  1. So, officially, there's no way to outmatch arsenal with innovative ordnance in ranked?

I regularly out dps every arsenal merc on my server with IO by a good amount. My dps with IO in ranked sits somewhere between 4.5 and 5.5k depending on how often im being stunned. Arsenal can NOT compete with IO damage wise, but it is easier to use and more forgiving. Screwing up your rotation in IO can cause large amounts of down time. As long as you keep control of your heat, you should always out damage arsenal mercs of similar skill level.

  2. Why do people still say this?

Blocking, or more precisely, mitigating damage is meaningless if you cannot survive the spikes. At some point you take 2-3 hits in a row. The damage profiles of many NM encounters - and a couple HM ones - in no way align with, as you say, min-max gear.

And, frankly, on the others it doesn't matter.

Tanks that are actually killing difficult content do not gear for highest possible mitigation -- or they wouldn't be killing it.

uhm...you're stupid. And if you're doing NiM right and having a PT eat all the spikes, mitigation should not be a problem. Tanking is the easiest part of NiM content, cause all you have to do is hold aggro and pop a cd if healers are stressed from dps standing in dumb. This whole topic is stupid, tanks are completely fine where they are. 220 Bmods give more then enough health to survive spikes, and if you're not retarded you can force mitigation.

  3. <Force hounds> Is a new PvE and PvP guild on Ebon hawk. Just starting we are currently looking for people who wish to do progression content. The guild leaders, Dewinter Corvinus and Annylia are both experienced in HM content and are very willing to help new players who to take part in end game raiding.

You can find both of us online most of the day. We have teamspeak are close to getting a flagship. We plan to take part in conquest PvP once we get the guild to a sizable place. Find us ingame for an invite, we are accepting all players of any skill degree.

  4. Look, Im upset that my sorc was nerfed and I can no longer solo heal HM SNV and HM TFB. But even with the nerfs I fall asleep solo healing HM KP and HM EV. Sorc healers are still amazing. I noticed almost drop in my hps during warzones and a very minor one during raids.

Dont mean to be a dick, but you clearly are just kinda bad at sorc.

  5. You can't be sleep darted when white barred.

Every second of hard stun generates 200 resolve. I.e Electrocute (without +1s utility) gives 800 resolve. With +1 utility electrocute instantly white barres you when used. Carbonise is a 2.5s hard stun (without utility) and as such gives 500 resolve. However since resolve depletes at a regular interval powertechs can easily use 2 Carbonise soon after one another and not completely fill your resolve bar. As such, 3 Powertechs can easy enough chain stun a group of people if used properly.

Resolve should deplete, anything else is dumb. Running around with resolve until someone maxes it is just bad design. The current system works quite well, imo.

That is not how resolve works...every form of cc generates a set amount of resolve. Carbonise generates 375 resolve. Electrocute generates 800. Electrodart generates 900. Spike generates 300. Jugg slap generates 950. Iv sat in warzones and had friends use stuns on me so we could see how resolves works. If your resolve is maxed with a hard stun, you CAN still be sleep darted. We tested this. It is also really dumb how mind trap builds 900 resolve, but sleepdart and flashbang only build 700? How does this make sense?

  6. so as a sorc healer you are complaining?

No, it doesn't matter to much which class I'm playing on. Whether its sorc healing, sorc dps, merc healing, merc dps, sin dps, sin tank, PT tank, OP healing, and even on my jugg. Resolve is ridiculous in the way it is now. Some stuns generate almost no resolves, while others almost fill the bar instantly.

  7. Sorry, i was a little tired when I posted this. But I played about 9 matches last night and had operatives chain mezzing me, and using sleep dart on me while My resolve was full. Their is also the issue of my resolve bar emptying while I'm stunned.

