  1. heroics for gear if you need it... craft for purple if you can use it... but TBH... doesn't take much to get the commander points lvl 230 gear... and then the un-assembled stuff... which is based off your spec
  2. Give all jug/guardian a move that for ~10 seconds you are protected from death... if you go to 1 health you get stunned for a 10 sec count and you can't be hurt during the 10 seconds and after you pop back up at ~60% health...

     

    The idea being if you see a jug/ guardian ready for death.. you better not kill him. In pve while you are stunned you lose aggro...

     

    If you have ever played league of legends think Aatrox ult... if you have ever played KOTOR think darth sion...

  3. You had -A- warzone that had a lot of mercs in it, and your team was awful and you lost. Obviously this is proof that mercs are ruining pvp in 8v8s! omg nerf mercs!

     

    I can show you a match yesterday where the wz had 7 jugg/guards, obviously the match had a lot of that class in it. That doesn't prove **** dude. it proves that sometimes one class can get dumped into a wz while another you might not see one.

     

    Again, one match taken as proof that mercs need nerfed. Just BS. Glad Bioware actually doesn't take the hyperbolic crap people write seriously here.

     

    You want to prove mercs are a plague in 8v8s? Then screenshot 5-10 matches in a row, and bring them here. Do it the next day.

     

    Problem is, people are such liars they will take screenshots over a weeks time, and show only the ones that they can bend to prove their case.

     

    Keep on crying about mercs being OP in 8v8s. They aint.

     

    Your missing or avoiding my point. I mentioned A match because it perfectly summoned up my opinion on merc/commando, if people that come on the threads are the minority and the majority of people on threads are talking about how the population of mercs in pvp has increased and how devastating their current kit is, your logic about screen shot or id didn't happen becomes flawed, call me a liar but 10 to your 1 doesn't make us all liars.

     

    pretending mercs aren't over tuned for their role doesn't make it not true... it makes the nerf a disaster when bioware steps in to do it. merc is a kite and ranged dps class... atm they can face tank for more damage then a dps jug the melee (wrecking ball of pvp), I know because I've done it. again call me a liar but I'm not the only one saying that.

  4. Consistently being top DPS in an 8v8 Reg WZ doesn’t make you OP, if you are concentrating too much on how much damage you are putting out instead of objectives you should really be playing a Mara.

     

    Now if the Merc could run to a node and cap it whilst ignoring a barrage of damage for several players directly targeting him. Or run into a 3 v 1 and win every time (I can 2 v 1 in the right situation against the right type of player on a couple of classes) then that would be OP.

     

    Also being the most played class doesn’t make that class OP, that’s just silly and in my limited experience Sorcs are still the most played class.

     

    I got pulled up by someone on my previous post about taking excessive healing away from an Arsenal Merc. I think that this should be a small tweak and that DPS Sorcs and Op’s (and their rep counterparts) are fine with their level of healing as they lack some of the other benefits that a Merc has. *sigh* haters gonna hate right 

     

    Its not hate... its finding common ground... you have a group of players that say merc is cancers, and then you have a group of players that is saying its fine nerds L2P.

     

    When both are extreme... sure mercs have 3 heal to fulls, self heals, range, burst, escapes/kiting, in 4.0 the merc needed 1 just 1 extra anti focus button (and the black flip utility as just part of their kit), they got the reflect heal, which is great, but the reactive shield heal, and the adrenal steroid wasn't needed at all. There should be a change that only would bring mercs back into line.

     

    The goal should be to find what the community agrees as to strong and suggest it as a fix, because Bioware will nerf and they nerf hard. Then merc won't be as much fun again.

     

    Personally the heal on reactive shield should go to powertechs/vanguards, and give mercs a snare or root on scan. That would go a long ways. another idea is remove the adrenal steroid from mercs giving that same idea as a replacment

  5. The problem is mercs seem to be fine in 8v8s yet tons of BS is being spewed on forums with no proof except written "experience".

     

    • They don't overflow the queues like people claim
       
    • They don't top dps above all other classes every match (In fact I see more marauders and juggs do this)
       
    • The healing mercs consistently still heal for less than sorcs and seem to be about equal with operatives in 8v8s

     

    Everything I have read stating the opposite of above I have yet to see in 8v8 matches personally, and numbers I am tracking also prove the above.

