  1. I don't know if BioWare/EA is doing this but personally those that are still Subscribed to the Game should get a 30-50% Discount for the Cartel Market on all Item's and those that are playing the Game with the F2P Option will have to pay the Full Price.

This is essentially what BW/EA are doing. Except, instead of giving subscribers 30% or 50% off , subscribers get a stipend of 500 CC each month.

A stipend is a more brilliant solution, being that it encourages you to use the Cartel Market. This will inevitably increase your familiarization with using the Cartel Market, thus increasing the likelyhood that you will buy CC. Giving a discount would not have the same effect.

If you're suggesting having the stipend and the discount, that makes very little business sense.

  2. Actually this is not true, if you are standing within what the game defines as "melee" range for threat (note, different than melee attack range), taunt generates 110% of the the threat of whoever is the current target of the npc you just taunted, or 130% if you are farther away. You can test this easily by going and finding a random elite in the wild and having a friend or companion attack it for x amount of time, then taunting it and having them stop attacking. As long as they do not start generating threat again, the npc will continue to attack you. Other than that, good write up from what I read.

110% or 130% of 0 is 0. Kitru was talking about why opening combat with taunt does very little for threat generation.

  3. ...AND lol as far as the tone of my post being judgemental; welcome to the internet my friend.

Hold on a sec. You can behave based on: "Well the Internet is a faceless medium of communication, and there really won't be any repercussions for what I write to some other person, so it's okay for me to not be civil, gracious, and kind."

But when someone performs an action that is completely working as intended (e.g.; rolling Need on a virtual item in a video game on the Internet), you are up-in-arms about it?

I'm just assuming you're unaware of how contradictory your side of this conversation is.

  4. If there is another BH in your group that needs gear do you do the same thing? Cause if you do you are extremely wrong and deserve to Be ignored by everyone on your server.

I inspect every BH I encounter in a FP. If he/she has Columi for the slot in question, then I'd say he doesn't need it. I'll roll Need np. If it's an upgrade for him, then I typically let him have it.

I will say that the tone of your post is very judgemental. I really don't appreciate you deciding that some random, hypothetical person's time is more important than mine. Exactly how would that make you feel?

Usually at the beginning of the FP, if I'm there for my companion's gear, I'll let the group know. If they don't like it, they can leave. Based on your logic, I'd have to spend half of my time gearing up someone else. Fun.

  5. I'm a Bounty Hunter tank. I need absolutely nothing for my main spec from HM FPs. However, I run HM FPs for the sole purpose of gearing up my Aim-using DPS companion. This kills two birds with one stone, as that set of Columi is also my DPS off-spec set.

If I take the time to run a HM FP, I have every right to roll Need on gear for my companion that uses my main stat. This is especially true since I've already completed my main-spec gear.

    Main-spec > Off-spec > Companion > Vendor

If I've completed my main-spec, I don't need those pieces anymore, as now I Need my off-spec gear.

Having said all of that, I would never Need on gear that drops for an IA Operative without the permission of the group.

  6. At 19 there really isn't a huge difference between a dps and a tank. In fact tank-pecced clases don't feel tanky until around 30. I personally don't have a set pace I tank at. If I'm pulling too fast for the healer's resource system to recover to optimal levels, or my dps and/or healer are pulling faster than I am, I need to adjust my pace accordingly. Changing pace may be stressful @ first (especially speeding up, but doing so will make you more confident in your tanking abilities.
  7. If only you had an argument. All you did was a horrible analogy and said it was elitist with no claim whatsoever to back it up. You HAD no argument so uh ... "best of luck to you?"

I'm sorry the combination of words I used to construct my sentences was ineffective in communicating my point. Perhaps I'll try a new combination.

Why would you want more people who come to play this game be put on their own servers? It would be more condusive to the longevity of the game if f2p players were on the same servers as subscribers. Why?

