  1. Actually an article that actually was published in Forbes this week said that World of Warcraft was Activision/Blizzard's "Achilies Heel". Almost 30% of their income comes from 1 game. World of Warcraft. A 25% drop in subscriber numbers would amount to nearly 1/2 billion dollars in lost revenue for the company, and Call of Duty can't hope to fill in the gap

Based on the current downward trend of WoW subscribers this year, Activision's Stock Price is likely to drop $7 per share.

(disclaimer: These are not my ideas. You can read the article in forbes.)

  2. People in this thread are over-reacting. You don't need xp boost in normal play. You need them for leveling alts. If you wanted them to be global unlocks the price would be about 8 times higher then they are right now.

The rest of the stuff is mainly convenience items put in place to make it easier for you while you play. In fact you end up paying less with this set-up because you only need to pay for the perks you intend to use on each character.

  3. Yeah, I'm sure that works great on the training dummies. Have you ever even been in a WZ against geared opponents? Seriously, you wouldn't survive 5 seconds in a ranked WZ let alone 15

All three of those abilities are instant Cast. Unlike abilities your used to using, they can't be intrupted. It doesn't matter if it's on training dummy or a live target. The only way to prevent being hit by all 3 abilities when used in succession is to line of sight the Merc/Trooper within 3 seconds of the attack, or to blow a stun to deny the full rotation.

It's pretty much the standard rotation for PVP and PVE when using that tree.

  4. Here is something to keep in mind:

You can grind Black Talon and Esseles for DS and LS points. So Don't worry about it for now and play how you are if that is the way you want to play. You will always have to option of grinding alignment after you hit 50. :)

Grinding alignment is a waste of time, if you have to grind a lot of it.

You can get better relics that don't require alignments by putting down 22,000 credits at the Recruit PVP vendor and buying 2 Champion Relics as soon as you hit 50.

  5. So this idea came to me in a dream last night.

I was cruising the swtor.com website and there was video posted with some team people I've never seen or heard before on camera talking about a future level cap raise and an expansion of the game.

The part I remember real well, is this funny PTS event.

So basically what happened was this. There is a level cap increase. And it was a weekend event.

So for this one weekend, the level cap is being introduced with a bunch of new content to level up with. But, the catch was that during this 1 weekend, no character's progress in the PTS would be updated on the server. So if you ever logged out, all your character's progress would reset.

So the idea was there would be this character standing around GM rights at the fleets on the Republic and Empire side. And if you reached the new max level during the weekend, the GM would take a screen shot of your character at the new level cap and give you an special title.

So what I remember is the people on the video where showing off different screen shots of people who reached the new level cap over the course of the weekend. Most of the screen shots where of characters that were clearly in Raid gear from previous content, who worked in a party to the whole time to reach the level cap as efficiently as possible.

In general I felt the whole thing was kind of awesome and it made me excited to try out the new content.

The one image I remember the most though was that Cathar's were being introduced in the same build, and someone had managed to start a new Female Cathar Jedi Sage and level all the way to the to cap.

What was funny about it though is that instead of imagining the Cathar they way the appear in game, The character had King's head from Tekken. The image really funny looking and probably contributed to me remembering this part of the dream.

My dream last night was firing off in a bunch of different directions last night so if it wasn't for this one image. I might not have remembered any of it.

  6. I dont know what article you are reading but how can you say its from 2010 when swtor wasnt even out for a year after that? Also it mentions swtor going f2p in july. How did they know that back in 2010?

The sources for the article are listed at the bottom of the page.

One of those sources is an investment report from a brokerage company written in 3/10/2010. The report stated that EA was planning on getting additional revenue from SW:TOR from micro-transactions after launch.

None of the sources listed in the Yahoo article are official sources from Bioware or EA.

Yahoo.com is not an official news source, and sometimes their articles aren't edited and looked at with as much scrutiny as you would find in other sources.

  7. I checked Yahoo's sources. This isn't credible.

The guy who wrote the article was citing an investment report dated 3/10/2010. That was more than 2 years ago, and in terms of the source of the information, the report was created by an outside company.

None of his other sources support the claims made, although I don't doubt that there will be some form of micro-transactions in the future.

