  1. Personally, I'm unconvinced schematics from UWT is in any way related to criticals. When you crit the mission, you get the purple mats. But getting schematics seems to be completely unrelated to whether or not you get purple mats. I suspect it's a completely different random chance.

Agreed, I see schematics drop on no-crit mission returns.

  2. While the 1.2 patch notes say "Players may now reverse engineer MANY ENDGAME items to research schematics for items and mods. Campaign and SOME Black Hole endgame items can be reverse engineered, and players have a chance to learn how to craft these items upon reverse engineering them." (emphasis added)

For synthweaving, there is also "Additional lower-level light armor schematics have been added." Note that this does NOT indicate they are orange schematics.

I think that pretty much sums it up. They said (probably hoped) to get more mod-able armor into the game, but fell short of that goal. I hope they answer what happened with those plans, either here or in the QA this week.

  3. Slicing mission crits will give a random green augment schematic. However, if you don't care about the Green recipe, you can get the Blue and Purple recipes by finding a friendly crafter who has already learned the Green recipe you want. Give them the materials to make a dozen or so and mail them to you, then you RE them to learn the Blue recipe.

Or just buy the green or blue Augments off the GTN and RE them

  4. Looks like each class has at least a couple (to cover the different level ranges, 10-20, 30-40 and 40-50)

This TORhead search will show all the mod'able orange belts:

From what I've read the belt and bracers are all random world drops.

Given the level spread, they should be available on each set of worlds.

Champions have the highest % chance to drop orange gear, so that would be the target of choice, but Elite, etc also have a smaller % chance.

  5. It sounds like the TD-17A gear, Colossus, Phalanx and Talon are random world drops.

Some of the items (usually chest, legs and boots) are available via quest series as well.

    TD-17A Colossus is level 40-50

    RD-17A Phalanx is 30-40

    TD-17A Talon is 10-30

Each set has a very different look:

So pick the one you like and start farming Champions at that level range

  6. I have another question in light of Patch 1.1.3.

What do you make out of this change:

Surge rating has been re-balanced. It now reaches diminishing returns the same way as other damage ratings, and its per point damage contribution has been reduced by approximately 10%.

If that's true, then it pushes power higher on the stat list.

After 1.1.3, I rebalanced some of my gear towards power, dumping Alacrity and Surge and I noticed a significant increase in my effectiveness as a healer. Yes, my crits were not as large as before (in part because of the 1.1.3 patch) but my healing seemed more predictable.

    Aim > Power > Crit > Surge > Alacrity

I got crit to 200, surge to 300, then I start working power into the mix.
