  1. I was talking pre nerf not post. Sorcs CANNOT hit for 4k in any sort of cindition without stacking relics+ stims+reck ( i would know im a full dps build in full bm gear) against anyone in any sensible pvp gear so dont post ****. "strong sustained aoe" you mean that cl thats only triggerable through wrath for madness hybrids.. which requires fl spam and still has a 6sec cd.. or you mean that force storm which hits targets for about 500 dps?

doesnt make a difference how good the utility is every class has good aoe. there are videos of warriors and jedi in current state doing 7k+ aoe swipes on players in decent gear. you think thats ok but not sorc aoe?

why does changing the title weaken the argument? it shows the op is twisting the post each time to his own agenda to try and keep a reaction from the playerbase. it makes a huge difference considering 90% of posters probably havnt even read the OP or have read the part which they agree with and ignore the rest IN RELATIoN TO THE TITLE.

as for your representation remark.. why are you bothing to qq then if thats your opinion? by your logic they wont do anything anyway so whats the point in all the crying on forums by players?

Which was exactly the same requirement for a Smuggler to hit 5.5k pre-nerf and they could only do it once per encounter if their 2m cool down wasn't up.

  2. incorrect. smugg/op where hitting 8k+ from stealth on a 4seconds knockdown.. that is clearly op. Remember bioware have the figure that we do not as well as the analytical data. player representation wont affect anything. if anything a nerf will move players onto other classes balancing the population. the high visibility of sorcs/sages and representation probably doesnt help the nerf threads as when there is a lot of one class ppl qq and cry nerf.

the class also isnt out of balance. if anything one minor talent isnt working as intended as such. something as simple as making the blind only work when cast on self would fix a lot of issues.

as to the argument its not great. this thread has been going on far too long and the op has shown a lot of times his bias in the matter throughout the last two full threads on the issue. the fact hes asked for the title to be changed twice says everything.

1 sorc on their own isnt an issue. 2 isnt either.. loads of them are but thats an issue bioware need to adress to make other classes more appealing and nerfing the crap out of one class just isnt the answer. the more they ignore the nerf threads the more hope i have that bioware wont turn into another blizzard controlled by player qq on the forums

    A lot of misinformation here,

    1) Smuggler/Op was only hitting 8k out of stealth with a crit, full BM, full buffs, full bio stims pre-nerf and pvp buff. The actual crit post the nerf capped out at 6k and was more likely around 5k, sorcs can hit 4k in pretty standard conditions without the stealth requirements as they currently stand and have very strong sustained AoE which, contrary to some sorc claims, is very useful in most PvP encounters.

    2) Representation does matter because, for better or worse, people will quit post nerfs. Bioware needs to show strong sub numbers for a sustained period of time to demonstrate success (for investors) and angering a base of players that by some polls represents close to 50% of the total population is way too risky at this point.

    3) Explain to me the rationale for why changing the title weakens the argument? The underlying argument hasn't changed, the title change just helps clarify the exact argument.

  3. Ow gawd, another nonsense about 31/31/31 build.

BW nerf that problematic build so we can put this thread to rest lol.

I guess everyone but OP and some other guy knows that his build sucks and nobody in their right mind uses it lol.

And again some random anegdotal numbers thrown for amusement of general public :D

Not to mention OP plays a class that tears throug sorc/sage (and any other class) like butter regardless of spec, which makes thread even more funny :D

Anegdotal... nice, now I can completely disregard your post. This is probably the best laid out argument for how advantaged sage/sorc is at this point in time for PvP, I'm hopping BW takes note.

I'm still of the opinion that because the majority of the player base is sage/sorc and because most of the dev team plays sage/sorc, they're unlikely to make the required changes to the class to bring it back into balance.

Nerfing Smuggler/Op was easy because very few people played the class. Sage/sorc is a completely different ball game.

  4. Hey, I play on Tomb of Freedonn Nadd and have recently tried to accomplish high-amounts of damage in the Voidstar Warzone.

Unfortunately, All the warzones which had good condition ended too fast, so I had to attempt my best in warzones with bad conditions for huge AoE outputs, as well as good target-selection for dots.

