  1. I think it's a clever choice made by the writers.

Despite what the pre-Skywalker Jedi code says, love does not really lead to the dark side. Actually if you think about it the Jedi code, as it is here, leads to a very unstable person. People may say that the Sith are insane but it's the Jedi that are being driven mad by having to fight even the most basic of thoughts and feelings.

A Jedi can't deal with emotions, so when they are finally overwhelmed with a feeling they fall quickly to corruption. Hug a Jedi, they turn into a Sith.

No love, no compassion, no joy, no sadness, no family, no friends....nothing....but a Sith can have all of those things and more.

  2. What's interesting to me, is that before Skywalker reformed the Jedi, things like love and compassion were also considered the 'Dark Side'. Heck, any form of emotional attachment or affection could corrupt a Jedi almost completely. it's as if there own code was driving them slowly mad, cutting them off from the most basic of feelings and attachments. It's no wonder they don't fear death, they don't have life...in a way.

A Sith might have a short life and be killed by his own kind (or his own students) but he also has the chance to fall in love, have children, and also have lifelong friends. A Jedi can not have any of those things, and if they do, they either fall, go mad, or throw the loved one away, and deny there existence *cough Theron Shan cough*.

You can take the Sith code at face value, the pre Skywalker Jedi code however, well, so often I've been told it has to be 'interpreted'.

    I find that interesting.

  3. oh if you knew... the difficulties I'm facing, drawing so much skin! :p

Actually I've been stuck for a whole week on how to draw his shoulders properly; muscles, collar bones, lighting, ...

    UGH! I need a model! ><

Maybe I should leave it be for a while and work on his hair instead... then give you another teaser ^^

    Ohh yes please!

    <3

  4. My Cartel Shop wishlist...

    - More character slots

    - Companion appearance gear

    - 'Traditional' gear for each species

    - More pets

    - More mounts

    - Hungover from the party Jawa

    - 'Appearance' Lightsaber crystals (perhaps ones that pulsed different colours or had some intense effects on them)

    - Game time that can be bought via the store (instead of just using Origin)

...and all of these things can be bought and gifted to other players..please.

  5. Bioware does something = People complain

Bioware does not do something = People complain

Bioware has something in the works = People complain

Bioware is fixing things = People complain

Belive me even if they did make paid character transfers available tomorrow, and gave us all a free transfer token, people would complain.

I mean is it any wonder that most of the SWTOR communication and interaction is done via Facebook ,and twitter? ....gee I wonder why.

  6. You must have missed me informing you why over a million subs are gone from this game since its launch in less than a year. Sorry I didn't clarify.

    ...and?

What's the point? Do you want me to quit too? The last time I checked I was in control of what game I subbed to , and the reasons why.

It's ok to not like a game, that's fine, there are plenty of games I don't like.

However, you can't force a person to hate a game.

  7. Thats because you were paying to play a good MMO (from what i've heard about EQ) vs paying to play this massively over priced money pit trash, that they continue to just sit back and collect on with out talking to its player base, releasing content, or making a game that is remotely engaging past grinding a character to 50.

...did you miss the part where I said I liked TOR?

  8. Whatever happened to just...oh I dunno...playing a game. Even in my EQ years we didn't fret over sub numbers, statistics, or shareholder percentages like this.

We just played the game, we had fun.

I'm going to enjoy TOR for as long as it's here, and hope that it's a for a long long time.

I derive no joy from the closure of an MMO. (CoX...you will be missed)

    :jawa_angel:

  9. So do I...so do I.

I'm sorry for the next bit, but I have to get this off my chest. :(

It just pains me that it seems like this game had a target painted on it's back from the moment it hit the shelves. From players to gaming journalist sites, it seems like so much, too much, is against this game.

It's getting depressing and disheartening hearing the defining cackles of those who are just waiting for things to get really bad, and screeching with glee at even the smallest of mistakes. I'm not talking about normal MMO gripes, I'm talking a concerted effort, a never ending wave of un-needed doom and gloom.

TOR is getting stomped on, over and over again. It's not getting a fair shake, if it ever got one to begin with. It makes me ashamed to call myself a Gamer, or MMO player, seeing how this game is being so unduly reviled.

I wish TOR could be left alone, alone to the people who appreciate it, and who enjoy it....who play it.

  10. This is making me sad.

I want this game to do well, I want TOR to last for a while, forever if it's possible.

I'm not clapping my hands and laughing at all of this, I really like this game.

It just seems like I'm a small unheard voice, against the tide of screaming, salivating, negativity.

...I just want to keep playing.... :(

  11. Does anyone play MMOs for enjoyment anymore? Does anyone play them to have fun?

I feel like it's now all about server populations, units sold versus population, numbers, budgets, the stock market and statistics.

Whatever happened to logging in, and playing the game. I bought TOR because I wanted to play it, not invest in Wall Street.

I can't be the only one. Can I?

