  1. "Underdog guilds" should, mechanically and lore-wise, not have much of a chance at winning. You're literally conquering a planet, after all. Who should have a better chance at this - 500 well-organised people, or 12 scrappy 'underdogs'?

You dont need an army to conquer a planet just a good 12 man squad ;) anyway I see where you are coming from and yes the system is that great numbers and more resources gets you the win which makes sense but the guilds who come in the top 10 are usually within the same realm and there is just one guild that just smashes the crap out of the rest with scores that no other guild can beat. Yes I have seen them be beaten maybe once or twice, but It would be nice to see some other guilds win for once I dont know how they can balance it fairly maybe its meant to be unfair I dont know. I guess im tired of seeing second and third place with close scores and first place nearly 4x higher scores.

  2. I think this thread is quite valid I am on Jedi covenant and the same kinda thing happens a select few guilds dominate the scene and leave little for the rest which is a shame it makes smaller guilds feel like they cant make a difference. I think OP solutions are quite acceptable im sure BW can experiment a bit with different formula's to see what works best. The question of if you cant beat them join them is a bit meh to be honest for me those kinda of guilds you become a number - rank and file, its not the kind of guild experience I personally look for. Though I enjoy conquest I see smaller guild really try and win coming in the top 10 just about every week and conquest does take some time and effort to compete in. It would feel like you are wasting all that effort for nothing because the change of winning are slim to none, sure you get the standard rewards and they do help the guild but the point of conquest is to win. Also your theory that all great dynasties crumble is accurate, great dynasties last along time though and swtor has been going for what 6 ish years? (I know conquest is relatively new feature though) that is still a long time to wait for a small fry guild to finally win a conquest lol. So I am for upping the underdog guilds!
  3. You can also point a finger at BW for not having the requirements set for ranked PVP and NiM raids, players should not be able to join such raids or que for ranked pvp if they do not fit the gear requirement, valor, have an active stim blah blah. People flame the **** outta players for just joining and trying content, though yes they are in the wrong place it is unlikely you will see it happen again (with the same player), its a lot easier to kindly explain why they shouldn't be there and give them some motivation to reach that level. High level players need to set a good example for new players and fresh 70's etc and in this case slightly ignorant players? It seems that OP did know what they were getting into but did it anyway but was met with some serious heat which is not acceptable, those players most likely suffered 1 loss and the world was over for them. As OP said this is just a game and we don't want to make the community worse the best thing to do it ignore the toxic people and move on, yes they are present will they go away no. I like to believe that the swtor community is nice which it is majority of the time but in reality in the higher level content you will find the more toxic players that have no tolerance for mistakes and ignorance. This is because most higher level players expect that every other high level player is within the same realm and knowledge base as them which is not the case. I have in the past flamed the **** out of 'noobs' im sure most people have but looking back now that did not help that player in the slightest I probably just ruined their day. Turned this into a bit of rant, not trying to be a white knight or whatever, just saying what ive seen in the game and how to deal with it in more pleasant manner :)
  4. We were on a Hammer Station yesterday where the fourth didn't even login to the FP until after we cleared the first boss and then managed to get themselves killed, twice, with all the trash cleared between the first and second boss. We finally had enough and vote kicked, then finished the FP with a companion.

And people complain when players get mad about this kinda stuff, really grinds my gears. I know people have lives outside SWTOR and maybe they are just not great at the game, fine that's all good but why que if you don't join then continually die lol....just do some solo PVE content and get better or stay for the FP and ask for tips and make it look like you trying. I like to consider myself a nice person but there are some people on swtor that push me to limit smh :D

  5. As Merovejec said since the group finder system has changed to take any lvl (15+) any class and any role and make a 4 man group some of the flashpoints can be very hard. You will find the older flashpoints will be a lot easier and can be done with 4 dps classes with little to no problems, however the problems is with the newer flashpoints such as blood hunt, depths of manaan etc. I would suggest doing a toggle search on group finder and removing the newer flashpoints from the list and queuing for the older ones you will find them much easier to complete. Hope this helps :)
  6. You can't force fit the trinity on PvP, tanking has no place because most people are smarter than an NPC.

Tanking in PvP is for people who get emo over pixel death.

I think you are missing the point, you keep hating on guard and tanks and how unfair they currently are and your solution is to outright remove tanks from PVP or remove guard. It is the job of the tank to take damage for the team, like you said people do not target tanks because it is highly ineffective. So guard helps tanks be useful. You cannot remove an entire class from pvp in swtor it would cause too many problems, but I do agree with the fact that dps classes still get guard which can be removed imo. The fact that PVP is out of control at the moment is because tanks and heals are running wild with soaking up damage and healing every bit of damage, the real solution to this is there is no proper matchmaking. If a team had one/two tanks each and one/two healers each and some dps it would be a skilled base match, the match would be determined by the players who can outplay their opponents. From there BW can then look at classes properly and decide what class has OP features in a even match.

