  1. Dear Ula Vi, I am suprised how this issue still resides in your head.

I have a feeling he will still be telling the tale to his grandkids :)

Jokes aside, why do all threads always have to derail because of this? To be honest I think this is a good example of how Bioware used their ban hammer but then the player got on the right track. This is exactly how it is supposed to be. I heard only good on this player and I know he had some stuff before, but people do make mistakes.

I do not think Mike needs to explain stuff here. This was a good choice by Devs to give a person another chance. Once the community is against you then its really hard to prove anything, this is the internet after all. What we should be concerned about are those cheaters who arent here on forums helping other players and adding to the discussion. The Top 3 and Gold players who enjoying their flairs, gotten through cheats, silently in the game. At least this player has the character to come back and prove he made a mistake but has changed. I do not see posts from players I cannot name.....

Anyway thank you for the update @Mike, those statistics will be welcome and as for the players getting together to cheat, you cant only rely on programmed software here, that really needs to be analyzed.

  2. Is the average Leviathan player weaker than the average DM player? And even if so, if everyone else is weaker than you, shouldn't you deserve to be the highest rated person then?

Again, of course this is a problem for competition between servers, which unfortunately is what applies to top 3 titles right now, as someone of Leviathan can "steal your DM title". There is still no reason to call people just queueing ranked there "debatable".

Picture the situation now, the only way to get a 258 MH/OH is to get monumental crystals or crafting mats from Queen HM. Imagine you are a weaker player on Leviathan and the weekly for Monumental Crystal says do Queen HM or 50 ranked matches (i mean points, u know). So what do u do? You cant find a group that can do the queen on HM so you que SR. If 7 players get this idea you will get your SR pop. Now imagine there is an elite player from DM on this server..... "the one-eyed man is king among the blind"

  3. Can you please provide proof for "low population" and explain what you mean with "otherwise oriented (specifically TH)"? Also what is possibly debatable about playing on an official server?

Ok Mr. Facts, here is the statistic from Season 10 where you can see number of pages on Leaderboards per server:

    SF 98

    SS 66

    TH 34

    Lev 14

    DM 134

The if you are Top 3 and you have been playing on TH then you have faced 4 times less players then on DM and 3 times less than on SF. So this is meant by "low population". Sure its a biased figure, but it still proves Meros point.

    • Change rating distribution to better encourage prolonged, honest play throughout the season
    • Make matchmaking feel more balanced

    Dear Mike,

people already provide good feedback so ill leave it at that, but just do not forget one thing: rewards for daily/weekly. This was a source of issues in the past. On one side you can fix matchmaking, class balance, etc but keep in mind that if you overdo it with the rewards for ranked PVP like crafting mats, Unassembled components etc people will que for ranked messing up all that you have worked for.

So if you manage to pull all these changes and ranked becomes good again, please also focus on this aspect.

  4. So for example X people got X punishment, Y got Y and so on?

Numbers would indeed be a nice way of showing the work of the Devs. Now, we do not see much, we can only count the names on the leaderboards, but without knowing if it was 1 account or 10 accounts we have no idea if someting was even done.

  5. Ok, Im sorry Snave I have to show the public what you are planning this season :D

Its so ridiculous to post pics xD don't trust internet kids.

Guys, lets not make this thread into "those" threads again. We know the PVP community will want to discredit anyone who goes against them and will bring up this stuff. Please keep in mind, its the internet, Photoshop is your friend, you can make toons on other servers with specific names, appearence, make videos etc.

This is about wintrading and not naming and shaming.

  6. A player on these forums did about every conceivable method of cheating for rating, all while botting in gsf for achievements, was temporarily perm banned then restored after offering to turn state witness against other wintraders.

Its funny to see how people have no clue what went on but they make their own version of the story and write it on the forums as if it were the true story! A repeated Lie becomes the Truth I guess.

  7. I appreciate the question, Eric.

There are three types of people in MMOs.

