  1. But are heroics needed to level up? I dont think so. It's optional way to level up or entartain yourself. For everyone his own tune, some ppl likes just solo normal quests (and its better xp.min), from the other side if you are healer you will have short time in compleating group so more FP/HE for you. No need to change that.

Some better search tool would be nice of course.

  2. KotOR>SWTOR

KotOR has Pazaak and speeder racing. :-P

But seriously it is a very nice game. It has karma choices, the companions are kinda deep, it has nice story which is epic enought. The side quest are in variety and often are more than just kill'em all. Also it is very well conducted game, i like how everything there is connected, and locations are just big enought to not get bored.

  3. But how exacly this the deflagging works? I never really figured it out, although it seems to fade off after a while.

    The problem:

Sometimes i get flaged from no idea the reason, maybe i misclicked someone, or was i group and owner decided its pvp time... no idea. And it will not go away. So other faction is invited, but i never has intencion to pvp outside sctructured. Misclicks happens. And i do not value my time low enought to wait in safe zone.

Personally do not find much fun in being ganked by +10 levels, but thats maybe just me, probably other side feels challenged one way or the other.

Solution: It would really help if deflagging was somehow easier. And if you got flag, but was peacefully pve for a couple mins you can deflag anywhere, so it will not alter normal game session.

  4.

    1) Any non-tank who takes direct damage (not AoE) suffers a 50% movement penalty and cannot attack for 3 seconds. This would seriously reduce the fun of dps because pulling any mob would see them suffer for it.

It would also cause them to resent tanks even more, but wouldn't actually get them to go tank.

    2) All mobs in a flashpoint cannot be attacked except once attacked by a tank. They can still shoot players who then get a 6 second period before the mob is activated (to prevent tanks dropping mid pull or stealthing just to kill dps).

It is so bad it hurts eyes. You are not making playing tank more fun, but only sinking some fun from dps-> less players will play at all.

Sometimes there is a transh in FP (maybe just the easier one) which just dont need to be tanked, and dps can take it. Or there is so many trashy minions that the fastest way to deal with it is to everyone fire his aoe. And auto heal after encounter or have healer fire some heal.

The most important problem with playing tank/healer is that its harder to level up, since dps minions are not very good at dps. And a lot of leveling are easy encounters, so its just slower.

What should be done is: allow some faster respecing from dps setup to tank setup, aka dual specing. So players could do story quests as dps, and switch to party mode when in fp. This is the propore way to make game more interesting for everyone.

  5. It may be suprising, but then... actually not at all. Since some positions with a good score have also a good reason to not be worked:

Class Story - it only matters if done right and awesome. And often means better than so far! You mean karma choices, and decisions which matters over time. Or no linear aproach to challenges. I hardly imagine respectful content in less than 10 levels. It is something which distingueshe SWTOR most from other MMO but also calls for a lot of work.

PvP content - some ppl are just not interested in pvp, prefer pve in form of alts or operations/flashpoints. Even fan of pvp could have complains to balance, or premade vs pug scene.

New Class - questionable if there is a gap left to fill. And whats the point in leveling another toon in lacking content?

Minigames - it dosnt make my char stronger. Is independent to build and gear.

Planets - yay another planet... which looks like others, and have some generic plot. Yay.

  6. Forum users, and poll participans are very small % of total player base. A single click on one option is very small bit of informaction. Poll could be formed in manipulative way, or missing important data, or alternatives. What is value on forum that post are often indeep, and feedback is with explanation. Votes do not carry explanation. Some ppl may skip explanation once voted, since they think its done. More ppl will feel urge to argue about poll result rather than problem itself. So yeah, i see the point in not polling.
  7. sure i have, why not. There is no reason to not get some the 1st time you visit your fleet.

However... there is a whole other story if its worth to get craft skills while leveling.

Crafting is a huge credit/time sink. And it is hard to level it right with just ship droid (you may need your 1st companion for leveling). How i do it: when leveling i invest only in collecting skills. And pick stuff from the world. Once i reach lv 40 switch to some crafting setup, and level it fast using my storage of supplies. It is always good to pick hacking as collect skill (no harm at least). Extra cash here and there, why not.

You do not need crafting while leveling, since there is enought good stuff from flashpoints and story rewards. Or from comendacions.

When leveling second character may send from 1st some extra equipment in advance.

  8. Yes please. Im lazzy and pround. Since avoiding unnesesery work is sign of inteligence.

Clicking some points (which we already did a couple of times before) is not playing.

And everything which is not playing should be reduced in time needed, so ppl can play for real more.

Some players have very demanding shedue, so they dont have 2-5 min to switch points and gear.

From company point of view all that matters is so players will pay sub. And spec sets are helping, since more players with limited time will be interested in investing in SWTOR.

I see big value in being able to switch from dps to healer (or otherwise) very fast. Even on toons which could go both ways i would rather spend this 5 minutes doing another quest than toying with specs.

