  1. I would have to agree, although I did do the romance, I really did feel that it is like an older experienced man is taking advantage of a young, inexperienced, naive, seeking approval, and vulnerable female who just lost her father and world was seemingly crumbled. I really do need to run it on the Female story to see if I enjoy it even more.

I love my Consular but that is the only regret in the story. They really do need to give another romance option for the JC.

My only thought is that they didn't want it to be too appealing to compel you to go "real Consular" like and not romance at all.

JC with Nadia and JK with Doc have to be the worst two romances, imho.

  2. I only read the first couple posts, so I'm sure it's been mentioned... interrupt that thing he does. Simple as that.

I was fighting him and it was easy mode. WAY too easy. I got him to 5% and was telling my leveling partner "Vivian hits like a *****" and then BOOM 5% cuz I didn't interrupt the last cast he was doing. Finished him off, no big deal, but yes, you have to interrupt that thing.

33 shadow tank with Treek. Gear mostly up to date on both of us.

Good advise but just remember this is a 2 year old post answered and Necroed many times over lol. Way back when there was no Treek.

  3. Sorc has best DPS between those three, Sin and Jug are known more for their tanking and their DPS is a lil behind the Sorc. At least that is my experience from the game and forums... That doesn't mean their not viable just not equal to or better than. I think it is the Lightning tree, (middle) one that produes the best DPS but the Madness tree yields self heals and mobility.

If I am wrong I hope someone can clarify.

  4. I agree with the main points of OP's thread. I just think that a shotgun or vibrosword would fit the Vanguard more than a rifle. I do like the fact that I can fire decnt shots at ppl at range then go back to face tanking whomever is already in front of me. The stockstrike is something that is practiced in the Army (formerly Active) so it is viable to do it but as OP and others have said Bayonet use should DEFINITELY be a move in this Vangaurds repertoire. I would actually think they would've had more than one, like Gut in the tactics tree and possibly one of the main top tier attacks being the same.

Commando just felt awkward to me having to use the canon all the time, especially since it goes through your body if it is a larger one while mounted on your back (bugs me sooo much).

The only negative part for me is that I don't think any of these types of posts will do anything for the Devs, I mean do they actually look at these and say, good idea lets rework the class to be able to use scatterguns, vibroswords and such or do they just say, "look another one, see I told ya" and go back to business as usual. I have really only seen them try to adjust the mechanics to work better at how the dps, tanking, healing works but not things like this.

    Might just be me...

  5. This has actually forced me to not use some of the items I got through packs and such. I haven't really noticed the part about it going through when firing but the fact that is goes through my back in cut scenes and such bugs me to no end. Just like the Cathar Warblade with certain species like Twi'leks, the Lekku going through the blade makes think she wanted to cut it off. So frustrating...
  6. I did not like the prequels much due to how it spoiled the mystery of Vader.

The interesting thing about why you didn't like the original is kinda why Lucas made them. In an interview he acknowledged that he never really intended Vader to be considered the Ultimate Evil, that was always the Emporer. His intent for Vader was a Jedi who was manipulated and turned while maintaining some connection to the light (Padme and such). When you watch all of them, you realize the series really is about the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. The only one that doesn't fit this by itself is Episode 4 all the others shows this constant battle with Anakin/Vader.

I actually very much enjoyed them all, they all had things that could've been done differently and I would've focused more on different aspects of Anakins life but over all I think they all add a solid piece to the series, in their own way.

  7. Come to think of it , I dont recall learning anything from either my Jedi or Sith Masters....dem lazy bums!

I just think it is hilarious that my Jedis always say (or at least have the option to say) something along the lines that I am only the Jedi I am because of your teaching or some such. Acting like we actually learned something from them. I always think of Episode 1 where Obi-Wan is with Qio-Gon and that we should always have our Master there at first then once the time comes their gone, maybe like Sataele and Obi-wan and have them die at the hands of the Sith around the time we become a Jedi.

Although that does happen with the Jedi Knight eventually, there is no real effect they, the Masters that is, have on the Jedi himself.

  8. On the bright side, we know for sure that Scrapper will get fixed in the next 3,800 years. As Han Solo demonstrates how epic we are. So we're looking at what maybe 25,000 patches max before we get our balance update?

Oh wait, Solo was probably a dirty fighter...

    SON OF A HUTT!

Technically it was a long time ago in a galaxy far far awy so it has taken this long to nerf what Han lifted up :)

  9. I actually liked the vocal delivery for the female Consular. But then people tell me I sound like Daria, so.

Yeah, I would say I have no problem with any of the voice overs. I cant say I particularly like or dislike any of them.

I enjoyed the JC story and am likely going to enjoy it when I roll a Shadow,. next time through.

  10. i just reached level 51 and i am a jedi sentinel but i went dark side and after killing the emeror i still did not receive Master title...

As far as I know you have to go LS, ending basically says that in cut scene...

  11. I leveled as a tank and had no problems what so ever. The issue with Sent's is you just have to know how to annihalate the enemy quickly. DPS was never really a problem for me and I did use the Vig tree once to see if I liked it but I preferred the Defense tree personally. In FP's and such, as others have stated, Tanks are always needed and so you'll always get a quick qeue. DPS is a dime a dozen. I personally enjoyed both Stories the same Knight/Consular but many ppl like the speed and action of the Knight.

As you lvl, Gear towards whatev you want DPS or tank and just keep two sets of gear, if you want, one focused on Tank and one on DPS, if you are a sub you can respec whenever you want so that makes life easier. I know ppl who say they have geared for lvling as a DPS and still used the Defense tree so it wasn't much of an issue. If you have a healer Comp, it will flow pretty easily. I used Kira until I got Doc and the few times I got in trouble before Doc, were all but eliminated afterwards. Gearing for what you plan on doing in end game is what matters, while leveling you have more freedom.

