  1. When 4.0 hits companions have been reworked. They will be able to do every role (DPS, Heal and Tank) and during KotFE it will be possible to abandon them but you can still use them outside the story.

If this is possible, would it also be possible to do the same in the original story (lvl 1 to 50), to kill companions again like it apparently was in beta.

Back then there were some problems with crew skills or people killing a companion they needed (in terms of roles).

But with the new 4.0 system, those problems are solved.

So is this possible or is every companion already written into the KotFE story?

  2. ...

Of course the famous parsec mention is Han Solo bragging about doing the Kessle Run, where from the context it seems like he's trying to use it as a unit of time rather than a unit of distance. If George Lucas and the folks at Lucasfilm are good at physics, they're clearly going to great lengths to disguise it.

    ...

There is an explanation that makes some sense on that matter.

If you can cut a few "corners" in the route of the Kessel Run, you should be able to do it in less parsecs than the official charted run.

  3. If I remember correctly, previous planets are untouched and you can still visit them like they were before KotFE.

But remember, there won't be any 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 questing on those planets any more either once you started KotFE.

It may seem like some sort of time-travel but because you won't need to be there it doesn't matter. Like if you were going to Alderaan after Correlia and met some forces from Boris Ulgo trying defend their king. no matter how much they are defeated, they always come back and patrol the same area.

If you are an RPer then your in bad luck. You will need to find immersion on the new planets.

  4. I haven't done everything on the following list as I am mostly a solo-player but these are the major storylines that have an "impact" on what happens later on.

This is everything concerning Malgus, Makeb, the Dread Masters, Revan and the Emperor

    Pre 50:

Flashpoints: Taral V / Maelstorm Prison / Boarding Party / The Foundry

    Jedi Knight quest: Chapter 2 & 3

    50:

    Planet: Ilum

Flashpoints: Battle of Ilum / False Emperor

    Weekly: Section X

    Operation: Explosive Conflict

    Planet: Makeb

    55:

Operation: Terror From Beyond / Scum and Villainy

    Planet: Oricon

Operation: The Dread Fortress / The Dread Palace

Flashpoints: Forged Alliances I, II & III

Planet: Rishi (including either 2 solo flashpoints or 2 group flashpoints)

    Planet: Yavin 4

    60:

Operation: Either a few quest on Yavin 4 and an operation boss solo or a group operation Temple of Sacrifice

    Planet: Ziost

Now someone else can give you an estimated time on this list.

If someone wants to add to this list, please do.

I don't know if The Ravagers operation on Rishi has any story to it but if so, it should be in there as well.

  5. ... given them [the Empire] clearance to use superweapons on the Republic...

When did the Empire think: "We shouldn't use superweapons on the Republic, it just wouldn't be right."

They never shied away from total annihilation-campaigns.

It would however, seeing as the "Cold War" was still going on, give the Empire more incitement to rekindle the war.

  6. I recently played an agent, because there is almost an unanimously consensus that it is the best, and I tried to make "smart" decisions with some revenge options with the goal in mind to be free... it was quite unsatisfying.

Chapter 1: I followed Jadus, he learns secrets and disappears. As the hand of Jadus, you take orders from the same persons as before and life goes on with no difference what so ever.

( I did this to get rid of a very incompetent darth named Zhorrid. Which seemed smarter.)

Chapter 2: You are brainwashed by the empire and used by the republic. You can kill the republic person that seemed to be in charge and give those responsible in the empire a stern warning for literally brainwashing you without your consent..

Chapter 3: You get a chance to remove yourself from existence and be free for once. Everybody knows who you are.

(I get this gamewise, otherwise you won't get quests any more)

    Chapter 4: No real complaints.

Chapter 5: Despite choosing to be a "ghost". You are forced to be a member of the Sith Intelligence Club, something you loathed from the very start.

The build up to the Chapter ends are interesting but it always fail to deliver.

So, did I miss something or did I make a few bad decisions to get the whole "Agent is the best story"-vibe?

  7. No, because generals don't usually run around with only one other person as backup and do suicidal black-OPS missions. Generals in the Republic do what Garza does. Sending out teams to pull of heroic actions and also directing large scale battles from the safety of command headquarters.

So promoting the trooper to a general would indeed be a stupid move since s/he has shown tremendous capabilities in blowing up stuff and killing hostile forces. So why give him a whole other job than what s/he can do best?

honestly for what we're doing on our troopers the rank of Major is already silly high. anyone with any military experiance sickers at the idea of a major leading a squad

Don't forget that Jedi could become generals in times of war. And they still lead squads on the field or suicidal black ops. So why can't a trooper be a general who still fight in the field.

Jedi generals served in the Mandolarian wars, in beta a DS JK would get that title and of course during the clone wars.

  8. With a Rishi-daily and two Yavin 4-weeklies you can get your companions in 192 legacygear.

Every currently existing companion is able to wear at least one of these sets.

Now with KotFE we will have new companions and some uncertainty about current ones.

Will the 192 legacy sets have a use in KotFE, and if so will the new companions be added to the list of requirement?

(Regardless of whether you like the 192 legacy sets or not)

  9. The AI in the Directive 7 FP was experimental and the droids on Dromund Kaas were hacked, both being presumably rare instances.

There are a lot of cases where droids are hacked, are getting hacked by the player.

Experimental droids are build all the time, I hardly believe Directive 7 was an once in a lifetime exception.

In my opinion, the reason they use slaves has something to do with the idea of having power.

Anyone with a bit of programming or slicing skills can control a droid.

But the fact that you can order someone to do a task gives you more the feeling of power than the fact that you can order a droid, that is programmed to obey you, to do the same task.

Then seeing as the Empire is based on such a caste-system, the concept of slavery would give the higher castes more the feeling of power.

  10. In my opinion it can be presumed that the followers and servants were not force-sensitive, and thus shouldn't count for the purposes of this discussion.

Perhaps they were, perhaps they weren't.

But their purpose in this discussion is that there were enough people to have Kallig or Hord to be descended from them instead of the 12 lords.

Which could provide the possibility for Kallig to be Alien and for Hord or his ancestors not mentioned at the arrival.

EDIT: I know it's off-topic from OPs question but it discusses an additional question that was asked.
