  1. the list is incomplete and not final nor does it cover the entire year. relax. at the end of the year you can start with this attitude. But, it's JUST February. How about we go glass half full for once?

Seriously... when was the last update to GSF? How that glass half full approach work when the glass is empty?

  2. What about GSF?!!? I understand it probably wasn't what EA was expecting, but there are a lot of us still playing that aspect that would LOVE to know you have plans for it in the future. Hard to keep playing something you know doesn't have any focus... thank god it's at least a solidly built aspect of this game...
  3. Ok, I haven't posted a record in a while (sorry, been lazy).... but thought I would post this... you can imagine my frustration right about now. (Honorable mention to Torgar for saving the match for his team)

    Deathmatch

    End By Timer

    Cekis - S13-Sting - Despair - The Harbinger - 41/46 Kills & Assists (89.1%)

    Cekis - S13-Sting - Despair - The Harbinger - 38 Kills (remove Optikill)

    Scout - Deathmatch

    Cekis - S13-Sting - Despair - The Harbinger - 41 Kills & Assists (remove Optikill)

    Cekis - S13-Sting - Despair - The Harbinger - 133,922 Total Damage

  4. Apparently in the New York Cantina party, a podcast got a dev to say there was a "multi-phase plan to revitalize GSF", and that the 3.0 changes to requisition gain are the first phase.

There was also mention (in regard to queue times for PvP in general) that they are working on something "better than cross-server queues".

Devs, if you have a multi-phase plan, I sure would love to hear it here, so we can provide feedback. I've already had a guildie abandon the game because of the lack of GSF news for 3.0. Even just knowing the basics of a plan, with the knowledge that that plan might change, would help ease some minds and extend some patience.

Rest of you, what could be "better than cross-server queues"?

I saw this today as well... I can say first off that I've GSF'd a LOT less for a few reasons. The two biggest are lack of conquest goals (i.e. conquest is ruling the roost at the moment) and second, the new expansion plus 12x XP gain is pulling me away as well. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I'm growing more and more frustrated with the lack of support or even MENTION of GSF from the dev team about ANYTHING of GSF to be supported long term which has made it all that much easier to NOT play it.

What could be better than Cross Server queue's? Cross faction teams maybe? However good, I still can't quite see it being better. I feel like they just don't have the data to get a solid understanding of what's plaguing GSF participation and they're shooting in the dark as to what might improve participation. They'd know if they concentrated on it... i.e. - go fix things - such as the combat log, add more data logging for your own usage, etc. Those two things can expose a few things AND build participation. If they fixed the damn combat logs you would start to see a lot of parsing support (i.e. I know I would build something!), which in turn would build a larger community.

Unfortunately, until certain things are changed (fixed, whatever), this mini-game will continue to starve itself. Here's a nugget... do you know that if they simply changed how players are logged from ID's to a label such as a name/server combo we would be able to build a leaderboard and maintain a REAL record system? Just ONE SIMPLE LITTLE CHANGE as that would allow this to happen. From that, I could build a web site that you could UPLOAD YOUR COMBAT LOG TO... it would parse out the log, save your stats and record your records (i.e. most healing, most damage, times you used, say, Barrel Roll, etc.)... But ya, can't do that until it gets changed. I do consider it a bug because they already do that for ground pounders.:rak_02::rak_02::rak_02::rak_02:

  5. There are issues with this on a few levels:

Increasing Fleet Req and Ship Req simply means fliers can get their ships mastered faster. It does not mean you'll have more people playing... it does not mean you're solving a problem. You're just getting them mastered ships faster. The SINGLE biggest issue with getting ships faster is that the game is STILL based on SKILL and the following things:

    • The ability to understand moving in 3D space while maintaining a solid understanding of your surroundings.
    • The awareness of balancing engine power with fire power and shield power.
    • How to remember your specials and when they're good/bad and for what purposes.

There are a lot of other things to knowing how to get the most out of GSF to make you competitive that a mastered ship simply does not provide you. You get it from EXPERIENCE... no guide or XP buff can help you know how to fly, what to fly or how to operate your ship.

OK, so you can't fix the "problem" by throwing a buff at it. You will only do so on a temporary basis if at all. I get why you're doing this... I get you think "if people only try it long enough" that they will stick with it. Nope... not the case. You've got to fix the main issues before and it's not fleet req. It's support.

