I will abandon these characters once I finish their stories, I've decided it would be a good idea to have them farm companion gifts using crew skills while I do their stories, and I will mail these companion gifts to my main who can use them.

So, which crew skills gather companion gifts? I'm subbed so I can do 3 max.

    Thanks.

  10. Just checking in to say thanks for all the replies.

Also, gosh darn, only doing the class story and I've already cleared two planets. It goes so much faster. I've figured the best way to do things is to arrive on a new planet, grab all the heroics and use the teleporters to do them all quickly, then quick travel back to the start and do the class story. Rinse and repeat for each planet. The heroics give you some nice xp, creds, and gear, then whoosh go through the story missions. Great system, it's working very well for me.

And, of course, once I've completed all stories I'll choose a main and go back and do all the plantary missions for the comp influence. Winner! It took me like 5 or 6 weeks to do my first character, but at this rate I reckon I could do a class a week during lockdowns!

  11. This is 100% correct. I just hate missing out on the 1000-1800 comp influence points, per quest, for the planetary missions. For instance, I just finished the 1st chapter with an assassin and Khem is already lvl 22.

As my plan is to complete every class story and then choose a main, would I be able to go back and do the plantary missions I skipped on the main I choose after I've completed their story? I won't need to farm comp influence on the characters I decide to drop after I've done their stories, so I'll just farm on the one I do finally settle on.

  12. Yes, you can skip everything but class stories. I have done this in the past, just doing class stories and planetary heroics.

    OK cool, thanks!

If you are not concerned with comp influence or ds/ls points, go for it.

I figure I can farm those later when I decide what my main will be anyway. I'lll just go back to the start and do all the missions I skipped on the one character I decide to main rather than every single character for that stuff.

I am just a tad ocd when it comes to questing, lol! I have a tendency of doing all quests which, as a result, normally puts me around lvl 70 once I complete the entire class story. Then just off to Ossus.

omg same, I will drive past some ******** standard yellow missions and know I don't need them but I find myself thinking "...but I have to do everything" even though I already did it all on my first character and my current character is massively overlevelled already.

    Thanks for the reply.

  13. Finished my first story last week (Imp Op), I decided that instead of doing the expansions I want to do all the other class stories first, then decide who my main will be and do the expansions with that class.

I'm on my 2nd character now, just hit Alderaan. Just like my first character I'm already massively overlevelled (I'm subbed BTW), so can I just ignore all other quests except for class story missions? It would save me a lot of time if I just skipped literally everything else and just ran the class story. Would I be missing out on essential xp and creds if I do this? What about the other purple missions I find on every planet that are available to every class? I've seen all those on my first playthrough anyway.

    Thanks.

  14. Hi everyone,

If I buy something from the cartel market, such as a mount, companion, weapon, armour, is it available on all my characters or just the one I bought it on?

Also, what about the HK droid unlock?

    Cheers
