  1. That's an interesting idea. I am for investigating it.

    Hello all,

I think i've figured out a relatively simple way that Bioware could improve the overall player participation in GSF as well as the experience for newcomers:

    Create a Mentorship Program

-Add 2 weekly quests to the PVP mission terminal.

-1 type of quest can only be accepted by subscribers who have mastered at least 1 ship, this is the mentoring quest and it should pay a very large amount of credits (i'm talking 100k+). In order to complete it the mentor must obtain a number of mentorship tokens, this token can only be earned by playing with someone who is currently on the Greenhorn quest (see quest #2). Having more than one greenhorn in your group grants more than one token.

    - The Greenhorn quest is only available to players who have played less than X number of missions and do not have a mastered ship. The quest reward is a large amount of ship requisition (probably equal to the weekly). The Greenhorn completes this quest by running a certain number of matches while in a group with someone who is on the Mentor quest.

    What do you guys think?

The idea here is that aces will be incentivized to fly with newbies in 4 man premades of 1 ace to 3 newbies. This both serves to balance out the ques and breakup the experienced pilots every so often. It also hopefully promotes the aces to pass on some guidance to the newbies (if for no other reason than to make flying with them more tolerable). Aces get paid, newbies get experience in a more balanced setting and more reqs to beef up their ships. Everyone wins.

  2. Well, I have several pet peeves (but I still really enjoy this game)

    (1) Spaceport/planetary travel too cumbersome

    (2) The GTN needs a complete overhaul in terms of user friendliness and functionality.

    (3) In WZ's, maybe they could reduce the time a bit to cap objectives.

    (4) Added -- Chat...can the default be the same as the chat channel...should be easy fix.

  3. I just started playing SWTOR, and have a level 55 sorcerer. I like playing the WZ's, and have been learning more about the pvp armor sets, etc. But sometimes, I feel like I am doing something wrong because I just do not seem to be doing any damage against other players, and I get cut down fast without heals.

I have a Madness build. What I try to do is use my damage over time items first so I can start the clock ticking right away. Then I use shock and force lightning, as I rotate in the stuns/interrupts. When I see groups I use the force storm. Is there a better rotation?

Also, I am not totally familiar with the other classes yet, but it seems like there are a few out there with stealth capability that stun me and then hit me with several consecutive blows that are really damaging. Is there any way for me to avoid that initial stun? Will static barrier do it?

  4. Back in SWG, there used to be city battles, where either imps or rebs would be attacking/defending a city, such as Bestine. It was really fun because it existed on several worlds, and the times would be staggard every several hours. There were NPC forces on each side (+ vehicles), including a "General" boss type unit for the defender. Different classes have different ways to contribute to the effort -- PVP battle, slicing, crafting/building, etc.

We had some great, great battles on those invasions! If I were a producer for SWTOR, I might give it some good consideration!

  5. At the same time, implement a working and meaningful way of booting people out of the game that are sabotaging it for everyone else, be it through maliciousness or through sheer idiocy.

Vote kicking doesn't work and therefore the players are left with only one viable option, leave the game and hope to get another one with different folks.

Why doesn't the vote kicking work? I am pretty new to WZ's...has it ever worked?

  6. I have been playing WZ's for about 2 weeks. Queuing solo, and I can already see this is a huge problem. I can understand people getting frustrated at a lack of teamwork or even basic strategy/skills/common sense, but I also don't like people ditching matches. Yesterday, 6 people ditched our PUG team. Wow!

To date, I have never ditched (although I have been tempted for sure). I like to think that I can try to give a few humble suggestions in chat that can help turn things around. I've also joined a PVP guild, so hopefully group ranked warzones will be in my future.

I really hope the developers address this issue -- and fast. My personal suggestion: If a person ditches, then they have a lockout timer (account wide) for say 2 hours.

  7. into a warzone, only for the 'defeat' screen to pop up two seconds after your character loads...LOL. That happened to me on Voidstar the other day. It was kind of funny, yet also irritating as hell.
  8. I am pretty new to PVP warzones, but are there supposed to be two different buttons to queue solo for ranked play versus unranked.

If I have a small group, say 3 people, can I queue for group warzones? Or is 8 required?

  9. I just subscribed after playing for about a month. Basically, I made the change because I was enjoying the warzones and did not want the restriction on the weekly number I could play.

I enjoy the PVP aspect, and am learning and getting better. However, I have to say that the deserting is bad and makes for a bitter experience. I admit I have been frustrated at getting my butt kicked 6-0 in Huttball with a team that is bickering and has no strategy. Hopefully BW will take some steps to incentify people to stay in the game.

Maybe a lockout timer for deserters might be appropriate. or as other have mentioned, a debuff.
