  1. During 5.0 this was true. Since 6.0, they have monster burst, and they are doing about 1.5X too much DPS.

    TL;DR

    PT DPS are definitely over-performing.

Totally agree. I left the game for years. Came back during 5.0 and was really satisfied with the PVP. After 6.0 every single match has been one sided, my team either wins by huge margins or loses by huge margins. I also see players who have no stealth abilities appearing in front of balls and doors out of nowhere. My connection was fine. Maybe it was there's.

  2. Which is fine imo. Burst is burst and honestly I think all the burst specs should have similar burst given the general TTK in this game is waaaaay too high with literally the exception of VG's who are glass cannons which is why I say they are the most balanced.

So in other words you're saying u want to kill as fast as possible and WZ's should go as fast as possible. So you really want to just get the match over with?

  3. At best i think there should be a voting screen for which warzone to play once all players are queued for a match, aside from that, I'm against being able to filter out certain warzones as it can and will slow down the queue's and certain group compositions will only queue for one type of warzone. As much as I hate warzones like CW and huttball, the current random warzone selection is good because it keeps variety in the games instead of just doing the same ones over and over again.

I don't like being able to choose warzones but voting would be fun if it was randomized. I mean I don't want to play the same new warzone all day either. When a new one would come out everyone would vote for that for like two weeks straight. But voting is good. But I love huttball. If this ruined huttball I would cry.

  4. So I've been playing this game since the start and it takes an obsessive amount of time. Nobody I know could keep up with this game and play any other video game unless you had no job etc. Which is fine. We all go through these life quirks. But for EA or Bioware to think that it's intelligent to try to be the only video game anyone ever plays is ridiculous and is essentially the flaw of every MMO. MMO's are great. It's fun to keep coming back. But to keep coming back and to have to play the game at cult like status all the time to get back to the "top" is ridiculous.

Since inception of SWTOR PvP has been unbalanced. MMO's always struggle with this. From cheating, to bots, to nerfs by the devs. Something is always wrong. Enter releasing Elite Ware Hero all at once. Ultimate failure.

I thought it was great how they only released a couple pieces of armor a couple months back. This game those who had their credits stacked a chance to once again be at the "top". That's cool. It took everyone else a decent amount of time to catch up. But now with what...12 more pieces of gear and a Mod for each one it will take people who do other things in life but play games..months upon months to catch back up.

    This makes me angry for two reasons;

1.) I was already enjoying playing my other "toons". It was very exciting. Now I have to stop that for months...just to get my main character back to where they should be. I feel this is wrong. I'm experiencing new parts of the game and love it...but have to quit because my main character is my priority. At this rate I will never have another lv50 toon. BW should have released the gear slowly with new updates to keep players from getting bored and from feeling overwhelmed.

2.) NOW PVP MAY BE UNFAIR again. It's starting to feel ridiculously unbalanced and people seem to be getting more upset. So where we could have hundreds of new players and old players coming together for very balanced and fun PVP. Now we have power hungry or professional gamers, in all their might, killing everyone and forcing EA to drop below NASDAQ 100 status :). Collusion always fails.

Oh well.. thanks for once again being greedy.

  5. Some great stuff. Your suggestions are good.

I think the PvP in this game is great but I do recognize that there might be a way to bring balance. Yet you are forgetting about rewarding those on top. There will always be superior players because BW has to reward them for being superior or they would just leave, including myself.

A great example is Guildwars 2. Everyone has all their abilities right away and it's extremely boring. At least for me. So balancing everything? No. But fixing stuns. yes. Just don't nerf my Shadow in the process which I'm sure will happen.

My personal suggestion is to trade a percentage of doable stuns for a more unique ability that limits the characters in a more unique way...like trading energy as was mentioned.

  6. This is I think where the big mis-understanding with the resolve system (as currently implemented by TOR) comes from. People read through these guides, spot that one sentance, take it out of context and come to basically the wrong conclusion about what resolve is and how it works, then when it doesn't work the way they expect they complain that is must be broken.

