  1. Funny.... I hear about many people who are pretty capped out on upgrading their toons but are really just getting into ground PVP or GSF. Especially GSF is very well designed in terms of progression, giving people meaningful and visible goals to work towards.

Since I took a break a while back to play Mechwarrior Online and Final Fantasy XII, there is PLENTY for me to do even before we start talking about alts and PVP.

If you've been a moderate player since launch I don't think that's really plausible. By the time GSF hit a person playing roughly 5 hours a week will easily have 2-3 max level toons that are HM capable including a main that is well geared, probably 1 character valor 70+ and a couple more in the 40s or 50s from leveling and messing around.

I played GSF for a month or two after launch and mastered 2 fighters pretty easily. It's pretty fun but doesn't have the depth of the ground PvP; it's lacking maps, modes, and combat intricacies found in the ground game. It's fun but just a super mini-game that can easily be monetized.

  2. Two things: yes, the VA and good story HAS ruined other MMOs for people like me, and no, rushing to level cap isn't really an issue. I mean, if you skip through the story for a class you haven't yet played you're a total dufus, but people have been at max level for a long time. TOR is entering the phase of maturity, and while alts certainly will continue to be levelled, having a main at cap is common. If you spend a lot of time in game, there seems to be insufficient content if you don't partake in all aspects of the game consistently.

If you've been here since launch then partaking in all aspects will have left you dry about a year ago. There's been nothing new that a person playing 5-6 hours a week since launch could do.

  3. It's a single player "friendly" MMO. It is by no means strictly a single player MMO. There is plenty of group activity going on at any point in time in game.... though it may not be PUG style (which, unfortunately, other MMOs have conditioned the MMO player base to expect and depend on).

There is absolutely no doubt that the approach to story arcs in SWTOR has ruined other MMOs for players who enjoy the story arc approach. This aspect really is night and day between SWTOR and other MMOs. Not everyone does appreciate the story arcs though... we have plenty of self-admitted space_bar jockeys that have played or are still playing the game. Most are impatient anxious individuals who really just want to get to cap level ASAP so they can hit the wall early on content.

You're pretty delusional. SWTOR has a great story but I doubt it has ruined the story for other MMO's. Moreover, it's asinine to hear you talk about rushing to the level cap and hitting the wall when the game has been out for more than 2.5 years.

  4. I can only go by what you wrote. Write better next time. Don't present lack of hard core content as cause and then deny it is the cause. That's circular reasoning.

You specifically emphasized the lack of hard core content... by presenting your guilds hardcore successes, and how a lack of new hardcore for success has incapacitated your guilds ability to even run them anymore through player attrition in your guild. So, apparently you went rogue and off-topic in your own post.

And here's a clue for you ----> I never claimed there were not any new hardcore OPs.. that is a given. It's what you personally do with that fact and about it that matters. You can of course complain publicly in gaming forums if you like... but it changes nothing. All it really does is self-reinforce your own unhappiness. Take charge of you happiness in game play IMO... make changes at your end to find your happy-face.

And your attempt at a narrative that there has been no end game content of any kind, not just hardmode OPs... that does not hold water. I see plenty of cap level players in game every day, in my guild and out of my guild, that are active, having fun, and enjoying each new patch for what it offers.

I did not focus on hardcore; I focused on operations in general, daily zones, etc. The most recent "content" is NiM so it was a part of the post. Next time read or think it through a bit before you decide to white knight it.

  5. By your own words:

You have an odd definition of "casual". Casual maybe... by WoW or EQ definition... but not by any means casual for this MMO.

    And to note:

You can't hold a casual guild together because the hard core raiding sucks? That is precisely what happens when you recruit for a particular segment of game play that is not fed by the MMO to your desired needs.

Just be honest. You want permission to leave to play something else because you are for whatever reason, not having fun (as you define fun). Yet you are apparently still enjoying the game at a personal level, so maybe find yourself a new guild that better meets your personal needs. Or better yet... try some of the greener grass on the other side of the fence. You can always come back to SWTOR later when they release content you crave.