  12. Huh?! Please begin at the start of this thread:

"I'd like the dev's give us an outline of why we should stay"

THAT is the topic, and I too would like an outline.

    Why?

    Why do you need one?

I'm being honest here. When you log into TOR, do you smile? Are you thinking bout having fun, finishing a quest, running a flashpoint with friends?

If not then I don't know what to tell you really. I don't spend money on MMOs that no longer make me happy.

TOR makes me happy, and that's why I'm here.

  13. There was a thread the other day about some guy who quit because of all the news and bad press the game had, and felt there was no hope left. But they he saw sense and realised he was and still is having fun playing, both him and wife, so he resubbed.

People really should just calm down and stop with the nonsense. If you like it, play it. If you dont, dont. if you want to like it buy arn't liking it, post some genuine contructive criticisms instead of acting like children.

    This.

I hope someday it stops being 'cool', to hate on TOR. At this point it's, just become absurd.

  14. I was pleasantly surprised to find multiple instances on Belsavis last night. I thought with all of the hype around GW2 planets like Bel would be empty. 3 instances on Bel in the late evening.

Peeps ten to exaggerated a great deal and haters will hate regardless. All is well on my server.

That's one of the biggest issues I see, and really I hope the wild and often insane over exaggerations, go away in time (and that goes for gaming news sites as well).

We'll all be better for it.

  15. I never let sub numbers determine how much I enjoy an MMO.

I'd rather play with a smaller number of loyal players, than fair-weather ill-tempered people who were 'waiting on that other game' and using this one to fill the time.

This game will flourish, when it's full to the brim with people who love it for what it is....and what it will become in the future.

  16. So everyone should be positive because the game still works? lol.

It's still here right? That's a reason to remain positive.

Sorry but thats not enough, and the sub numbers of this game shows that. bioware needs to quit saying and start doing. nd i dont mean content, i mean start fixing what is broken, and what they left out at release.

I never let sub numbers determine my enjoyment of an MMO, and I play some MMOs with very small sub numbers. Sure that means that some content is hard to manage (like raids) but it's fun to play an MMO with a loyal player base, who genuinely love the game.

Let me try and make something perfectly clear.

Just because some players do not like a game, and they decide to un-sub, it does not mean that the game has failed. TOR is not a 'fail' just because some folks don't care for it, or were disappointing with it.

The MMO industry is saturated with choice now a days, and their is room for many different types of games, and for many types of players. it's a tough business now, but variety is what's helping this industry to grow and change.

Is TOR perfect? Of coarse not, no MMO is perfect and to assume so is to set ones self up for constant disappointment. yes it needs some things added, and some fixing, but to me and many others, it's fun and I don't know about you but I spend money on things that I find fun, and if something isn't fun then I don't bother with it anymore.

TOR didn't fail, just like many other MMOs who get the same unfortunate label. As long as someone is subbing and having fun, then it's not a fail.

  17. I play games that I enjoy. I do not play games that I do not enjoy.

I enjoy this game, so I play it. I also comment about it in the forum here, because I like it, and I see a disproportionate level of hyperbole and complaining by people who linger here even though they don't like the game and in many cases don't play the game anymore, yet still have subscriptions active.

If I did not enjoy this game, not only would I not play it, but I would also NOT linger around in the forum complaining about something I don't like.

This is my number one befuddlement, about this whole thing.

I'm in the same boat as you.

I like TOR, sure there are things I want from it, but beside that, I like TOR, and because I like it I spend money on it.

I don't like some other MMOs, some of them I don't like at all (and one i'm mad at), but I don't spend money on them.

    Simple as that. o_O

  18. I think this pretty much sums up the Gamebreaker demographic, the hosts of the show don't play or care for the game, the people that watch the show don't care or play any more either. I remember asking people in the chatroom why bother watching a SWTOR show if you don't like the game "I just watch it because I like watching gbtv"

GBTV may fancy themselves as a gaming news site, but their homepage is covered with GW2 worship articles from head to toe, they've been giving away beta keys, and as far as I know Arenanet only gives betakeys to their partners and fansites, so you can decide which one of those is Gamebreaker.

To watch a show to see someone go through the weekly Q&A, maybe the headlines of the week and throw their 2 cents? no thanks, certainly not from a site that seems to have an agenda to promote other games. I'm sure at least half the people on the panel don't play, They're not fans of the game for sure, it gives the impression that they talk about SWTOR because it's their obligation, not because they like the game and want to talk about it. (and yes I know J. Lowe is from DH, but the head honcho there is Gannon)

I think you can find many other podcasts of people that are actively playing the game, are very passionate and very critical and can share their opinions, experiences and ideas from the point of view of someone that actually plays the game and cares about it.

    All of this ^

    All of it.

And for all of you people saying theyre all negative about swtor. What do they have to be positive about?

The game still works, the servers are still up, and TOR is till here to be enjoyed.

Content will come in time, isn't it enough just to play the game?
