  1. That's why I said stop at level 20. Most times I've leveled (even at Launch), I was 20 before Leaving Coruscant/DK. So let players play through the starting planet, and the capital world, then cut the Free trial. Want to keep playing past that, then you need to Subscribe.

  3. Thanks, we're appreciative of it too. We have a special needs daughter, now a teen, who has cost us a lot out-of- pocket over the years, almost the amount of a second mortgage (even after insurance), so gaming is our escape and together-time as we don't go out much. Fortunately, we're natural homebodies and with gaming we always have something to do.

  5. My husband and I both play are are both 42. We've been table top rpers since we were about 8 years old and still do that mostly. But, we've enjoyed MMOs for the past 10 years or so too.

     

    You guys are so lucky to share a hobby that you both enjoy!

  6. A new Class is problematic in terms of potential costs - those Class Stories don't come cheap.

     

    Aha! BUT! (Keith, Eric, please read this!) You could develop a new class that would fit perfectly into any of the eight existing storylines, couldn't you? Your Technician could be the Scoundrel or the Trooper type and your Beastmaster example could very well be the Bounty Hunter/Mercenary or the Inquisitor type. Boom! New Class, same storyline. I'd play it again with a new Class. Try a male instead of a female, or vice versa. Or try lightside this time as opposed to darkside.

  7. EDIT: and they should keep the Subscription fee's regardless of paid expansions or not. Honestly the F2P should stop people at level 20 in my opinion. It is after all a Free Trial, nothing more.

     

    I agree with everything else you've posted but personally I'd like to see F2P entirely gone. Want to play a game? Buy it. Enjoy playing the game? Support it. Maybe F2P should be a limited download for the starting planets only. This means you can try out four different planets. Tython, Hutta, Ord Mantell and Korriban. If you enjoyed these planets, you'll enjoy the rest of the game as well, don't worry! I mean, what's the point in having all these scammers on board?

  8. I would rather encounter far fewer NPC's but more challenging ones (and actually be properly rewarded!) than having to wade through thousands of these one-hit wonders.

     

    It would certainly add suspension to the game knowing that the next enemy or group you encounter could very well defeat you. It would add some realism too. Just for the sake of lore and story, legendary Jedi like Satele and Revan would seem even more impressive in comparison to you, the player, for their ability to deal with a few dozen adversaries when you are being taxed to the limit when encountering a group of four or five. I mean, a Gundark doesn't worry me in the slightest. It probably should worry me, shouldn't it? I should probably need some help taking such a monstrousity down.

     

    I remember hugging the ground very often after sparring with Mandalorians in KOTOR. That was fun. It made Mandalorians seem like real tough guys and respectable warriors. You know what I mean?

  9. Yeah if they revert back to paid expansions they should remove the monthly fee tbh.

     

    If paid expansions were going to be a thing, everyone should have unlimited access to all content, but adding a subscription should get you complimentary Cartel Coins, reduced Crafting/Running time for Crew Skill Missions, handy features such as extra Cargo Bays and also have Mission Rewards raised by a permanent 5%. (XP + Credits.) That would be worth it for some people.

  10. Why did this model fail? My personal belief based on this game and other MMO's is lack of content depth. There simply wasn't enough there to keep people subscribed.

     

    My philosophy is that people aren't that much different from one another. If I like a certain RPG there's a fat chance other people who like the same RPG probably like that RPG for very similar/identical reasons. I believe that Eric & Keith should have a good look at the threads where subscribers are being asked their age, because that's very interesting.

     

    They should also ask themselves where their audience came from. I'm willing to bet that for at least 50% of SWTOR's subscribers the answer would either be KOTOR & KOTOR II: The Sith Lords or Activision's Jedi Academy and SWG.

     

    That leads me to say regardless of what EA would like to spend on development, their choice is to either spend more or accept that the game will die off.

     

    There are so many small things they could implement and change to increase replayability and add depth by expanding on already existing material, which would probably keep a lot of us happy in between expansions. A lot of small changes can make a huge difference to the game in general and don't necessarily have to blow up the budget.