Support GSF... make it something more than "just a thing you do"... make it a competitive game... make it so you can officially see how you stack up against others... give rewards, titles, achievements for this... it can't POSSIBLY be harder than what it was for PvP to do this... and, if I remember correctly, you probably had the same staff, if not smaller, than what you do now... just have to get the hats to approve it. I think if you do this, boost the req a LITTLE, add shared q'ing (cross server) and possibly make GSF legacy wide with the ability to 'cash out' your req, I think you'll find there is a LOT more interest in this absolute GEM of a mini-game (yes, I love it... and continue to love it).

...and.. you might take a look at balance a bit, but that's debatable.

  6. I miss the Death Squadron vs. Black Squadron days on Pot5. Plenty o good pilots back then. Not sure where they all went off to. I of course recognize Ispep and Scrab above. I moved to Harby and can't find anyone, though I don't play nearly as much GSF...

    Boklava/Wacki

Hiya Bok! Long time no see! Most of us are on the imp side... well... the few that are on Harbie full time anyway... We're in DESPAIR (one hell of a GSF guild)... look us up!

  7. We're having a weird issue right now. Both sides won't engage a turret in contention or in control. They all sit outside of turret range and melee with each other. Its like it's dec of last year all over again. It is not a matter of skill or quantity it's a matter of experience which breeds both.

Good lord... so glad to be on a server with a large population that knows how to play... more power to you and PoT5 brother! REMEMBER DECEMBER!!! (lol - had to)

  8. Just to put it out there when Scrab flew on Pot5 he was a force to be reckoned with but not the demigod you all make him out to be. We have (had) many pilots of his caliber fly our skies. The vast majority of our dedicated pilots have moved on and GSF has become somewhat of a farce on Pot5, it's much like the other servers now.

Ya, I'll bet... when we left, we left a big hole. Not necessarily in skill, but definitely in quantity. I too RESPECT Scrab very much, but I'm astonished at the "legendary" status he has. He flies a very powerful scout... and flies it well, but not so well that he can't be beat. I consider him a friend so I mean that with the utmost respect, but let's not go overboard by proclaiming his sainthood.

As to whom I respect, anyone that can make an imperium/clarion dance like a scout racking up double digit kills and 60k plus damage. Anyone that can hold a satellite versus a bomber and their support in a scout. Anyone that can break a gunship wall down. Anyone that forces gunship walls by out flying an entire team so well they have nothing left to try but six gunships and two bombers. And finally. The pilot that can kill those two bombers over and over again.

So again, do we really need yet another epeen / popularity contest? You people do know there are more servers and way more pilots to fear than JC and TEH, right? If not keep the good work on stroking those epeens.

I actually very much agree with this - on all aspects. Nice to be mentioned, but when it comes down to it, ya, these threads are popularity contests.

  9. As per the EULUA you accept when you install/update/play the game:

You acknowledge that, owing to the complexity of computer technology, as well as the nature of online games themselves and play over a global communications network outside EA’s control, EA and its licensors cannot and do not guarantee that the Software, the Game and any updates, upgrades or expansions Software will run permanently or uninterrupted on your computer. EA and its licensors are not liable for delays, system failures, system outages or difficulties, especially of a technical nature, that are due to legal restrictions or other circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to third party criminal activity. EA also does not guarantee that the version of the Game covered by this Agreement will be playable in geographic locations where it is not available for sale at retail and/or at all times of the day and/or night.

Ya... this likely isn't due to a legal restriction or a circumstance that is out of their control. It's probably due to a data or software issue they introduced with Strongholds. In that case, ya, they're liable.

  10. DEATHMATCH - End by Timer - SCOUT

    Tolgid - Flashfire - Division Six - The Ebon Hawk - 43/48 Kills & Assists (89.5%)

Tolgid - Flashfire - Division Six - The Ebon Hawk - 41 kills

Tolgid - Flashfire - Division Six - The Ebon Hawk - 171648 Damage

Tolgid - Flashfire - Division Six - The Ebon Hawk - 207.05 DPS

Tolgid - Flashfire - Division Six - The Ebon Hawk - 22 Solo Kills

Why is it the sickest records don't have proof they're legit?!?! It's a shame these efforts go missing... I really wish BW would get things together and just make a records leaderboard on their own so somebody forgetting (or prevented from) taking a screenie of the perf tab (or chat box) doesn't continue to happen.

Great job by the way... if anything, very impressive even for overall.

  11. Can we get a new record for kills/minute plz? It's more relevant than total kills because matches don't always go for that long.