  9. I dont get it. Maybe im playing it all wrong. I play Lighting Sorcerer and Marksman, in both use dps companions (either Kaylo or Vecotr, Ashara or Andronikius) mostly couse i used to this companions. And it dosnt matter. Im doing just fine my stuff, my char is like 2 levels above my story (sometimes less). The only complication is that sometimes i need to heal after fight which slows but not much. And some encounters are a little harder to degree that need check the equipment of companion or take a stim.

Maybe im playing it wrong, and official most efficient way is to levels under mission, or soloing heroics.

From the other side healer makes it more smooth in the way that i do not need to stop for autohealing. But its far from "dps companions are useless".

  10. It is not on my priority list but would be nice. Lets admit it, there are scumbags everywhere. And it is very likly and annoying that if you are clearing a trash near nod, someone will jump to steal it. The same goes to objectives. Waiting 30sec is not fun. And if player is forced to it, thats design decision and players will react (some will drop game since boring and slow).

Sure we can argue that it will be enought if ppl was fair and polite, but its easier to get good code than good ppl.

  11.

The biggest problem I see to this is that it would discourage leveling alts. Due to Legacy and now with real money sinks to boost alt leveling speed with the Cartel Market, you will never see this. BW is not going to want it to be easy for someone to switch between Tank and Heal spec. They are already giving in from the norm of most MMO's to allow one to go from Tanking or Healing to DPS. Being that Healing and Tanking are usually the least popular choices in an MMO in comparison to DPS, they want to encourage leveling alts to keep real money sinks active.

I would worry not about it.

How many alts one should have?

I assume is pointless to force anyone to have more than 8. Since this allow to experience all class stories.

And the class stories should be cool enought, to actually make people want to run them.

Which may not always true (like class story isnt particulary interesting, and gameplay itself is dull) but this is something to work on, the real problem.

Also if you havent noticed we have it already, one can roll a sorcerer and level up as lighting dps, and reskill at 50 into coruption healer.

Not to mention, that if someone leveled up a dps, there is a big chance he likes dpsing around. Of course it could be nice to have healer or tank for guild duty, but even if swaped, it would be nice to have capped dps for pure fun of it.

So allowing adv ac swap do not hit altoholiscm at all.

  12. To be honest i dont see a point in new class.

What could be nice feature is to increase a little a customizacion of builds.

If two different persons decide to make "lighting sorcerer" there will end up with almost identical builds and skillset.

No way to add some personal spark.

It would be cool if expansion or future patches add ability out of list, something which player consider fun/useful/important for his gamestyle. Like if your juggy really need lighting strike then why not. If the vanguard wish to place a shiv at theend of rifle and charge to enemy throwing them in the air let him choose stuff like that....

Of course it will still leave the problem that gameplay is so wowish. And there is no aiming, no active dodging nor blocking, and most abilities are aimboted not directional, and rarely influence each other and surrounding.

(Yeah i was really expecting Jedi Knight MMO rather than WoW in Spaaaace)

  13. Why in general its a good rule of thumb to fight for what you believe.

Its also good to pick your fight wisly, and dont fight for lost couse.

Not to mention, its good to take a break and think if its important.

For example: saving rainforest is probably worth fighting.

But "nerfing smash monkeys" not really.

1st nobody cares, and its just video game, its not even good video game. Devs dont really care what community wants, and if only, they are looking at masses not a few.

  14. Yes, please let me swap from mercenary to power tech, she's getting very dusty sitting in the corner.

Or... just make mercenary not suck, that would work too.

    That would be cool to.

    But why not both?

Class balance is a good thing and for sure worth working on.

However i dont think adv class swap excludes with class balance.

Bio for sure have enought manpower to do both.

And the whole swap thing is not so complicated.

Its for sure some work but in comparison to balance its quite easy since its already known what you need to do, while in balance you 1st need to learn what exacly need to be done.

  15. I have a similar feeling as OP. It was time when i enjoyed SWTOR - mostly my 1st run with sith inqusitor, but after a while it shows up that MMOs are just not for me, and i got bored without will to carry on. Happens, no big deal.

The good thing is that there is a pleanty of other games to enjoy. So far im chilling out with DAO, i hope to get Wargame, UFO, Chilvary and Dishonored some time soon.

The good thing about games is that everyone can enjoy favorite tittle without bashing others who like others.

  16. Well, its complex.

From one side i simply do not trust Bioware with SWTOR that it anytime be made into valuable game.

Also i do not believe that Bioware care anything about even the most valuable feedback. You can list your wish about companions, but it will change nothing. Nobody at Bioware cares.

If you want fun with companions just go play ME2, or any other old bioware game.

    As for my feedback:

+ Good companions are, since they help to grind the xp in solo pve. Most of the time companions play good enought, but it maybe due to how brainsless solo pve is.

+ Good companions can craft, in others MMO i encounter crafting was another big time sink. Crafting companions make it a little better.