For this warzone in which the screenshot was taken, I didn't manage to do dmg and stay alive throughout all the 15 mins. I was actually only damaging in about 11 of the minutes. So I am extremely satisfied with this result.

I will update this thread when I hit 1.000.000, including 1.100k and 1.200k, which I believe is possible.

    EDIT:

It wasn't the intention to summon upon a lot of QQ and TT in this post, as I didn't create thread knowing that there wouldn't be whiners, but I can read in the comments that by far the most ppl here reads my post, looks at the screenshot, and sees that it's too much compared to what they can do, or they just whine because they think that the sorc is OP in general.

Obviously none of you have any clue what you talk about.

No, I don't use AoE damage. I actually use AoE by minority of the time spend doing damage.

No, I don't use 2 buttons only. I rather use 25 buttons with an APM above 200 throughout 15 minutes.

No, I'm not sharing my spec.

I also doubt that any of you knows the requirements of doing this even in solo-queue random warzones. I also doubt that this much damage can be accomplished by any sorc.

I'd appreciate if the tone in this thread is kept neutral, otherwise I remove the thread.

Shouldn't have used APM in a post on an MMO, now everyone will know you're an idiot.

  5. I don't understand this argument of "Because the damage is AOE it isn't useful". The outcome of any engagement is a matter of damage output vs. healing output at it's core, and that can be influenced by a number of factors including CC/Burst/etc. AOE damage output can be very effective in putting stress on healers and their force bar in any encounter, particularly given the (generally) longer engagements in SWTOR vs. some other MMOs. In many situations, particularly on voidstar when people tend to congregate in one area, AOE output can be very effective or the primary determinant in who comes out on top.

Just because Sage/Sorc can't burst someone down doesn't mean their damage is worthless, that's what Smugg/Op is for.

  6. You're right, the imperials are wayyyy favored because they have a color crystal that I can't get!

... oh, you mean we republic players have one they can't get as well?

... what do you mean I can roll one republic character and 7 imperial players if I want to so I can get a ton of purple crystals?

Well, the imperials are still favored. Because I don't like compromise.

Except preference is clearly for the purple sabers by the majority of player base due to the massive amount of whining on this issue.

...and the massive imbalance in initial skills by mirror classes that favored imperials 100% of the time

...or the war zone mechanics that always worked against republic in favor of the imperials

but yah, agree, not biased at all.

  7. I'm still waiting to hear when this is going to be adjusted or some sort of logic behind it. Problem is there is no logic to it, no one can defend it and yet there's no mention of it by Bioware.

Why would they adjust it, the entire development team pretty much plays Sorc, of course they'll leave the field biased in their favor...

  8. Read through this carefully, I think you'll find it quite interesting. Above all, it's all facts.

They sold 1.75 million copies in December. 1.7 million activated their accounts in December.

The financial statement cut-off date was 12/31/2011. The first subscription could not end before 01/20/2012.

What you're seeing is what appears to be a deliberate mis-representation by BioWare/EA. What they're supposed to do is use, as we call it in he Certified Public Accounting profession, a SUBSEQUENT EVENTS DISCLOSURE under FASB 165:

FASB Statement no. 165, Subsequent Events disclosures are required for interim and annual periods ending after June 15, 2009. The standard requires the disclosure of the date through which an entity has evaluated subsequent events and whether that represents the date the financial statements were issued or were available to be issued.

You see, some of us do this for a living. And, unlike you, we know the rules and what we're talking about. The 1.7 million subs is nothing more than an accouting and reporting artifact. One that was not properly footnoted or disclosed for the obvious subsequent events of the failure to renew events of late January which should be in the 'subsequent event' period.

    But it gets better....

Something else, rather sleazy, that I noticed BioWare doing... As of February 3rd, 2012, they lowered the population necessary to get out of 'light' server load population and into moderate. They also lowered the cap when it came to heavy.

In one day the 'heavy' load went from 3% of server time to 30% of server time. One day. The FULL cap was not changed and it still averages less than 1% of server time and it only happens on Saturday's now.

So when YOU log in and see 'moderate' or 'heavy' populations in your server list.... You're being lied to... The redefinded them down, and by quite a bit...

