  1. Just did this world boss for the first time. It was pretty annoying because due to some people saying up on the stairs, the boss did reset a number of times, and usually when he was almost dead. So this did cost a lot of money and time and patience, but finally the boss is dead! Great!

    But wait.

No achievement for this? But there's an achievement for all kinds of useless nonsense, why not for this? Is this bugged? Is there really none?

Ah well, at least there's loot for everyone, right?

    RIGHT?

Guess what, there isn't. One guy gets one box of loot, and of course it's the guy responsible for the most resets. Everyone else gets.......... nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nada. Zilch. Nix.

    Good job, Bioware. Good job.

  2. well im pretty sure one of my irl buddy's got a 4 month ban for suspicious behaviour which they had not given evidence of what it was or anything he is also a founder and seems like abit of bs for the ban any of the support team or secruity team wanna actually say why he got the ban cause only reason i started playing this was cause he got me into it so yeah seems like bs that he got banned for no reason what so ever and i wanna continue playing this but i dont like much solo player games much anymore and i dislike making new friends cause i dont trust any of them

Let me help ya out here, my dude. For your exclusive use, here's a punctuation starter set. Feel free to use them liberally!

  3. Hey folks,

so a lot of us have been around a while and enjoy playing class stories and heroics, but the total lack of challenge in those is a bit of a downer.

    Don't fret though!

I have developed a system of what I call

    DYI Challenge Modes

that will help you get some challenge back into your solo gaming. It's basically a combination of a number of factors that all contribute to adding difficulty, and they can be combined.

I'm also introducing nomenclature to make specifying specific challenge modes easier and to be able to quickly compare difficulties between different toons.

    The factors are the following:

    • Limiting the contribution of your companion
    • Limiting the abilities of your class

Note: there are no achievements for this. There is no way to prove you did this. This is all for your own enjoyment, not really suitable for bragging rights :)

Limiting the contribution of your companion

Hardly anything makes your playthrough easier and more dull than having a companion that is set to heal you whenever you take damage. It makes every fight a total faceroll. You could just hit basic attacks all the time and still win every fight, it would just take longer.

I know, I've tried: I have two toons that are still on their base class (sith warrior and imperial agent) and no matter what I do, if I have a healing companion with me, I'll win.

So here's a list of things to do to make stuff harder:

A - Companion set to tank or damage role

In this mode, your companion will not heal you, but will still contribute to the fight. Depending on the enemies you are facing, this might just make the fight quicker (if you're both dps) or much harder (if there's an opponent dealing a lot of dmg and you're not a healer)

B - Companion set to passive

In this mode, your companion turns into a pet. However, you can still use some abilities that you couldn't use if your companio wasn't around: Unity and Heroic Moment. Those're a great help in a pinch!

C - No companion at all

In this mode, you're truely on your own. No heals, no unity, no heroic moment, no companion dance, nothing.

Limiting the abilities of your class

Since it's no longer possible to just pick a base class like Sith Warrior or Imperial Agent, we need a different way to make things harder. The easiest way to solve this dilemma is by taking away your mainhand weapon, which will automatically disable a lot of abilities.

How hard this makes your playthrough depends entirely on your class, as some classes can cope with this very well, while others will have a hard time doing even small amounts of damage without their mainhand weapon. For some classes, taking away the main hand weapon also means taking away the off hand:

A mercenary can't have only an offhand blaster, for instance. This adds extra penalties because your equipment rating will be even lower than with only the mainhand weapon taken away.

On the plus side, if you remove your main hand weapon, you can now use new abilities: The legacy abilities punch, jab, uppercut and bash which can be found under "Global Unlocks - Valor" and which only work without a mainhand weapon equipped.

Any help you can get from items or cool armor is fair game, too, in my opinion: medpacks, stims, adrenals, crafted grenades? Bring em on.

I've tried to come up with a list of classes and how I'd rate them in terms of difficulty, based on what abilities are left for unarmed combat. This list is nowhere near complete, and some items might not be placed entirely correctly, but you get the basic idea:

1 - Easy - most attacks and self heals work:

    • Sorc, everything works except
      • whirlwind
      • phase walk
      • static barrier
      • cloud mind
      • polarity shift
      • recklessness

2 - Medium - self heals and some attacks or no self heals but most attacks:

    • (Concealment) Operative:
      • Veiled Strike
      • Laceration
      • Volatile Substance
      • Crippling Slice
      • Sever Tendon
      • Debilitate
      • Fragmentation Grenade
      • Stealth
      • Stim Boost
      • Tactical Superiority
      • Distraction
      • Cloaking Screen

[*] (Arsenal) Mercenary, self heals/cure and these:

      • Tracer missile
      • Heatseeker missiles
      • Missile Blast
      • Explosive dart
      • Concussion missile
      • Electro dart
      • Stealth scan

      [*] (Advanced Prototype) Powertech:

      • Vent Heat
      • Carbonize
      • Shoulder cannon
      • Thermal detonator
      • Rocket Punch
      • Retractable Blade
      • Shatter Slug
      • Jet Charge
      • Flame Sweep
      • Stealth scan
      • Neural Dart
      • Sonic Missile
      • Grapple
      • Guard

3 - Medium hard - a few rays of light, otherwise pretty glum:

    • (Rage) Juggernaught:
      • Force push
      • Endure Pain
      • Disruption
      • Force Choke
      • Taunt
      • Threatening Scream
      • Assault

      [*] (Lethality) Operative:

      • Corrosive Grenade
      • Shiv
      • Lethal Strike
      • Fragmentation Grenade
      • Debilitate
      • Stealth
      • Stim Boost
      • Distration
      • Sever Tendon
      • Cloaking Screen

    4 - Hard - almost nothing works:

    • Sniper, nothing works except:
      • Fragmentation grenade
      • Distraction
      • Sniper volley (marksman)
      • Corrosion grenade (virulence)
      • Explosive probe (engineering)

[*] Sith Assassin, nothing works except:

      • Force Cloak
      • Overload
      • Saber strike (basically a punch)
      • Force speed
      • Electrocute
      • Jolt
      • Stealth
      • Force Slow

[*] (Fury) Marrauder, nothing works except:

      • Assault (punch)
      • Force Choke
      • Cloak of Pain
      • Disruption
      • Undying Rage
      • Frenzy (useless ofc)
      • Force crush

    Putting it all together

Now if you combine these two Factors, if you'd take your companion with you on passive mode and remove your main hand weapon playing an Arsenal Merc, you'd end up with Challenge Level B2.

I'm currently playing through on C3 - with a concealment operative and without any companion (I keep having to send it on long-time crafting missions or it'll just come back if I just dismiss it, but that's a seperate topic). some heroics are suddendly much more challenging:

if you're level 35 and have no healing whatsoever, Sav Darnell suddendly does a heck of a lot of damage!

Hope some of you enjoy these ideas for your next playthrough and get an extra kick out of bleeding a lot more, just like in the olden days when this game was at least somewhat challenging! :)

  4. You could set a companion to passive... so they stay but don't fight, defend or heal.

    As I wrote:

What's worse: even disabling it with CTRL-2 doesn't always stick.

I'm not sure why that is. Disabling them for a short while works flawlessly, but there are situations where the companion object seems to lose that flag and become active again. You can't even take away their stuff to make them ineffective anymore, because their gear doesn't matter anymore (which isn't in and of itself bad).

IF setting them to passive would work reliably, I wouldn't even complain but even though it "breaks" less than the dismiss button, it still does :(

  5. I really enjoy concealment operative without a weapon, but I've never tried without a companion too... that just sounds masochistic come later levels...

The difficulty without a companion is close to what it used to be before the companion revamp that came with KotFE (I think), so not at all problematic. There may be some heroic missions that are harder than before, but normal class and planetary quest lines are still way too easy :p

  6. Alright, so I'm trying to put some small challenge into my class quest /heroics play-through and I've opted to play without main hand weapon (no big deal as an operative, just no self-heals and stuff) and without companion. I'm doing pretty well, there's just one thing that bothers me to no end:

My stupid companion that I've dismissed keeps coming back.

What's worse: even disabling it with CTRL-2 doesn't always stick.

Please, for the sake of my sanity, please fix this :(

  7. Meant to, interesting word choice.

There's tons of heroics that are called "heroic 2+" and yet everyone and anyone can solo them - there's only one exception that I can think of that can't be solo'ed by all classes, and by those who can do it, only with a lot of skill (the Makeb library trap mission).

That aside there's two "Heroic 4" missions left that I can think of that are impossible to solo, the final missions of the seeker droid and macrobinocular quest lines. Or at least one is technically impossible due to the switches needing to be pressed, not 100% sure of the other one.

That aside, any quest called "heroic something" is solo'able, no matter if we're talking about daily areas or events - some even by design: The Aurora Cannon mission in Section X was changed specifically to allow one to complete it solo by removing all those switches and the need to drop the force field at the end by simultaneously powering those four nodes.

I think that's why there is now the expectation that you can solo all Heroic 4s. I personally did solo the ones on Dantooine so I know it is possible, and I don't consider myself a top player, but.... :w_embarrass:

  8. Indeed.

I did the event area on my main (a level 70 Sith Inquisitor) on Empire side. Here are the positives and the issues I came across on my first play through.

    Issues & Requests:

    The Heroics

Many of us gave feedback on the re-introduction of H4s with Ossus that we thought it was a bad idea. Not only have you ignored this, you've added two to the new event area. Whilst one of them is a pay-to-win many players will not want to pay full or contribute part to complete it that way (see below).

I actually don't mind as long as it's still possible to solo them, even if it's harder, as it is on Ossus. But then I have pretty good gear and a pretty strong legacy, so I can't speak for anyone else obviously.