    - Its big shame that once we unlock the companion and its hanging around our ship, we cant just go and talk with it. In ME2 it was great way to learn something about companion past or attitude, and universe lore. In SWTOR our companions are bunch of introverts. Even droids.

    - The companion missions are generally dull and boring. Kinda like rest of the game.

Bioware take a long step back from loyality missions in ME2. Even in comparison to JoeBindo from Kotor they are poor.

    - Companions could talk a little more in play. LIke comment our decisions and stuff.

    - The relation between hero and companion could be made a little more complex.

There could be much more important dialogues and they could be better writen.

Option to twist and alter companion would be nice

For example from Ashara and Sith Inqusitor i would expect some lines like Kreia and Exile. But no chance for that.

  17. I think a greater problem is not the equipment but the experience gained in learning exactly how their class works. Tanks for example. Maybe you played a tank in another game or with another class but that doesn't mean you'll automatically know how to play another tank class well.

As I see it that's part of the whole level 1-50 experience: the player learning exactly what all the nuances are to their class. Can anyone be really sure that switching to their class's tank AC at level 50 that they'll know all the nuances of the AC so they can handle just about any situation thrown at them? Or will they cause a few wipes the first few times they try tanking because they lacked familiarity with that specific AC and what skill tree set up they find most effective to their play style?

So how much helpful to understand how to play adv class at lv 50 is having play it from 1 to 20 when you have no full skill tree nor all adv class abilities.

While i agree that gradually learning skills helps i dont think its the only way possible.

Its probably not much harder than comming back from break. And people do it.

Sure the 1st couple of matches may be disaster, but then player will take the time to read destription, make some resonable binding, maybe visit some end game planet to try it in some heroics or just random kills. It will not take long before he get it.

  18. , if uninspired WoW-clone gameplay, you could have something really special.

Yeah inspiring WoW really holds the game back.

I sometimes imagine how cool it could be if the gameplay was more like Jedi Outcast for saber classes and ME for gunners. And it hurts. Like Planetside + Chilvary with lighsabers and flamethrowers.

    So much wasted potencial.

  19. Changing whole class could be a little too much, since that will alter character story as well.

However being able to change advanced class for this 1 mil creds or 500 cp seems resonable.

After all, we already can change from Lighting Sorc to Coruption sorc which changes our role.

Being able to swap from madness Assasin to Madness sorc is just one step futher.

  20. You absolutely are dismissing not only other players point of view, but also the devs, with your belief that AC's are not different classes. I cannot find the quote, but even the devs have said that AC's are different classes.

One more thing to consider or just stop pretending its already here is a skill tree respec.

    I can totally imagine:

Leveling as LIghting sorcerer and respec into coruption one.

Leveling as Pyrotech Powertech and respec into shielding.

In each example chaniging a tree changed totally our role. Also the 1st choice makes generally leveling easier (as dps) while the second may be more desired in team play.

Anyone is willing to argue a little against tree respec since it supports fotm and stuff?

  21.

The bottom line, advanced class switching cheapens the decision you make at level 10 and allows people to roll the flavor of the month class and do whatever they want. I honestly hope that advanced class switching never makes it into the game. If that interview is legit, the one where they say that it is only a matter of time until AC switching gets put in, then this game is going to hit an iceberg. (If one was not hit already.)

The question is how well thoughn can be decission made at level 10.

In theory it could be, especially if player have really a lot of free time, and can reasearch forums, or watch yt gameplays.

From the other side at this level game still can be fast experience, when player can just jump in, and catch everything on the fly, and possible mistakes while possible will not hurt forever. And pre 10 gameplay dont really give a background to make rational decision at level 10, also trainer info is limited.

Not to mention that gameplay at level 10 is quite different than at 20/30/40/50. And decision made with just lv 10 knowledge cant really be rational.

Also i dont get this hate to players switching to fotm spec. In fact adv cl swap could even help, since that would made fotm more visible, and it will be harder to pretend that problem dont exists since we still have commandos running around.

For me the real solution is just making all classes balanced at level 50.

But im not suprised that some believe that just prohibiting advanced class swap fix anything.

  22. I play swtor mostly since im Star Wars freak and have strong estime to Kotor as well as others Bioware games.

The sad thing is that SWTOR is nothing like old BioWare crpg, and in many ways its worse.

I wish Bio had just done Kotor III or something like that, some real game.

Its probably matter of time when i got finally bored and just move on to other games.

  23. I suppose the problem is that despite annoncments, advertising and general hype the SWTOR is still:

"Just another kinda avarage WoW clone in space."

Which brings disappointment in three waves:

Wave I are players who never have intencion to play a WoW or other timesinks grindfest, and are expecting from studio which made ME2, DOA, or Kotor a quality gaming experience.

Wave II are players who want new, better WoW with lighsabers and space combat. But they are stuck down by general avaregeness of SWTOR.

Wave III are a players who will really play anything without major bugs or inbalance issues. But even in that SWTOR fails.

So no matter how low you set yout expectacions you will soon get disappinted and bored with SWTOR.