    - Pure PvE people that want to do nothing but kill e-monsters for stuff

    - Pure PvP people that want to kill pixelated people for fame (and stuff)

    - Hybrids that dabble in a bit of both

In SWTOR, there is a grindy system for PvE gear. Back in the old days, there was a grindy system for PvP gear. That PvP grind was necessary because the balance team understood that each side needed their own shiney baulbel to chase. Then, at some point while I was away, that got taken away and a universal grind was introduced, on top of PvE content, for gear.

I can't speak for everyone so I'll speak for myself. I want to earn gear via PvP and PvP alone. I don't want my PvP gear to allow me to gear jump the pure PvE players. I want to hack and slash and pew pew my way into PvP only gear and I want that process to have multiple sets so that I can strive for, attain, and show off my (no joke) l33t skillz.

Pixel gear, in MMOs, is about recognition, pride, and bragging rights. In the current system, you've catered to one side of the fence. I get the "why". But, and I'm again not speaking for everyone, I don't want to have to play Starfighter to get currency to get gear that is both PvP and PvE. I don't want to run Ops and 4 man instances for currency to buy gear that is both PvP and PvE. I want to PvP for gear that:

    - makes me a better PvP player

    - make me equal to a player in greens for PvE

    - isn't a step below PvE players in PvE gear that are playing PvP (why do they get the edge?)

You're gearing system should be built so that e-monster killers get the most out of what they enjoy the most. You're gearing system should let hybrids do both and be semi-sort of ok in their mix of mish mash gear, knowing full well that "grey" isn't a good choice but accepting that they'll get by. You're gearing system should let PvPers focus on their arena (PUN!!!) without muddying up the water - do you know how much it sucks to retool key bindings to switch between the two environments?

Two gearing systems is perfect and, really, the 1.0 gearing system for PvP was a dream because it was all inclusive for everyone that played the game AND it still kept PvPers out of hard core PvE content, because having Expertise on gear was a stat drawback and the set bonuses did nothing to enhance the ability to kill e-monsters.

Personally, this is what I would do:

#1 - Build two sets of armor and let PvPers go back to buying gear with warzone accommodations

#2 - Bolster DOWN to a gear level slightly below max PvE (ie, 252 or whatever); PvE players are in our arena and shouldn't have an edge in stats

#3 - Keep the Warzone Expertise buff but reduce it

#4 - Add Expertise back to PvP gear but at a rate that wouldn't exceed the current Expertise buff (when combined with the buff and gear)

#5 - Unhook PvP from all other aspects of the game BUT introduce mass amounts of achievement fluff (titles, pets, mounts, "apartment gear", etc.)

Please listen to this person! He is absolutely right!

  8. The time when the PVPers had the LEAST grind was in 3.3 this is when Devs realized what was going on.

The price changes in 3.3 were probably the best thing that happened to PVP since the game came out. It was really easy to get ranked gear for your main, alts and multiple specs and any kind of combinations of stats, but it DID require you to play. I really am for this to come back. That would require PVP gear however.

4000 coms to buy pvp gear and another 16000 coms to upgrade to ranked gear! That was great, fair and also kept you busy for a while till you got the coms! This would be the best way.

  9. Its actually quite simple. In this game if you are top, you are either very very good + lucky (being only good is not enough since you are at the mercy of the other 7 ppl) or you cheat. So its a 50-50 chance in your case.

I think he has you here :)

  10. I get it that PvPers are the minority, but damn... show us some love.

Better fix those companion bugs instead of matchmaking, because companion bugs clearly hinder gameplay and enjoyement.

One Dev comment in here is so much to ask for? I believe I've made strong points in my original points, aswell as those who responded. They cannot be ignored.

They almost never comment here, so dont expect that, but they do read, so dont worry.

What you mentioned about companions, you know that around 90% of the game population is here for the story, space barbie and such things. Conquest is the aim of many people now so do not expect PVP stuff to come fast. They do bring PVP content, but to fix such things is too much to ask for.

