  1. I'm not even sure what the OP's beef is. NPCs are not deferential enough to his Inquisitor?

I seem to recall most other interactions in the story/planet quests being along the lines of 'get respect' or there being a convo option to kill or threaten... the inquisitor just seems far to jovial and willing to deal with npcs...

For example, in the class specific Inquisitor story quest on Rishi, within 1 sentence of rambling dialog from the npc there is lighting at his finger tips... that is what I had come to expect....

  2.

How the heck does my Inquisitor put up with this stuff??? He is a member of the Dark Council!! I play the 'good' side mostly, but virtually every conversation with this toon I am looking for the 'kill them' or 'force choke' option. What the heck? Why would they be so accommodating? And wouldn't even non force sensitives just 'feel' (like the brief dialog of the republic sniper with Darth Marr in his sights) the power of the being in front of them?

I mean, the story worked for Jedi as I would think they would not 'put forth their power' as a matter of course, but with Sith? what the heck is going on???

  3. So say all I'm doing is gaming. will this config be able to put out a solid 60+fps. I'm just playing on a 1920x1080 monitor.

I have an i7 4790k and a GTX 770, with no OC. With graphics settings in swtor at Very HIgh @ 2560 x1440 I will get 100+ fps if I turn off vsync. I'm sure you'll do fine!

  4. well if I wanted to spend another grand on a i7 processor I would have, but I figured that this CPU is sufficient enough. I will let y'all know how that goes.

Another $100 would have gotten you the new i7 4790k... which I'm pretty sure is faster in both single and multithreaded workloads than anything but the new i7 6 core processors, and with an 88 watt TDP. Might be worth a look if you have options to exchange what you've got...

  5. I have absolutely no argument that crafting for some (but definitely not all) conquests plays a very significant role in acquiring points. That's not at all what my argument is.

You're calling it P2W, as in spending IRL $ nets them a win. I showed you numbers that prove there's no way it can possibly be that. It's literally THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. Your P2W assertion is farcical. That's my point.

I'm going to quote my own reply to you from a few pages back. It's not the Jawa Junk! It's the stuff in the packs or the packs themselves being sold. Here is the real math again:

You don't even need the jawa junk. Buy Hypercrates, Sell Packs, get enough credits to buy ALOT of mats, even at inflated prices.

Right now the least expensive pack on the GTN is 200k, x 24 in a crate = 4.8 million credits. Mats are selling for, on average, about 150k per stack at even the most high demand. So, worst case, that gives you enough credits to buy about 32 stacks of materials, which translates to about 130 war supplies, plus about 25 invasion forces. And last week with 100% conquest bonus that equaled about 230,000 conquest points. So, with a little lead time 4 people willing to spend $40 will add about 1 million pts to your total. Now, what if you have 10 people willing to do so, or 10 people willing to spend $120? If you think there aren't people willing to spend that, or even much, much more, take a look at this article I posted a while back:

  6. Not to be a jerk, but responding in kind, L2Read. The link you provided tells me about the Jawa Scrap Peddlers, which I already knew about, and tells me Jawa Junk drops from Cartel (gambling) packs, which I also already knew.

However, the question that I asked was: What is the name of the pack from which people are obtaining these mass quantities of Jawa Junk?

I have to assume it's not the gambling packs (as in the most recent Constable's Stronghold Pack) because I can do basic math. Therefore, I have to assume that there is another one with which I am unfamiliar.

So... educate me, Swami, please! What is the name of the pack with Jawa Junk you're using as the basis for your "Crafting is P2W Conquest" argument?

  7. Yes everyone is aware how effective the return is, however everyone should also be aware that crafting is the only activity that costs.

In order to craft you need mats and you need them on a large scale.

To get mats you have to

-spam resources nodes which costs game time

-spam gathering missions which costs credits+real time

-buy mats off GTN which costs a lot more credits but not time.

Warzones, GSF, and flashpoints only cost time, there is no credit expenditure.

Some people seem to complain that it gives to much points for something that occurs passively. (ignoring the active time require to accumulate the wealth or mats) However it is important to note that since crafting is passive, that Crafting+PvP, Crafting+GSF, or Crafting+Flashpoints will always yield higher points than just Crafting, and that statement will always be true as long as crafting doesn't give infinite points.

