  1. Because that's the point of MMO. To play with other players. If you wanted to do everything solo and be a one man wrecking crew, then hop on the train back to Mass Effect, Dragon age, or the Witcher. This game, like all the other MMO's, had group play as the focus. Otherwise, you wouldn't hear people talking about ff14 so much.

Eeeeh, no. MMO does not mean you have to play with others, or that the focus should be exclusively, or even mostly on group content. You are quite wrong there, my dude.

In fact, as of right now I only play one other MMO, Albion. It is tremendously focused on group content and pvp (much more than SWTOR, by far) and yet i play it solo. Granted it is much harder, and more unforgiving, but it can be played solo and not only that, the devs are catering more and more to solo players with new updates, which shows that solo players can possibly be the future of these games. Any MMO that doesnt focus or at least strongly pays attention to solo players is doomed.

  2. I have a way for you.

They could have taken the Nautolan NPC models that are in-game and given us that.

We would have had one eye colour, one way of arranging the tresses, one face per sex, two skin colours, and no other customisation options at all.

While I agree that they could have done it lots better than they did(1), there are plenty of ways they could have been worse.

    (1) I'd have preferred it if the male faces didn't look mostly like Advoszec.

Agreed, it could have been worse. It can always be worse.

Still, I would have taken the in game models any day over the ones we have now, even if we couldnt modify the braids, or hair (tentacles?), in game models are way nicer to look at than the allergic swollen faces we have now, imo.

  3. So, i got the Nautolan species long ago as a sub reward. I never checked it out, usually i make Humans, Cyborgs or Twileks (Sith Eyes for Twileks, it's about time ffs...) but today i thought i would take a look at Nautolans.

I felt a mix of dissapointment and amusement. Seriously, i dont know how to make it sound constructive, it's just... they couldnt have been made worse even if they tried lol.

For reference, this is a proper Nautolan:

    https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Leeha_Narezz

But the Nautolans that us players get seem to have been stung by a whole colony of bees or wasps, or be suffering from a severe seafood allergic reaction. Anyone feel the same? I mean, Leeha Narez and other Nautolans in game are just beautiful, but this...

  4.

When you are not online everyday, and you still want to make the GS deadline, you pretty much have to do the exact quests they tell you to. This seems to be at odds with the 'play your own way' philosophy. Especially when these quests require a specific skill (PvP and GSF) or time investment (OPs). This can make certain parts of the game not viable for a lot of players.

Absolutely agreed on this, and it worries me quite a lot. GS seems a nice addition, the problem is, i wanna play whatever i wanna play, and that usually involves questing, and it almost never or never involves fps, ops and pvp. Therefore for the casual player like me who plays on and off, and who has real life stuff going on and cant be playing 24/7, GS may turn out a totally useless addition.

Still, that wouldnt make it different from 90% of the stuff they added since the game launched, so i guess i'll keep playing my space barbie simulator.

  5. Hey there op,

I understand if not all, some of the points you make, like the economy-related rant. I've also had an on-off relationship with the game throughout its history, and for players like us who dont play every day for years, but instead play for a few months here and there, it's impossible to keep up with the economy. I've just come back from a break that lasted more than a year and a half. Some well-known items were 60-80 million credits in the GTN when i left, now those same items are worth hundreds of millions. Honestly i dont know what happened while i was away, but the game's economy is definitely not looking good, and for casual players like us it's simply unaffordable to the point that you can (and should) completely ignore the GTN altogether and buy stuff directly off the CM if you wish to.

Still, the game offers a lot of content for the sub i pay, even if it has evolved into space barbie, which it has, actually. I also agree on the quality of the content drastically dropping after the vanilla stories (and i mean absolutely plummeting), yet i've finished 5 out of the 8 vanilla stories, currently playing the 6th one, and i feel like there still a metric ton of content ahead of me to play.

It all boils down to whether or not you enjoy the game as it is: it's a single player space-barbie game that may or may not include roleplaying, and may or may not include group content such as pvp, depending on your preferences. In my case, i truly enjoy dressing my toons up the exact way i want to (and i mean the whole thing, 3-4 outfits for different weather and contexts, proper pets and weapons, other customization options like flairs and titles, and properly dressed companions too), playing the missions and stories, listening to the conversations and voice-acting, and generally exploring and getting lost in the forests, swamps, deserts and city suburbs in this huge galaxy while i cross paths with other players.

That's what the game is right now. It's up to you to decide if you take it as is or not. Reflect on what the game offers and decide if it suits you, if the answer is no, well then you best leave, yes.

  6. Just now i encountered another very, very dubious choice. I carried on with my Sage story, and in a class mission I faced a chocie as follows:

I got 3 choices. 2 of those were actually the same, Light Side choices both consisting in saving a woman. The 3rd choice was Dark Side, and it involved letting her die but getting some holocrons containing data that could save millions. Like, seriously?

Needless to say i went for the DS one, bc i truly think that is the absolute "greater good" option.

now try doing it without the LS/DS decoder ring telling you which one to choose. I had quite a few d'oh! momemnts in 2011-12. <insert non-existent  emoji here>

Im planning on doing this and i think im gonna switch off the DS/LS hints. It will be interesting to compare my own moral compass to that of the game's.