At least one can see that you like the game when you still hang around even after being so disappointed :)

  11. Whats funny is that sooo many PVPers keep saying how ranked in this game is pointless, means nothing, its a shame to have those flairs etc but now you see the famous players playing a few matches to get those few points for the top 3 spot.

Even on streams they keep saying its nonsense to play for rating and leaderboards but now you can see it, in the end they go for the top spots. So why? Why do it if it means so little these days? :D

  12. Don't respond twice to the same post. It is old, and between then and now nobody else shares that opinion anyway.

Ah yeah, I didn't realize that, but I was reading a few other forum posts when I realized that many people actually write that "if you don't like it, leave" and then it came to me, that, why would I leave? They should leave, I am pretty sure there is like 90% nice people in this game and 10% of those bad ones. So why not kick out the 10%? Instead of chasing the 90% away?

There were other posts in my thread stating the same but this one was the newest.

  13. Use the ignore feature and move on. Or better yet, turn off chat entirely, then go bury your head in the sand.

So this is really it? I mean do I really have to be the one who goes? I pay for a game and I play it to have fun. Someone else is also paying for the game but he spends his time being mean to other people. They even go above and beyond the limits and harass others. So is that you answer? If I don't like it I should leave? Why? Why wont that other person leave instead? Why is he entitled to stay for being and a** and I have to turn off chat, ignore people or even leave the game?

In the real world if you find someone offending you even threatening etc you call the police, layer etc and they handle it. They deal with the person, put him to prison, fine him what ever. You pay taxes, police protects you. So I do not get why I have to be the one doing the compromises here.

  14. Why is this thread still going?

Use the ignore feature and move on. Or better yet, turn off chat entirely, then go bury your head in the sand.

The thread is apparently still going (and I am glad that its being discussed) because it is a real issue in the game. As I wrote before I have been ignoring people over and over, but they just keep on appearing. There is no end to it.

It was already pointed up that even the "report" and "ignore" function is there to actually replace moderation as the Devs move the control mechanism to players themselves, who actually pay to play the game. That is not very optimal.

However, I have to say that recently the insults went a bit down and I have seen a few players in ranked this week using only /me cause they were chat banned. So maybe we are getting somewhere.

  15. Someone remind me why we have to have a new gear tier, when they could have made the new operation just a bit harder/more demanding for current gear levels?

I'm no programmer, but I would think that upping the HP of the boss, or tightening the enrage timer, or making the adds spawn a bit more frequently, or increasing the radius of the stupid on the ground would have been easier to adjust than designing a whole new gear reward system / reputation rank and all the rest.

    :rak_02:

It is pretty clear why we have the gear, they simply need to buy time before 6.0

You can see how the adding of content is spread out over a long time period. I mean if you take a look at the stuff we got up to know it is almost stuff worth of 1 expansion. Instead we were slowly getting things added like Flashpoints, warzones and now NiM. They could have really supplied all this at once as a huge package.

Anyway, its simply meant to keep us busy till 6.0 and I am fine with that.

  16. Takes two seconds to right click and ignore. Then again, I rarely use the feature because I just don't pay attention to chat that much. People care way too much about what random people in a chat say.

Talk about childish. You're going to leave a game that you find entertaining because you are unable to ignore what some nobody in general chat says? Get over yourself.

I have been reporting and ignoring people a few years now. After you have done it for so long you realize that there is no stopping it and people just keep on coming and coming. So what do you do? You simply resign.

I have played WoW for years and rarely encountered such player behavior.

This is a bunch of hogwash. If you take anything away from a kid and its something they like they are going to have a temper tantrum. That's a kid being a kid.

Yes, sure, but the reaction with electronic equipment such as ipads, playstation etc creates a much bigger aggressive reaction. I mean its my job to work with kids, I have been witness to this for decades so I do know a lot about it.
