  1. Disincentivizing people from completing conquest on more than three characters == people playing less == players unsubscribing == less revenue == less profit for EA shareholders == cost cutting (BioWare jobs lost) == less content == less players…. And we go round and a round until EA can’t cost cut anymore to make a profit == game shuttered

That’s why a large part of 7.0 changes are a massively bad idea. BioWare are either naively unaware of what these changes will do to the population or they are fully aware and doing it anyway.

If it’s number 2 then it’s probably the dumbest business decision I’ve ever come across. And when it fails, someone’s head should roll.

If it’s number one, then I’m sorry to say it, the wrong people are in charge of the business and they need to be replaced too because the rest of us can see where this is headed and they should too. It’s not rocket science.

You piss off the player base or make the game really un-fun or have less to do and people leave. I can’t for the life of me understand how BioWare have never ever figured this out in the 9 years of the game. Now we are going into the 10th year and they are repeating all their old mistakes. Is it for nostalgia’s sake?

Neither scenario is good. The many dumb changes to so many parts of the game is just excessive, even for BioWare. It’s why it feels like someone near the top is purposely sabotaging the game cause I don’t think the devs are stupid.

I think you may overestimating the conquest. Actually not so many people are into it. And about people unsubscribing the game. Let's be serious for a second. Do you really think that? With all of this new content there will be more people that will sub than unsub. I don't try to be mean or rude to you i think you have your part well explained but bioware will not gonna lose, the ones who will lose are those old-time players that are playing swtor for conquest mostly. Conquest isn't a thing anymore in any of other servers rather than the main one, Star Forge.

If swtor wouldn't fix the titles problem soon the conquest communities will die. The guilds find less and less people commited to playing in a guild especially as they cannot get active people anymore.

Another point is the titles that cannot be granted unless you take a planet. Now you would say that this is because the first guild in the yield shall take it as they take the planetary name. The real problem is those guilds who are winning the yields are always winning without losing. This prestige cannot be win ever by other guilds that are also work hard for them. In this manner, they either generate the titles to more than a guild in the yield or we will witness the death of the conquest.

As a final note i would like to apologize if my message is hardly readble i am originally from Slovakia.

  2. Hi all,

Following up from Musco’s post last week, I wanted to swing around and chat about some of the 7.0 changes we are making to Conquest. We want to provide you all a heads up on these coming changes, and also go into some of the thoughts and reasoning behind them.

Update to the Personal Conquest Goal

As some of you may have noted from our most recent PTS, the goal for Personal Conquest will be increased from the previous 50,000 points to 100,000 points for “Legacy of the Sith”.

There are numerous facets to Conquest we have been reviewing:

    • The economic impacts the system has had over the 6.0 era
    • The engagement impacts of the system and how that has affected not just the individual player but how it has affected the greater community as a whole
    • How Conquest is going to be tied into the 7.0 systems and gameplay loops

We want to ensure that Conquest remains a viable and enjoyable loop for all types of players, while also ensuring that it is promoting a healthy relationship for players and the connecting systems.

We believe the starting point of all of this is in the rate of which Conquest can be completed. This rate has an immediate and direct effect on every facet mentioned above.

    • It contributes to how many additional credits are being generated per week across the game
    • How many Guild Flagship Encryptions can be obtained and thus how rapidly a Guild can progress their Flagship
    • How many characters a player decides to run through the Conquest cycle
    • Which Conquest Objectives players favor in order to maximize their goals

All of these are a direct result of the rate in which Conquest can be completed. What we have seen throughout 6.0 was that the rate of Conquest completion was not contributing to these facets in a healthy manner. It was increasing the rate of acquisition for what should be long term goals for players, promoting a playstyle of interruptive play as players hit their Conquest target and then swap out their characters, creating social pressures to participate in Conquest as often as possible, and adding to the on-going economic changes we have seen in the game over the past year.

We reviewed various goal amounts, both with their impact on the systems currently and soon to be associated with Conquest, but also with the player experience in mind. After this review, we found that 100,000 was the best bridge between the goals of maintaining the health of these systems while minimizing the impact for all players. We want to maintain that Conquest is an enjoyable system which rewards you for doing virtually anything the game has to offer, while also proactively working to ensure we can provide a healthy and responsible symbiotic relation to the economy, and additional systems and progression tied around it. We want to ensure that Conquest is still a system where players feel that they can run it with multiple characters each week, but that it is not the only way to enjoy Conquest.

    Update to Objective Rewards

Starting with 7.0, Conquest Objectives will no longer reward experience or credits for completing them. We are making this change to help reduce the number of credits being generated in the game, as well as removing the experience loop Conquest has had in the past.

