  1. I actually run with a Carnage Marauder in group ranked, Lacirtcele, he runs the low end of Alacrity's GCD which is: 430+

He mentions: 1 248 enhancement and 2 augments to reach this amount (when min/maxing)

    I see, thanks.

  2. means you can finish off someone quite fast because your execution of abilities will be faster.

Point here is that... unless you don't try it out for yourself there is no point talking about it. I've played lots of combos and the high alacrity one is the best for me, but maybe not for you so...

There is a point in talking about it though, I made this post to hear other peoples opinions and learn some of the math behind it. So that I could eventually formulate my own opinion on it. I don't have the comms (or w/e they are called), nor the credits for it to be reasonable for me to try both low and high alacrity setups. And I didn't mean any disrespect, I just couldn't see why you needed to mention that you can top dps or w/e. You coulda just said that it was your opinion. Either way I am not looking to debate, I am looking for advice (there is already enough debating going on in this thread anyway).

  3. @WayOfTheWarriorx Now I didn't actually read your entire post, it's a bit long. But I think the TL;DR is to have a more modest alacrity (~703)? With the Mara passives exactly how much lower than that can I go? Personally I always preferred lower alacrity anyway, as the spec already have me doing enough rapid button mashing.

@DavidAtkinson Top 3 dps isn't really that impressive, even with no alacrity I can do that most of the time (if I am trying to do dps). I appreciate the advice, but I am not sure what point you're trying to make by saying you can top 3 dps.

  4. 713 or 1866 Alacrity, I advise the higher number because otherwise the only other stat you can invest in with new augments is crit. And above 2000 crit with less less than 1866 alacrity is... not smart. To put it mildly.

Aight, I might just do that, thanks for the advice.

  5. I am not particularly worried about the current stage of how good/bad a sin is, that is why I am also planning on maining a marauder. I play mostly regs and the occasional solo ranked (as I don't currently have a guild, group ranked is out of the question anyhow). But based on what you're saying I think I am gonna stick with 703 alacrity with my sin then, thanks again.
  6. I see. Thanks for the advice, so 1860 for my marauder. But what about my deception sin? I have never worried about alacrity on my sin before preferring the higher burst over slightly faster gcd's. But then again I haven't played in a while.
  7. Right so I just came back to this game after a long break, and I heard that alacrity has gotten alot better though I don't know to what extent. So currently I am maining a deception sin (High Power+Crit+5% Accu) and my old Carnage Marauder I am looking to get geared soon. Only problem is, after having a break for so long I have no idea what my stat priorities should be. So exactly how much alacrity would you suggest for those 2 characters?
  8. Gear gap and changes to bolster without fixing the gear grind at the same time has finally reached my crap threshold with swtor Devs.

The changes now make pvp more about gear vs gear instead of skill vs skill. For me that just isn't fun.

I hate stomping newbies, but with them being under geared and Bolster nerfed. it will be a joke.

I also hate this gearing system, but I stuck around because Bolster seemed to negate that a bit and the gap wasn't as big as it is now, but the nerf, which was a ninja nerf, I've reached my limit with the lies and sneaky tactics these guys use.

I have only just come back to the game myself (about 1 week ago), but which lies are you referring to? I don't seem to recall that BioWare has at any point even made more than a few vague references to pvp, none of which can classify as a lie.

To me pvp seems much as I left it, just with less and less need for actual pvp gear. I can really only see that as a good thing, with the removal of pvp gear having pve players on your team is at least not a death sentence. I still remember back in the older days when everyone was running around in there fully aug'd and min max'd War Hero gear and was ganking recruit geared players in full premades, now that was a hell alot of fun wasn't it? BioWare is finally making changes to the horrible gearing system we'd to cope with for so long and now everyone wants to leave? Am I missing something? Or maybe every elitist pvp player is just mad that they can't 3 shot people anymore, and that the pvp community isn't almost exclusive to those who can spend 5 hours a day every time new gear rolls out.

Look I realize the new gearing system is still horrible, but at least I feel like it's a move in the right direction. Feel free to correct me if I said something wrong, I did just return myself after all.

  9. The fact that so little improvement has been made is what the real issue is. The game was released back in 2012 which is now 4-5 years ago, you'd think in all that time that they would make vast improvements to it. Fixing the gearing system is as simple as tweaking the amount of comms you get out of each warzone, it's not exactly rocket science. They could start by doubling the amount of unassembled (or w/e they call the comms now) you get, and then tweaking it until the majority is satisfied (some people will always complain).