Crafting is also a function of available resources, time, credits and available crafting alts, while all other sources of conquest points are a function player accounts. While larger guild population still gives a advantage in the crafting area of conquest, the effectiveness of it is not purely tied to guild numbers. Or in other words superguilds like Triumph will stand the most to gain from a nerfed crafting system.

It is also important to note that a guild that has been as dominant as Triumph has been, will have known about Crafting's effectiveness since day 1 of conquests. Crafting nukes are after all the oldest trick in the Conquest book. However it is interesting to note that Triumph only complains after they burned out on crafting, as evidenced with this quote

Now they wish to pursue a different meta having burned themselves out exploiting the old one.

Dude, you need to let this one go.

I am shocked that I'm about to stand up for the folks that kicked my butt last week, but the fact is that crafting is conquests when it comes down to it. Every other activity is just a filler to occupy excess time in between either directly or indirectly supporting the crafting regime.

I think you are placing too much value on progress in other aspects of the game (i.e. accumulating credits) vs. the goal of planetary conquest, and you struggle to see why people would choose to pursue a strategy that does nothing but diminish progress towards every other in game goal. Perhaps in that your way of thinking is not that far removed from the OP: Why in the world has Bioware created a system that does just that, and was that their intent?

  8. Why don't you all just create another thread where folks are free to debate just how much better (or worse ) crafting is than other conquest objectives. Perhaps another thread where people discuss whether Triumph, WOOK, et al have some nefarious purpose in bringing up the question of crafting now.

In this thread, there is one question: Did Bioware intend crafting to become such an overwhelming contributor to the overall conquest point structure?

Oh, and also, you can create another thread where you debate whether Planetary Conquests itself is actually just a massive credit sink supporting and complimenting a soft push towards a pay-to-achievements (and dare i say win) future.

  9. I am surprised more of this conversation has not veered into pay-to-win territory.

Bioware must recognize that there is a very short (and profitable for them!) path from cartel coins to crafting materials. I would not at all be surprised if having the only infinitely repeatable conquest objective also be the one that can be directly supported by cartel purchases is in fact very much intended.

Eventually a lot of folks are going to burn out their banks and inventory, not to mention lose their desire to farm and rotate alts on gathering missions. Maybe Bioware is hoping some of these folks are the whales they are looking for??

  10. No.

He might have been at some point because one of the officers was mass inviting all the server's worst trolls for some reason. Maybe that's why he is suggesting he is in Triumph.

For e.g. there's someone else (not going to name) who was invited and who I promptly /gkicked when I logged on. Since then he has harboured a vendetta and actually renamed himself Triumph to troll us. (He actually got us reported in-game too for throwing a PvP match because people thought he was in our guild... sigh).

Whoops, I guess I should read all the posts before I put up my last one. Thank you for the confirmation, and the warning as well. I have been trolled, expertly it may seem, I guess I am a bad.

Once again, that was a great battle, hopefully one we all won't have to repeat too soon!

  11. Gonna go on record and state that Churb's comments and opinions are not affiliated with Triumph. We enjoyed the competition with WOOK and look forward to competing against them again.

Thanks! We really enjoyed the competition! More so if we had won, of course... But in the end, we always do our best to be respectful both in victory and defeat.

However, a lot of Churb's posts would seem to imply he is a member of Triumph, even though he hides behind the anonymity of the forums. It certainly detracts from Triumph's image and your accomplishments to have someone like that being associated with you. Admiration can quickly turn to begrudging acknowledgement, or worse, you know? That being said, you can't separate the person and the player from the comments and opinions, and it would really detract from your image if you were hiding the same person whose comments you wish to distance yourself from behind a very carefully worded response. If I am off base in that suspicion than I apologize in advance, and we can all rest easy knowing Churb is simply the forum's biggest wanna be.

  12. hide from my own words? not at all, i can repost what i put if you really like, rather i was asked to remove it to prevent too much drama, apparently some wooks are very sensitive to being trolled for losing, so you're welcome for taking down a troll post instead of leaving it up to make fun of you guys for losing :rak_03:

Wait, what? You don't even have the final say in what you are allowed to post on the forums? This just keeps getting better. So, tell us, who pulls the strings of the mighty "King" Churb?

Also, I'm pretty sure everyone in WOOK knows where we finished this week, and a few 'reminders' aren't going to really do much to our mood either way. If you are going to troll us go ahead, we are big boys and girls and can take it, but at least have the guts to not edit your post after the fact. As Klaw said, show the real you!

