  1. Honestly, I feel like almost any class should be able to use any weapon they want with minor restrictions. Ranged classes should be able to have any ranged weapon, imo. There should be less restrictions on dual wielding as well. It should be a playstyle choice, regardless of class/spec.
  2. Hello all,

I'm a returning player. I played in beta and for several months right after release. I quit the game for awhile (not due to disliking the game, but because I was busy IRL). Now that I'm back I'd like to roll a Jedi Knight and have fun with that. I'd like to make him on a PvP server and I'm searching for server suggestions.

What's a good PvP server with a good selection of guilds and at least semi-helpful people? :p Any guild suggestions for a new-ish player on that server?

    Thanks!

  3. A bit disappointing. But, who honestly plays an MMO for the graphics? The game looks fine (I play at 1080p, on a 42" display). I'm happy enough with the graphics, to be able to enjoy the rest of the game immensely.

Not to say that I wouldn't like to see high-res textures. It would certainly add to the game. But for me, the 2D sprite foliage takes away a lot more immersion than the textures do.

  4. I have never died so many times falling down an elevator shaft in my life...

I've literally died 6-7 times from the VIP cantina elevator accidentally falling down.

The other elevators spread throughout the game which are designed like deathtraps, (you have no idea it is an elevator and looks like a hallway) I have fallen down at least 20 times now.

I am not a stupid individual, but this really makes me feel like an idiot... I am probably going to get flamed, but I bet a bunch of other people are having this problem too.

Fix it so the fall dmg is reduced and we get like 20 hp when we fall from the top of an elevator, no one likes dieing in a silly way like this.

Death elevators isn't starwarzy or iconic fun.

P.S. would elevator doors be asking too much?

    Wait...

So you waited to go UP the elevator to the VIP area. Then when you returned, you somehow forgot that it was an elevator, and proceeded to run down what you perceived as a hallway, then fell to your death? And this didn't just happen once or twice...

LMAO! So funny....You suffer from short term memory loss. No game mechanic can repair years of abusing your brain.

  5. Am i the only Smuggler that finds that this isnt an issue for me?

Personally, i dont care for what colour my lasers are...

Im a "Give me the most money" smuggler and i seem to be drifting from -350 Alignment to 300 Alignment which is paying off for most money out of quests...

It becomes an issue when every piece of gear you see that's an upgrade has a light or dark point requirement on it. You'll then be forced to pick light or dark and focus on that if you want gear upgrades.

  6. Aim is the stat you want to increase ALL of the damage done by a Bounty Hunter. Stat priority for all BH DPS specs would be: Accuracy to 105% > Aim > Endurance > Everything Else

Crit, Tech Power and Surge are useful. But you don't need to focus on stacking them, especially at the cost of aim or accuracy. Building a set of Presence gear probably wouldn't be bad for soloing, either. :)

  7. When talking about Dmg reduction its generally referd to talents like Energy shield that gives a flat 20% reduced dmg taken.

Oil slick is not referd to as a dmg reduction talent. If the mob dont miss you will take full dmg during the duration of oil slick, thus all dmg taken. Secondly when the mob miss the dmg havent been reduced but completly avoided. Avoidance and dmg reduction are 2 seperate things.

You generally never talk about dmg reduction "on average"... if you do you will be missunderstod almost every time by players with past MMO experience in tanking.

The OP seemed to understand it almost immediately...

Lowering the chance you have to be hit (whether that's a buff on you or debuff on your attacker) is a direct increase to effective health via reducing the incoming damage. I've never ran into anyone who misunderstood that concept. When I used to post on Elitist Jerks and Tankspot, average damage reduction based on cooldown abilities was not at all misunderstood...in fact it was worked into the forumlae to help more accurately calculate total effective health.

BTW, I'm not new to the MMO or tanking scene, as you seem to be implying. :) I've been extremely active in many tank theorycrafting communities for going on 8ish years now, and have been a tank nearly the entirety of my MMO experience.

  8. You are misstaken im afraid. Oil slick dont reduce dmg taken at all, it only lowers the targets accuracy. If you are unlucky the mobs can still hit every strike, thus neglecting the effect.

If I have 1 mob attacking me, and I lower it's chance to hit me by 20%, I take 20% less damage on average (depending on RNG). It may not be exactly 20% in every case. But over a long enough period of time, it will average out to 20% damage reduction.

You can insert any number of mobs into that statement, and the rest holds true, unless there's a cap on the number of mobs affected by Oil Slick.

  9. hmm yea, too bad you couldn't light the oil on fire for a little bit of aoe damage as well. I guess ill have to wait and see how it goes for me.

I agree...WTH is this flamethrower for if I can't light the oil on fire? lol It would be awesome.

  10. It doesn't give me the feeling like it should be a final talent, it just looks like it belongs in tier 4 or even 3.

Is it just me or am I missing something about it which makes it great?

It seems like 20% damage reduction for 18 seconds is the good part about it. That's pretty dang powerful (if used properly).

  11. Hello all,

I've been playing both a Sith Juggernaut and a Trooper. To be quite honest, the Trooper feels a bit more fun to me (even though light sabers rule! :p). But, I've always been a tank, and usually a main tank class.

I'm curious if a Trooper is capable of main tanking (both flashpoints and operations), if spec'd properly. Or, does SWTOR use the old school system of only allowing one class to main tank?
