When Anthem releases one of two things will happen:
- it is successful. which means that any staff on that project will remain for DLC/Expansion
- it is not successful. which means that BW is probably going the way of Visceral.
Either way, the future for SWTOR is either slow drip content or "maintenance mode"
While what you say is perfectly logical, I think SWTOR is giving them enough cash to keep investing in. I mean its Star Wars! I have a feeling it will be around until the contract expires, and will be worked on with a larger team once Anthem is completed.
They are doing not the best - see the conquest changes no one needs. On the other hands there where no significant story content in the last year - only a little bit story in FPs, no new planet, no greater story update, no new quest hub - nothing for story or single players.
The conquest change was a risk they took, one that did not pay off. But it shows that they are at least trying.
Completely agree on the second part of your post. Hopefully that will improve once Anthem is done.

This topic again?
They don't have the staff. This has been discussed ad infinitum and multiple leaks paint that there is no future for SWTOR until Anthem releases. We will know more after that.
Give them time, they are doing the best they can with what resources they have available.

Any force user, just from the story perspective.
All the expansions after RotHC only make the most sense (sadly) if played from a force users perspective.
-
Same here. Not sure why we have not received another Makeb. I would gladly pay $30 for a planet full of quests, new gear, and powers/abilities.
-
It has to be low to prevent power creep, but I did expect a bit more for the ridiculous cost increase.
-
They are launching 13 new raids, one for each original planet (not counting the starting planets). Dulfy has all the info.
Why must you play with my emotions so?

lmao...
Pretty much...

Who even looks at that? I didnt even know it was there until you mentioned it.
A quick post by Eric a few days before or even mentioning on the stream would have been better. You know, like a community manager should?
Not only that, but it was added to that calendar today. Would have loved to know a week ahead of time so I could take advantage, but whatever.
Just terrible communication from the team.
-
Would be nice if this was mentioned somewhere, like in the event calendar or even Twitter.
If you want to grind CXP, now is the time. 178 hours left for double XP.

Good stuff, thanks.

Great thread.
Solo player here because I only have 1-2 hours/day with tons of interrupts (kids). Can't put a party through the constant interrupts. Love this game because of the solo content, and want everything soloable

Thank you so much for mentioning this.
I am a subscriber. but this is the first time I have seen something like this in Origin.
With the exchange rates from NZ dollar to US dollar this is a fantastic deal.
I appreciate you sharing this and i have purchased this offer through origin and it worked no problem.
however....... I did have a question about the token. That is the only part of the deal that I haven't received. I have done no similar deal previously. do you have any information about this or how it is claimed.
still even if the token doesn't work out. this saved me money.
thank you
EDITED * ohhh i have just read some of the previous pages regarding the lack of token... I'm late to the party lol.
Great.
You are most welcome.
Yep, sorry, the token is a one time only thing. Too bad really, but it is still a great deal on a sub.

Would love to know what events are planned this month, but the even calendar still has last months events.
Would be great if it was updated.
Thanks.

By offering us more content. Hell, start with the HK-55 bonus chapter in the cartel store. I would gladly buy it.
Offer all old content, then start thinking of cool new stuff to put into the Cartel Market.

F2P and cash market was supposed to save the game. But now they’ve broken their own model. F2P or preferred players may not have subbed, but many purchased weekly access tokens to pvp or other activities.
When Bioware removed those access tokens completely, they alienated more F2P people than there are subscribers in the game.
Some of the figures and things I’ve read or got from watching things over the years has shown that there were way more F2P and preferred players than subscribers. Bioware were actually making more money off them than subs alone, that suggests that a large amount of money was being spent on the cash shop and I would guess a big portion of that was access tokens.
The permanent removal of those tokens was a massive mistake IMO and has broken the F2P model they were making money off and actually driven players away from the game.
The simple solution is to put those access tokens back on the CM. They should also add ones to allow F2P and preferred to earn CXP (that would need to be refined as to how many and how fast).
Well of course there are more F2P and preferred players than subscribers. Still, many of us spend money on the cartel market, and if it keeps offering cool stuff (like HK-55 bonus chapter), we will keep throwing money at them.

hi all!
i was just commenting on some official SWTOR Facebook post, when a guy replied to me, that soon, SWTOR might be shut down for good, because EA is moving on to other projects and the devs will be used for Anthem and other games.
Anthem looks cool, i like it, but will they pull the plug on SWTOR?
Anyone know of any sources to confirm or deny this?
And if it is true..how soon will it happen?
Thanks!
SWTOR will not shut down soon.
Unless EA loses the contract to some other company, as is rumored ATM.
-
Probably isn't a big deal, but can we get official confirmation that a new player can use this with the Share the Love promo and/or referral links?
Yes they can. Friend used it.
Thanks for the heads up.You are most welcome.

If anyone wants a cheap sub deal and a mount.
Read all the fine print please.
Specifically this part:
*Can only be redeemed once per 6-month period. Offer limited to one SWTOR account per code. Codes are non-transferable. Players receive one free Outlander character token per SWTOR Premium (Subscribed) account that can be used to create a Level 65 character to play Knights of the Eternal Throne. Plus, you'll get 525 Cartel Coins for the two months of Premium (subscription) game time included with this pack.

After the disaster that was BF2, I ain't either.
I bought the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition (which I still can't download from the buggy PS Store, and have to use my CD), and I STILL couldn't play the way I wanted without spending HUNDREDS more. Yep. $100 to NOT be able to play like I want, and I don't even get all the DLC! Screw EA, done with all their games.
Very happy they may be leaving EA. Just hope it doesn't spell the end of SWTOR.
-
As others have mentioned, the T&C’s imply you will NOT get the 30-days, as it is only for “inactive” (unsubbed) for >90 days.
But SWTOR promos are notorious for ambiguity and inaccuracies.
Small window of hope: they also state all rewards are given on Mar 1. I have NOT seen anyone report the extra 30 days, so I assume that means they are also granted on Mar 1. So maybe a whole bunch of subs will be surprised (but don’t count on it).
I actually have three(!) accounts, 2 presently unsubbed (both over 90 days). This weekend, I plan to RAF link, use the code, and actually sub one of them. I’ll report back what I see. But again, likely nothing till Mar 1 (too late for others to act on).
EA is GARBAGE when it comes to all promotions. In fact, any promotion offered due to a "bug, glitch, mistake", or that "was not authorized", will not be honored.
-
It would be shutdown
Yep, no more SWTOR.
Hopefully it doesn't happen. The game already has virtually no active developers working on it, this would be the end.

Hey folks,
This issue is not related to the security key issue from earlier in the week, it is an issue with our login servers. The team is investigating. More updates as I have them.
-eric
Good to know, thanks.
-
Hey folks,
The team is looking into what is going on. I will pass on updates as I have them.
-eric
Same here. Today has just not been a great day for you guys.

Using The Old Republic™ Security Key for Android.
What is going on? Just fail upon fail today.
Everything I bought at the marketplace failed, even though my balance was lowered, then I get kicked out, and now I can't log back in.