  7. Are ladies really that desperate for a male force user romance, you'll go for the man that locked their characters away for 5 years, tried to kill them numerous times, nearly destroyed the galaxy and everything they worked for?

Yet Quinn 'betrays' them once, and he ends up dying violently for it over 1/2 a decade after the fact?

Surely there are better options out there.

I think Arcann would be a good romance option as would Vaylin (though I dont know how they would incorporate it) both very dark characters, twisted romances are complex :D can be interesting and more fun. Not a big fan of boot licker Quinn, dont know why you want to romance him haha though as warrior companions go they dont have very good male romance options imo (some of the best females though).

  8. Don't spread this nonsense. Guard is a very interesting take on an otherwise largely ignored role in PvP.

The "other" games you talk about offer no place for tanks in arena settings whatsoever.

Bioware found a very nice solution to that.

Now either or not 50% is the correct amount is a far more legitimate argument to have.

Although you really should look at healing first before you change stuff there.

I agree a tank is solely not THAT capable they need a healer to be truly effective. Sure they negate a lot of damage, but without heals they will lose to a dps heavy team with heals.

  9. Exactly and the fact people were told we were going back to the roots of the game but that didn't end up happening is what pushed many away. Yes, KotFE and KotET were very story-oriented which was amazing, however, the direction of the story was completely not what players wanted or were asking for. We were suddenly taken away from our original factions, put in a abstract third faction and completely lost class story individuality. Companions were made to feel like interchangeable furniture and all of those things were one of the main reasons people were leaving, aside from the lack of group content of course. But I am convinced the narrative and the direction the narrative went was one of the other reasons too.

Bioware should stop trying to come up with something new for the game and instead polish up the stuff that made the game great. Go back to Republic vs Empire, Jedi vs Sith. Go back to class stories being unique or at least bring that back as much as is possible with the available resources. Go back to the original game companion interactions where they were given meaning and depth. Bioware could garner so much more favour for Lana, Theron or Koth if they had given them companion scenes like in the original game.

Bioware is fighting a losing battle, I feel like they are at the point if they dont get it right by the end of this year SWTOR will eventually die in the next few years. I know subscription is not expensive I am totally willing to subscribe I am just having a hard time trying to find the motivation to enjoy the game like I used to. I still love the game and I dont want it to die (Ive invested a lot in this game) but really its not been looking to great over the last couple of months its hit a stagnation phase for sure. Getting back more to the original topic though XD romance in Bioware games is fundamental the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series had great romances so did SWTOR vanilla but hopefully the roadmap for 2017 sheds some light on the whole romance and companion section of the game!

  10. I know that pretty much makes all tokens legacy wide apart from the light and dark ones but lets be real character tokens for Iokath is stupid as some of the dailies cost credits and shards (tokens) to start and complete...cmon Bioware I would rather do Blackhole than Iokath dailies. As for the Fleet tokens how many people actually to the space mission now days and the cost of the grade 7 ship equipment cost is so high and the missions are such a grind and if you have lots of toons then gearing ships is just...no thanks. I just want to be able to do grade 7 space missions so I can get my Fleet reputation up, is that too much to ask :D The last one is bit irrelevant as I believe the roadmap for 2017 mentioned that PVP tokens will be made legacy wide which will be welcome change! Bioware take into account we have LOTS (24) of toons and the whole rinse and repeat process can get old real quick.
  11. Exactly! Acina would have been a very interesting romance option especially if you'd be able to marry her. That would truly make the alliance you set up with the Sith Empire feel more worthwhile, or with Jace Malcom if you pick the Republic as your ally. Adding [Flirt] to a dialogue option is not the same as actually having a romance narrative. That is something I feel Bioware has forgotten sadly.

Also, I know resources and the lack of them are likely a reason why we didn't get more elaborate companion interactions in between chapters. But that's the entire issue with Bioware and their drive to win back subscribers. They add new shiny stuff such as the Eternal Championship or Iokath PVP, but they don't see that the key to winning back subscribers is much easier... just go back to what you did in the original game. Don't try to be something new with SWTOR, just be the SWTOR you were before all the expansions. Go back to the story content you implemented in the vanilla game, Republic vs Empire, Jedi vs Sith, class story individuality and classes mattering in story content... that is what gave you subscribers, that is what made SWTOR such a great game and the lack of those things in new content is what pushed players and subscribers away from the game.

The time Bioware invested unnecessarily in for example the Eternal Championship or Iokath PvP they could have invested in companion dialogue scenes in between chapters of KotFE and KotET and writing and developing deep and meaningful romance interactions. That is what we players want to see and that or better said returning to that is what will bring back subscribers.

