That’s always been the problem. Bioware are fighting a losing battle because they don’t just ban hammer the account out of existence the first time they get caught.
Bioware are all about trying to “change player behaviour” with slaps on the wrist and it doesn’t work. Every other game I know just locks the account permanently and that’s it.
Of course cheats can just create another account, but they still need to pay for a sub again, so that’s $15 down the drain if they cheat again. I would assume they would get the message not to cheat after they’ve wasted a few $100.
If not, Bioware can keep getting money off them and banning them each time. It’s a win-win for us and Bioware, when you consider the creators of the cheats are maybe one or two people. So it would make zero dent in Bioware’s revenue to ban them permanently. Especially when Bioware are more than happy to lose multiple subs from moving servers or making bad choices in development when people tell them and they don’t change course. Which leads to mass unsubbing.
The old argument people have made is Bioware don’t want to lose subs from banning people when they cheat. That would mean they actually care about losing subs in the game. It would also mean that there are more than a small amount of people getting caught cheating. Which is the opposite perception on this forum. Apparently, according to most threads and posts you see on hacking, there is either no cheating or it’s so rare that nobody sees it.
So why would Bioware care about locking down the cheating and banning those tiny amount of people that get caught? It makes zero sense to not ban the hackers if there are so few.
If they also banned the IPs, email addresses and credit cards, that would add another hurdle to resubbing. Even though they can use a VPN to get around the IP ban, even the VPN IPs will eventually be banned too and they would need another VPN.
After awhile, the effort to maintain this sort of behaviour just to hack troll would become too much effort for the casual hacker.
What Bioware really don’t get is they are never going to “change” the player behaviour of those sorts of people. The only recourse is to have some policy that makes it clear from the start that cheaters won’t be tolerated and the harshest pentality will be applied with no warnings if they cheat.
The other problem is once these original cheaters find a way to break the system, they spread that information to anyone who wants to “pay” for it. So Bioware are financially supporting these cheaters and they can keep making accounts because it really doesn’t cost them anything. They probably still come out ontop.
Once the way to cheat starts to be used more and more, the casual cheaters will start because they know nothing will happen to them if they are caught. All that does is encourage more people to cheat and so on.
Until Bioware changed their perspective, this will continue to happen. At this stage, only the toughest penalties will deter the casual cheaters and make it harder for the hack trolls to continue,
Bioware can’t ban anyone coz if they start banning there would be no one left to play the game. We have low population as is.

Just be glade we are still getting new gameplay stuff for this game and not just cartel market junk.

Yah, sure why not? Friendly fire for pvp. While we are at it, we should add friendly fire to the fleet too.... lol

Dang you guys make me want to go back and play it again for nostalgia
Yah, 2.xxx and 3.xxx eras were the best times for this game.

I agree. That's why Darth Marr should ghost rule. Vitiate effectively did it for centuries, after all. Bring back Darth Marr!
Marr is a cool guy and my Sith Inquisitor would not mind having Marr back to lead the Empire. However, secretly what my Sith Inquisitor really wanted to do was Force walk Darth Marr’s Ghost....

I think since the other servers are working, there's just as much chance the server status page isn't updating properly as much as Harbinger being broken. I've got my flashpoints filtered down to two and I got an instant pop for a flashpoint that usually takes a few minutes to become available. When mail went buggy, I logged out and thus now waiting in a queue.
I highly doubt that this game is that popular at the moment. More likely just incompetent devs broke something again.
P.S. I am having problem logging in too.

I think Sages should get Force Implode the Moon, which instantly disconnects its target from the server. Hits up to 8 people.
I am pretty sure a non-class specific version of this ability already exists in ranked pvp...

everything you could ever want to know
Lies, it doesn't have an answer to the meaning of life.

Sure, why not? However, I am not sure if the potato bioware used to run this game on is powerful enough to make these suggestions a reality.

Speciality is mainly British English. not commonly used in the rest of the world.
Wait, are you saying that they don't speak American in Britain??? This is mind-blowing information... my worldview has been turned upside-down.

Slow downloading speed is probably a bitraider problem.

I think that he just said something vague.
Not sure how can you "bug" it unintentionally cuz no-leap areas clearly have borders!
Never ever underestimate this current bioware dev team's ability to break in-game stuff.

Lol at all the merc players coming to defend they favourite class from getting the nerf hammer. Chill out, bioware doesn't read the pvp forum.

I have heard that with this game jumping forces the server to update your position, so jumping in pvp can actually help you opponent as your position is being updated and relayed to your opponent more quickly.

The Harbinger is all you need to know.

If the fate of swtor was in my hand, I would give the licence to develop Star Wars games to CD Projekt RED and not ea.

This is one of those rare occasions that an idea posted on the forum actually showed some merit.

Ah, the nut roaster..

A large number of posts in this thread consisted of nothing but typical dps mentality - nothing should survive when my awesome level over 9000 dps character stares at it.

i think Darvannis would make for a good "death match" style map. Im not fond of the format but it is something we dont have in this game and since most people play everything like its death match it would be a good potential addition.
Good LoS potential, good closed quarters, would be a fascinating addition.
We already have that, it is called Huttball.

The female toon with the most ****y outfit gets my vote.
Why the **** is the word **** being censored?

I doubt it and I doubt they even like Star Wars. To them, Star Wars is probably just a job that pays extremely well.

the rolling stones taught us how to handle a situation like this!
When you are doing solo ranked and they get toxic, dance little sister, dance!
That's right!
Put them all on ignore, and type /getdown
and just dance till the acid rain comes.
They will learn a valuable lesson. If they don't learn, keep doing it!
lolololololol

But....but....it's an entire team dedicated to peweepee, they said so! Some of the most experienced PvP devs in the whole wide world! =(
They've also said our choices in the story matter, and customer satisfaction is their top priority.
