  1. i think the damage from smash should be tripled, with zero cooldown. All force bubbles should just be taken out, and stealth removed.

Also, taunt should immediately reset the smash cooldown. That should solve any problems.

    qft.......

  2. I have both classes and play as healer for both. Op wins hands down.

    • More mobility
    • Def CDs
    • Minimal cast times
    • Stealth
    • Emergency Heals

Only thing sorc has thats better is bubble stun, force speed and extricate (situationally fun but not directly useful in most PvP).

  3. ^Pretty much this. You can't really know about the balance in the game (what is overpowered or underpowered) until you fully understand the nit and gritty of all the classes and how they affect each other.

    at 50...........

  4. difference being he never claimed the sorcs were OP, just posting his rebuke about them being UP and worthless as players that cant handle more than 4 buttons often claim.

Overall I would say 4/10 for style, 2/10 for form, and 1/10 for fubaring the landing. You didnt even medal my friend, infact I think you just lost to poor little ting ting.

Thanks, not my best I'll admit but remember you only need to perform just well enough to win so I'll take 9/10 for making the OP think it was a serious post.

    Nerf ops!

  5. I rolled a marauder (level 15 now) and its SO overpowered and easy to play. I only have 4 abilities which proves the class is for noobs and facerollers and shows the class is easy to play.

With only a guild group we OWN random noob pug groups. Its not even funny, they dont stand a chance.

I take this as irrefutable evidence that marauders are overpowered. What could level 50 PvP against other teams possibly teach me that this hasnt?

  6. Though your info is correct (people overestimate their ability), your conclusion is invalid and a missunderstanding of the data.

Just because people overestimate their ability does NOT mean imbalances do not exist and hence that nerfs/buffs are not required. It simply means that *some* of the complaints can be ignored.

The *fact* is that (due to the fact that classes are not all identical), imbalances DO (and in fact must) exist.

Your conclusion is just as wrong as the people who are incorrectly claiming that they are amazing and hence class X needs a nerf.

  7. I believe I'm missing some context in your argueing but Death Field hits 3 people, not 8. And on a 15s Cool Down its powerful, but not something you're particularly afraid of.

It was an intentionally exaggerated quote to show why exaggerated stories (eg dotting an entire team for 2k dots) have no place in balance discussions.

Realistic statement: My deathfield generally crits for 3.8k on 2 people.

Exaggerated statement: My deathfield I can spam for 4.5k on 8 people.

Realistic statement: I can dot 4 people in 8 seconds, dots hitting for 400-600/second

Exaggerated statement: I can dot an entire team with dots hitting for 2k/second

Of each of these, 1 statement is constructive and relevant, the other is fiction and should be ignored.

  8. anger over a video game, you are now dubbed Angry Angie. I said not dot the team "at once" and death field can only hit 3 people. you've got passion I'll give you that, strange video game passion, but still it's passion

Im not angry (at all in fact), I just think youre wrong and intentionally obfuscating the issues :D.

  9. Ok. negative nancy. I'll respond to you. Even tho you only picked out two items from my list and then said to discuss things that actually happen. Tisk tisk sad suzy

Never force run onto a bridge and knockback? If you need more direction here you go, you hide behind a pillar near the bridge so they don't know you are there, when they get into the correct position you force run and knock off who is positioned poorly. It happens more often then you'd think.

I never said there was a way to dot the entire team at once, that's foolish of you to think there is one sullen sandy. madness has 3 dots and there is a way to tab through enemies, it's call tab. I do the same on my lethality sniper when I want to put the entire team in a healing deficit before i focus fire. That's how dot specs start a match, it's not new to pvp in any game.

Yes yes yes, the sun is always shining.

I can hit 8 players for 4.5k at a pop with my deathfield. Great. Lets base discussion around something that happens once every 1000 WZs as its obviously relevant.

Never said a way to dot the entire team? Actually, yes, you did, in fact you said that word for word.

dotting their entire team for 2k ticks each second..

3 dots, wow, all instant cast right? No cds? No? Thought not. You are not dotting their entire team before the fight, the fight has started and you are using gcds to dot rather than DD. Not to mention that sorc dots do not hit for 2k/sec. So you are exaggerating about both dotting the entire team and the 2k a tick thing. Once again meaning your point is moot.

The point I'm making is not that situations like knocking 4 people off a VS bridge is possible (Ive done it myself), just that its IRRELEVANT as its so vanishingly uncommon as to be a moot point when discussing class balance.

So Mr "Positive Polly" (if we are going to be 5 year olds), keep your outliers, freak instances and irrelevant analogies for where they belong, analogies and offhands, not balance discussions where they are simply a distraction and obscurance to the topic in hand.