  11. I just want to be a mean bastard when playing a Sith. I'd probably enjoy terrorizing the inhabitants and the shopkeepers of Nar Shaddaa more than trying to get Satele worked up. She's too disciplined to fall for any of that. She's no fun. I want little people to get all impressed by my Sithness! Panick! Mayhem! Chaos! Raarrrrgh! I want to see Moisture Farmers on Tatooine run for their innocent little lives when I approach on my freshly-painted Pink Speeder!
  12. I would like our stories to be more humble and less over the top. I love a good scrap with a powerful Sith Lord and I don't mind dealing with the occassional ancient threat, but I don't want to become a God or a ruler of the Galaxy. That's just too much epicness for my little peasant pea-brain. I just want to be a Jedi that's doing Jedi-like things on all sorts of planets in the Galaxy and let my tiny little actions contribute a tiny little bit to the grand scheme of things. You know, tip the scales with a grain of salt. But that's just me. I like subtlety.
  13. Nothing would make me happier than seeing a full priced expansion with tons of content. That's the model that's always worked for me as it's basically a new game at that point in time. Honestly, I feel your proposal isn't ambitious enough as a $25 proposal. I'd rather see double that at $50.

     

    I feel the same way. I don't want to go ''El Cheapo'' on my favourite game, because I want it to be as good as possible and offer me all the things I like. I'm willing to pay much more for expansions if that means these aren't going to be rushed. I'm willing to pay for content and story that has been made with love by its creators and when there's a lot of attention to detail for the genre that is Star Wars.

     

    I would love to see SWTOR do slightly better for a more mature audience. To me that's worth subscribing and paying for. I don't want it to be a ''It'll do because there's nothing else'' kind of game, because that's not going to keep me here much longer. Star Wars deserves the absolute best it can get and I'm convinced Bioware is the company that can pull it off. If EA lets them. No offense, but I'm not entirely sure if that's the case.

     

    Star Wars is a brand that should be treated with a certain level of respect since the millions of people who have grown up on Star Wars came to expect certain standards set by previous games. You can create your third-person shooters for the console market without dragging the RPG audience into that Maelstrom and respect this niche for what it is, because no matter how many Star Wars labels those games come with, most RPG players will leave third-person shooters alone because they're looking for substance. You can't compare apples with pears.

  14. You may want to reconsider that sentiment regarding ESO. Morrowind is all about trying to attract new players and is a massive middle-finger to existing players.

     

    I don't play ESO myself, but some friends and a family member have showed me the game on more than one occasion, so I know what it's about. I've heard that Morrowind is getting a mixed reception and that's all I can possibly say about it.

     

    I am in favour of their subscription model though, because their content does show a lot of variety, depth and choice compared to other MMO games. It doesn't seem to be on a budget. I think they're offering people who are into fantasy games quite a bit of substance, regardless of what's happening with Morrowind. From what I've seen ESO definitely offers depth, replayability and a lot of background. I'm not going to pretend I know a lot about this game but they seem have gotten a few things right.

  15. I would pay for content. I would pay for quality. I would pay for depth. I would pay for variety. I would pay for replayability. I don't expect game developers to create games for free and believe F2P does more harm than good. (Bots, Spammers, Credit Farmers, Scammers, Trolls, etc!) I'm not going to rave and rant. Instead I'll say: Just look at ESO. They're doing well because they're catering to their audience instead of trying to reel in a non-existent audience. EA should take note and leave SWTOR to Bioware.

    I think direct sales are the way to go, regardless of how that might or might not affect the in-game economy. I can't speak for everyone, but I myself will never walk into a store and buy a box at the counter because something I'm looking for might be in there. So why would I do that online? Aside from complimentary cartel coins that come with our subscriptions it's real money we're talking about. I don't gamble.

     

    I applaud your attempt to give your customers more bang for their buck but as I stated in my opening, I think direct sales are the way to go.