Based on my observations from numerous WZs both as a the player getting stunned and the player doing the stunning I have noticed the following. Having a 100% full Resolve Bar does not on it's own grant you immunity from being CC'd  You only get that immunity AFTER you use your CC Breaker. So if your Resolve Bar is full but your CC Breaker is still stuck on Cooldown, Resolve will do nothing for you. Most of the players who complain in threads all over this site about "Resolve being Broken, please fix" are under the mistaken belief that a full Resolve Bar automatically stops you being stunned, sorry boys and girls it doesn't :p

The problem mainly arises because most players have 2 or 3 CC's with cooldowns ranging between 30 & 60 seconds while they only have 1 CC Breaker with a 2 minute cooldown.

The solution (without drastically changing the game mechanics) put a buff on all players in WZs that drops the CC Breaker Cooldown to 30 seconds, but as a trade off have resolve fill more slowly (3 to 4 stuns), that way you can still stun someone but not take advantage of 2 man stun rotations to stunlock some poor muppet to death, which at best I would call unsporting at worst (if it is done maliciously) I would call greifing

I think some people need to read this.

  7. I completely agree with both the OP and Belly. There should be a medal for damage taken and there should be a category for damage taken in the Warzone Ending Splash Screen.

I'd also say there should be a, "Most Damage Mitigated," option that only applies for damage that was NOT taken due to the use of a player activated ability (so nothing that's passive), except that damage mitigated through use of "Guard," should also apply (since the player not only has to activate the power on someone else, but also stay within a certain range of that player).

But even though I mainly play DPS classes, tanks should get some love in PvP as well.

Well said. I didn't want to get in to this, but you said it for me so thanks.

Damage mitigated might be a better way to go. I checked the stats on damage taken and it doesn't really help. The question is about mitigation. When the in game combat log shows damage taken is that before or after it's mitigated? Does anyone know?

  8. My Shadow is pure tank specced (no force in balance), but I just wear dps gear, recruit infact, but it gets a silly amount of medals without even trying, too many medals really for the work that's involved.

Damage taken against a team doing it right, will probably always be maxxed on a healer anyway, so you'd not be shining there, and cc's taken would also go to healers.

You're doing yourself no favours by being fully Survivor geared, I'm sure you stay alive long but, in the PuG warzones, the thing that makes me lose the most is that people just cannot output adequate damage, obviously damage isn't everything, and in Huttball the winning team isn't necessarily the one with the most damage, but it often is the deciding factor in the other Warzones.

As it stands, you will be able to get the 8 medals required with ease, and I'm not sure why you're asking for anything else. As I said, damage taken is already displayed.

Yeah I agree, though I think healers should get more praise, this doesn't benefit me. I just played with a couple DPS tanks and they still get way more damage taken than me. I've considered trying to get a refund on my gear before, maybe that's what I'll have to do. It's almost a pure lie, you do not survive at all. I have researched this greatly and I thought this would help. I like the idea of lasting longer, and of Survivor Gear, and I like how my toon is atm but the thing is I could be better, and I could be helping my teams even more. I guess this was a shot in the dark. Sorry all!

  9. As a tank you already get the most medals, why do you need more?

Also, if you hover your mouse over deaths, it already shows how much damage you've taken.

Because DPS tanks can also guard (they usually blame it on this but it can be equally blamed on the fact that they can get extra damage medals).

So it's not tanks who get the most medals it's DPS tanks. I'm not a DPS tank that just it! That's what I'm trying to tell everyone we are a minority and our class has been screwed up because of them since the beg.

Either way if you don't want the medals I understand, that's messy. But would you be for the damage taken? Or like another poster mentioned a display of the amount of time CC'd?

And if you can hoover over it for damage taken (which I did not know). Than how hard would it be to included it in the window? It can't be that hard to code if it's already there.

  10. I'm a Survivor gear based shadow, and though I like my character a great deal, I feel like we are a minority and we are also treated unfairly.

If you're a DPS shadow> more protection, more damage,+ you last just as long as a tank (but don't take as much damage. This is because you're killing so many people that you stay alive just as long in most situations).

If you're a TANK shadow (survivor gear) you> last longer. that's it.

It's completely unfair that the entirety of our ability, which is taking damage, is not listed on the final Warzone screen.

If we could get a medal for the amount of damage we take, or at least have it displayed on the final Warzone Log that would help us out immensely!

I understand if you don't agree with the medal. But would it take much work to display our damage? It's the least you could do.

    Thanks!

  11. It's probably better to just focus on improving rather than trying to reason that anyone playing well is using a cheat.

Good players get accused of cheating or hacking all the time, and in every instance I have witnessed it, it's because of lack of understanding of game mechanics.