Thing is.. you don't need anyone's permission but your own.

And yes... other guilds are in the same spot in some cases....because they want more of something then the game is offering. But you know what..... having played different MMOs for years... your complaint is not new.... nor novel. I've seen it in every MMO gaming forum, including WoW.

Guilds flounder for a lot of reasons. Since you brought a guild over from AoC.. and it has since withered... then maybe go wherever the rest of them went... so you can have fun instead of complaining and being unhappy.

Be reasonable with yourself. You cannot complain content into an MMO. It either meets your requirements or it does not. Personally, I have yet to see an MMO that meets all my requirements. But I don't complain about it, I simply expand my MMO play... playing a couple or three at a time... each for it's strengths and as it suits my personal mood. I am guilded in three different MMOs right now.. and I spend time in each... playing what I enjoy and avoiding anything that does not meet my requirements. You can do the same.. which would empower your play time and fun, rather then pretending like you are being slighted by the MMO company because the content they release is not what you prefer.

You don't seem to understand what a "mix" is with casual being the focus. We raided with progression as a goal 3-4 hours a week (2 nights) with no strict rules on DPS, attendance, and gear. That is not hard core, that is hard core nights; kind of. Our guild was floundering not because we lack NiM or hard core raiding, it's because there's no new raiding or daily zone/end game content in general, as most our raiding nights were geared toward a light atmosphere as to enjoy the game.

Don't try to project meaning on my words. There has been no new end game content, hard core raiding or not, in several months and this is destroying most guilds moderately invested in end game operations, faction-dailies, and pvp.

  6. Annnnnd thread.

Honestly I think they don't even really know what they want out of this game. End game is kind of lacking on the PvE as well as PvP fronts. Queues are way to long for both FP/Ops and Warzones. People are just rerolling classes for the story and not really end gaming(?). Not sure how GSF is doing, not including the double rewards event going on, in terms of queues popping. But all they really need to do there is possibly add joysticks of some sort. 99 problems and Bioware can't wrestle one of them right now.

If only we were hard core that quote would be valid, but we're not. We just played the game and now there's been nothing to do for 10 months. It's not a hard core problem, it's a casual been playing since launch problem.

  7. I made that post on reddit, and it's not a 1%'er blowing through content problem. I'm sick of reading that from fanboys.

Our guild was not hard core. We did not spend more than 3-4 hours a week raiding progression, and we never blew through HM in a month. We were just a regular group of dedicated gamers who ran a even-keeled guild and enjoyed the game. Everything about the alts, the progression, the valor, and the credits may seem like insane person online 24-7 but it's not even close to that. You can get a lot done if you play a few nights a week for 3 years. With no new raids, no new daily zones, and no new content except a couple ****** tactical flash-points you will kill the game for long time subscribers who are mostly casual in their end game approach.

The truth is that Bioware can't monetize raids and they take too much time to develop vs. reskinning armor that's been in the game for 3 years and then selling it for 5 dollars. I understand that they'll do a lot with the Cartel Market but they're disrespecting the subscribers who have been there for them since launch with these inexcusable PvE content cycles.

  8. You can't get "screwed over' on the Test Server. :rolleyes:It is made for testing only... anyone who tries to stake a permanent residence there is just setting themselves up for a major disappointment and has no one else to blame.

Yeah, it's funny how people don't quite understand the nature of a Test Server.

  9. my tank is around 46k fully buffed. The only high endurance i use is the b mods(robust/reinforced). for that extra 1500k hp then a .045% mitigation. 45k does not mean low mitigation for w/e reason you think. the BiS is around 2600+ or so for a stat budget. i am around that point in 78s even in my b mods.

full 78s you'll be around 43k+ ..41k you are either still in 72/75/78s. (that's where my jug is currently in)

One of the tanks i play with is all endurance(aug's also) + mitigation mods/enhancements mixed in, its personal play and he is an exceptionally good tank. endurance is never worse, if your healers or your play-style can handle it.