Iv also noticed that certain stuns generate WAY more resolve then others. Electrocute almost fills the resolve bar while carbonite only builds like 1/4 of the bar. So PTs can sit their and chain lock a team in carbonite freezes, but if a sorc stuns then overloads, the bar is full? This just doesn't make sense to me. There is also the issue of resolve emptying before it fills, so stealth classes can reaply mezzes freely simply waiting for it to start emptying then locking you again. I like the resolve system, it just need to be fixed cause Im sick of being stunned while white barred.

  8. Im quitting pvp till BW fixes the resolve system, and i encourage other players to do so as well. resolve is so broken right now it might as well not even be in the game. I get the concept and its cool and all, but it needs to be fixed.
  9. Never stack mastery. Your gear will give you plenty of it. You should be more focused on power vs crit.

Power is consistent damage, crit is a chance on higher damage. I recommend pushing your crit chance upwards of 45% and then switching to power.

  10. Ok, you can call me a pvp noob, but I am not succeding in kiting. Usually, when a mara or jugg focus on me, i use force speed and force slow, temporary get away, use a few skills, but not nearly enough to damage him critically before he gets on me again, then i stun him and again get away, use a few skills and he is unto me again. At this point I have used mostly all of my kiting arsenal which is now on cooldown, and all I can do is run away from him and use skills which can be activated while moving, which is not enough to do serious damage. In the end, he/she catches me and fastly finishes me off. What is it that I should improve or do differently? Thanks in advance.

You are probably losing because you kite. Its better to stand and take the hits because 9/10 times you will outlast them. Using overload+force speed back wards can get a little distance, but they have a leap, so kiting is not a thing. My advice, in a 1v1, stand and take the hits.

  11. i never said that dulfy was law. i said that she is a widely recognized authority on swtor in general. you very casually denigrate her work, with no evidence to support you, but she has a very long record of being right. if you are going to say she is wrong, i for one, am going to need a lot more than some random guy on the forum says so. as for the rest of your post, the op specifically asked regarding "ops, fp, etc." even if you were correct (not), what does parsing against "tank's in full 208 augged gear" have to do with anything?

Because tanks in full 208 ranked pvp gear have a large amount of damage resistance against other players. You can test builds based on how long it takes to kill them. I have spent days going over builds with almost every class, and I created the builds a lot of my guild uses. I am saying, that using less alacrity then the guide states is beneficial, because madness only has 2 channeled abilities, and one of them barley benefits from alacrity while the other can be used while moving if you have taken utility for it.

  12. no offense, but dulfy is a widely recognized authority on swtor in general, and in the post referenced above, the author, Splizza, claims 400 actual parses to arrive at his conclusions. in addition, bants optimal stat post for 4.0 agrees with dulfy. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=847112 i would say to go with lycaena's advice.

No offense, but dulfy is based on a few people's work. Its not law. Dulfy guides are all perfect world against dummies that dont move or hit back. I parse against tank's in full 208 augged gear to test both dps stats and tank stats.

So no, I wouldnt go with the "perfect world" dulfy guides. I will go with the tested against other people builds :)

  13. If you are suggesting that I promote utilizing a bug to increase damage, then I am sorry to say that I refuse to do so. If you are suggesting that I promote hard casting chain lightning, then you can look at the previous discussion on this thread and notice that hard casting is a single target dps loss, so therefore it does not have a place in the rotation.

You clearly don't understand your role as a lightning sorc if you think your single target dps means anything at all. Don't write guides if you are going to promote improper use of a spec. If you want to single target dps as a sorc, play madness. Otherwise learn your role in the team.

  14. My only issue with your guide is that you don't double proc chain lightning. Getting the double insta proc chain lightning is such a huge boost for lightning sorcs. There is no reason to not double cast chain except for the .5ish second wait for the first cast.
  15. As lightning, the best thing to do is double chain lightning proc and kite using the root. Make sure you are using lightening bolt while you kite to keep him slowed.

As madness, don't restack your dots after the first ones wear off. Wait for him to pop ED and then phase walk out, wait for it to burn off. Once it burns off, burn him down with polarity shift.