There's only one instance of hacking that has been proven to exist, and that's speed hacking - plenty of videos on youtube for you to look up. But it's painfully obvious to see and the offender gets banned very quickly. But everything else I have seen is just attributed to the losing players not understanding the capabilities of their opponents' classes.

Here's all the things I've seen people get accused of as "hacking":

"Master Strike" twice in a row - Vigilance/Vengeance Guardians/Juggs can reset the cooldown on their Master Strike with a high level talent.

"Smuggler/Operative healer can not be leapt to" - healing from Cover - just crouching in place.

"Entire team is moving really fast" - Predation/Transcendence

"Immune to abilities" - Force Shroud/Resilience. "Immune to abilities more often than he should!" - Tanking tree has a talent to lower the cooldown of this ability when successfully defending attacks

"Cannot be grappled/Force Pulled" - If you have good intuition and fast reflexes and are standing near a line-of-sight breaker you can very often cause a grapple to fail by stepping behind LoS very quickly. It will bounce you into the wall a bit but you won't be pulled.

"Commando/Mercenary healer immune to interrupts" - Check the talent in the Bodyguard/Combat Medic tree where your shield makes you immune to interrupts and pushback. I get accused of this all the time.

"Commando/Mercenary healer instantly healed himself from zero to full" - The same shield has a +20% healing received talent. With good gear, my Rapid Scan can crit myself for 6k to 7k. Warzone medpacs are also amplified by this, so using both at the same time can give the appearance of healing to full. I get accused of this all the time.

I see one thing in common with all the accusers. They're too short-sighted to improve their own gameplay - after months of playing with and against them in PuG warzones they never become better - they only become angrier and trash talk more and more. I have tried calmly whispering to them after the match the mechanics of the abilities in question, and most of the time I get an ignore and a message along the lines of "Why are you telling me this, feeling guilty? Don't want me to report you?".

So if you play with a good attitude and don't assume everything is a cheat, you'll get better. I the same people who accused me of being immune to interrupts with a "hack" are still repeatedly trying to use their interrupt on me while I have my shield up on my Merc healer. They keep doing the same mistake over and over without stopping to question that it could be an actual game mechanic.

If cheating doesn't exist why is there an option on Bioware's phone system for "my system has been hacked"? If people are going around stealing other peoples accounts than they are also cheating in game. It's a well known fact cheaters hoover around the blogs trying to spread the myth that it doesn't exist. Evidence is on the phone lines.

*Again it should be noted that this is about PVP, and also that since the new WAR HERO ELITE gear these damage numbers will become more realistic and that my original post title containing"5000" should probably be moved up to "8000" to be fair.

  12. As the OP I just wanted to bring some clarity to this thread.

I was speaking of high level PVP not PVE.

*It should be noted that a majority of the people who hit 500,000+ damage have pocket healers....bots/friend/wife/husband. LoL. On average I don't see over 400,000...I only see 500+ every once and a while (and I play a lot) so it has to be some kind of rarity. I have only seen 700,000 or even 600,000+ maybe once every couple months in PVP.

  13. I'm curious about all this as well. My situtation is a little diff in that I put my BM set in other clothing. Now I took all the mods/enhance/armor out cause I want to keep the clothing shell.

Vendor wouldn't let me trade up for WH...so now what do I do? Do I put it back into something crappy just to have to take it back out again? I really hope I don't need the original BM shell.

    Help.

  14. I still love to play PvP even though I am gimped. Haven't lost much interest, I actually want to try some new characters and some new FP's.

I do get mad about all these "nerf's" though, if anything would make me leave it's them.

  15. So I noticed there are tons of criticisms on the blogs lately. I'm quick to critique as well. I look at it as help, but I know it doesn't always come off that way and that it's hard to take.

So I wanted to create a supportive thread directed at Bio Ware.

All I want to say is that I have a lot of hope for this game. I think it's great. I think this is one of the best games I have played. I currently play no other games except for this.

I think the graphics, game play, PvP, and the ideas in general are all done very well.

I really haven't played GW2 much. I came back to this.

Kinks happen, but you can't create a massive game like an MMO without them, it would take forever to complete.

I mean where is The Last Guardian (Team Ico)? Good games take forever. In this case it's an MMO so it's a work in progress. Flaws will come and go, that's just how it works for an MMO.