You are totally right, I think Bioware is trying too hard to win back the subscribers and pumping out the wrong kind of content, its great they are still making new content for the game alas not the sort that majority of people are looking for. I know that they have a lot less resources to work with now, but I would be more encouraged to subscribe if they took the extra time to polish their content and add more depth into the story content. I thought the Iokath daily area was a huge let down its almost as dead a blackhole XD and I would rather do blackhole dailies (the Iokath ones have stupid credit and shard prices for some dailies). The new expansions were meant to go back to the roots of the game which was story telling, the best thing that has come from the new content is the raid hahaha the story was fine just lacked that extra polish that most people were looking for.

  12. If your old companion comes back you do have the option to break up with Lana/Theron/Koth - by choosing to resume your old romance you end the one with L/T/K. So that exists at least.

Mhmm maybe I have overlooked or missed that option, its been a while since ive have played that storyline :D. Thanks for the clarification though!

  13. A great start is the 230 gear (tier 1 gear vendor, supplies section on each fleet) as it just requires command tokens now (from command crates) it is relatively cheap for a full set :) and tokens are legacy wide.
  14. Bioware: Patch 5.4 nerf sorc/sage heals XD, Patch 5.5 buff sorc/sage heals XD, Patch 5.6 nerf sorc/sage heals....

But you are correct it does seems that dps and tanking is becoming useless, from the dawn of time though it has been known that the Imp side is better at PVP just because they are more co-ordinated and have better team comps. Its not really a question of balance the class itself it more of question of having a balanced teams and tactics. Yes having large amounts of healers tips the balance but if both teams had the same amount of healers, dps and tanks it becomes a question of skill. I think a solution would be to have a similar group finder que, that you que as a role and a team should have even amounts of each role. I know that is how a success ranked team works and it should be implemented into unranked as well as it can be super one sided.

  15. I really enjoyed the prelude to Shadow of Revan FP's it was just awesome to see Tython and Korriban in ruin from an assault from the Republic and Empire. Also when they first came out they finished on cliffhanger and it was one of main reasons why I purchased the Shadow of Revan DLC. They are short and sweet and give you some nice rewards and they even have a gear vendor that probably most people forget that has an awesome Jedi/consular set that you can get from the relic's (completion reward) claimed in the FP's.
  16. I totally agree the romance options in the new expansions were almost sidelined, it was just a lot of meaningless flirting options with characters such as Malcom and Acina (wouldnt mind romancing Acina she is an interesting character). I felt forced to romance Lana, though she is good and all I prefer Vette and Kira and the vanilla game romances. We even got Vette back and the chemistry between the warrior and her is just gone, its like she forgot who my Jugg was :( Like you said they made the romance scenes more fancy with new animations and graphic but they took the depth away. Now it just feels like relationships out of convenience. I just hope WHEN and IF Kira comes back she remembers my knight XD or at least comments on the fact that I betrayed her for Lana. It would also be cool if there was an option to dump Lana for Kira LOL. I think Bioware could make use of the cantina on odessen or a spot on Iokath for more companion interaction and romance pursuits. My last note will be let us romance SATELE SHAN plz!!!!! :D
  17. I only do GSF for the intro mission exp lol, other than its mostly dead no pops for hours. If it does actually pop its a solid mix of expert pilots and nubs (me) :D Honestly dont think they can fix it, there just is not enough interest in it. The concept is great but the execution was meh. Bit of shame though they had quite the in-depth system with all the unlocks, companion combinations and ship variety. RIP GSF you will not be missed....by me XD
  18. They definitely have some weight to them for example in the 5th film in the Wampa cave the lightsaber is lodged half way in the snow and Luke struggles to get it out (though being upside down and wounded) shows there is some weight to them as small/medium objects should be easy to lift for force users. Also keep in mind the materials used to make them can differ, I believe I saw Wookie padawan in the animated series make a lightsaber out of wood which could be lighter compared to a more metallic one (then again Wookies have a lot more strength than a regular human so it would be near weightless XD). I would also like to think that force also acts with magnetic qualities in regards to a lightsaber, as the Jedi and saber itself are opposites so they attract. Also when you think of magnets coming together they slightly jiggle before they are pulled together, this also happens in a lot of films and SWTOR trailers. I not entirely sure how they work apart from requiring a Kyber crystal to function, but I believe since Jedi are both invested into the force and science, etc its a mixture of scientific components with additional force qualities such as activation and retrieval. It is slightly mind boggling that they seem so easy to use as non force users can easily turn one on and start it swinging around. I would have thought since one of the padawan's trials is building a lightsaber there would be genetic lock on them or some safety switch lol (I guess it would defeat the point of General Grievous claiming Jedi's weapons though). That is all I have to say on the topic, just throwing some ideas out there :) sorry for the terrible grammar.