     

    I am keeping track of my warzones. Tracking their numbers just to see it with my own eyes and to remove any personal bias I might have regarding the merc class.

     

    What I do see is a lot of people pointing out how mercs are OP in Solo Ranked.

     

     

     

     

     

    Now let's think about this. Mercs are too powerful in 4v4 yolos.

     

    Either the devs find a way to balance classes in 4v4 ranked, or if this proves impossible as it has seemed to be the case since 4v4 ranked arenas were added, the 4v4 ranked arenas need to be removed.

     

    If ranked was 8v8, we all know people would participate. How do I know? Because people participate in 4v4 yolos where class balance is the worst. Why? For pixels.

     

    This brings up my other point. it's very clear now why there's so much emotion and anger on the forums regarding arsenal mercs. it's all coming from the 4v4 yolo crowd.

     

    When pixels are at stake, people go bat **** crazy, and the fact arsenal mercs are overpowered in yolos makes the very small vocal minority who love their pixels go bananas!

     

    Regarding anyone that says mercs are OP'd in 8v8s, I urge you to provide proof other than written "experience". All of my tracked stats indicate they are performing fine, and are not overpopulating the 8v8 maps.

     

    I wish I took a screen shot... just for this guy... I play a vig/guard and had a warzone, it was 6 mercs in the top 7 dps, I was 3rd, which I shouldn't complain right? cept I had 0 kills, between being kited and they're self heals, rotation out of range (being melee I don't want to go to deep or else its very easily one way trip).

     

    my point is high dps, several dcd, range, healing, and heal to full mechanics don't work together for balance.

     

    that being said... huge changes aren't needed... as someone said take the trait that gives 70% healing away and that would be fine, or heal from reactive shields that would also be okay. give the heals to the melee vanguard, who can't kite, can't self heal, and can't out dps the merc. Another idea for the vanguard is if you don't want channels for melee why give them a channel version of AB(DFA)? why not give them (same damage cause they need a dps boost) but make it cast less.

     

    I created a commando just like I created a sage when it was over tuned... so I could see how others dealt with me, the answer its not even fair... as long as I stick to the fringe I rock the dps, the kills and when they break off to attack me... its kite city, and I get the option to face tank for a while... if you took away 1 heal to full then you got a great place for them to be at... then just work on guardian/PT and take the nerfs away from sage.

  6. Well in every warzone I have been in on Jedi covenant there are at least 3-4 mercs every round and in 4v4 ranked and 4v4 normal's there is always at least one or two on the enemy team. I have played over 800 games of warzones and this is the most played class of recent that i have seen since the beginning of this game. It is true that a sentinel or a marauder can give a merc a run for their money but in general the sentinel or maurader will lose due to how many times the merc/commando can heal themselves to full. I'm just saying they seem to have a bit to much dps or a bit to much healing potential a small tone down would be enough to balance it out in my opinion.

     

    please don't nerf mercs... they are in a good place atm... what I would like is return madness, boost lighting, and give the guy/guys that retooled mercs the chance to work on PT and Jug.

  7. If the final boss drops a piece for everyone....that will end badly fast. I like the idea of making sure everyone gets some guaranteed piece, I do. But think about what would happen. My guild and I run to the last boss and everyone but one switches to an alt, they all get the helm piece, and within hours we have a helm piece on all our alts and mains....too easy to farm it that way.

     

    Again good try to be fair to everyone, and I do recognize that being a decent goal but well I think it would end poorly is all.

     

    Please explain this, if there are 8 people in a room and they kill a final boss, the boss upon dying gives those people each a UA to loot from the boss not 8 ua but just like tactical gives a rng gear piece to be looted by that specific person. The op is then locked out for that character. Everyone got 1 thing the reason they ran that op, for instance we all ran story EV we all got 230 set wrist., we all ran TOS we got 230 Set chest. If I choose to run 8 Ev across 8 alts I get 8 wrists... or if I run 8 ev across 8 weeks my 8 toons would have 8 wrists. This seems fair to me.... what am I missing?

