I think EA (SWTOR) should take Blizzard take and bring back a classic server because i miss when this game was actually a MMO and not a RPG with MMO elements in it.
I thought i bring this up because i m suck of the too high xp rate, no skill trees, too easy npcs etc and i like the classic swtor better than current version
so if you made a server 1.x.x or last version with skill trees
thanks

Well. This is strange.
I am using Norton by my self. It never gives false positives at website - attacks. Avast etc., which was mentioned is not even detecting the half of Norton (360).
/edit: Norton has changed since over 6 years. It is one of the best now.
As someone who fixes computers when I see people computers with norton on it I feel sorry for them but I cannot say anything unless there sub is about to expire
But that said back in the 90. When I was a kid until my high school years Norton or Symantec as they were called were THE company for internet security BUT today since they changed hands are now the worst one to used you might as well use free AVG or Windows Defender
Today norton pickup the least viruses and flags a lot of things as false viruses I mean flag them as viruses when there not
If you want my recommendation I ve used a lot of them I can recommend either bitdefender IS or Kaspersky. IS. I use kaspersky now since it’s been rated #1 or #2 can’t remember but rep.site that test and report on today’s anti-virus this site is one a technician would look at before decision is made as its not for novice to read

I would actual be ok if Disney brought Bioware it means swtor can continue and other RPG would also be saved Mass Effect for example

Anyway thanks all, oh is Harbinger still the best server for my area?
there is only two server now with new names and they both in same location so its not going to matter which one u choose as they will give same performance

The end of net neutrality, by itself, will affect only the US. However, many gaming studios and publishers are stationed in the US, thus have to follow US laws. I firmly believe it will have implications to international services as well. Not immediate, but eventual or subtle ways.
I'm with you on the confusion about how end of net neutrality will have on a global scale. And that's what's so scary and anxiety inducing about it.
Thank you for taking an interest.
Well I totally agree that net Neutrality should stay and only reason why they want to end it is to Suck up as much money from every1 as they can. its the same as microtransactions it only helps them make more money.
But its mainly going to effect smaller companies thats going to kill their business since no one going to vist there site if its slow so they can either pay up or make a web site like ones that were made in 80s and 90s that can run on dail-up speed. if people want to see web sites like that go to the way back machine web site and take a look
BIG Companies like Google,Netflix, Sony and Microsoft etc that have more money than god will just pay up or people will need to pay to have access to them at full speed
SO to people in US PLZ SPEAK OUT have a rallies, donate to the ppl who want to fight it for u and with Microtransactions plz don't support them by spend money from them since when you do your basically saying they are ok and why should we care
ENDING NET NEUTRALITY WILL KILL THE INTERNET

there one thing about net neutraility that confuses me does effects world wide or just USA? because they only mention the main US ISPs when talking about it
thanks

listen EA/BW either move the NA to west coast again or Re-open one APAC Server and we can all be happy
But i give this game 1 to 2 years of life left if nothing changes. And I would see how the game is performing after 12 Dec after the QOL stuff is done
Anniversary Celebration – Game Update 5.6.1 – December 12, 2017Quality of Life changes
Star Wars: The Old Republic Six Year Anniversary Celebration!
Wookiee Life Day Celebration begins

its EA and Microtransactions it SAFE to say No they won't be going anywhere
-
try delete the cache file from game folder>swtor\Diskcachearea*.
then open cmd and run ipconfig /flushdns and reboot your router
then go again

Alright folks, here are the updates as I mentioned yesterday!
- Pricing: By popular request, we are going to bring transfers back at the pre-United Forces pricing (90 // 150CC) for a limited time. After that time they will go up to their new standard pricing of 1,000CC.
I will let you all know on Monday if we are still on track for transfers to go live again on Tuesday and the exact timing for the sale pricing.
Thanks everyone.
-eric
I would give free transfers for limited time since they only going to used to fix up server mergered characters
PS: on one server my legacy has complete disappeared and reset to start a new