True, but what do you expect from a company that's run by a guy who should be in prison. John Riccitiello bailed himself out of a dying business when EA acquired Bioware/Pandemic from the private equity firm he worked for and still had ownership interest in, and then shut Pandemic down a year late (200M was attributable to pandemic in the acquisition).

Everyone in the investing community knows that EA is managed by a bunch of lying crooks, not a surprise that they'd get creative with the accounting and disclosures.

  9. Yeah they nerfed the Op so you weren't dead before his stun was up, now you get 10% health to kill him haha it's still a joke. Op stuns you, you pop your trinket here, he's going to Kick your arse to the ground around 1.5 seconds going down and another 1.5 seconds standing up but that time your still going to have 10% health. If you wait for the first stun and pop your trinket on the knocking you to the ground you still down and even know you pop your trinket you got to stand up another 1.5 seconds. Same result. If Some were in there you pop trinket and all defensive cool downs you will have around 15-20% health and any Op with a tiny bit of skill with take that in seconds. BTW I'm talking in the 50 bracket similar champion gear. Pretty much if a Op opens up on you and your not a geared tank you got seconds to live

So what you're telling me is... you're bad?

  10. why did they fix it?

ps several people had stated they'd logged tickets and received replies from Bioware gm's stating it was a game mechanic not an exploit

Actually, they said that the instant kill was an intended mechanic, they said nothing about the lack of scoring when the carrier cross the line which was obviously not working as intended. Glad they fixed it, was out of control on my server.

  11. Seeing as players can't hang out in the spawn area and guard I'm ok with this.

Its just one of those happy accidents of the battle field. If your about to score just as an assassin or trooper with pull gets respawned... and they get let out of the cage... and they have yet to run into the match... its not like its a chain of events people are lining up is my point. I don't know I play too have fun myself... and getting killed this way would likely have me laughing for 20 min... all good. :)

Actually, they can. Bioware did state that the kill mechanic is working as intended so people can't get up there and camp the spawn. That said, it's pretty clear that the no score mechanic is not working as intended, essentially the height of the goal line is too low and so doesn't registered if you're pulled above it.

I'm hoping they fix this relatively soon, it's an absolutely idiotic element to Huttball.

  12. Before anyone says 'this is why you don't pug' this isnt an anti pug rant. I actually met my guild mates via pugging in this game and until last night it has been a blast pugging.

Ran HM BP, not sure about everyone else but RNG has hated me since day 1. BH gear/Merc gear does not drop for my groups. First boss drops the end + 300 power clicky relic. First pieces I have seen in nearly 40 HM's. I roll need. Sith Jug tank rolls need. Sith Sorc healer rolls need. Sorc wins. Being a pug, i bite my tongue, its what i get for pugging. I mention it in my guild chat, ' that blows, damn sorry bud' whatever and on we go. A few minutes later the sorc whispers me ' hey i only rolled need on it because you rolled against my husband, who rolls against a tank? you deserved to lose it' Again, I dont respond, its childish its petty, but it got me thinking.

We get to the end, kill the storm squad, and wouldnt you know it, the sith inquis glove token drops. I debated and debated on hitting need, just to say "eff you" but alas I didnt.

After sifting through the forums, I see the threads about people needing off class items for their companions, taking gear that the people in the group actually needed.. is this where we are now?

She's in the wrong, who roles against a tank? What a dumb *** comment. It's not even a "Tank" trinket given that the only PvE stats you'll get on a trink are endurance and it has the +power cooldown.

I would have told her to go **** herself and rolled need on everything post her comment.

  13. As a dps sorc, it would take over 5 casts of my most powerful heal to get me from sub 10% health to full and at 3 seconds a cast would take 15 seconds (longer then just out of combat free heal everyone has) and would drain all my force in the process.

    You really have no clue.

Which is still better than non-specced healers can manage. The shield also effectively functions as a heal which puts them over the top of the other classes.

  14. Quoting my own post, to make sure the OP reads it a second time.

Couple misconceptions, the ticket that was linked only stated that the insta-gib is working as intended, not that the no credit is working as intended. Hopefully they'll increase the height on the goal line so this is no longer an issue.