  7. An example i've just encountered. Right now i'm playing a Sage, i never played the consular story before so i thought ok, let's go for it. Here i am on Taris, and i happen to come across a batallion of soldiers who are actually deserters. Now, the LS option is to let them get away with it, while the DS option is to force them to go back and keep fighting.

I took the LS option, allowed them to escape, only to find out that all their partners in arms will now have a way harder time bc some of their mates are deserters, cowards, and were dissatisfied with their military destination.

I feel like these actual dilemmas happen to appear every so often, maybe even more in Imperial stories. On the one hand i enjoy thinking about it over and over, and actually deciding something somewhat "meaningful", with a deeper substance to it even if it doesnt affect the story. However, as opposed to that, i feel like many of these options are labeled wrong, and in fact probably such labels should be removed altogether, otherwise some of these options absolutely make no sense.

  8. If the game were more accurate, nobody would play non- force sensitive classes. Why? Because they would all be trash.

This is the simple truth. In the SW universe, force users are the apex predators, and nobody can ever face them. Only in very far fetched and seldom cases can a non force user, with all the technology, cheats and exploits they can get, fight a force user and survive the encounter.

The conclusion is, as stated before, play whatever you want. A single saber strike, a single force lightning should be enough to cut any merc, operative, commando or scoundrel in half. A single force push or force choke would tear any non force user apart, simple as that. This isnt true in this game, so play whatever floats your boat, whatever is the fanciest for you, and if you enjoy glowsticks, by all means play with glowsticks.

  9. Welcome back! People have answered your question, but I just wanted to mention that if you are starting a new character and playing through the whole story, you won't need to worry about SoV for quite a while. By the time you get there, the flashpoint may have been nerfed and the weird sporadic bugs may have been fixed. Also, your character will almost certainly hit max level during the class story and start collecting gear. The flashpoint is much easier at gear level 306 than at gear level 270, so the higher your gear level, the better off you will be.

Yeah i assumed this would be the case, im taking it slow and enjoying every mission and every bit of story and lore that i can find everywhere, so actually i have enough content for quite a while, but still, the issue worried me. Anyway yes, it will prolly be fixed before i get there, hopefully. Thanks for the answers though.

  10. You called out the person who originally got trolled but you didn't call out the original troll in the FP?

It's not properly phrased, it's ambiguous, therefore we cant know for sure if the emote spammer/harasser is the first toxic person, or the second one who actually got angry after being bullied during the fp. Still, im assuming the op refers all the time to the first player who committed offense against the others and displayed toxicity during the fp.

  11. Even though i get your point, i think you are mistaken if you believe they didnt consider all aspects, pros and cons, before doing this. In fact, i'd say it's because they considered them that they will do it, probably bc it's highly requested and/or a tremendously QoL in every way to have a fleet apartment.

Therefore, this would mean satisfying a large portion of the plauerbase, and i truly think you cant go against that. Trying to force people to use something they dont wanna use will do no good. More options are always welcome, we should all be able to choose how we want to play this game. My 2 cents.

  12. CS prolly didnt make Ranos available for you bc that would imply making it available for everyone for whatever problem they had that prevented them from completing DvL, or for no reason at all.

That being said, i do think unavailable stuff should come back. Talking about exclusives in this and other games means opening Pandora's box, but BW made their stance clear by bringing back the HK chapter, among others, and im all for it.

Also, you strike me as a nice person. I wish i could give you my Ranos, and i hope you get what you pursue, here you have a supporter for your cause. No reason why we shouldnt all enjoy the game the way we want to, i've always felt my enjoyment shouldnt be based on having stuff others dont. Good luck here's hoping you get Ranos soon.

  13. Hi all, so i've returned to the game after more than a year away. Im getting the hang of the game and everything, yet i see complaints everywhere about SOV.

Im gonna level a jugg doing aaaaalllll the story and everything again, so, is the bugged SOV something i should be worried about? Will it prevent me from progressing in the story, and what are the possible solutions or workarounds once i get to that point?

    Thanks all.

PS: What happened to the gtn, like, seriously?? The prices seem way, way overinflated, what's this sorcery...

  14. Pvp has the same problem: people have to q blind. Nobody should be forced to play content they don't enjoy, especially not with a threat of "penalty". I mean seriously, it's a game. Most of us pay for it, and I want to enjoy what I'm paying for. I don't care if they put 24 hour lockout in pvp, I will drop a group if I don't like it and not q for another 30 days or so (that's how much I play pvp now). Even with 20 min lockout you will you just get a warzone full of people who hide in the corners or won't participate in any way. They might even feed kills to the enemy to get it over faster. Actually I would probably do just that. :D Because you can not force people into playing something they don't want to play. Simple as that.

Yes we pay for the game, and yes we want to enjoy it. But your enjoyment cant kill the enjoyment of others, and viceversa. The problems comes when i que pvp, and then right before the wz starts there are 1-3 quitters, and we end up losing. Then what, i just suck it and move on?