This is extremely weird, but I’m seeing a massive difference at Star Forge of 457ms and a ping at Satele Shan of 281ms.
maybe because of the load on 457ms causing it
Since the first 3 numbers are the same in ips means its on same network
-
I ll wait and see what happens since I don’t have anyway to contact u guys but once the guild is established llet me know
-
Maybe start a topic looking for APAC Players to form a new guild made up of leftover apac players
-
I m APAC player and i like to join an apac guild
U should post a guild name here and how to contact to join to form a new guild
-
Well considering the server merger is not to help the players but to cut down costs and when the money from CM drys up then that’s it
Plus they can’t cut down the server anymore except maybe just one server for US i just hope its in west coast
-
EU is completely different to APAC...
A. The Atlantic crossing is about 80ms
B. The Pacific crossing is about 170ms (before you hit the west coast infrastructure (about 200ms to the old west coast servers)
C. Traveling across the US adds about 100+ms for some APAC players.
D. A major percentage of APAC players end up with between 290-350ms Ping
E. Poor server and internal network optimisation causes big lag spikes... these exacerbate the high lag even more
if you were using wtfast setup and live in Melb and internet leaves from Sydney what be best server locations to used to get lowest latency to swotr before on west coast with nothing i could get as low as 185ms 210ms most areas but now east 230-250 ms up to 300ms
-
yea i love a pre 2.0 server as well as fun server but also bring back some of the good things from it skill trees, better sage attack effect that were replace by a crappy speed effect version. i.e when it lifted a rock from ground then push it forward and your character did the action too
plus the classic raids mean something again. plus u lvl at right rate so u don't miss any Flash points u might want to do
thanks
-
People saying its RIP for West Coast or East Coast are just being too spoiled by 30 ms latency when 60-120ms you never notice the difference. 300+ is start of problem
185 ms is best i had with West Coast and raided fine
-
As you know the servers in usa have moved to east coast but that was BIG MISTAKE as everyone outside the usa needs to enter the west coast first to get to east coast which means incease latency for everyone and alot of people can’t afford that increase so they cannot play properly for things like raiding and pvp
Now software and hardware opterzation may minimise lag spikes but not latency increase so the devs need to consider moving the all in one server to west coast
To make things fair world wide the datacentre should be in West Coast since everyone outside the US ENTERS from there
AND as long as everyone ping is below 250-300 ms and no higher than 350 ms it should be fair. People from east coast going to west coast should be average 60-120 ms
Let me know what u thinl
So West Coast is were it NEEDS TO BE

Hey folks,
As many of you know, on Tuesday Keith explained that in preparation for United Forces we moved all current west coast servers into our Virginia data center. Here’s some of the key questions we have received about the North American datacenter change:
Why not communicate this ahead of time?
We made the decision to not communicate this information ahead of time because we wanted you to have the ability to immediately login and determine the impact to your gameplay experience. This meant we could quickly start gathering feedback on what you were seeing in-game (more on this in the next question). However, we have seen posts from players who made specific decisions based on location (such as character transfers) and we will be in touch with them to discuss. To ensure there is no confusion about this update in-game, we adjusted the server selection screen to reflect that all NA servers are on the east coast.
My ping has gone up since the change and it is affecting my gameplay, what options do I have?
Please continue to report it! As Keith mentioned in his forum post this is something we are actively tracking and working with our network partners to address where possible. We will be working through this especially over the next two weeks as we ramp up to United Forces.
Could there be one data center in the Central US so that pings are more even for each coast?
Creating an entirely new datacenter is a daunting task, even above and beyond the substantial changes we have already made this year. This just isn’t something that was viable in the scope of the changes we made for United Forces.
Since all of NA is in one datacenter, shouldn’t we just have one server?
Moving all of NA together would create a very heavily populated server. This would introduce several challenges: 1) Players would likely experience queues accessing the server and 2) It would increase the chances for server instability and downtime. There are also a variety of other issues, but a key concern was combining all of North America would result in substantially more character name collisions.
We hope this answers some of your questions and lets you know what’s going to happen over the next couple weeks. Please remember, on November 8th we will move all players to their new servers during an extended maintenance (currently looking like 12 hours). We are also discussing starting a few hours earlier than usual (e.g., 2 or 3am CT), but will let you know a few days beforehand.
Thanks everyone.

I m a Aussiue and on Harb West Coast and my ping from 185-210ms to 242 ms and it spikes sometimes to 340 ms and same on East coast server.
On Europe server is 320-380 ms and can spike to 440 ms sometimes
but in terms of raiding 320-350 ms isn't going to impact your game play too much if its 400+ ms then your starting to get into trouble. If you want to improve your latency a little then turn on Force Triple Buffering in game profile in video cards driver as long as your pc can handle this
Using WTFast with manual two connection settings with server 1 closest to u and server 2 closest to SWTOR server and there's a 30 ms difference 240 ms to 240 -270 in game and 292 ms to 262 on internet side
so i d say its not worth the money but its up to you

Considering the description stating back end maintenance and something to do with their data centers + no form of patch, I don't think so.
I don’t know depending on how much of an upgrade in hardware and software to serers i would think heir be slightly better latency and performance/reliability (due to server optimzation) but not by much
But i would judge it when the 5.5.1 patch is out which updates the client for this upgade
SWTOR Classic Servers
in Suggestion Box
Posted
a) you could import a legacy it would just be scaled for the classic lvl 60 that was in 1.x.x era
b) Transfers cannot happen unless there was validation check to see if that character has item post 1.x.x and but this isn't issue since your not playing the classic server to use your post 1.x.x characters you on this server to play like the old days so this if you want this then classic server isn't for you
c) Strongholds, in mail companions, Trek, and HK etc anything post 2.0 don't belong on classic server so this is no issue if you want this then classic server isn't for you
d) Characters slots could be easy added to classic server since its only a set limitation by the GM
f Master's Datacron to boost to lvl 60 is easy web site purchase
e) If 1.x.x npcs, xp rate etc is too hard for you then this server isn't for its for the OGs or people that want a challenge when they play a character the current server are too easy atm
