    Can a Fully Honed Mandalorian beat a Jedi?

    im voting for Satine to go down. if not her, Ashoka. anyways...

     

    Mandalorians had a fierce reputation as "Jedi-killers" because of a select few of their kind. A fully-honed Mando vs. a Jedi? lets look.

     

    Boba Fett fought Darth Vader and survived, even earning the Dark Lord's respect. Jango Fett stood up to Obi-Wan Kenobi, and fell in battle against the most prominent lightsaber duelist of his time (Mace Windu). Mandalore fought with Kun and had all the advantages, but lost anyway. Why? Because Kun had Sith magic on his side.

     

    Pre Viszla managed a short duel with Kenobi as well. And Viszla isn't even fully-honed. Bo Katan fought Ashoka, but neither won. It comes down to the gear in the end.

     

    The gear here could be:

     

    Fully-honed Mando:

    Crushgaunts

    Blaster carbine

    Flamethrower

    Electrostaff/Force pike

     

    Jedi:

    Lightsaber

    The Force

     

     

    depending on the gear, the Mando's got it. Crushgaunts are devastating, Force pikes and Electrostaffs are great lightsaber counters, and Jedi can't block flamethrowers (its possible but I'd bet the Mando would throw in the flames as a surprise).

     

    Gotta hand it to them Mandos. I do believe Traviss overrated them, but I do love Mandos as well.

    Either Jedi or Mando has a chance here. The odds seem to be stacked one way (Jedi), but ya never know

     

    Not exactly overrated because of the null arcs who were the best trained clones ever and discovered grevious.

    Bring back Mara?

    (Apologies if this has been discussed to death before; I don't check these forums that often. Also, spoilers for old books.)

    So I know Star Wars doesn't really do the whole "bringing dead characters back to life" thing like the Marvelverse does (or Trek did) after the Palpatine-cloning thing blew up in everyone's faces, but I genuinely do think it would be justified in the case of Mara Jade. Seriously, of all the characters to kill, that one makes very, very little sense. Chewie I could understand, in that he had long since ceased to be all that significant. Anakin Solo made sense as well, to up the odds and bring the emotional pain along with the whole "losing Coruscant" thing.

     

    But Mara was still an important character, with a lot of fan and authorial support. She was killed off by a different author than the one who created her, without that original author's input, which just screams sloppiness and worse, simple selfishness. It left her whole story on a bitter note, and that fact that Zahn is still willing to write stories featuring her shows that there is still an attachment to the character amongst Lucasfilm (or whoever manages the books specifically).

     

    Frankly, I think Zahn and the Lucasfilm people should just take the next step and bring her back. Traviss has had to be retconned before (the Mandos and their OP-ness, for instance), so her worst mistake should be fixed as well. There's already been so much weird Force-********-whatever surrounding her and letting her temporarily return as a ghost that they may as well just take the plunge.

    Anyone else feel the same way?

     

    No dead is dead. she even turned into a force ghost. No more clone repossession crap. What's done is done. She was going to die anyway.

    Karen Traviss no longer writing star wars books has nothing to do about Mara dying.

    In an email to me, and which I already knew, the reason SHE decided not to write any more star wars books was because the Clone Wars, in 3 episodes of the Mandolorians, changed the way she created them. The went a whole different route than what she had written and decided to no longer be with star wars. If you can still find it, Karen Traviss actually has a mandalorian language that can found on the net.

     

    Stupid clone wars!! So that's why I never found out what happened to the null arcs. (I really hate the clone wars idea of mandalorians. :mad

    A note to those that want to be arrogant *****s just due to the fact that you have multiple 50's.... it doesn't mean you know everything about those classes... for those that aren't *****s, this doesn't apply to you.

     

    Dealt with a ***** who was a Sentinal, tanking HM False Emp and since that person saw that my heal speced commando was near full ammo when the first boss knocked them off and the 2 DPS ditched the group I get told that my heals sucked because my ammo was full..... So I told them that only 2 heals use ammo and he'd know that if he ever played a healing commando. They then replied that they have a 50 merc and 50 commando. I snickered and promptly put them on ignore.

     

    Moral of the story, know your **** before you start to blame others for failing especially when my heals kept the group up when your 2 melee dps didn't know when to get away from the big attack....[/