So I have a lot of hope for this game, I believe with the right adjustments it can last a long time.

Keep up the hard work, and nice job!

  16. This is by no means a nerf or QQ thread, I'm looking for input on how to counter something I've come across tonight - teams of Shadow Tanks. I had a civil war warzone earlier tonight that had five shadow tanks, and I'm fairly certain they rarely died. It got to the point where everytime one was being attacked, another would unstealth, stun/mez and they would all be healed back to full.

Any suggestions on how to counter a team primarily composed of shadow tanks with a few healers? Operatives are easy enough to counter, because once they are out of stealth, you can down them quickly enough to turn the tide. These guys would take a beating, then stealth away only to return back at full, all the while my whole team is getting stunned and mezzed repeatedly and taken down.

And no - its not even a matter of focus-firing. In these cases, if we focus the healers, we die too fast. If we focus the dps/tank, they never seem to go down and we essentially die just as fast.

This was one of the very few times in a warzone that I honestly felt it wasn't a skill gap or a gear gap, but simple team composition that won the day.

You have to be more clear, someone can be a shadow and be in survivor gear, or dps gear, or a combo shield with dps gear. So don't throw us all in to the same pot of stew. There are also scoundrels who are just that, not shadows.

I'm a Survivor Shadow in all War Hero and I have been posting endless blogs about how squishy I am, especially as of late. It has always been know that Survivor gear is questionable. It's my job to last, I don't last and I can't do much damage.

You were probably fighting DPS/SHIELDED DPS shadows. These people make my life tough too, in game of course, lol. They are the reason my character sucks. They keep getting nerfed, yet I need the opposite. I am supposed to survive they are supposed to do damage, so they nerf them and I get nerfed in turn. Anyway...it all comes down to the gear.

Anytime you face an unequal number of opponents you have to call for help, and specify if you need 1 or 2 etc. As soon as the shadow/scoundrel get's you, you have to stop what you are doing and call out (type in chat). I talk constantly while I'm fighting, though it's not good it's very easy. I usually just stun them or let them hit me too. Than you have to stall until someone get's there. Don't try to take on everyone by your self. Best thing to do is wait for reinforcements. I always make sure we have one more than they do, unless it's a large group.

Also remember when you go to the turret, that's how you draw them out. I specifically go right to the turret to draw them out, than I stun them.

Well good luck. I hope this helps you out.

  17. NVidia GeForce GT220, and I have never had problems with any update, but I only run it on moderate settings.

Personally I think the game looks a lot better on lower settings now. Good job Bio Ware!

Has anyone ever had any problems with darkness though? I feel after the last two updates I have to make the game brighter manually, I don't remember having to do this ever before.

  18. I know this has been posted a lot over the past year, but everyone knows that my opinion will be SO different than everyone else's and is so vitally important and unique, that it requires its own thread. :p

All kidding aside, I've spending a lot of time playing DCUO lately as that has become my other main MMO along with SWTOR. And there's a couple things about that game that really jumped out at me.

First, the game world. It feels alive and vibrant. You never feel like you're alone in a vast emptiness. Even when there's nothing but NPCs and mobs around, the world itself feels like it's actually living. What helps in this department is that you CONSTANTLY see other players around. DCUO only has one large PvE server and one large PvP server for both PC and the PS3. So, all the player activity really puts things over the top, in my opinion.

Secondly, DCUO is just a really fun and cool game. But that's beside the point. I love SWTOR as well. But doing missions in that other iconic universe made me think of this one, and how often times I feel like I'm in a ghost town while out questing.

The worlds in SWTOR feel empty. They are devoid of player activity and even the mobs seem bored out of their minds, begging for you to come kill them so as to put them out of their dull misery.

I'm not sure what can be done about this. I had the same feeling playing WAR a few years ago. The game world is just really boring.

Any ideas on how BW can improve this?

I just talked about this on another post. Part of the problem is our worlds are huge. Why do you think Black Hole is in a small secluded area.

Are the worlds a bit smaller in DCUO?

Everyone wants these "huge" worlds but "huge" is a perception. I would rather have quality over quantity. More people around, more secrets, more missions, more interactive elements.

I would take all that over a world that I get lost in, have to wait forever for friends to get to a location in, or that I look around for secrets and never find anything in.

It's perception. Black Hole feels very alive cause it's small, and their are more interesting missons.
