Once again you are throwing baseless accusations out there, I havent mentioned Dota, LoL, SC, CS, etc. You have.
Ive discredited WoW, how does CS, LoL, Dota, etc affect that?
And for the record, I did play Dota actively, and had a rank of 4101 at the highest, but it affects my MMORPG PvP very little. So yeah, your point is kinda of moot.

You did it wrong, Main european 1v1 tourney is taking place on 5th dec. Bad timing on yourrs + very few sign-ups and mostly nonames. Try to time it better next time. GL.

Ofc WoW gives credibility, it actually was THE competitive MMORPG, when it was one of the few games in online industry that actually had small-scale pvp(aka arenas, aka real skill test).
I dont think you understand what does actual, meaningful PvP mean(a type of PvP, where some kind of achievements/results obtained in it actually mean something) :
-It's not a 40v40 PvP battle where individual player skill matters so little/close to nothing.
-it's not a 1v1 type of scenario(unless its some kind of Blade & Soul), or a MIRROR class duel
-It's not mindless, fluffy "guild PvP" where you obtain a castle and hold it, so enemies can't get control of it.
Get it? Basically, almost everything that is <10 players gives credibility. Something where YOUR skill comes into play, not skill of other 39 players, of your 20 guild members. Something, where it's all YOU: 2v2, 3v3,4v4, where your badness can lead to a loss, where your missplaced CC can lead to a loss etc etc.
You want to believe in that BS that these games(the ones you listed) are recognized world-wide - you do so, gl.
I believe that games like WoW, GW2, EVE, DOTA, LoL, CS, SC2, Fighting games, Chess are credible, when it comes to PvP.

World of Warcraft comes AFTER EQ2, DAoC and EVE. I played all 3, and had 2 characters with the highest pvp rank in EQ2... you played World of Warcraft.

My point is, anyone who claims that WoW PvP has a high skill ceiling, and requires you to be a great PvPer, is a moron and should wear a sign around their neck saying "I'm stupid", so that the rest of us are warned in advance that this person is beyond even trying to reason with, as they will never ever be able to listen to the arguements given, or sway their opinion, because they have no genuine interest in getting better, learning or evolving as a player or a human being.

(Perseverance is what you do when you keep practicing, and keep going when things are hard. In sports and games, thats usually defined as losses or failures

A PvP guild as a whole can focus on every aspect of PvP, and the focus will change slightly from game to game depending on what is most rewarding to the members.
PvP stands for Player vs Player, and includes the following aspects:
All of those aspects can, and will improve your skill, with the endgoal of becoming better and excelling at team pvp.
But imo, if you are going to be a PvP GUILD, you need have a proven skill in all of those aspects, not just one.
You may never reach that endgoal with that kind of attitude and arrogance right off the get-go. If you want to be a good PvP guild, that doesnt want to end up as a server's laughing stock(like infamo did) - you don't, you just don't write OPs like urs. You better deliver, otherwise you'll get the same bad reputation as MvPs and infamo did(for diff reasons).
Just don't give up on ranked immediately and turn into another IRS/ACE/MvPs after small/no success. After that it only goes 2 ways:
-Turn into nwz guild with <average players
-Members leave and join better guilds

Mercenary-Innovative I'm playing this spec because I like to mobile in pvp.
Sorcerer-Madness (Aoe Pressure) or Lightning Always Liked these specs. But its a caster so their will be some limits to what kind of pressure I can add to the fight.
I would like to play the Mercenary but their survivability is not the best in the game.
dont go mercenary unless you are really good/experienced. go with sorc.

dont blame the players. blame bioware for completely neglecting the pvp aspect of the game. naturally good players will always roll the underdog faction. thats why the best guilds usually were reps 3-4 years ago.

bioware didnt do anything in the pvp area of the game for years so most good players moved on to other games. whats left now is a bunch of complete noobs and the occasional good ex rep player who rerolled cos playing with pve idiots is simply impossible.Yeah right, "moved" to other games. I was wrong. There is not a single Republic dedicated PvP guild. Not even a single one who is active.
Well there is one, but as I said before, they are qsyncers for soloq. They get stomped in team ranked though. So best option is to roll imp or get good imp players roll rep, which is unlikely. Best of luck to you.

Don't roll TOFN if ur "hurty", very toxic PvP community and a lot of salty "friends" dat will focus u 24/7 if u are playing good, trash talking, harassment e.t.c. But if u have a friends and wanna challenge go on TOFN and que grp ranked.

Im sorry to pee in your soup, but team ranked is a thing, atleast on TOFN. Ofc there is no team ranked on red eclipse, mainly due to the fact that most people are lolcasuals and bads with no balls or initiative.
I'd play with tofn bads any day of the week over tre ones. tre is just helpless imbeciles, no offense. I'd rather go through trashtalking and win than that.

Funny thing is, most of these posts are talking about what things USED TO be. That wasn't his question and I don't think anyone really cares. What we want to know is what it's like today.
I haven't picked up SWTOR in 4 years and I could easily start going into how us imps beat the rep to pieces game after game and how their "top players" got completely dominated in every wz me and my friends met them in. But it's ancient history now and doesn't really matter... Could someone please offer a concise state of the TOFN server especially in regards to pub side?

TOFN = PvP, nwz, yoloq, open world, team ranked, duels, whatever. Rep side = bad.
TRE = casual pvers trying to do normals

Lol, tofn was utter dog***** last night literally not 1 healer in all my games and guild was pretty empty too.
Also, 3 times I watched a sin go to guard the node in 3 different rounds in ancient hypergates and all 3 times he got opened up on by 2 shadows, not once did he type inc, even after I prompted him to do so in the first round, so yeah, tofn pvp so pro
Hopefully some guildies will be on tonight to ease the solo pain...

You are right, in a way. The OP-comp thing started when BW failed to maintain proper balance with dot spreads/snipers/pts. Before S3 I think it was not so common. If it's a mirro OP comp then better team usually wins anyway. Also flow of teams seems to vary from season to season.
edit: also its a reward problem + presence of soloq in a game.