Simple economics. I am a f2p player, and am playing with others who subscribe. I've been able to access a large portion of the game, but have major limitations as to what I'm allowed to access. I want more access. Maybe it's because I've made friends with some subscribers and want to run some operations with them. Maybe I really like WZs or FPs and want to do them more than three times per week. Or maybe I'm just tired of not being able to use most of the speeder bike transportation hubs.

Allowing me (someone with limited access) play on the same servers as subscribers gives me the opportunity to want what they have. If I want it bad enough, I'll pay for it.

Now, I'm just one person. If this happens a lot, it could mean a sizeable increase in profits for BW.

More money for BW = more reinvestment in SWTOR = more content

Saying I have no argument does not make it so. Even if you say it twice in the same paragraph. I'm sensing a bit of rage in your response, and am not quite certain where it is stemming from.

Best of luck to you, sir.

  8. LOL right ...

So I want to play in a server where I dont need to see, play with or against Richie Rich who just bought himself every single goodie made available at the cash shop and prefer to play with those who actually earn their rewards by playing the game.

Oh my, im such a racist jerk

Using an analogy to make a point, and putting a label on someone are completely separate things. If you wish to use self-degrading sarcasm to ignore my argument, best of luck to you. However, nothing in your rebuttal brings any value to the conversation.

  9. yeah its good the f2p is limted but the spamming in general chat will just b really bad that is my main problem and they have load of empty severs witch can b used to keep fans who played since day one happy and also keep f2p player happy that is my point

Since when has General chat on fleet been void of spamming? And those are paying customers...

Why the segregation between subs and f2p? Sounds elitist to me, and reminds me a bit of moments in the US's history that are just shameful.

Ummm...the f2p water fountain is over there...this one is for subscribers only.

  10. There are some bosses / mini-bosses / elites who randomly attack members of your group, regardless of your threat level. Eventually you'll figure out which encounters have these. Taunting these random-aggro bosses / min-bosses will typically switch their focus to you for 8 secs or so. It seems most groups are aware of this mechanic, as nobody has ever made any comments to me about losing aggro.

Use your charge as an opener, and if a dps drops an AoE near you, run the melee mobs into it and use your pull on a ranged mob outside of the AoE to help dps increase their efficiency.

Learn to love your interrupt (for trash mobs most useful on channeled abilities), and your healer will love you.

Deny yourself as much accuracy as you can.

EDIT: You and the healer are the equivalent of the bassist and drummer of a rock band (the backbone), embrace the role. Understand the resource mechanics of each of the healing ACs, and monitor them via the group / op window. Never start the next encounter if the healer's resouces aren't border-line optimal. If you can do that and move through the FP at a rate that is fast enough to prevent DPS from pulling, you are on the road to success.

  11. I've run Battle of Ilum HM six times in a row (last Columi I need is off-hand), and saw nothing but Inquisitor items drop for all six runs. I'm a Bounty Hunter tank, and the group composition consisted of 2 sorcs, 1 assassin dps, and me on one end of the spectrum, and 1 merc, 1 op, 1 sorc, and me on the other end of the spectrum. I just find it odd that all drops in all six runs of BI were for Inquisitor...seems broken to me. Guess I'll have to try to put together a group of all Bounty Hunters...

  13. ......until we reached the bridge of the Black Talon for the last time for mission hand-in, then booted his stupid butt from the group before we started the last convo.

    Mwuhahahahahahaaaaaaaaa.

    This made me laugh...sweet...sweet justice.

  14. So, everyone in the game will have to waste their time typing first and last names for invites, whispers, etc.? Requiring people to type an additional name all the time for most social features of the game b/c some people just HAVE to have a particular name (which actually has no bearing what so ever in their playing the game) is trivial and selfish. Pick a new name and get over it.

I rolled on a destination server, and before server transfer details were announced, I was really hoping to transfer so I could change some names of my characters.

Guess what, it didn't happen for me. I got over it. Everyone complaining about names being lost b/c of transfers should get over it too. If you quit or threaten to quit b/c you can't have your name, you will have admitted to the community just how shallow you really are.