  13. My hat's off to Triumph: congratulations on your victory! The number of points you put up is stunning, and the number of players you brought to bear day in and day out was impressive.

My fellow WOOKs: What an amazing week! We ran more OPS and Flashpoints, and built more War Supplies than I could ever imagine! Best of all you proved what great people you are, even as we focused all our effort on victory, we never lost sight of what is most important to WOOK: to enjoy the game we play and those we play it with, and to have fun!

  14. Thanks for the post, we'll look into it!

    Hi Devs!

I know you have probably had your hands full, what with servers being down and this entire conquests thing as a whole, but right now you have 2 of the biggest, most super awesome guilds on Shadowlands locked up in what may end up being the highest point scoring battle for a planet to date. But, and I think I probably speak for everyone in both guilds when I ask: Does CZ-198 count, or are we breaking our crafting war chests on a planet that has no achievement and does not count towards the "The Galaxy Conqueror" title.

Please, before I queue up my next batch of Invasion Forces, please, please just let us know.

    Thanks.

p.s. If it's not too much trouble, two more things: Could you explain the " - or exchanged for powerful tools on conquered planets" part of the War Supplies: Invasion Force tool tip, and also what the word "Economy" refers to in the invasion bonus line for CZ-198.

  15. So, a few patches ago we got 'recommended' gear levels for most end game PvE content, placing the gear requirement somewhat right in your face. PvP of course has bolster which should in theory, negate the gear requirement to some extent. However, and especially it seems with very weak or very strong end game PvE gear, bolster puts players at a gear disadvantage that might be more than they expect, or I guess even have a clue about. How many players actually know that PvE relics will not proc in warzones?

Now, I know there are two sides to PvP and gear, on one hand it has to be accessible to new and casual gamers to maintain and attract population, and on the other it must be challenging and rewarding to those who focus on PvP. That being said, perhaps there could be a little more in game information about PvP gear. At the very least, perhaps a quest that introduces the concept of expertise rather than just the location of the warzone mission terminal and the join queue button, and maybe a warning to players about to queue (like some bold red text on the queue screen) that will describe to them the affect expertise will have vs a fully PvP (and by that I just mean 2018 exp) geared player.

  16. I remember commenting on some "premades = bad" threads a while back.

Point is, the main reason premades get a bad rap is because of low server populations and faction imbalances. If you are unlucky enough to queue when one of the PvP-centric guilds is queuing, you are going lose, not just because you are facing a premade, but because, well, they are better, and in many cases a lot better than you. And that better means skill and experience, not gear or voice chat. Deal with it. But, because of low population, you might face the same team 2, 3, 4 or more times in a row. For a new player or a casual player this can lead to frustration. I think there should be a place for casual PvP, and I also think you should expect to get beaten badly, but there are times when I think people wonder why they are playing at all. That is bad for everyone, because every lost player is lost revenue which is lost potential investment in the game.

  17. I always thought the Infiltration section of Scum and Villainy was a cool mechanic. I could see turning it into a WZ like this:

First, it would be two rounds, like voidstar, first you defend, then you attack. There would be 3 objectives (kill an NPC, plant a bomb, sabotage a ship, etc) to secure on the map for any match. The objectives would be pulled from a set of like 10, so that matches would be different. The objectives would not have to be secured in any particular order, and there would be multiple paths (some open, some more or less concealed) to each objective. The objectives would be revealed to both the attacking and defending teams at the beginning of the round, so the teams could plan a strategy. The defending team would always be given a head start to get to the objectives at the start of the round only. The objectives would have features that significantly, but not overwhelmingly benefited class types, for instance, one objective could be surrounded by numerous pillars that would make maintaining los difficult for ranged, and another objective may have a 'bunker', which, when occupied, slowed any enemy character within 15 meters of that bunker. I think maybe speeders (whether you had one yet or not) would be available to use because of the size of the map. Each round would have an 8 to 10 minute timer. Winner and loser would be determined by number of objectives won, then by how fast if tied, then by who knows what.

I think you could have a ton of strategy: how do you split up teams, do you just abandon an objective to help secure another, do you try and ambush the attacking team on the way to an objective, etc, etc..

If it were designed in the right way, new objectives could be 'plugged in' to the rotation over time without having to do a whole new WZ map.
