  1. I was under the impression that Swtor was a pve game 1st with pvp as an option.

    So why is this game being balanced around pvp, since pvp consists of 3 boring warzones?

    Because balance doesn't matter as much in PvE since you're not fighting other classes.

  2. Would you play this game if it wasn't pay to play and it was free to play with a cash shop with microtransactions?

    There's absolutely no way I'd play it if it was F2P.

  3. Not sure where else to post this. I am a mix between PVP and PVE I do alot mostly! (I have no life, wtb gf) Anyways what class has the beefiest dots out there. I enjoy dotting up my enemies in pvp the cleansing factor isnt a issue to me. In team pvp if a healer chooses to cleanse dots its a GCD they cant use for heals. I am not really looking to be ****ROFLSTOMPBBQ class I just want to load dots on people to the point the pressure on the healer becomes to much. PVE is cool either way dots are never really a bad thing in a PVE enviroment.

    DoTs are terrible in PvP. Even ignoring the fact that they can be cleansed. What you need is burst and CC.

  4. 1.2 is a strange patch all right though, some of the classes that seemed destined to maybe be toned down a little have been untouched or even buffed and those that seemed bound to get a buff or two have been nerfed. Who knows what goes on in the mind of a Developer? :eek:

  5. im a level 21 Sentinel and trainning in both Knight and Sentinel abilties is getting exspensive. And I dont have the credits to train in both. So my question is should I pick 1 set over the other or do I have to train in both.

    What the f*** are you doing with all your money? Skill training should only be like 10%-20% of your expenses at most. Where's the other 80 to 90 percent going? You're doing something very, VERY wrong here.

     

    you do not need to buy every upgrade, upgrade ones you use the most, ones that already give very little damage but are crowd control stuff such as interrupts or stuns you dont really need to upgrade those since they do very little damage and their stuns/interrupts wont get longer by upgrading them from the trainer

    Don't listen to this guy. Skill buying shouldn't even put a dent in your money. I'm saying that as someone constantly spamming crew skills, buying every skill available, best ship upgrades available for my level at the vendor and just generally letting my money burn a hole in my pocket. I don't buy gear though. You get more than enough gear from commendations, loot and mission rewards.

     

    Edit: And always do your bonus objectives when it's one of the multiple part kind. Those always give blues, oranges with blue mods or 3+ commendations.

  6. And as a point force camouflage still grants 50% damage reduction.

    Combine that with the -30% AOE damage skill and you still have -80% damage from the AOE's the OP is complaining about. I don't see the problem.

  7. You jumped to conclusions about their comments. I never saw a comment that said existing items would be changing. You may not have noticed, we are aware of this now and the release is weeks away. I'd consider that proper warning.

    Maybe because such a conclusion is basic common sense to anyone not thinking in twisted dev-logic. Who reads "We're making it so orange gear can get set bonuses." and interprets it as "We're making is so a small fraction of set bonuses can transfer to orange gear.". If I tell you i'm going to wash your car wouldn't it surprise you if only the left rear door was cleaned?

  8. see, this is the very reason why devs in general give answers like soon instead of definite info. he explained WHY current items wont have transferable set bonuses, and how they have corrected the issue going forward and yet you are still prepping the torches and pitchforks for this grave injustice!

     

    even if you go with the assumption that he thought you could switch set bonuses from current items, a little understanding goes a long way. managing several teams, across several different builds of the game, its pretty easy to make very minor mistakes such as that one.

    Doesn't excuse the fact that it should never have been that way in the first place. What's the point of wasting time implementing orange gear if nobody could wear it without being a gimp? After FINALLY noticing this glaringly obvious design flaw and getting around to fixing it, they only give us half a fix. Matters aren't helped by the fact that half their art department is clearly dropping acid on the job.

     

    Edit: And no, the reason devs say "soon" is because of utter incompetence when it comes to meeting deadlines. They manage to do things on time maybe 1 in 20 times if we're lucky. Rather than adjust their predictions to be more realistic they instead take the lazy way out as usual and simply refuse to predict at all most of the time.

    Edit: Besides, what's wrong with sith looking good? It's cloth clothing. It's not like covering more will give better protection. It's also not like all the armor is that way or even most. What's wrong with the human body?

  10. I almost like the PVE set with hide helm. The shoulder... whatever the $&$@ those are, things ruin it.

    Skis. That way if you need to escape you can lay on your side and slide down the hill.

