  1. lol wut?

LOL look its the top parsing sin in the game, come to tell everyone how easy it is!!!

Look dude, you telling people its easy is like Tony Hawk telling people about skating vert ramp. Because you have a raid group that even lets you run a sin does not mean its easy. Groups dont want the lowest DPS class, they choose alternatives.

Madness is fail. One or two exceptions does not change that. I imagine a player like MMerry would lead the dps boards no matter what class he or she played. The average player cannot compete in madness. Period.

  2. Madness is a joke. People might tell you otherwise, but only 1 or 2 players, with positions in top tier raiding guilds can even obtain the gear you need to put up even average DPS numbers.

Several of the abilities pre-2.0 were removed, because of a personal grudge against madness sins, because the reasons stated just did not make any sense.

Avoid the pain, and just use a sniper or marauder. The "Class Rep" wont help you either. The last round resulted in a buff to Thrash (ROFL) and no fix.

Some of us tried to save madness. We were told by our own class rep to l2p, healtofull, lol.

For those of you that remember madness pre-2.0, you know how fun that assassins used to be. Now it has become a joke to DPS as a sin, unless you are 1v1 pvp.

  3. You guys, everything is fine. If you don't think so, you are just bad. I mean, look at all the NiM ops that have assassin DPS!

So many! I mean, just the other day I was on the fleet and had to stealth out because so many raid groups were practically STALKING me to come DPS NiM S&V!

Just look at those numbers on Torparse! Eat your heart out Marauders! We had one guy almost match your crappiest parse from the absolute worst among you!

So quit complaining guys, the class is so awesome! Just learn to play, god you suck!

  4. No you are just not a good shadow, but yeah your bad Internet connection is your dps problem (1 gcd =100 hits?). There are a lot more advanced classes out there that need their set bonus way more then shadow dps.

If you are not even good enough to do sm ops to get set bonus, you shouldn't compare yourself to other shadows.

If balance is also too difficult to play for you (it is one of the easiest specs out there in my opinion, compare it to eng sniper :D), you are simply not a good player.

You don't need 6 fingers for Balance, wild-berrys parses are really constant (he also did write that), obvious a set-bonus gives you additional dps.

Ok. So your point is I suck. I will even agree for the sake of argument. Not to highjack this thread further than I already have, but I disagree that madness dps is ok. At all.

I have no trouble with any competitive online games, console or PC. I have aged quite a bit, but grew up playing video games.

On my (alt) Jugg I can put on a few DPS pieces and parse higher.

On my Operative I can parse higher. (again, ALT)

On my merc I can parse higher.

On my marauder I dont even have to try to parse higher. (This one is not as surprising, as it is a true DPS)

On my main, on which I have logged over a year on, I suck. The class is just fine.

I have already stated that Pre 2.0 I could compete with a mara and merc for top dps in NiM EC. But I guess in 6 months I just forgot to play, because some wizard was able to squeak out a number that still is under performing compared to any other AC.

    Cool.

One last thing. Since we all agree that I suck now, and the class is just fine, and that is behind us- lets see your DPS parse, in madness, with no set bonus. Just so we are all in understanding that you are in a position to even make such a claim, and with your expertise you should have no trouble at all topping my 2260.

Again, I am agreeing with you that I suck. Let's see your numbers now.

  5. To fix madness easily:

    1. Give us a talent (make it top tier, since we wouldnt want any "low hanging fruit") that helps with force regen so we dont have to spam saber strike a billion times .

    2. Move conspirators cloak into the madness tree, as assasin tanks dont need the dps. It just doesnt need DPS, (we already do better than Juggs or PT's anyways)....

    OR

    3. Create a new talent, that just like conspirators cloak, gives a proc that allows assassinate at any health level.

    4. Create DPS option for Phase walk like many here have suggested that would either boost crit or power or apply a AOE dot.

Either 2 or 3 would put some burst back into the spec, give you another option, and 1 would allow the use of shock or thrash more and less saber strikes. 4 gives us a reason to use our 51 ability outside of PVP or datacron farming.

    Done, fixed.

  6. @kwestone: Just compare your posted parse to wild-berrys one... He gets 5 more death fields then you do, 2 more Crushing Darkness, 13 more saber strike hits, 14 Creeping Terror hits..... (all over the excact same amount of time). He has 988 hits on the dummy in 5 min while you have 888.