More endurance is almost always worse, and 46K means you're poorly itemized on a SinTank. Now there's no content that it really matters for, but stacking endurance hasn't been smart since like 1.6 or however long ago.

  10. Not really at all. You can't crit when making armor, and get 2 pieces for the cost of one set of mats. All you can get is the free augment slot. Even then, the sell price isn't automatically double the non crit result. That was the point of that post, making your mats stretch as far as possible.

And as I mentioned, armor/weapon crafters have to contend with the Cartel Market, Reputation vendors and quest drops for gear looks. I feel pretty confident (based on nothing more then observation on my server only) that most individuals looks are gear pieces obtained via the Cartel Market and Rep vendors already. So selling those wares in volume (compared to my example items) is difficult.

So in the end, with my example, only other crafters are working "against" you in trying to sell those specific wares, rather then the alternative of crafters, vendors, quests and the cartel market working against you if your selling armor/weapons.

It's a easy and rather inexpensive investment to get setup and start making money in game.

The problem is everyone else is doing the same thing, and products that crit for double are selling for less than the raw mats cost and that's not even counting commission. Your assumption is that the market is ignorant to the fact that they're getting double the product for the same mats when in fact sellers flooding these markets are aware of this and pricing accordingly. It still makes money but not considerably more than just crafting armor. The smartest thing is to do both. I personally have made hundreds of millions of credits selling armor and augments for Synthweaving/Armormech.

Selling armor is very profitable if you have desirable schematics or have taken the time to unlock the best combinations of purple gear. For the most part it's more enjoyable because the market is steadier than augments, and you don't have to constantly price check and undercut.

  11. They killed it pretty hard. I still make just under a mil a day if I feel like dealing with it, but it's a pain. You can sit and pound out augments for big profits if you want to keep up with the Jones' every 6 hours.

In reality, it's not the cartel market that killed the big money makers, it's the combination of giving away sets of 66 [Artifact] to anyone who levels Oricon, and removal of Isotope requirement and cutting the price in half on Basic Com recipes.

  12. A simple way to turn profit from mats, is to just craft things that can get you multiple items when you crit during its production.

Armor and Weapons can make money, sure. But once someone finds a look they like, they only need that one chest piece, one maybe two weapons etc. Not to mention your fighting with Cartel Market Items and quest drops in terms of producing a look someone wants. But regardless of looks, everyone needs 14 Augments per toon. They need one or more Augment Kits every time they change their look. Tanks who have a DPS sets and a Tank set will need 28 Augments per toon and even more Augment Kits.

Augments and Augment Kits are both things where you can crit during production and get free items for the same ammount of mats.

So take Augments, as example. (prices are for sake of discussion as every servers GTN is different). Lets say you buy Thermal Regs from the GTN for 25K each. Thats ~103k to make a Purple quality Augment (the extra 3k accounting for the 2/2/2 Scavenging/Archeology mats if you obtain them purely from crew missions). Those same augments can sell for 125K or more. So after GTN taxes its more like n 15k profit per item (accounting for the 6% the GTN takes). But every time you crit, its an extra 115k in your pocket. So with one set of mats, you can total 130k profit or more.

That's not even getting into the Blue quality Augments, that while they sell for much less, their profit margins are typically much higher and still sell in volume.

If you take the time to look at what companions can make what, you can find that all the skills that can craft augments have a companion that gets a +5 crit chance for that craft. Add in legacy crafting and max affection, and you have a very high crit rate. Your ship droid can also be given a bonus to crit with certain crafts as well.

Augment Kits function the same way. Warriors and Knights both have +5 to Synth Crit and you can buy your ship droid +5 to Synth crit as well. So Q up 10 Kits at a time and come back in an hour to several crits making you loads of free cash.

All the same can be said for armor. People change their look, people have DPS sets, etc.