I found the H2 harder or at least more annoying than the H4s, for exactly the reasons you mentioned (aegis shield, missile cooldown etc)

    H4 - Beware of Hugo

Attempted this solo - died three times on the mobs leading up to Hugo but I was able to res inside and continue (albeit the res was longer each time). The patrolling mobs inside were a problem for me as a Sith Inq because the two patrolling mobs if attacked or CCd will pull one of the other groups to attack you. Once you get passed those patrolling mobs and the four large groups, Hugo is relatively easy. I didn't notice any stealth detection so stealthers may be able to run past the groups straight to the boss.

I think I killed two mobs (the first two) and then there was only one patroller. I waited until he was far enough away and snuck along the left side wall to the gate, leaving the other two mobs alone.

    H4 - Reactor Ransome

Pay to win for soloers! If you are in-game loaded you can by an item that "converts credits to pay ransome". It costs 15 million credits which many people won't have. You use the item in the room with R0-B5u before clicking on the door item. On use the boss will run out and accept the ransome - quest done. The item says this can be used when in a group too. I did this because I can throw in-game credits at it. Can't comment on the fighting because I took the easy way out and will do so every time.

If you cheese the boss fight and just face tank him it's pretty easy. You can make it much harder on yourself if you try to LoS one of his attack which then hits the generator though.

    H2 - Shiny New Toy

    [...]

The fight is long and annoying but definitely doable with just you and your companion. I suggest some changes to the missile cooldown time to make this fight bearable.

    Fully agree here.

  9. World design, quests and H4s are all nice. I also enjoyed Polly.

    Buuuuut....

    • The H2, as others have mentioned and I have mentioned in a separate thread, is tedious. The Aegis thing needs a longer cooldown or it just sucks for solo'ing. It's not too hard, it's just very very annoying because it takes forever.
    • The decision that you need to do all of the quests twice for the weekly is exceedingly annoying. This is one of several reason almost nobody does the dailies on Iokath - The weekly would require you to go there two days in a row, and it just sucks. Please reconsider
    • As others have mentioned, reputation rewards need to include legacy bound weapons that look real cool, like the kingpin weapons for the nightlife event or the gree stuff or or or. That's what keeps us coming back and doing events again and again, because those legacy bound items (especially offhands) are just so valuable. Although the tree decos are absolutely gorgeous! :)

Also Dantooine doens't seem to have any enemy commanders at enemy bases, named or otherwise?

  10. Logged on to the PTS cause I was wondering about a few things on Dantooine. The round terminal I clicked on first

showed a fat guy asking for 15 mill..the last part of the short Vid .. cut out and didn't display I could still hear him … but no picture. I got the mission to place bombs on the Dam.. went there and went up the ladders still never saw where to click on bombs.. them logged off back on.. still no luck.. came back a few days didn't work them also.

Them tried a few heroics All of them I found were Heroic 4.. so I tried the one where you kill the guys in the houses. and them the droid.. Yea his AOE sponds way too fast. So I left. But all in all I think it going to be a great place when its finished.

Just finished this whole thing myself for the first time Hints:

    Dam:

You have to get near the marks on the map and click the symbol next to your mission in your mission tracker.

    The heroic you tried:

The walker does a deadly AoE you absolutely have to avoid. You must interrrupt its aegis protection thing then hit it with a rocket, then rinse and repeat all while keeping your companion and yourself out of the AoE. it's very tedious but doable. But tedious :D

For the other heroics the following tips for solo:

    hugo:

Try to skip two mobs in the big room, the one on the far left and far right. There's a guy wondering around that belongs to the far right group. Wait until he's far enough away then sneak along the wall to the right.

For Hugo himself, bring a very very strong companion.

    Generator guy:

The mobs are okay, no special tactics. For the lieutenant, be sure not to let his long cleave attack thing hit the generator or you're in big trouble. Its tempting to LoS that attack but... just don't

  11. I've recently leveled my Imperial Agent (no advanced class) to 70, not even that was hard - and I used only hand-to-hand skills and the basic grenade. Right now I have her on Ossus and it's still only slow, not difficult.

If there was a s toggle witch to make things a lot harder, and they gave achievements for that, I'd be all for that.

  12. Ok this may seem a little silly but...

I don't want my sith sorcerer to be holding a lightsaber they are never using for anything.

It seems silly, to say the least. We're throwing around lightning/stones, disease and healing blorbs, and we keep holding a lightsaber that does absolutely nothing. Why? Now, you can't do away with your mainhand weapon because for one, your stats would be much worse and also you can't use a whole number of abilities then, of which one is Recklessness, an ability you can hardly do without.

What I'd love to have: something to put into that slot that is either close to invisible or something not looking like a weapon. On my healer sorc I have that corsec batton but I still find it's a poor fit. It could be interpreted as a kind of scepter I guess but it still looks like a club.

So is there a precedent for force users doing without a weapon? Absolutely. The most obvious would be Palpatine, but there's also loads of force users without weapons throughout the Jedi Knight games, for instance.