The old gearing system was terrible, it favored certain people far too much and was extremely dissuasive for new players. The complaints most people make in regards to the current gearing system is well founded. However with all that said I do believe there is potential in the new gearing system.

  10. Killing a good healer will often require good DPS, bad DPS is easy to predict. 2 good dps are gonna have a hard time killing 1 good healer, it'll often require 3. While it's nearly impossible to outheal 2 good dps raw dps (at least 4k-5k), it's incredibly easy to stun lock them with the arsenal of stuns this game has. DPS aren't the only ones who got stuns, killing a healer isn't as simple as just stunning him. Of course if you can manage to stun the healer at the right time and he doesn't have a breaker you may be able to kill him within the 6 seconds window. However this will require you to get lucky with the crits and hope that the guy doesn't have any HOTS on him. 3 good dps can kill most non-guarded healers (it'll take a lot of time to kill a sorc healer). 3 good dps can potentially also kill a guarded healer if they time their interrupts right and also don't fall for interrupt bait (casting an ability and then instantly cancelling it). Killing a good healer with a good tank is however a whole different story, especially with a sin tank (overload root bind frontal aoe).
  11. Why does there need to be a hundred threads about this? I get it, it's disappointing. So just stop playing ranked. Every time I login and see peoples begging for ranked q's I just face palm, it's pointless and imo always have been. If you need to try and bribe peoples to play something, you need to take a couple of steps back and figure out where you went wrong. Playing PVP shouldn't be about rewards in the first place, it should be able to stand on its own without trying to force peoples to play it. Rewards are only gonna attract bad players, exploiters, and cheaters.
  12. There is a reason there is a rule against name & shame. Name & shame would only serve to make the community more toxic and hateful, look at most fps games. There is one very simple thing the game needs in order to get rid of 90% of all cheats: place killzones in area's that are not meant to be accessible. Lag switching can be circumvented by timing out peoples with too unstable internet connections.
  13. It's extremely easy to target peoples in arena's just by clicking their name is the arena scoreboard. I never use my mouse for anything besides camera panning and targeting in arena's anyway.

As a response to @LadyDarkkitten, as you can see I already said that I use my mouse for camera panning, which is rotating the camera with my mouse. Of course I am not rotating with the keyboard.

  14. Let's take out Target Group Member hot keys, *****it I'll click those frames. I agree, man I think I may even start clicking a couple more abilities, it doesn't take long, my monitor is small shooot, ain't a thing.

This SVTCarnage punk trying to come up in here and suggest something that would take the developers 15min to put in.

Please don't give me any of "I may even start clicking a couple more abilities" bs, since the amount of time it takes to do a rotation with the mouse and the time it takes to target a person is not even worthy of a comparison. Either way I have said my piece and given my own opinion, I don't intend on having a debate over a feature that is not even present yet. Perhaps if you played more FPS games the meaning of resolution sizes and monitor sizes wouldn't be lost on you.

Also just for the record, I have never ever even a single time used the target group members binds. Whether they are removed or not, I don't care. But taking out a feature is always a mistake, the removal of 8v8 ranked proves this.

  15. Ok your wrong, I mean it's a opinion, that is yours. Right clicking to pan/turn isn't what most would consider clicking. If your not using right click your keyboard turning and that is bad.

What you said would really back fire on you on arena junkies. It's your opinion though and what I am proposing be added is really simple, it's a preference.

Please don't tell people they are wrong and then don't give a reason. If you seriously think that moving your mouse 3 inches and clicking is alot slower than hitting a button I am afraid you're the one who's wrong. Maybe if you've the scoreboard in the top on a huge 2k monitor it's gonna make a difference, but I don't see why you'd do that. Perhaps it's that I play on a small monitor and a small resolution that makes me see things this way, but whether I have a button assigned to target someone or have to move the mouse a couple of inches, it makes no difference.

Right clicking is still clicking, might be taking things out of context, but the literal meaning is the same. A clicker is a term used to define peoples who nearly exclusively uses the mouse to click on abilities, not peoples who may use it for convenience. Calling peoples a clicker because they use the mouse for targeting is just stupid.

I don't mean to come of as rude or anything, and you're right, it's just my opinion. And it may or may not be more advantageous for you, than it's for me. Since I always play on lower resolutions to get more frames and to confine things to a smaller space, I could imagine that's why we're disagreeing.