I'ts not forcing people, there are rules in the game mode. You abide them, and play according to them. I can right now que pvp and quit later without penalty, so i assume it and move on, even though i'd prefer if it was done differently. Same with fps, there are rules, so when you que, you must keep them in mind and assume the consequences, otherwise dont que.

The original posted wrote about the attitude of some of the people in group finder, which I also find disgusting. You should go preach them about mental maturity. Considering how much you are defending their right to ruin the game from everyone else, one could think you are one of them.

I will continue to drop any group I don't like if I want to. That's why there is an option to leave a group with just a mouse click. I will just log another toon and q again. I'm paying for the game and I have every right to choose the people I play with. If randoms are being jerks, they can be jerks without me. There's absolutely nothing you or anyone else can do to force me to interact with toxic people.

I don't mind if longer and more difficult fps are rewarded better. I prefer doing them anyways. But with better rewards there's a risk that those HS graduates will also start q'ing for them, and that would not be great...

No im not one of those brats, that's why i said i very rarely run fps, im simply not in the mood to deal with jerks. And yes they should grow up, but the point still stands, when you go into group finder, you know the drill.

You can keep dropping groups, and you'll keep getting the penalty, is all. If you wanna group with other people, you must be ready for all the possible consequences of taking part in that activity.

  15. The lockout timer should be removed. There is none in pvp, there should be none in pve. That way people can leave groups they don't want to be in and don't have to log another toon to be able queue again. Sometimes I've used the lockout time to add those idiots to all my toon's ignore lists, which is time well spent as well.

Or another other option would be to make GF rewards same for those who Q completely random and have all boxes ticked, and for those who select only the ones they want to play. That way HS farmers would be happy, and so would the players who are capable of completing other content as well.

As others said, if there was no lockout time, ppl would just reque infinitely until they get what they want. In fact, the lockout time should ALSO be in pvp, to prevent rage quitters. So many times i've had complete teams in a wz or arena, only for 1-2 ppl to leave right when it starts, so in the end we were 6vs8 or 3vs4 and obviously you lose. I'd be totally in favor of pvp 20min lockout to prevent that.

If you que, then you que, deal with the result as a mentally mature person. Otherwise, dont que.

And the rewards cannot be given all the same for the one who uses random gf and the one who only ticks HS, because the former is potentially taking the risk of a longer, more difficult fp and should be rewarded accordingly, it's simple as that.

I get the op's point, i get it. It happened to me too, so i can understand the feeling. Therefore, i always think it twice before queing, hence why most of the time i prefer to do solo activities.

  16. Hey there guys,

I have a few questions about renown and gearing.

1- I've been toying around with one of my toons, he's full 276 gear rating, and yet when i opened a renown crate, i got 274 stuff. Supposedly, i should get 278+ amirite? I gotta say, he didnt have a tactical equipped, but the rest ofthe gear was 276 minimum.

2- I've almost decided on giving up pvp, but still i'm trying it out a bit here and there. Now, i go into matches with the 276 gear, and all my teammates are full 306 gear, im often the only one who's not. A few even whisper to me that my gear sucks. Am i supposed to grind full 306 gear only to be able to compete in pvp?

So, in conclusion, do i need a full 306 gear set in order to remotely play any pvp or endgame activity? I'm a solo player, i just play story and a few pvp matches to spice things up, but pvp is a stunfest and it sucks already as it is, only arenas and huttball, so totally not worth it if i also need a full 306 gear set. Btw my numbers in wzs are just, ok i guess.

  17. Been trying out pvp in the last week or so, and yes, it's either arenas (good luck if you are in a pug group vs a premade, yea) or Huttball pretty much all of the time. I've seen Voidstar twice, and NC once, and i played a good bunch of wzs.

Boring. Huttball is ok, too much Huttball sucks. Personally i dislike arenas a lot, they should be a ranked-only scenario. So yea, i'm out of pvp again, and for good.

  18. I don't think that's very hard either! :D

I'm about to spread some shade around.

Either or for knight, female consular, female smuggler, female trooper, male agent, male warrior, male BH, female inquisitor. Those are the most multipurpose.

Female warrior's voice actress is too good at sounding sinister to me to be 100% light side, but I played her neutral. Male inquisitor is the only one I really dislike though, he just sounds cartoonish evil, like it's all a bit too over the top. I can't play male smuggler because their voice actor voices every NPC in every other video game ever and I can't unhear that. Female BH is the only one I just lack any interest in.

Male tooper is Varric from Dragon Age and female agent is female Hawke and Ciri in Witcher, therefore I prefer the opposite option for those. Nolan North I find miscast for the male consular, I would have payed cartel coins to have him voice the male smuggler.

Yea i also have some classes which i always go male, or female, depending. But for some classes i really struggle to decide.

Warrior: All my warriors are male, only 1 is female, but BW almost always teases warrior as female in their trailers, and somehow i'm led to believe this class is meant to be female, even though male looks and voice fit better, imo.

Agent: I like both so, so much. I'm always in a problem when i reroll an agent, really, i never now if i prefer going melae or female.

Smuggler: same as agent, i think male fits better for the voice and funny bits, but still female is quite good too. Hard choice.