While Conquest is not solely responsible for some of the economic shifts we have seen in the game, it is definitely a strong contributor. The credit amount for individual Objectives was never considered high; however, over time those values begin to add up to a non-zero impact sum.

As an example of this, one of the more completed Objectives, “Missions: Story Time”, has generated nearly 64 billion credits into the economy alone. This is not taking into consideration the Credits players earned for completing the Story Mission itself (which could exponentially expand this value). As you can see, the combination of the Objective Credit reward with the Mission Credit reward is generating more credits into the game than necessary.

The removal of the experience reward is being done to help contribute toward the health of the leveling process, while also removing a self-generating loop in Conquest where completing Conquest Objectives would grant experience to level a player up. This would complete the ‘Advancement: Gain a Level’, ‘Advancement: Gain 5 Levels’, or ‘Renown: Rank Up’, thus gaining a player more experience. This loop in combination of the impact on the leveling experience are the reasons we are removing experience rewards from Conquest Objectives.

We want to maintain that the activity you are doing is the focal point and should provide the Credits and experience reward; not the Conquest Objective itself.

We hope this helps shine some light on the intent of the 7.0 Conquest changes!

I don't want to talk extra but i let this note here. There is a clique in this game that refuse to accept the changes because the inflation is in their benefit. Regarding the new changes, i am sure that at this point a slow deflation is necesary and yes many will suffer but it's necesary.

  3. yes, remove it from CQ, see how long GSF will last after that. The reason GSF gets so many high points is because it was at a disadvantage, and wasn't popping much, since it was added to CQ, and then seasons, it enjoyed a rebirth. Sure you get people who are there just for the points, and as I've said numerous times, it's up to the players to forward these to CS, and CS to sanction them. But since it has been added, you also got the players who started enjoying it, and playing more, you also got the players who do it for GSF/Seasons, but actually try hard to.

But removing them from CQ will put it back where it was. Fewer players, less pops, more disgruntled people.

I am totally agree, GSF really got much more active since was added in CQ. But there shall be a solution to the kamikaze problem. We lose the matches in few minutes after we start because bunch of people blow themselves so they can play fast with all 4 types of ship in order to get points. I mean, really? There is no other option to prevent that?

  4. My gut reaction based on my time on PTS with 7.0 changes is that conquest is disproportionately harder for casuals, soloers, and altaholics.

Now honestly, it's not hard to do 100k with a toon. Last week i did around 3 million conquest points just by playing story line and some flashpoints. I do have max stronghold bonus but even so the conquest isn't hard.

  5. No, because unlike certain GSF players I don't try to nuke other peoples content just to make myself feel important, or make my content more 'important'

Leave GSF points as it is, INCREASE PvP to match, bring back some form of crafting, CRAFTING should have a week where it is 'focused', just like pvp, gsf, ops, etc.

Stop all this garbage of trying to nuke content you don't play, instead campaign for points for all....

I cannot agree with you. I play GSF and i love it but i am sick of newbies that are joining my groups just to kill themselves for completing the task. I barely win because of that. Enough is enough ! Please remove the GSF from the conquest objectives. And regard crafting i don't even think is a good idea, now everyone know how to exploit the points from crafting.

  6. With 7.0 coming out, personal conquest cannot be reached until acquiring 100,000 points per toon.

Currently, under 6.x, we must acquire 50,000 points.

Some like that change, some don't. With many alts, I'm not a fan.

So here's a suggestion to make both crowds happy: a toggle

50K toggle - everything we experience now regarding conquest

100K toggle - the rewards might include an extra encryption or something over and above the 50K reward.

The 50k-crowd won't miss the extra encryption because they never had it to begin with, we only had one, anyway.

The 100k-crowd will have something more to look forward to than what 7.0 promises now, extra labor, no extra reward.

Doesn't address the 7.0 inflation-hedging nerf to credits for completing conquest, but that's a different issue.

The idea is to make it harder so the players to recive less. That's a way to deflate the server's economy that is inflated with credits.

  7. Hi all!

I wanted to take a moment to pop in and help clarify some of the conversation we are seeing regarding 7.0 and perceived Conquest changes.

There is some conversation regarding us decreasing the values of Conquest Objectives across the board. While there are some Conquest Objectives which will see some small balance tweaks, they are confined to very specific Objective types (mostly relating to World Bosses and Star Fortresses) and are by no means wide-spread. The Conquest Points for Heroics, Daily Areas, Defeat Enemies 1 and 2, Operations, and nearly 90% of every other Conquest Objective is remaining exactly as you see it on the live server today.