Take the article with a grain of salt.

  8. Hylo Visz to Jedi Consular

    1. Hylo Visz's partner and possibly former love interest is Tyresius Lokai.

    2. Tyresius was hunted down by the Bounty Hunter as part of the Great Hunt, after being captured he changed his name to Gault and became one of the Bounty Hunter's companions.

    3. Mako is one of the bounty hunter's companions.

    4. Mako was adopted by/worked with Braden, a retired Bounty Hunter.

    5. One of Braden's former associates was Qyzen Fess.

    6. Qyzen Fess is one of the companions of the Jedi Counsular.

  9. Here is the link to the G4 swtor video

What i dont understand or maybe its just me. He says the space game is swtor is Extreamly popular. Is it really?

I find it to be boring. Anybody else think the space game is popular?

Yeah, I usually do at least my space daily every day. Its almost therapeutic. Its like Yoga with freaking laser beams.

  10. The main issue with this game is the content release schedule seems to be a bit long.

There are people even on my server who are just now getting into HM EV and KP and Story Denova. But I've been raiding on the edge of content for weeks. If I didn't change factions post 1.2 I'd be in full Campaign gear by now. If your just now hitting level 50, and starting operations, and your having higher geared players run you through content, You've got a good 2 or 3 month lead time before you catch up right now, maybe add another month once they come out with Nightmare Denova.

The problem is you run out of operation content to keep running once your on the edge.

My current guild only logging in right now to do a few hours of operations each week and then they're off doing other stuff until next week. And they're almost done gearing too. I've got a few more weeks of running Hardmode Denova before I get all of my Campign gear, but in a few weeks I'll have everything I need too.

Bioware's only major shortfall is they haven't given us enough reason to log in every day.

  11. I'm currently playing on PTS on a character named Barbaroso.

So anyhow I looted these blue level 13 Bounty Hunter boots and figured I'd try to sell them through Gen chat before putting them on the GTN.

Only when I tried to "shift+left click" the item the game acted as if I had simply simply "left clicked" then item.

  12. Certain people may be referring to a leak that happened months ago

1.3 in the leak is now 1.4.

The 1.3 we're getting soon is more an emergency, quality of life, feature's patch that they needed to implement before they could continue on with what they were planning on doing originally.

  13. From the article:

    Star Wars: The Old Republic

The critically-acclaimed, story-driven MMO from BioWare and LucasArts will continue to expand in 2012, with new game content and refined gameplay features the community has been asking for — more PvP, more high-level group content, new social features and new storylines for players to explore.

Sounds very good to me. We'll probably also get dates for transfers and 1.3 then, which would explain why they are currently keeping us in the dark.

Why would they wait till E-3 just to announce that? Sure it's something we want, but it isn't something that would excite a.) People who purchased the and might have unsubbed or b.) People who tried the game yet and might be on the fence about trying it out. It would be a waisted opportunity to go to E-3 and now have a big future set piece or new content to show off. Something like a new Operations, Warzones, Flashpoints, and possibly teaser for an expansion.

  14. They do raise an interesting point though. Going forward, is Bioware going to be able to maintain the 4th pillar idea of heavy story emphasis, potentially at the loss of other areas of the game, or are they going to have to abandon the 4th pillar in order to devote those resources to aspects like endgame PVE and PVP.

There was no speculation on the size of Bioware's resource pool, but still it is an interesting point. If the decision to have to do one or the other was dropped in front of them, which would they choose?

    Not going to happen.

When times get tough you fall back on your strengths, and the leveling process is some of the best material in the game. In fact it's so good that it inspires most people to level characters strait through the max level instead of trying out a bunch of different alts at once.

  15. I had a really hard time with this fight personally. I hadn't used T7 since mid-way through Coruscant and hadn't upgraded his gear. I'm pretty sure T7 was still using his original main-hand weapon even. Needless to say he was of almost no help. Anyhow a to finish off the Emperor I eventually broke down to using on my old bounty Hunter tricks. You know the pillars at the top of the stairs? You can actually just use those to repeatedly break line of sight with the Emperor once he starts using his big attacks and that always interrupts his casts even if you kick/force push/Stasis is on cooldown.