    There is some good conversation going on in this thread but I thought I would pop in and explain how it is currently planned to work in 5.1. The last boss of each Operation is guaranteed to drop unassembled pieces of a specific slot (we are still working out how many pieces drop). Each other boss in an Operation has an increasing chance (by boss) to drop any unassembled piece, not a specific slot. For the sake of the example I am about to make, I will use Karagga's Palace.

     

    Everything listed below is an example and not necessarily what will be in-game, these are just representative of the way the system will work.

     

    1st boss (Bonethrasher) - 20% chance to drop any unassembled piece.

    2nd boss (Jarg and Sorno) - 25% chance to drop any unassembled piece.

    3rd boss (Foreman Crusher) - 30% chance to drop any unassembled piece.

    4th boss (Fabricator) - 35% chance to drop any unassembled piece.

    Final boss (Karagga) - 100% chance to drop unassembled head piece.

     

    Hopefully that clears up any confusion!

    why can't we do a chance to drop a schem and CXP for each boss but the last boss drops gets a 100% chance to drop a UA (same every time you run it) just like you mention but for every person in the group.... this allows for alt building up, allows for harder ops to get more coveted pieces, allows for no ninja, allows for op completion mattering, and generally increases your QoL.

  9. So from my experience to many GS is countered by scout with pods... LOS is huge... also mobility is key...

     

    Bomber is perfect for being up under the node and spam mines with HUGE DR and shields and just don't die.

    GS is perfect for dropping the mines and pushing bombers around... also for tagging the tunneled dogfighters trying to run circles around the nodes.

    Scout is perfect for running node to node trying to dog fight, flanking GS and pod them down.

    Striker is perfect for... hanger candy? I mean they are great vs bombers 1v1... they are good vs GS 1v1... they are fun to use (IMHO) but scouts do everything better besides vs bombers... GS vs bombers are better... bombers hold nods better then fighters.

     

    its like bomber is rock, Scout is scissors, GS is paper... then we have fighters which is like chocolate useless in the trinity but tasty on its own...

  10. My thought would be "why a lightsaber at all?" They're actually kinda fragile if you think about it and have had really no innovation for thousands of years. If anything it would be a white-bladed lightkatana. Katanas are inherently better than other sword types anyway. And most lightsabers suffer from poor design anyway. The cross-guard saber is one of the poorest of all, making the hilt look like a glowing tetris block. The idea that you can go "hey look I can burn people with the exhaust port!" doesn't work when they are on both sides and can just as equally burn a hole through your own stupid chest.

     

    The crossguard section shouldn't have perfect 90 degree angles because it's absolutely pointless for a lightsaber. You'd want the extra beams/energy at a 45 degree angle and near the blade hilt in order to catch the opponents blade there and take control of it since it would be trapped between the two beams. The way it's designed both in the movie and shown in SWTOR would allow anyone smart enough to just cut off the exhaust pipes and let the thing explode in your hand.

     

    If anything, I'd rather have a Sith Sword in the form of a katana or Chinese blades such as the jian, which is made for speed and flexibility, light and mobile for close quarters combat and was used in conjunction with martial arts. It would be far more formidable in actual combat than your standard lightsaber.

     

    Okay wow... this made me lol... so much is false

     

    Wielding a light saber is like using a mag light .78 - .88 lb vs katana 3 lb or jian 2 lb. sabers weight is also all in the hilt... which makes twirling and tip control super easy, as you don't need any weight in your swing (it burns through objects based of the heat/energy discharged not the pressure of a metal edge cutting through.

     

    Metal can not cut any better then a lightsaber in theory could if I put in active lightsaber into a 4 inch thick ship hull I could effortlessly cut a door that a man could pass through, good luck using a katana.

     

    Also curved edge on a light saber would not cut any better then a straight lightsaber in fact the straight lightsaber allows for more surface contact which equals more energy/heat transference which would allow for a faster burn through.

     

    There is a reason that as we left the shields behind (in history) hilts and cross guards became more elaborate. I would disagree with the efficiency of a 45 degree guard vs 90 degree but i'll say its a matter of personal opinion.

     

    Personally I'd have a saber (1h) with a curve to the hilt (to better fit my hand) and a thin basket cross guard if I can get a material resistant to light sabers I would also have a (1H) dagger style saber with a simple cross guard for parry assist and close stab. My style would be very much like the Spanish dueling.