As a side note, in the story- cut scenes, your Jedi will always remove one saber, regardless of the AC, making it seem more accurate to be a Guardian. Doesn't sound like much but some ppl can be rather bothered by such details :).

  12. I definitely got the derogatory part down and with smash makes sense with the Sith side being identified. Since I have little experience with Emp side. But to answer the OP, I am a Guardian Tank and that will never change. I am lvling now for the first time through story currently lvl 41 and I know there will be changes coming but I am a tank all the way. I will eventually lvl a Sent too but for now I won't be changing my Guardian. Never much liked the Focus tree. I am interested in seeing the difference after these changes but I don't PVP and I have heard some say that it is where these changes would effect the most, not sure.

Adapt and overcome, motto for life :).

  13. This post above me is very complete and amazing, you rock!

I'd like to go in a bit deeper on Biochem and Cybertech assuming you didn't realise they're useful for every class, not tech/force user bound, if that's not the case, please stop reading. :)

Cybertech is my favourite crewskill in keeping my companions and myself geared up. It offers every mainstat (wonderful if you'd like someone else than Scourge or Kira at your side) in Armorings, Mods and Earpieces. Which make up a big chunk of your equipment.

I have a 55 that does this with Cybertech. He is basically the sugar daddy for armoring and mods for all my other classes while lvling. I noticed right away that planetary commendations used to be always going away because of hilts armoring, but with blue armoring no longer an issue I have plenty for other things, I buy weapons that can be modded to either take apart for what's inside or just buy enhancements. Makes like so much easier.

  14. In functional terms how would a Sith Trooper be different from a Bounty Hunter/Republic Trooper? The Bounty Hunter is already the Imperial counterpart to the Trooper, and BW would not create a whole storyline just to duplicate an existing class' role.

That means the Sith Trooper would have to be something more than Bounty Hunter with a new storyline and look to justify the work. And then the Republic side would have to get a version of whatever the new Sith Trooper would bring to the game for their side, complete with storyline, to maintain parity. So, barring the addition of a neutral class, which a Sith Trooper obviously would not be, adding a new class would automatically mean adding two classes to the game.

very good points, do you think there will ever be new claases?

I just don't see it happening. Would be cool though...

  15. What's a Sith Trooper when it's at home?

And no, there won't. There won't be any new classes. I'll bet money on it. New classes would mean a whole new 1-50 storyline. Ain't gonna happen.

Agreed, too much work to make new stories and such. I am just hoping for a 4th class chapter story, would be great eventually to see. Either way, new classes would be cool but not gonna happen.

  16. I think this is the important thing. In lore though, dual wielding a lightsaber was considered extremely difficult since it requires double the focus of wielding one, which was already considered a feat only made practical through the force. Someone who could dual wield proficiently and regularly was rare, though it wasn't so rare to do so sporadically for a limited amount of time like in the examples above.

That, and Sentinels in SWTOR are dedicated to their weapon, that's where most of their skills lie, manipulation of their lightsabers, wheras the other Jedi/Sith classes have higher degrees of force use. It's the focus of their skills, the theme and the lore behind wielding dual sabers that makes them the masters. It takes more skill to use a saber in each hand than it does one saber in two hands, just to keep the force user from killing themselves.

Although I agree with everything you said. I take it a step further with live combat. I am by no means an expert but I have trained in the past with different forms of weapons; swords, nunchucks, staffs, etc and dual wielding is the pure offense/defense form. Having a blade in each hand is extremely difficult to control effectively in comparison to one, like you said in lightsaber form it exemplifies it even more so. Dual wielding takes control, focus, training, instinct, and awareness of virtually everything going on around you. Very dangerous to perfect and use aggressively.

My only gripe in the gaming sense is that dual wielding can be used defensive too, one blade always used for blocking, parrying, etc while the other one is being used aggressively. I just wish they considered this in the tree design. Just the type of defense may actually cause damage also.

  17. Well I think the Doc situation is considered Dark side just because of his torrid past, you would be entering a romantic relationship with a known womanizer and if Doc dumped the Female JK at the altar like he had done in the past with other women, the relationship would have simply been one of passion and not love. The female JK knows this is a major risk to their relationship, which is why willingly following a romance of passion is Dark Side. The other mentioned romances you find out that Kira, Grell, and the Luitennent are extremely loyal and devoted partners, and the romance is without a doubt true love.

That pretty much summed up my thoughts perfectly. I haven't experienced them all directly but I don't mind spoilers, in fact I base part of my choices of what to play on them, watching youtube videos to see if the path is worth doing. I don't want to go through half the story to find out I hate the person I was about to "romance" only to want to delete and reroll (which is something I am reknowned for).

When watching the romances, although I know it doesn't capture the full story, Doc's seemed downright detestable. Why the JK would even want to be with the "scum of the earth" type that he reprsents himself to be. The whole twi'lek at the alter holocall was enough for me to know that this just ain't right.

I have to admit though, Nadia seems a bit far stretched for me. I think it might have been better with more time between the death of daddy and the man of her dreams, after all she appears to be a young girl, early 20's at best and you are her master who "consoles" her in her loss and falls in love... based on her comments in game fighting and crew skill quests, she just appears insecure, young, and seeking of your approval. It just feels like she sees you as a replacement for her dad and then you romance her... Something just seems off to me. She is the one I did the full story through as my Sage is the only 55 I have.

I just think they could have made more options for romance for the Jedi, having it be student master relationships that go too far is too limiting. I plan on running out some of the romances that seem okay to get a better impression of them but some (like Doc) just becomes obvious on why it is DS and having him be the only Romance/marriage one is just too much for my taste. More options in this game would be better.