  10. Or killed 4 people at once tossing them off a bridge.

Seriously? 4 People in a VS bridge, how incredibly bad are the people youre playing against? "Oh look a sorc by the edge of the bridge, lets all run by the gap side". Yes.

Or pissed off a healer by dotting their entire team for 2k ticks each second..

I would love an ability that is spammable (enitre team) and ticks for 2k a second. On the other hand none exist for sorc/sage so... yeah.

Yes, pretty easy to invent skills and corner case situations (eg your VS bridge).

More useful is discussing actual gameplay that happens.

  11. Interrupting like an idiot abilities like diagnostic scan will get you nowhere. You really need to know all healer abilities, and even play them if you want to have a chance at killing ops.

Of course. Not hard though. This guy sounds like he expect to just jam dps buttons until stuff falls over.

Tbh, healers with exception of Ops are a joke to kill 1v1 for most DPS classes and the only reason Ops get hard is their manouverability and emergency cast.

When I play my jugg I literally follow sorcs and mercs heals around as theyre so damn easy to kill. My basic hits hit then for 1k and I have 3/4 interupts with which to stop them doing anything of use except instants (which are weak). Theyre lucky to get 2/3 heals off before they die.

Anyone complaining about heals as a dps is either fighting a guarded healer (ie a 1v2) or an Op, in which case I sympathise (somewhat) however theyre still pretty easy to shut down (ie put into a self heal loop), just not easy to kill solo.

  12. Pro tip for OP:

    Go to your ability page.

    Locate your interrupt.

    Bind your interrupt.

    Use your interrupt.

    Profit.

I believe this will help your predicament. If not, try rolling right to left. Sometimes that can help too.

  13. In order of favoritism (although not playtime):

    1. 4x Op healer (healing as it should be imo)

    2. 50 Sorc Madness/Lightning hybrid (ex healer toon, cant stand sorc healing atm)

    3. 50 Jugg Rage/Immortal hybrid (too easy but fun for an hour of epeening)

    4. 2x PT pyro-faceroll (joke class but i want the buff)

  14. I thought I'd chime in as a sorcerer healer. I enjoy this class - the spells, mechanics, and overall flavor (tastes like green apple). I've played a smuggler and mercenary healer well into level 50 and for some reason, neither class has "fit" me as well as my sorcerer. For this reason, I can't see myself re-rolling or quitting. Regardless, I've tried to be as objective and neutral in my assessment as possible.

Despite this, I'm frustrated with my survivability in warzones. Many players on our server are established and privy to the "kill the sorcerer first" tactic. I find myself constantly on the move to LOS objects and meticulously managing escape and crowd control cooldowns to survive.

I'm pounced by dps every time I respawn in a warzone, and I feel like this has forced me to become a better player. I can, when timed right, narrowly escape death as the rest of my team lazily twirl around their glowsticks, eventually poking the enemy team to death.

I would say this is just a healer issue. I'd say, "Oh, this is to be expected. This is PVP, right?" And then, while watching from the safety of a blinking force field, I watch an operative healer wade through dps, shooting kolto probes into her teammate's backsides, everyone at high health - the enemy dps frothing with frustration at their inability to glowstick the healer to death.

In my experience, mercenary healers or operative healers don't have to work as hard as I do, not only to survive, but also to support their teams. This is not just an observation, it's also after playing the three classes in similar situations.

In rateds, in pugs, it doesn't matter -- I'm squishy. Everyone tells me this. I even specialized and geared to maximize survivability. I can handle being trained and dying a lot. I don't expect to be guarded or baby-sat. I can swallow my 14 deaths and 600k+ damage taken and queue back up with optimistic determination.

What does bother me, though, is the fact, my rated team wants to replace me with a mercenary healer since they are guaranteed some uptime, where I am guaranteed nothing. And according to them, queuing without an operative healer is "retarded". Please don't lop my head off for this analogy, but I feel like a discipline priest without the pain suppression. Sorry, it was the only thing I could think of. In other words:

Where's my one opportunity to actually participate in the match? (if you remember, it was often a tactic to switch targets once the pain suppression was cast on a player. No, I'm not asking for a "pain suppression". It's just an analogy.)

As far as DPS sorcerers are concerned, I understand they're in a woeful state. Our rated team also wants to prune them away and two have already rerolled with, in their words, much better results (powertech and sniper). And that's sad, because those sorcerers were not only heftily geared, but great players.

I hope this post does not leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth. This is just my experience and my boss is not here, so I want to play around on the computer like everyone else.

Excellent post, this sums up my feelings too.

The class is playable, just not optimal. A good player on a sorc healer < a good player on another heal class. In high end PvP mobility and defence is king, not output.