Second, you can reset the afk debuff and remain on the lip overlooking the goal line, so yes, you can sit up there indefinitely as a trooper and prevent all goal attempts (as long as the person doesn't have full resolve).

  15. I fail to see why they need a nerf at this point. BH/Commando would need one long before sorc/sage.

Too much utility vs. other classes (knock back, blind [talented], cc, speed boost, shields), plus their healing output untalented is significantly better than the other healing classes and probably needs to be toned down (basically, decrease the base and increase benefits from talenting).

  16. Hi Supercaptain,

First of all I would like to say "Welcome to PvP combat in SWTOR!" Since you're a new PvP player, you will find that PvP (stands for Player vs Player) combat is very challenging, but also very exciting! Its clear from your post that you die a lot, but please do not be discouraged by that. Unlike PvE (Player vs Environment), where you only die rarely if you make a mistake, in PvP dying is extremely common, espeically for new players like yourself.

Now, you should also realize that, since you're a new PvPer, you really don't have a lot of insight into all the classes and how they work. This is something you can work on. There are several ways you can improve your knowledge of the game and of the various classes and skills.

    1. PvP more. Nothing beats experience for learning how things work. The more you PvP, the more you'll learn about all the classes and abilities.

    2. Online information. There are websites, wikis and guild sites with lots of great information online about each class, and what their skills and abilities are. By studying this information, you will have the knowledge you need to improve your PvP experience.

    3. Walk a mile in their shoes. You have 8 character slots. Use them. Roll up other classes, get them to level 10, and queue for PvP with them for a few dozen matches. Get the feel of what its like to play the class in PvP. Then, when you go back to your main, you will be better prepared to face them.

I hope this advice is useful to you, and I hope that once you learn how to PvP, you'll come to enjoy it as much as us veterans do!

    Have a fantastic day!

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=154012

You can call people inexperienced and deny all you want but it's fairly clear that they will get hit with the nerf bat, not because it's deserved but because BW uses the quantity of forum complaints in their class design decisions.

I'm 40 Valor Scoundrel on Keller's Void in mostly champ gear and I pretty much only PvP in premades. The massive amount of complaints around tracer round 4 shotting reminds me of the constant ************ regarding scoundrels killing people in 3 gcds, which never happens.

Regardless, BW still went for the nerf, and they'll cave on this issue as well.

I do feel bad for you, but hopefully the upcoming adjustment will teach a few mercs the consequences of nonsensical ************ on the forums.

  17. Sorry, Now you'll need to actually work to get kills... No more 8.5k Crit then 4k and 4k befor I stand up...

I don't feel bad for you... Some skill will now be required.

Most Operatives get people under 3k health befor the stand up.. Why would this NOT be broken?

I can kill Sorc's... Not a big issue.

Powertech's are annoying, thats about it...

Operatives are just stupid with their openers..

You picked Operative after you realized it was OP... why would anyone feel bad for these people...

Hey look, another faceless forum goer making up damage numbers. Let me help you out.

Best case opening salve = 6.5k 2k 2k, now you have a full resolve bar

Lying has really got to stop here

  18. Good Sorcs are beaten by good players.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand that it's more you than the design. Some things may be unbalanced, but nothing is totally out of whack. Why don't you run some matches with a VR 60+ sorc, and talk to them about what gives them problems? Try and learn.

Good Operatives are beaten by good players. Didn't stop BW from kicking the **** out of us and probably won't stop them from kicking the **** out of sorcs and mercs.

  19. Just saying.......I call BULL@#$@ to anyone saying they were 4 shot by tracer missle, or a BH in general.....

    Show me pics.

No one was ever killed within the 3 second stun on Op/Scoundrel backstab but that didn't stop people from ************ and lying constantly on the forums until BW capitulated and nerf the class.

Now you know how it feels, next will be Sage/Sorc

  20. So just to recap: we were supposed to assume the relics that were on the PvP vendor, that we purchase with items gained from a PvP bag... are not intended for PvP?

Does trolling come with a good dental plan? I'm thinking of giving it a go.

Seriously, it's a god damn token with no other worth than being spent. Were we supposed to implicitly know it would be fixed? Just let it sit in our bag? Throw it out because it sucked?

    What should we have done?