     

    With direct sales you'll avoid customers getting copies of items and the GTN will be less clogged with these, which means you'll increase your chances of attracting customers to the Cartel Market if they can't get these items in-game. In the long-run, you could also determine which items are in popular demand and which are basically a waste of time to create, as you'll be looking at your Cartel Market sales. This could save your team time, money and resources working on items or decorations which aren't in demand.

     

    And we'll be spending our money on something we actually want. Hey, it's real money. Can we expect to get what we want for our money? Would you go into a store every week and buy a box not knowing what it contains? Would you spend money on that? I'm sure some people would, but most people wouldn't. If I'm looking for headphones I'm going to buy headphones. Not a box containing random stuff.

     

    I hope this helps. It'll probably make your Cartel Market a whole lot more interesting to look at as well when there are thousands of items on display. In any case, I don't think I'm the only person who refuses to gamble. When I spend money I spend it on something I want in particular.

  17. It seems everyone thinks so "one dimensionally" about everything.

     

    The obvious solution to how to improve the quality of queue for EVERYONE (yup thats right, EVERYONE) is:

    [ x ] Enable your char to queue with/against grouped teams when solo queuing.

     

    This way EVERYONE gets the experience they want. The checkbox will by default be OFF meaning if you want to ruin your solo queueing experience *cough* I mean speed up your pops slightly you go into options and click it ON.

     

    Groups will get grouped with other groups (slightly longer wait I'll admin, just slightly because popularity will go up for both types of queues) and a few solos who elected to choose this. Solo's will get grouped with solos. Problem solved. Frankly, only 1 type of player will be negatively affected by this change: The total un-skilled wimp who loves to group up just to have a no effort win against defensless unorganized pugs. Frankly, pvp can do without that small group of people.

     

    This is what I meant. This is how it should work. Yup, I agree!

    I was talking about Solo Queues and Solo Ranked Queues. Groups should be put in a Group Queue for Group Ranked.

     

    and if u are honest, most of the time the pre made is wrecking your team is not because they are soooooo much better. it`s mostly because your team doesnt even try and or is full of frag stars.

     

    You get people who don't try, sure. You also get a lot of people who do try and I've seen some really good players on solo teams.

     

    If you are honest, a randomly assembled team of solo players is almost never going to be a match for a pre-made team of stealthers, tanks and healers. A team of solo players doesn't have any communication other than chat which means fighting and typing at the same time vs. a perfectly balanced team that's on Discord or Overwolf. Nine out of ten times these pre-made teams are fully geared where more than half of the solo players are in intermediate or starter gear.

     

    No wonder people get fed up, most of them are just looking for some random fun when they have some time. And well, bumping into one pre-made after another after you've queued for Solo isn't fun.

  19. I think your equations are too simple and your numbers are arbitrary.

     

    I think Operation Dummies and Combat Training Dummies don't tell you much about your actual damage output in the ''real'' world of SWTOR, but that's just my silly opinion.

     

    I mean, have you ever seen a Dummy Shield Itself? Ever seen a Dummy use Predation or Cover? Ever seen a Dummy with 30% Defense rating? Ever seen a Dummy with 16% Internal Resistance? Ever seen a Dummy use Pacify or Obfuscate on you? Ever seen a Dummy with 75% Tech Resistance? You can parse all you like, but different opponents require different tactics. So adding Critical isn't always the best thing to do. Some builds are actually better off without it. Let's just agree to disagree here? You can think I'm a fool if that makes you feel any better.

     

    But I'll say this much: Ataru Sentinels/Marauders are definitely better off with Accuracy. More off-hand strikes mean more Ataru strikes, which give more benefits and proc/execute other abilities. 30% off-hand bonus. Hello! What good is that bonus if it misses 33% of the time? No, you want to maximize your off-hand all the way to increase your number of Ataru strikes.

     

    Juyo Sentinels/Marauders are better off with Critical Rating because of their increased Critical chance with burns and the 6 Auto-Criticals they receive from using Zen/Berserk. These Criticals also give more benefits and proc/execute other abilities.

     

    It's not as black and white as parsing may have you believe.