So, in other words, not only are we the lowest DPS (even our absolute best) , you need a 2 piece set bonus for enough resources for your rotation.

Funny, I don't have resource trouble on other toons.

I am guessing at least some of those are also related to the fact that I am on the Harbinger (runs on two hamsters instead of processors) and some of my GCD just dont fire. I am pressing keys, but the animation or attack just dont fire. During that parse I posted I know that happened at least once. The rest are because I am just out of force.

So lets recap- To do decent, below average DPS on a shadow or sin you need:

    - A T1 Internet connection or above

    - Set bonus

    - 6 fingers on each hand

    - 5 Minutes of no GCD bugs on SWTOR (ROFL)

    - LUCK

  7. How geared is your assassin? Are you using Ino's/wild-berry's rotation guides?

Geared to 100% 72 with no set bonus. 1 Verpine implant and the other is stalker.

    5) Viktorvaughn (2260 DPS) http://www.torparse.com/a/378262/time/1376160816/1376161116/0/Damage+Dealt

    Spec: 8/2/36 Madness Assassin

I have indeed read every guide ten times, shuffled stats, etc.

    My current stat balance is

24.6% crit, 71.3% surge. I have stacked power augs, switched them out for power. Tried putting accuracy above 100% (melee)

    Server transfer? ;-)

That would require me giving Bioware money. Wont happen until this issue is addressed . I am officially boycotting them and will continue to do so for the rest of my life for what they did to madness. They fix it, I might re-consider, but it looks like by the time they figure it out EOS comes out, and I am a big Elder Scrolls fan.

My feeling right now is the class balance devs = Jar jar Binks.

  8. But what would happen if players like Invinc, Red'october, Pizza'da'hut or B'oarder were playing a shadow DPS? The leaderboards are dominated by the best players. The shadow leaderboards are so empty that I'm on most of them as a tank!

If you're parsing 2260 on a dummy, I'd take you to a raid. Not a nightmare mode, but a hard mode. My guild does take a shadow DPS into nightmare modes (and a shadow tank in both of our NiM groups), but he parses 2.6k on a dummy (thus, about 3k on a boss).

And there it is. Why would I choose to raid HM with my main, when I can just clear NIM with an alt? I have decently geared Marauder, Jugg, Merc, and an operative. This is my point. I am good enough a player to be pushing NiM numbers, but it takes an act of god and apparently 6 fingers on each hand to be able to do it. That is wrong, and broken IMO. I do appreciate the offer KBN, and if I was on your server I would take you up on it. :)

  9. Dummy parse? Or boss parse? Thrasher is really the best source of DPS comparisons, and shadows generally do fairly well on that fight. I know Bioware trots out the execute phase argument a little too often (see: vanguards), but shadows do get an enormous boost from raid buffs and an execute.

That seems pretty respectable to me.

Dummy. But again, that is one fight, and one player. All you need to do is take a look at torparse top DPS on any boss fight to see that wild-berry is the exception, not the mean. Shadows and Assasins are sprinkled in the leader boards, but no where near as many are showing up when you average out all the fights.

Again, I am not the best player. But when I can't match DPS with my main that I have played since a couple months after launch than with any of my alts who I spend hardly any time on, then I give up. I cant pay for that product. Sorry, but this is all about $$ at this point to me. Madness is broken, force starved, and boring now. Deception is boring to me and always has been (I love the 10k crits with maul but that isnt enough IMO). Tank is broken, squishy, and looks like Master Computer in the first Tron.

I did manage to beat the operations chief NIM with my Jugg last week . Gratz to all the Juggs for the laughable ease of tanking. That class is a joke to tank with.

Anyways I wont bounce back and forth, because I have seen the math. I personally cant make it work, top out at 2260, and am tired of wasting my time beating dummies in the hope that some raid team will be retarded enough to bring a madness sin along.

  10. Great work KBN- Not that I have any faith that anything will change, and have already un-subscribed.

My only 2 cents is your madness point.

Before 2.0, I could out DPS both the Merc and the Marauder in my raid group with my assassin spec madness. Now, mind you, I am not claiming to be the best. I am not even claiming to be really good. But parsing 1500 DPS back before the great nerf of 2.0 was something I did regularly in EC HM/NIM.

Now, in 2.0 my best parse with complete 72 gear (no set bonus because people flat out refuse to bring me as a DPS) my absolute best parse is 2260 (If you look at the DPS leaderboard for Harbinger I am dead last for assassins).

