  1. Truthfully, burn out happens in all games. No matter the genre or game, at some point we all take a step back and say: Enough. It's not that the game is bad or the player is angry, it's just time. I don't blame you for feeling this way and will wish you Godspeed and phat loots.

The greatest thing about MMO's is they are always here when/if you come back. Having played dozens of MMO's in my time, I get burned out on one particular game and switch to another for a while, maybe even switch off to yet another. When I feel the need for the game, I can go back to it, no harm, no foul.

    Good luck!

  2. It is yet another in a long line of boring and lifeless themepark MMOs.

Sandbox MMOs are so much more alive. Player economies make the world feel real, and there is so much more random interaction between people. Gear/reward based progression, carrot on a stick, is just so flawed and pointless. So many things I could list that are better in sandbox MMOs, but my point is made.

Themepark MMOs suck. Bring on the next generation of sandbox MMOs!

What's the name of the Sandbox game you designed? Or is it a Themepark game? Did you design a game at all? Oh, this is an uneducated OPINION. Maybe a personally experienced opinion, but an uneducated one.

  3. You have a severe deficit in reading comprehension. I did not say that using RivaTuner kills video cards ipso facto, but that it *can* be *used* to make them malfunction (e.g., through excessive overclocking).

Regardless, I was refuting the statement that third party software cannot cause a graphics card to malfunction. RivaTuner can indeed be used to cause such hardware malfunction. Refutation successful. Thanks for reading.

And we all said the same thing: The user would have to make changes to said software in order for it to cause failure. It doesn't load, then randomly FUBAR a graphics card.

  4. He was playing a Bounty Hunter and until he received his companion everything was going smoothly but once he saw Mako he looked at me and starting tearing up. He had a little much to drink, but I could tell that Mako reminded him of somebody special.

Mako made him think of his Ex-wife.

He slammed his face down on my keyboard in his drunken rage and vomited all over the keyboard (thankfully had a spare from my old P4 computer.) I moved him over to the couch where he's sleeping peacefully, but he told me he was done with the game.

For a suggestion, I would ask that Mako be less like my father's friends ex-wife. Thanks.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw him pass out drunk at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

  5. Yeah, that word doesn't mean what you think it means. Perhaps you should consult Google or a dictionary before you further embarrass yourself here.

This is recokulous! You're trying to besmirchify my attitudity!

  6. The recent patch has been causing damage to players' graphics cards. I'm sure it's in the EULA that users accept liability for system damage sustained while running the game (as it is in pretty much every game's EULA), but isn't this taking advantage of the customer? It's unreasonable to expect consumers to buy software at the risk of hundreds of dollars of equipment damage. If a car manufacturer puts out a product with faulty brakes, they get called on it, issue a recall, and compensate customers for any related damages (that includes property).

I get that we won't see a dime in compensation for the damage to our systems from SWTOR, but what can we do to change the PC game industry's practice of putting all liability on the consumer?

Awesome! Software code is causing hardware damage.

Yeah, worst. Troll Evar! Go back to your bridge with this nonsense.

  7. I quit because when leveling my second character I'd already seen all the quests and playing the game put me to sleep.

And as for level 50 content, well I've finished the story line and have nothing left but pvp and I pretty much suck.

    I fixed that for ya.

  8. Sorry I stopped reading after the first sentence. Your remarks were uncalled for, rude, obnoxious and immature. Next time present your ideas without the preamble.

I'm sorry you took them personally, I thought all of their (your?) kind followed through with the threats and actually quit. I truthfully didn't expect any of them to hang around past the 30 day mark.

  9. Someone needs to check their settings. There is an aoe loot option.

That post came from 'another game' forum. He pointing out whining happens in all games.

And, after today, for all weekend, TOR will be script kiddie free*! YAY!

*this is assuming they actually followed through on their threat to quit the game.

  10. Some good ideas here...they need to be moved to the Suggestions Forum.

Maybe even have a new post started there.

This thread is meant as a distraction for the Doom and Gloom threads. Sure, these things may never get enacted (especially on the wrong board), but it's fun to dream. I know everything mentioned here is mentioned there. I just happen to be championing the Epic Quest line for Changing Faction. It was an idea I came up with and will rally the troops behind me on.