     

    I would be in heavy armor with a shield generator (if that made me projectile resistant). I wouldn't be jumping around like a ninja I'm stab, parry, thrust, with the occasional over thrust and slice. I could cleave just as easy with a 1h vs 2h (with a lightsaber) but cleave or slash is not as efficient against a ready foe (just ask the axe).

    Personally My Jedi hooked up, I don't understand why the physical act of creation is darkside, when the twilek betrays you if you got all pissy that would be dark side, but if you forgave that was rightly lightside.

So a ranged class, which has one of, if not the best, burst and DPS in the game, have self heals, immense amount of mobility, electro net, very good self heal even as a DPS spec, now has a sorc bubble, but wait! Unlike the sorc, he can move, dps, and self heal, and if he gets hit during the ability, he will get healed more.

     

    I don't see anything wrong here. Perfectly balanced!

     

    so I jumped out into the pvp field at lvl 70 in 5.0 I'm a dps jug, enemy had:

     

    2 merc

    2 dps jug

    1 madness sorc

     

    I'm sure they had more but my job was to hold grass and that's all that came my way it was very active I learned really quick then when you see the orange bubble you mezz and switch targets... then you come back after... mercs didn't get any harder then that (or so it seems to me), they didn't take any less damage then they normally did, only difference was if I saw the orange bubble and didn't mezz they got full heal, no damage done to them, and could keep attacking.

     

    The sorc I felt bad for... they did like no damage to me, died like paper shredded in a hurricane, and didn't get nearly as much healing as they use to.

     

    My team did a great job focusing fire this is true... my team knew when to use mez and not to break them, this is also true I think what I'm saying is if you focus fire and know when to mez commando gets a 4 second break from being the anvil on which we slam. What made sorc so ruff was all the huge dps died so fast... so it was hard to catch a sorc in the death window before everything came back up.

     

    Please rebuff sorc, always nerf operatives :rak_03: (and does really no one notice how powerful sin is atm?)

  13. Sorry, I kind of wrote that and went to bed. Yeah, I've been trying to holler around and gather people, but it seems that everyone who wanted to finish Legendary did it back in August. My playtimes are also inconvenient since I'm EU, but somehow I figured three days would be enough. It wasn't.

     

    I actually heard about the GSF channel yesterday, but unfortunately at such a late hour that it did me absolutely no good. I'd queue right now if I didn't have to be in class in an hour, and by the time I get back, maintenance will have started, and I'm out. :(

     

    i can't say its BS when you only gave yourself 3 days, are EU on a American server, and it sounds like you didn't have a guild to assist since your hollering around.

     

    I'm not be a dick, the GSF community has something another groups don't... if I'm queing solo its because I'm choosing to... if you meet a pilot say howdy... that is a pilot you can fly with any time your both on.

     

    Forgot to add the reason I posted... I don't want you to get discouraged at trying GSF... just because you don't get the DvL doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the game. Besides the devs said they may do DvL again anyways.

  14. I am rather addicted to GSFing and GSF on Ebon Hawk. Normally I find the group of regular flyers fun, challenging and all in all good people/players. I do have a few on ignore but that is just because I like to have fun. It is a game. WHAT I have a problem with and I so WISH the game would do things about it, is the cheats. The ones that have godmodes, autotargetting, infinite ammo, gunships that have a range of 30k and can fire through walls...players that can switch out a ship mid fight...You take screen shots, you offer evidence and nothing is done. I think that is what can ruin GSF and ruin fun for beginners.

     

    I LOVE a challenging game of GSF but it is virtually impossible to fly against or even with players that use these cheats. Learn the ships, learn how to fly, learn how to GSF. Sure you may not win all the time but it is a heck of a lot more fun.

     

    I am TEH... never seen these hacks.. I've seen the lag spike ships were they are almost using mini revers thrusters every 3 seconds or so... I've also seen them hit a 5 second spike and then into a meteor so that was fun. I have been clipped inside a domination station where I couldn't move, if I tried it was hull damage... I could shoot, but getting shot was rare... i ended up killing myself because i couldn't roam and they gave up on B.