I'm torn on this - mostly because I don't think we have it easily accessible... won't it need to be calculated? I think that leaves a lot of room for error and a lot of responsibility for validation on Camel.

  12. To add even more fun... you can have MULTIPLE LEGACIES on ONE ACCOUNT. :)

That means... Legacy Storage on "Legacy A" cannot share with characters on "Legacy B"... to put it more simply... Legacies are bound to servers... all characters on server "A" will be on one legacy (with storage)... and all characters on server "B" will reside on a different legacy (with different storage)... regardless if they're on the same account.

Therefore, you can't share between servers - even WITH legacy storage...

  13. Armond isn't Yuuko-san..... Yuuko-san = Friendlygurl = Tomeeteeje = Rumina. Totally different people

I crossed the streams then... my bad.

For clarity, my only GSF characters (with more than like five matches played) are Ar'mond, Mae'thon, and Mae-thon, all on TEH. Mae-thon @ TEH was previously Mae'thon @ Pot5, but I transferred him. Further, I previously held records as Arstane @ Pot5, but that character has been retired.

Ya, I think it was late.... d'oh.

  14. A single exception for an impressive record set by a reputable pilot and verified by other trustworthy community members is probably not that big of a deal.

Love you man... but the point isn't that you've got backers... it's that we all follow the same rule in order to maintain the integrity of the records.

Think of it this way... if you and your friends ran a race on one track, but everybody else was in another... Now, say you ran a race on that track with your buddies and you ran REALLY FREAKIN' FAST - breaking the world record time. However, everybody else ran "normal" time on the main track. It's not like you can just waltz on to the other track and say, "I just SMOKED all of you and I can prove it because I had friends time me!" and have it be legit - EVEN IF YOU REALLY DID IT.

Sucks because you really did run that fast... but it can't be legit unless it was official. In this case, there's no proof that it was official. Sorry man... but I've been on the blunt end of that screenshot bug many times - AND the one where I didn't get the perf tab. Rather than submit that sweet record, I just let it go knowing I'll probably get that record again some other day.

So... just keep running that race and have faith that you'll run really freakin' fast on the same track as everybody else... when you do, make sure to have another screenshot program running... just in case. :rak_03:

  15. Noticed this... Armondd is listed twice (once as Ar'mond and once as Yuuko-san):

    KILLS AND ASSISTS

    Kill Streak

    1. Ar'mond - Sting - <Eclipse Squadron> - The Ebon Hawk - 34 Kill Streak

    2. Drakolich - Mangler - Obsidian Squadron - The Bastion - 33 Kill Streak

    3. Pincer - Jurgoran - Obsidian Squadron - The Bastion - 30 Kill Streak

    4. Yuuko-san - IL-5 Skybolt - Damage Overcharge - The Ebon Hawk - 29 Kill Streak

    5. Optikill - S-13 Sting - Despair - The Harbinger - 26 Kill Streak

  16. Don't mind my stupidity. I just looked and said "Oh hey, he didn't die!" so boom scout records lol. Kinda forgot that we don't actually have a picture of his ship.

Like I said. Don't mind the stupidity.

    ...<snip>...

Again guys, sorry for the little mishap, raiding for about multiple hours straight 6 out of the 7 days of the week tends to lead to short and simple thought processes, which aren't always the correct ones. :(

No worries at all. Based on the conversation about his records between Fractal, myself and Armondd saying "you would agree" then having it show up I thought this thread was done. Since you're sticking to your rules I really have nothing to complain about.

THAT being said, I know Armondd is a great vet pilot... I don't doubt that can be achieved (or that he can achieve it) and will commend ANY pilot that can show - without a DOUBT - that they did smash records... BUT... I STRONGLY (duh) feel we all need to stick to the same baseline if this means anything at all... sorry for the drama and thanks for sticking to your guns.

  17. Sorry for the delay, but it's finally been updated :)

Looks like I've got some records to beat, right after I learn to use the F1-F4 keys to change power, not the 6 keys above the arrow keys. :p

Look, I've been on this thread for a long time... you've always stuck to your guns about what is allowed and what isn't allowed regarding ship-specific records - up until now. I'm actually pretty surprised you allowed a record to go into the ship specific records without the PROPER proof that it was real. To me, that's a lack of integrity and by allowing that record(s) to be put there struck down the solid integrity that you once had with this list.

Based on this, I'm no longer going to participate (I'm taking my toys and going home). Please remove any records you have listed for Cekis, C'ekis, Joray and Optikill. Thanks for something that once was fun and enjoyable.