As far as WoW goes, I don't really care since I absolutely cannot play the game for more than a couple of hours before falling asleep, having a bot, I mean a macro do everything for me is extremely boring imo. I for one am really glad this isn't WoW and that SWTOR doesn't do things like WoW does. At the end of the day, whether this feature is or isn't added, I don't really care I guess. And if alot of other peoples thinks like you do, I am sure it'll be added sooner or later.

  16. It's extremely easy to target peoples in arena's just by clicking their name is the arena scoreboard. I never use my mouse for anything besides camera panning and targeting in arena's anyway. The only person I see who'd have an issue with this is peoples who use their mouse for ability clicking aka "clicker's". This option would barely even give you the slightest of advantages, and to me is entirely pointless. The amount of time and effort it takes to quickly move your mouse to the name of the player and then click, is about the same time it would take to move your finger over the button.

I don't imagine that inventing this feature would be very difficult. Also if clicking anything makes you a clicker, everyone is clickers, because right clicking to pan the camera is also clicking.

Based on everything I just said, the only ones who'd actually get any advantage from this is clickers, because it's far more troublesome for them to move their mouse over to the scoreboard than it's for a binder.

  17. There is no ranked gear, but there is "Advanced Gear". Advanced Gear is what you should be using in ranked arena's, it is in the same place (combat training) as the basic pvp gear.
  18. Force Master armor set.

I'd advice you to create an alt and farm up 25000 total commendations, since this is the amount required to get full advanced gear + custom mods. Otherwise you're still gonna struggle. As far as mod goes I recommend Mastery > Power > Crit as your focus. Also you should get your gear fully augmented when you've the advanced pvp armor.

  19. Soooo.... sorc healers are really suposed to work the way they do?! I mean, these fellows are sort of lvl 70 already, while everybody else is still lvl 65. What's the point of having a specc that is completely uber and above everything else? I don't get it.

Welcome to MMO's! There is always gonna be balance issues, though SWTOR is notorious for some really bad balance issues.

  20. Decent build, but imo Blade Dance is semi-useful filler in Focus. I would take Ardent Advocate instead of Blade Dance root.

The root comes in handy when trying to lockdown healers or stall when capping. Besides arenas I think that Blade Dance root is the better option.

  21. Sorcs can survive somewhat longer than the other healer classes, but 6 dps can still burn them down in no time. Even if they let a sorchealer freecast, they can melt the tank.

So no, there's no way a tank + sorc combo can survive 6 DPS longer than it takes to burn all their defensives - and that goes pretty fast.

Depends on the map, on some maps it doesn't take more than around 10 seconds before the tank can return to the healer, so even if you can burn down the tank it's quite irrelevant so long the tank is quick to return. And you can easily use a well placed Teleport to escape all the DPS while waiting for your tank, or just use Invincible Bubble. On my Sorc healer I can face tank 6 average (as in the average PUG dps), for probably around 20 seconds without a tank (using Force Barrier). Of course things does get a bit more complex when your bubble is on CD. Unless you can kill the Sorc in the time gap after the tank has died we're back to square one. This is of course all assuming that we're dealing with the average dps in a Warzone, more skilled peoples knows how to preserve there stuns and use interrupts on CD.

I am not implying that the Sorc won't die a bunch of times, Invincible Bubble does have a 3 minute cooldown. But I can't see you managing to kill the rest 4+ peoples before the Sorc comes back, unless he's locked behind a full door.

  22. Doing 2k sustained DPS as a damage dealer is not hard at all. If you cannot do it, you're just plain bad.

Doing 12k sustained HPS as a healer is impossible.

See how your maths doesn't add up? From all your posts on this forum, I get the feeling you're just bad.

It depends on the healer, sure doing 12k sustained HPS is impossible but I think you're forgetting Invincible Bubble, Teleport, Intercede (Intercede gives a flat 30% damage reduction on top of guards 50%) and finally Cloud Mind that with the correct Utility Point gives 25% damage reduction. This makes killing a guarded Sorcerer the same as hitting a brick wall with you bare fists.

This screenshot of a recent warzone proves that beating guarded sorc healers isn't impossible but incredibly hard: http://i.imgur.com/demuQd8.jpg. Btw to the best of my knowledge my team didn't have a premade, I could be mistaken but I do usually check it.

If the healer you're referring to is a Merc or Operative healer, killing them is a simple matter of focus firing on the healer. And neither of them have the cooldowns to survive being hit by 6 dps at the same time.