So, my point is that with my skill level before I was able to post solid numbers. Same skill level now, better gear, stims, adrenals, etc. and try after try I cant top that 2260. So I would argue that Wild-Berry and one other guy that I saw are indeed exceptional players, and should NOT be compared to anyone.

I used to raid with Stomach who parsed 2000 pretty regularly with his powertech before 2.0 nerfed him and he switched up to Sorc (forgot his sorc name) so I am aware that there are certain players who will always be above everyone else.

BTW, I can parse 2400 on my marauder with 69 gear and just mashing the keyboard..... Sigh.

  11. Just like they did with the Scoundrel rep right? I don't know Waka, I just feel he would be a representative that has our best interests in mind. So sorry I have a differing opinion on a forum, didn't realize this was an "agree with whatever is said thread". Ill adjust.

Sorry to step into your flame world here but BULL *****!

WAKA is yet another PVP assassin. So is Xinka. KBN knows the math, knows the tanking issues, knows the madness issues, and the MAJORITY of shadows have voted for him.

The majority of players in this game PVE. Having two PVP oriented reps would be stupid, and would not represent the majority of players.

I, for one, feel like KBN and Xinka are a good balance. Gratz and well deserved KBN. I hope you can get them to fix this class so I can re-sub.

  12. Well, considering that the lettered mods are strictly inferior (at a largely-linear scale) to the unlettered mods, hybrid approaches are exactly that: a middle-ground between the two extremes. I'm currently running fully unlettered mods (with the exception of one of my 75s), and my healers haven't complained about buffer issues. However, every healer (and every healing class) is a bit different. If your healers feel that they need more of a buffer – and there's absolutely no shame in that – then you could swap just a few of your mods and see if it's enough. If they still need more, keep swapping. Switching just one or two mods to the B variants will result in a fairly significant jump in your maximum HP, so you should be able to see results right away.

Hey KBN, a guildie pointed my to this site: http://www.pgclan.net/?p=159#more-159 which has almost opposite numbers in respect to Shadow/Assassin Defense/Absord stats. Can you give me your two cents on it? I started stacking defense to see if it would really make a difference, but I ran out of mods/enhancements so I wanted to get some second/third opinions before I continue.

  13. Hey folks!

I apologize for the delay in response. In retrospect, I think us posting class top 3 answers on Fridays may be a poor decision. What that unfortunately creates is a situation where we can post answers and then at some point, need to go home. Leaving all of you on the forums to our silence, which is certainly not optimal.

Also, I know for Courtney the end of last week was a hectic one for her role on the team which made it difficult to take an active part in the thread. For myself, I wasn't in the country, I was in Germany for our Cantina event. Excuses aside, it was poorly timed on our behalf and I want to make sure we avoid that. I would rather us hold the answers for a day or two than kind of "drop the mic" on you after we answer.

This kind of thing is a great learning experience for us on what we can do to improve the class rep system. In both regards to you guys, the forum users, and us on the BioWare side in how we present information. I know this round didn't exactly make everyone throw a parade but it helps in making sure that we make this system better. At the end of the day I think we can all agree that getting a good dialog going about class issues is a good thing for everyone.

    -eric

    Eric-

I have a great deal of respect for you, and understand what a difficult position you are in. To be between a MMORPG fan base and the game developers is not an enviable position.

That being said, you responded to an Assassin thread over a month ago regarding Assassin tank spikiness, and told us that the issue was "being looked at". Shortly after that, you announced the class representatives deal, and gave us some hope that perhaps our issues would indeed be addressed.

I think there is a great deal of frustration from the assassin and shadow community because our mains are now pigeon holed into off tank, story mode content or just not even being able to raid or PVP ranked at all. We had hope that you would follow up on your words, and indeed fix the issues.

Also, in an interview on madsithasssassin.com, Austin Peckinpaugh said that assassins would be looked at if they were not performing.

News flash: They are not performing.

We are now more than 6 months into repeating ourselves on these forums, and I personally have unsubscribed. This is a result of your devs:

    1. Breaking a class that many people that are YOUR CUSTOMERS enjoyed

    2. Refusing to acknowledge that you broke it

    3. Continuing to take our money

Now, if the game were played by the devs, and it were theirs and theirs alone, I could understand this. But when your CUSTOMERS are telling you that the product you are SELLING THEM is unsatisfactory, is it not customary to at least ATTEMPT to resolve the issue?