To address some of the values we have seen called out specifically in this thread, here are the values which are currently on our development server and planned to release with 7.0:

    • Black Hole Weekly:
      • 4,300 (10,750 at full 150% SH Bonus)

      [*]Operation: Completion

      • 100,000 (250,000 at full 150% SH Bonus)

      [*]<Planet>: Heroic Missions

      • 2,000 (5,000 at full 150% SH Bonus)

      [*]<Planet>: Defeat Enemies

      • 1,650 (4,125 at full 150% SH Bonus)

      [*]<Planet>: Defeat Enemies 2

      • 3,350 (8,375 at full 150% SH Bonus)

Note that all values above are the same values you are seeing on the Live server now.

Please remember that the values you see in the Conquest window are reflective of the existing Stronghold bonus you possess on that server. If you are used to seeing a specific Conquest value on PTS which you do not see on Live, please double check your Stronghold Bonus as that could be causing confusion you wouldn’t typically see once you hit the full bonus.

    Hope that helps!

You shall fix the EV and KP farms. Those are exploits

  8. These are fair points, especially the tax evasion one with people trading one on one to avoid the GTN tax. I’m all for BioWare putting a lower credit cap on the amount of credits that can be traded between players. Then adding a scaled GTN tax system that increases gradually based on the list price. They could even reduce the current 8% down to 4% for cheaper items and have a maximum 16% for items above 900 million.

Trixxie, supply and demand. If bioware put a cap on trades people will stop buy cc. So less money to bioware.

Same for the GTN. I don't considering a solution the control of trades and GTN transactions. If bioware try to force devaluation of the items, the players will start buying less cartel items. Bioware would suffer financialy for that.

In my opinion the Eric's change is a good one. Plenty of SWTOR's players have 50 toons from which they try to do 50 000 conquest points in order to get those solid pieces of matrix. This change is a good one.

  9. !!! Really looking forward to the weapons in the outfitter and the shared tagging!

Thank you guys for keeping us up to speed with the additions and changes coming in 7.0!

(small question, but will there be any additions/updates to companion customization coming as well? like allowing us to change arcann's gear and give senya her old look back?)

    Quite a serious one?

  10. Without wishing to seem rude or anything, but you (the studio collectively) suck. Weapons, as I've been saying ever since Outfit Designer was released, should be in a separate system *like* Outfit Designer, but selectable independently of it.

Why? Because my characters' weapons are not part of their outfits.

Without wishing to seem rude or anything but i disagree. Pay more atention to what they said.

  12. Why do you keep disparaging normal players like everyone cheats on who crafts? Are you on a witch hunt to drive all crafters from the game or something?

    Please stop

I think the change is apropiate for the specific situation we got right now. So, it's not a secret that is the human desire to chose the easy way and cheat. Do you imagine how many people would start running macro if those objectives are not changed? So many people who seen those things and now you will not gonna have just few elites on the servers but a macro revolution as a result of the public info.

There is no way that those objectives shall stay infinite because that will surely inspire others to do the same. Beside those who already doing it ( and trust me , they are already enough ) would come plenty of other people who will gonna think or hear that the punishments are not exist or at not so bad.

In my opinion we all shall focus on starting a long term in-game campaign in order to explain the SWTOR players that cheating is wrong, is unacceptable , is bad and it will gonna be punished.

We , the guilds shall focus on other campaigns in the same time. We shall come with ideas to help Bioware be a bigger thing, ideas to increase the population and economy.

  13. I totally agree with DragonSire here. I see no reason why the "earn title" thingy should be restricted. We all do our best, and at one point we should get it. You don't need to be no1 to win it. I think, that is an easy change, that will benefit the community.

I am 100% agree with your proposal too

  14. I know you guys have all been asked to contribute to this thread, and that is okay. Hopefully it will stay in this one thread. :p But its weekend...:p

That being said, I appreciate your more reasonable approach to this. But IMO the underlying problem/issue we have here won't go away with adding more planets or broken down by guild size even.

(for example. adding more planets as they have done with that one event, did not help.)

Look at what happened on DM for instance.

Maybe just do the Oprah thing and give everyone that can get on the board a title and leave everything exactly as it is. Said jokingly. but /shrug

Personally, I like the idea of reshuffling all the planets as someone else suggested in another thread, to make them all available for L, M and S. So that all guilds will have access to the title eventually. Small guilds have as much a place in the galaxy as our large guilds. They should not feel they have to join a silly "alliance" to be able to get a title IMO. Stay unique and different. Offer players a variety of "homes" to choose from.

Valid suggestions about changing the popups will be awesome too.

This idea is a great one , i would wish to see it happen. Indeed it's enough place in the galaxy for small guilds too but the point you presented it's in a negative manner deforming the meaning of this thread tho.

