  1. They shouldn't be but BW did state taunts would miss in 3.0. Honestly even with 101% accuracy there have been times where Lurker for example has ignored a taunt and jumped to another person. And no the tank didnt taunt during the leap. He taunted before.

If you taunt monolith during terrible shout he ignores it doesn't miss, however on lurker, lurker CLEARLY has the taunt buff/debuff on him while he attacks someone else, and stays on that person too. Lurker is then supposed to give 30% less damage yet sometimes it feels like leaping to someone is a one shot from 95% to 20 in one leap.

  2. Is that why you seemingly ignore almost every post in here, which does not say something, that agrees with your original statements?
Not true. I have literally read and taken in every post in here and realized that perhaps I may be saying things rather than how to improve. I realized that saying "majority" wasn't the best choic of words. Why would I spam this thread replying to every single post? Why would anyone spam a thread replying to every single comment made? If that's what you meant. Now please tell me how many on these forums would admit they are in the wrong? I do, and I take the criticism and learn from it.
  3. Hi everyone.

So I can't help but noticed how large and popular harbinger has gotten. I message you today with a plea. I certainly do not represent every opinion at Jedi Covenant nor do I pretend to.

I have heard stories that Harbinger's community is extremely active. While you guys get PUGs for Hard mode content from fleet. Yep, from fleet. We do PUGs for KP and EV. The gap in talent level is enormous compared to you guys.

I love JC but the level of talent has really diminished and everytime I get on someone's TS I hear "so and so quit the game or went to another server".

Many of you on harbinger are former JC players. Please come back and make this server competitive again.

    :)

  4. As many others have stated earlier the manner in which contrastive criticism is given greatly affects how it is received.

But, also the OP is correct as we as Americans (sorry most of my play experience is on NA servers) have also become extremely thinned skinned about anything we perceive to be an insult of any form, even if it is not intended in that manner. Just turn on the news and you can see how widespread this issue is in America way beyond the realm of video games.

I think you hit the nail with this point. Things have gotten so bad, that whenever you make a suggestion, people automatically put their shields up. It's like a reflex.
  5. This is very funny to me Roy, considering the reason I left the guild you are in. I was a founding member of the guild and on the council, also the main tank of the 8m HM progression team since it was formed. There is so much that I would like to say right now but I am so upset with the way things have played out that I'm afraid I cannot reply in a calm manner. I will say this, AJE was not built by those 2 cousins who now take credit for the guilds accomplishments, it was built by a group of people who wanted to run 8m HM progression. I was a founder and had a voice until Seb decided that he was the GM. The guild was run by 4 people who all took turns with GM, trading off every month because the guild was not controlled, it was indeed a democracy. when I left, the final words to me were, "this is not a democracy". Seb told me that right before he basically told me to **** because I was informing the guild of the reasons why I left the guild in the first place. BTW I left with the guild at 3/10 HM and left for 2 months, they did not progress with their new "Leadership". I returned and the guild progressed to 7/10.....I mention this because your "leaders" have made comments about my skill as a tank, calling me a bad tank etc. My strategies progressed AJE not your so called "leader" cousins whom btw wouldn't be 7/10 now if I hadn't returned to AJE for the period I did, just to realize that some people will never give credit where it is actually due and instead put themselves on an imaginary pedestal for nobody to see and or give a damn. So to your "leaders" of AJE and how everyone has a voice and how they treat everyone the same and blah blah blah......I say ********. They will treat you nice as long as you **** and listen to them and their fail techniques. good luck progressing.
To be fair, your situation was alot different than the way things are now. Remember I said it is run by them. I never said the guild was created by them. In your case it got to the point where clearly personalities were clashing and like others have mentioned, when that happens it's time to leave and go elsewhere.
  6. And yet other tanks here disagree with you, so the only thing this does besides publicly calling out the tank and telling them what to do without a reason as to why is give them some dubious rotational commands.

This is why we need cross server queues so these expert tanks can see exactly what I mean. Perfect example is master blaster with two vanguards. Let the "main tank" pull first get 2-3 attacks then the "off tank" use harpoon. I would say 1/3 or maybe 2/4 times the off tank will pull threat off the main one for a couple seconds. Like I said, it doesnt happen all the time, but when it does it's funny. It's funny because people get used to a certain way of "generating threat".

For example, according to guides "stockstrike and HIB" generate the highest. But I will take away threat from any "main tank" by simply spamming explosive surge and shoulder cannon.

The only reason other tanks disagree is simply because they don't use harpoon enough other than to pull the occasional lone wolf add running around hitting the healer.

I honestly encourage all vanguard to try this out. Let the main tank pull boss with sticky grande and storm and then you just use harpoon immediately after he pulls. Try it at least 5 times. Then look at target of target and laugh your butt off.

  7. This is always going to be true to some extent. I've noticed that younger guild leaders are often more guilty of doing it than older ones though.

As for the reason you don't see it in some guilds, some people are more aware of what they are doing than others, and of the message their actions are sending.

Of course they'll still have their favorites too, it just won't be as noticeable as it is in some guilds.

    exactly. eggxactly!!!

Going back to the teacher student....boss subordinate examples.....everyone, and I mean EVERYONE has favorites, but what you DONT want to do, and what you should NOT do is SHOW favoritism.

This thread doesnt ask if GMs have favorites, this thread asks WHY THEY SHOW favoritism.

  8. 1. How is telling someone their dps is not enough/insufficient a bad thing? No one, and I mean no one in this game will stop a raid to help a player with their FULL rotation. They might give some pointers but no one will do that.

That statement is as neutral as it gets.

    2. If you ask me for ways to maximize your heals and I tell you "place your salvation before we get pulled by gravity" that is advice.

    3. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen vanguard tanks start with sticky grenade, then, storm, then get a stockstrike out, then all i do is press harpoon and the boss IMMEDIATELY faces me.

So for those of you that have "tested" this....keep testing. It doesn't happen all the time, but the fact that it happens means that while you got off 3 attacks, i got off a non attack and took your threat.

  9. If I tell you your dps is insufficient I am not insulting you, It means exactly what you see.

If I tell you not to stand in a certain area, there's a reason, I am not "telling you what to do".

If I give you pointers on when and how to heal, it is not an attempt to say you suck, it's to help the group get past content.

If I tell you to use harpoon instead of sticky grenade to start a fight, this isn't an attempt to call you out.

    Ever been in these situations?

  10. I'll always show favoritism towards people I've known the longest, friends, family etc.. In game or out of game, that will never change. If Joe Blow comes along, I'll gladly welcome him in, but in no way will he receive the same treatment that I give people that I've known the longest. That doesn't mean I'll be an *zz to him, but he will be treated differently. If after a long period of time, Joe has shown commitment, then of course he'll receive the same treatment, but it will be earned, not given.

    This is common sense.

This one sounds more like personal choice and/or personality then anything else to me. The guild im in is run by cousins who have known each other their entire lives and are close to each other. Yet in no way do they ever favor one over the other when it comes to decisions about raids, and/or group-related stuff. They make fun of each and they make fun of us and vice versa. It is the closest thing to "equal" that I have seen.

And those that are new are treated EXACTLY the same way. As if they have known that person for a long time. They joke with them, make conversation with them. So please spare me this common sense thing you mention because it's all about personality and if your style is to isolate (even when it is unintentional) then that has nothing to do with common sense.