Right now, your developers have spent 6 months absolutely ignoring one of the Tank classes in the game. Why? Why not make your customers happy and simply tweak the armor rating? I just do not understand the stance here.

As far as DPS assassins go, please tell Austin Peckinpaugh his interview serves as a reminder to anyone that can read that he has some promises to keep.

Or dont. Hey, I am just one person right?

Again, I personally have a great deal of respect for this games artists, writers, community reps, 3d texture artists etc.

But your class designers are your weakest link. I will remain un-subbed from this game until I see a parse that shows Assassins on par with other classes (no sideways talk about some special metric) and I see raid groups with 2 assassins clearing NiM content.

I have been a Bioware customer since the first Baulder's Gate (one of my favorites) and it saddens me to see one or two guys sullying your reputation with not only me, but an entire community of online gamers.

Also, one last thing: Thank you for having the courage to address the community, and taking time out of your busy schedule to do so-

  14. So I recently stopped playing my main (pretty well decked out Trooper) and started playing a Shadow...figured, it's Star Wars, right? I should have a high level alt w/ a sabre...Loved the toon until I got to Voss...

i'm 46 ATM, decently geared...all oranges w/ 40-45 level item enhancements...But I have trouble taking down Gold Star's [Proving Grounds Abomination in the Spirit World Proving Grounds for example]. Maybe I just need to LTP, but holy crud...I've done fine previously on Golds on previous worlds; this guy is wrecking me.

    I feel like my rotation is "fine" Starting w/ SK > SS > FP > FB > CSx2 > TT > FS > MC...etc (w/ a deflection thrown on)

Tried it w/ Tharan, tried it with Nadia...no dice...

    Tell me that:

    a) I'm doing something wrong (rotaion), a 46 v a 45 gold SHOULD be easy

    b) Shadows are broken

Thanks for input / advice...I like the concept of the class, but I like being able to solo w/ success when needed...

I would suggest balance or tank spec...

    1. For infiltration spec to really shine you need to be behind the target, which requires a tank companion to keep threat off of you. This will result in no heals, which makes it tougher.

    2. Balance has decent self heals and good DOTs, so with a healer companion you should be able to keep your health up.

    3. Tank stance is also an option if you have a shield offhand, even with the rest of you gear being DPS the damage will be mitigated and you can pull out a DPS comp to help burn faster.

Another option would be to do a couple flashpoints and PVP until you hit 47 and just level on Belsavis and Illum until you can come back and faceroll it at a higher level.

  15. Just nerfing Marauders and Operative Healers would bring the game very close to balance.

    Agreed.

I think its a valid argument to consider that shadows / sorcs / vanguards are not actually useless but rather jugg tanks / marauders / operative healers are just too damn strong. By nerfing them you balance the playing and then you can start to make small adjusts to achieve optimal conditions.

    Im not trolling.

To a madness assassin it would seem like you are trolling.

Our TOP DPS is like 2700. That is the absolute best. We cant even heal to full.

  16. Hey fellow shadows, since kitru resigned from the position of representative and the time to post our questions is only 2 weeks away i find pointless to redo all the poll and i'd advice bioware to promote keyboardninja (the one who was 3rd behind xinika and kitru).

He's always been helpful for our comminity providing lots of teory-craftng, but not only limited to that.

    What do you think?

What does it matter? We cant make them pay for attacking us by healing to full. No point in asking these "devs" anything IMO

  17. To the Shadow community, I've cancelled my subscription and, as such, will be quitting the game. I actually found another that interests me as much as TOR *used* to, which I didn't really expect. I realize that I was elected class rep and came back for that, but the fact that we're having to wait another month to get any kind of answers means that I just don't care any more.

The devs had a chance to do something to keep me around, and I gave them that chance. Of course, they completely and totally screwed it up, which doesn't really surprise me any more.

This isn't a cry for attention so much as an announcement that I'm leaving the game, since, if I just left, people would likely start to wonder. I don't plan on hitting up the forums any more, and, as such, another Shadow rep is going to be needed. My personal recommendation is KBN, mainly because he would provide a PvE/tanking perspective that syncs up with Xinika's PvP/DPS perspective. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me any more though. Nothing that happens in this game does. The devs screwed up too much too many times and if they ever *do* do anything about it, it'll be too little too late.