No offence , nothing against you but i did not understood what you tried to say. Just a bit confused to see it .

PS: The SWTOR communities will grow larger if this will gonna happen, the competition would be a serious one and the activities will gonna increase too. With the increased activities due to the competition more players will gonna stick with SWTOR and not just leave as soon as the last expansion ends up.

    So yes, i am 1 000 000 % down for it.

  15. Dear thread administrators,

My discord admin has a swtor dev tracker pinned in one of our channels.

For most part over multiple months, I have enjoyed being able to read of the latest swtor news, upcoming updates, events etc.

Lately it seems as if all we are getting is reminders of people breaking the game tos and what they should expect if they keep it up. For most part I think these reminders are non value added for a lot of us non rule breakers. could there be a way where we can actually get value added content in your messages?

    Wrong channel but no worries.

They need to do it so cuz it's impossible to call only specific people ( unless private messages) but they are doing this in order to let everyone know about ToS agreement, the forum rules and of course about how to not behave. So i am quite happy with them reminding it.

  16. How would this change will gonna affect the economy?

I heard one guy who deleted or modified his/her post talking about economy and how this would gonna affect it.

    NO.

Daesh Cyber/Armormech/Armstech or Cell graphs are not components that someone would want in bulk. Those people who do CP from crafting tend to abuse those particulary component or the level 2 stims left in game since the lvl 1 were eliminated ( stims that could be used by biochem crafters with beta accounts only , stims that were crafted in pack of 6/7).

The economy of those components or stims to be affected is like saying that if you spit the ground you will gonna flood the world.

  17. every one has their own opinion about guild sizes, personally a small guilds to me would be 7 to about 20, medium about 20 to 200 or so, large 200 to about 500, and mega, the rest. Of course, people will argue with that, but my opinion is just as valid as yours, and unless BW actually states what they consider a solid, 'cannon' size for guilds, people will still assert their own sizes.

As for the yields, there is no reason a small guild shouldn't get the large yield, it just takes team work, even with the infinite crafting removed, we still have the others. Personally, though, the other infinite should be removed too, or i9t just shows favouritism to s elect few, if only one group is targeted.

    Agree with you

  18. We have been keeping an eye on the thread and have removed posts that violate our Rules of Conduct and/or forum guidelines. As a reminder, please do not call out other players/guilds as that creates a wave of negativity and toxicity. Please report them accordingly.

Spamming our forums and our channels is not permitted. We can take actions against your account should you spam or brigade our forums or support lines.

If you need to report a player or a guild, please use the appropriate process to do so. https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/report-players-for-cheating-abuse-and-harassment/ and use the steps that can be found under the SWTOR platform. It is also important to include crucial info such as player name, guild name, screenshots or other media that shows Terms of Service and/or Rules of Conduct being broken.

And always, please remain civil here. Do not resort to insults, attacks, or any level of harassment. If you cannot remain civil, regardless of what your opinion on any topic is, we can move to sanction your account.

    ^^^^^^^^

  19. Since I couldn't figure out how to make a post this'll have to do (which is frustrating)... So, I have a complaint, it has to do with companions after you get them back in the expansion whether through main story or side recruitment missions.

I'm continually getting frustrated that Corso (using him as an example of a companion), no longer approves, or disapproves of anything I say in conversations after I reunite with him. Even though I'm really happy to get Corso back, it doesn't really feel like he actually returned because he doesn't care about what I say in any conversations. The only companions who do care, only care because they take part in the Knights of The Fallen Empire expansion story. But after that expansion, companions like Vette or Aric Jorgan don't care, and I'm not okay with that.

I've been upset about this for a long time, I want it to change so that it'll once again say, "Corso Riggs approves" or "Corso Riggs disapproves" (I want this for all companions, not just him). Also, I think that if you could create companion conversations for after you get them back that would be great and it would make me so happy. You could make them possible by making it so that after certain parts of the story happen, an alert pops up saying that a companion wants to talk to you. This is something that happens with Kira Carsen and Lord Scourge when you're on a Jedi Knight and after you reunite with them. I would be so happy if you made that happen for all companions over the course of the expansions so that it would feel like they actually returned, instead of just a helper that follows you around.

    Please make these changes.

KOTET/KOFTE has eliminated this aspect of because you basicly lead the galaxy so nobody disaproving you. They are blindly following you

  20. One of the top guilds that everyone seems to hate has around 40+ events for their members every week with about 20 volunteers that host these events. So what then? Do they not deserve to keep taking planets for the effort they put in?

They do diserve. We need a strategy for sharing large yield titles.