  15. I have to agree that while it is fun to have ravage as instant, the animation is one of the lamest of the game...maybe taking the impale one would have been a better, jugger oriented option.

    Also one does wonder - how is the defensive swings stacking 3 times now?

     

    it still hits 3 times its just hits in one GCD

  16. On Vigilance spec does the shuddering effect from Shuddering Strike, Force Sweep/Vilgent Thrust (if specced into this effect), and Saber Throw stack or do they just overwrite each other? and if they do stack does it make a differance for the group or is it just not worth it?

     

    the effect is the same across each move it just "refreshes it" you can saber throw>leap>and attack a armor broke target then use breaker to regain focus/rage and the aoe breaker is great for group fights and the dot spread. none of them stack and none of them take away the last effect... just refreshes any breaker on them (same with any class that breaks armor).

  17. I could live without that. Here's what I would do:

     

    Tack on to Zen Strike: Blade Barrage does 50% more damage when hitting a burning target.

     

    If they nerf the freezing force talent, add:

     

    Elemental Slash: Plasma Brand decreases the focus cost of the next Slash by 1 focus, increases the damage by 10%, and turns it into elemental damage.

     

    This makes slash replace the slot that chilling scream took rotationally, nerfing aoe but not affecting the rotation.

    Done.

     

    This is a great idea... truly 50% might be a bit high but 30% would make it hit just in line with impale, which is pretty good damage.

     

    Although if we are really that far behind in 1v1 damage then 50% would be something to reach for... or maybe 15% base damage increase (for all SW) and a 20% increase on zen blade

  18. Don't forget ranked gives you much more and you can just stand there and be AFK. While you actrually have to play in the Operation...

     

    ANd there's no lock on WZ content.

     

    That's it where is my pitch fork... its funny cause the PvP forms are saying its not fair that PvErs can afk in PvP and then do PvE and get more GCXP then they can... cause they don't want to PvE.

     

    lol life is so hard.

     

    I was told by someone that only PvEs that they join PvP now for the xp while they craft... super fair. Perhaps PvP gains should be based on getting max medals to unlock receiving and have it as much as a HM/NIM op? then it would be fair to everyone.

  19. No pvpers want to do pve. Not unless they are also pve people. It doesn't matter how easy it is.

     

    we really should get separate but equal gear, not be allowed to share water fountains, different color pattern options that if you wear one color you can't pvp for 6 months and if you wear the other color your always flagged until your character perma dies (everyone gets 1 life besides cathar they get 9)... yes sarcasm was on.

     

    I'm a pvper and I love doing PvE, if you are playing an MMO cause you only do one thing your missing out. I GSF as well... honestly I get my dailies done for what I feel like that day.

     

    My point is (and not directed at trixxie) if you do only one aspect of a very large game... don't get mad over others doing more and saying its not fair they get things faster... thats childish...

  20. But the 224 top tier pve armouring set bonuses were untouched.

    This makes the old top tier pve guildies those that're best geared in pvp. Can we get those set bonuses removed as well to put people on a level playing field?

     

    The answer is no... its not unfair... and working as intended.

  21. Remember all those times you would tell your team to Focus the Merc because "he has basically no defensive cool downs" and "he'll drop quicker than a Sorc with no armor!"? Or for those guys who chase Mercs around the map, completely ignoring the rest of the game, team, for 15 minutes because you wanted the easy kills?

    In 5.0 we will FINALLY get our vengeance. I am so ready to make you guys pay! If you're a Mara, you will be my # 1 target and now YOU will know what it is like to be hunted down every match and feel useless to your team.

    I was under the impression a merc/sniper was focused because they very high dps/team utility they brought along. The fact they were catchable and weaker DCD was the trade off the got from being a back line, with super high dps.... I mean if you want to trade DPS # with my infiltration shadow we can trade DCD? You keep range/off heals i'll keep stealth.

  22. I'm a long-time fan of Galactic Starfighter but its incredibly frustrating trying to play when there are virtually no queue-pops ever. I am an Ebon Hawk player, and I was wondering if there were any guilds or dedicated groups out there that play this feature?

     

    TEH still has some pilots, unless we have a guild event going on I'm always in the que.