  11. Well, acording to the comments in this board, whatever class you prefer playing got "nerfed" (where does this word come from anyway?) the worst. :D

    Nerf products are soft foam versions of dangerous objects like bats, swords, guns and such. Hence to nerf something is to make it less dangerous.

I was just wondering if the Jedi Guardian has the same abilities as the Juggernaut, I've seen a Jugg force choke people and then throw them back (mainly in hutball, throwing people right into fire). But I don't recall ever seeing Guardians do this. I would just play a Jugg but I've leveled a couple empire to 50 already and would really like to play a Republic but would be pretty bummed if I leveled a Guardian and it didn't have that ability..

     

    Just thought I'd ask the Guardian players since I can't seem to find anything in ability lists. Thanks.

    Same abilities, different graphics. Guardians have force push.

  13. As quest rewards (FP, Heroics) or buy one from Galactic Trade Network, social vendors or alignment vendor?

     

    Don't worry. There are several and you will get a new one sooner or later.

    You forgot commendation vendors and random world drops.

  14. MMO's for me. Having played UO, EQ, EQ2, WoW, SWG, etc., I've become really jaded. I'm still waiting for the MMO that breaks the mold and does everything differently, again. UO was the only one so far in the list that did things a bit differently. Skill based advancement rather than leveling, nearly full player-run economy, etc.

    Eve has both those things.

  15. Title pretty much says it... For the past 2 days across 3 chars and 2 servers (and 2 different server regions to boot), I have not had a single commendation drop. Now, the drop rate used to be pretty low, but now they're non esixtant.. and I'm the type of player who generally kills all mobs I pass by, and, for instance on hutta, I generally end up with 15 or more by the time I'm done.

     

    Now, most of you will say "big deal" or otherwise try to troll this thread, but the point here is 1. the drop rate was already pretty bad, 2. you don't get nigh enough commendations from mission rewards to buy anything, and 3. getting new gear as you level is pretty important.

     

    So, what say you bioware? What's the deal?

    I got two yesterday during a single heroic. "I just flipped a coin and it landed on tails 5 times so heads is bugged" is not a valid test. Next time give it longer and check in guild and/or general chat to see if it's just you before claiming something is a bug.

     

    relog....if this is your first mmo then you dont know that your "luck" is set when you login like rolls....some logins are higher rolls, others are average lower.....its fact

    I've been playing MMOs since MUDs and I never heard of that. It's a ridiculous superstition you randomly pulled out of your butt. It's not even a common myth, much less a fact.

  16. I'm just not seeing the Combat love. Yeah, Blade Rush spam is very powerful, but also very boring. I like Sentinels not being a button mashing class. I would've preferred a Zen effect like "increases the duration of your precision slash" to be added instead of having Zen affect Cyclone Slash.

     

    I agree. It encourages spamming the same ability. Your suggestion would reduce that while also helping with the problem of well timed CC during precision.

  17. I feel like in pvp I am getting destroyed because I can't push out the dps as I am always using strike to build focus.

    You're getting destroyed because you're f***ing lv13. You have a fraction of the skill points other people have and don't have most of your abilities yet. Your rotation is the last thing you should be worried about right now. It'll change a lot as you level anyway. Your focus problem is due to a lack of skill points. :rolleyes:

  18. In this thread: Tank player upset that he doesn't do the damage of a DPS class, so he's rerolling.

    He never said he was a tank. Guardians have 2 DPS specs.

     

    In what context do you think our survivability is so great? In PvP, we're probably the best 1v1 class/spec around. But get us 1v2 or 1v3 or 1v8 as it often is for me in Voidstar, and our survivability/DPS doesn't mean jack. Or get us running the ball in Huttball with 5 guys on top of us. We can be completely invulnerable for about 5 seconds when we're ganged up on, but no way can we soak up as much damage as a guard/jugg.

    How does any of that have anything to do with balance? Any class will die when ganged up on.

     

    You people make me laugh. You seriously think you aren't a bit overpowered right now at level 50?

    Considering 95% of the people on the sentinal forum are watchmen I doubt anyone seriously believes they aren't OP. It's more likely they just think if they pretend not to be aware of it they somehow won't get nerfed.

    My hardest hit to another BM is a bit over 3k.. is that one shot ? no it's not, get better gear :D

    It's a hypothetical example. It's not literal. God there's so much epic fail logic in this thread.