I'm sending something similar to Musco to let him know that a new Shadow Class Rep is needed, though, honestly, the questions for Shadows are relatively apparent now.

If anyone wants to see me, I'll continue going by Kitru wherever I crop up on the interwebs. Hopefully, I'll continue to see some of you guys wherever I find myself.

Mind if I ask which game? I personally am subbed to Eve now, and am working on getting my first toon viable for something.... I also will be un-subbing if the DPS and tank issues are not addressed next patch. I encourage anyone with any self respect to do the same, as it is obvious that this game is nothing more than a cash grab. I've received better customer service from my cable provider.....

  18. 9" Cheesecake delivered to Bioware ~ $85

    36 Cake Balls ~$75

    Ideas for the message

Where's the love? -Shadows and Assassins (with Red Velvet cake?)

What do you hate us? -Shadows and Assassins

Thanks for Sh***ing on Shadows -Guardian Tanks (Chocolate Cake Balls)

    Option #3.

What happens to my gear/credits/etc when I unsub? If I come back, will all my 72/purple stuff be there? I am done with this ****. It is so obvious that these guys are straight up incompetent, or vindictive- Either one doesn't bode well for anyone waiting for a change.

Please post if you do the cake thing- I want in.

  19. I've now tanked every fight but Warlords and Styrak on NiM. Everyone who says that sins can't do it, or even have a very hard time is very wrong. Like exceedingly wrong. Don't bring 2 assassins though, that makes nobody happy.

Which is exactly what our group did. Which lead to exactly what I said. You MMO dudes seriously turned me off to this **** so fast. ****it. Nerf Sins more, Im going back to drinking or something more constructive than this game and its cocky players and incompetent devs.

  20. I never just drop dead. That's not what I'm talking about. The only time I've dropped dead like that is when I tried to eat a terminate without blowing any CD's. On the City infiltration boss in NiM SV I take blue with a sniper and we're first to arrive at the boss no worries. I can eat ever 2nd - 3rd terminate by staggering my CDs and stacking against the RNG - Deflection or Overload saber + Shield clickly Relic. If I'm low at the time of terminate I blow Adrenal as well to help with the RNG.

I've never gone splat, and when we wipe due to healing it's not because I'm to hard to keep up, it's because DPS aren't spreading out during lightning phase, or DPS dropping Yellow circles in the middle of the raid.

My question is, am I gearing in the right direction? I've still got 2 B mods left, but, with Stim, I got 36.5k HP and over 2400 mitigation points. (545/868/1024) Do I want to replace the B mods and sacrifice more HP for more mitigation? What's a good HP lvl to stay around? I've read in the forums talk about the healing relic could be BiS for Sin tanks over the clickly shield one, should I be trying this out? Will it help me as a tank? I run torparse on every fight and check my threat and damage taken, and make sure I stagger my CDs all the time, just to prevent this "Spikiness" that I hear about, and seen in other Sin tanks.

Ok. Now run NiM. When you get to The Writhing Horror, you will notice a couple things:

    1. Every cooldown, adrenal, and trick you have at surviving will be used up by the time the first jealous male spawns. He hits like a truck too, so you will watch your health spike all over and hope your DPS can burn him before you die.

    2. When you switch back to TWH, you better hope you have a cooldown or two ready again (which you should by now), but even then it wont matter much as the RNG deaths start here. And this is the easiest fight.

If you get lucky and clear this fight, you have a steep hill ahead of you. The next easiest fight, Dash'rood is a big DPS check so that fight is not that bad. If your heals gets lost in a sandstorm its GG. Titan you can no longer shroud the grenade. Thrasher is where you will realize how bad this issue is.

Your stats are fine, right where they should be. The point is, the content was not designed for your class. Bioware set out to kill assassins, whether it was intentional or by miss-communication between the op devs and the class designers. The damage profile of the new content and the way assassins/shadows mitigate the damage is the issue, not your play. Try doing the same content with a Juggernaut, and it will be easy mode.

You will see a lot of people point out the raid groups that have cleared the content with assassin tanks, and that is great. Some people are ridiculously good at video games. I myself have not cleared a single NiM fight on my main, an assassin with all 72 gear and yet have cleared TWH with a mostly 69 gear Jugg. Our raid group went the way of the Beatles after Yoko Ono once we cleared that, but who cares, I hate playing a Jugg.
