  1. I went back to playing lower level PVP and it was actually fun. With the bolster it was more fair with closer to 50% win rate. Tonight I did play some lvl 70 pvp to grind some xp and lost every match. For lvl 70 PVP and 3 tiers of armor with some players having gear ranked 220 to 230 or less and others with up to rank 242 gear, IT IS NOT FAIR AND SKILL IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

When will some of you get the common sense that playing lvl 70 PVP most often pits average geared players verse overpowered Imps with xtreme gear. Most matches are like a lvl 20 player verse a lvl 40 player with little chance to win. FACT - Repubs lvl 70 PVP win rate is below 25% . NOT FUN.

(If all you play is Imp side PVP then you don't know JACK. :) )

SOLUTION: - Unranked level 70 PVP matches should be leveled out like those below lvl 70

    - Ranked battles should stay as they are.

Lower level PVP and the rest of the game ROCKS!

(not sure I understand how bolster works)

  2. Mianera - Thanks for taking the time to respond the way you did.

One thing you said was "- ARE YOU IN FULL 242 AUGMENTED GEAR?"

I started playing lvl 70 PVP a month and a half ago with limited daily time to play. My CXP level is now 52.

The best gear I can get right now is rank 230 augmented gear. How do you get lvl 242 gear without grinding forever, or paying 40 million + credits on the GTN? I don't have time to play tons of nightmare mode missions to get top schematics. And even then you have to pay millions for crafting material.

Do I have to go to a spammer and buy credits?

  3. I've seen reps like you. Blamed me for hacking because I was moving fast with predation lol. You guys are just bad at pvp that's all. You rarely win wz, in ranked you are considered free +2. Reality is that you are just bad at pvp as a faction.

I knew you would say that :)

It's just a game so nothing personal, but looking at your avatar I assume you are a Imp player and of course you would defend PVP the way it is because you play on the side that wins 85% of the time. Why would you want it to be balanced?

I am not a bad player. Not great but not bad. Good armor, but not the best. My gear is all augmented with ratings of 228-232. So I know I am not the cause, on a 8 player team, to lose 85% of the time. Note that I am talking about regular PVP not ranked.

As a healer and in general I try to play to the objectives. First to heal my teammates, but if an enemy is close to death I will throw in some attacks to help him drop quicker before a chance to heal up. I would rather have less heals and a win. However, there are times when I am on a bad team that is not working together. They run all over in different directions and when I try to get to them to heal them I get jumped by 2 or 3 imps and no one comes to help me and then they complain I'm not healing. This does not happen a lot but enough.

The main thing (outside of hacking if there is) is that it seems Imps have more buffs and tricks up their sleeves. I also agree that a lot more serious Star Wars geeks gravitate to the Imp side. Cooler looking outfits and powers. While Sorcs cast cool lighting, I throw a pile of pebbles. I do want to take a Imp character to top level eventually. However, I have played so much Rep side that as a Imp I feel bad for winning. LOL.

--- Lastly, in this overly long comment (sorry). I challenge you to play 50 rounds as a LVL 70 Repub, non ranked PVP. Be honest and report back here your win rate.

When it is fair, win or lose, it is fun.

  4. Companies like BW are reluctant to ban cheaters / hackers / exploiters because of the almighty dollar. These players are subs, and banning an account loses money.

This is unfortunate, as I believe subs would increase if cheaters were banned.

And not just the account, ban the IP address so they can't just create a new account and cheat some more.

Cheating should NEVER be tolerated. Ever.

I have finally given up on reporting 2 bots on Bergeron Colony server who are exploiting slicing nodes in the PVP section of Yavin 4. These 2 Sith Assasins are there 24/7/365. And they send comps to gather from halfway across the map, from stealth, and can even make themselves un-targetable for PvP, so I can't even farm them!

Not only have I reported them numerous times to CS, but I have even sent a PM to Eric with all the pertinent details, including their names.

And you know what? You can log into Bergeron Colony at any hour, of any day, and /who Yavin 4, and see the same 2 Assasins exploiting those slicing nodes! They've divided the map evenly between them, for complete coverage of the best nodes.

It sickens me to think of how many BILLIONS of credits these 2 bots have accumulated over time.

Sounds like pro-hackers that then spam for real $.

  5. Pubs,

... Forreal, it's imbalanced because of stupidity and nothing else.

So most of the Rep side players are stupid, while most of the Imp side are smart, right? If so should I just switch to the Imp side?

  6. I have the same experience and opinion. After over 50 rounds of PVP the REP win rate is about 20%.

IMP side is way overpowered. NOT FUN!

(I comment more in another thread.)

  7. Other than PVP the game is amazing and the new Eternal Throne story was AWESOME!

After a year away from this game I come back and play over 50 rounds of PVP.

    (lvl 70, good gear)

Rep win rate is about 20%

Sure sometime you get on a bad pub team, but MOST of the time Reps get slaughtered.

Sometimes I am suspicious of hackers but never can tell for sure.

Often two or three Reps cant take down a single Imp. OFTEN!

You may have excuses or reasons but it won't change my opinion and experience.

The only reason I grind PVP is for the rewards.

I like fair PVP, and don't cry over a fair loss. I wouldn't complain if the win rate was closer to between 40% - 50%.

Fun PVP would keep me as a Sub but there are other games out there that have way better PVP that I am thinking about.

  8. I am on the side of the OP

I try to play the PVP daily and weekly, LVL 70 pub from the REP side. I have OK gear but not the best.

After about 50 rounds the REPs win only about 20%.

Obviously you can sometimes just get on a bad pub team, but COME ON!!!

I see often when two or three Reps can't take down one I'mp.

A combination of two things are going on - HACKING and Overpowered Imp.

That's my PVP experience and it is not fun at all. The only reason I play PVP is for the rewards.

    PVP NOT FUN!

  9. I have played 30 rounds of LVL 70 pub PVP at random times the last week, on the REP side.

    Only 4 wins.

One of three things going on here; The IMP side has way better players, or they're "Overpowered", or there is a lot of hacking going on. Its possible combination of all three. I have seen some things that for sure look like hacks.

I normally like PVP and expect to get a good share of losses in pub, but THIS IS NOT FUN ANYMORE.

YOU STUPID HACKERS RUIN THE GAME.

  10. Most players who prefer PVP don't do it for some gear reward but for the thrill of the competition, against human players.

In other games such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, World of Tanks, Champions, players can earn medals, uniform customizations, ranks etc.

What do you think would be good rewards for dedicated PVPers? (other than being forced to grind to the next new level of PVP gear)

    My first ideas:

    - unlocks for different gear/outfits of the same stats to choose from, maybe even customizable.

    - non gear related medals for achievements or milestones, that can be easily shown off to other players.

  11. There are two types of video game players:

    1- PVE story line players

    2- PVP competitive players

Some like a little of both, but those that prefer one over the other play a game for different reasons. Trying to mix the same gear ideas for both PVP and PVE are like mixing oil and water for many players.

There are two kinds of video game PVP styles:

1- Grind for gear/stats = huge gaps between veteran players and new ones, making it hard for new players to contribute to a team for a long time. Losing a lot, for a long time, and/or not being valuable to a team is discouraging and causes many player to give up. Especially if one does not have the time to daily grind.

2- Skill and Strategy with unlocks. Call of Duty, Battlefield, World of Tanks are games that don't take a long time to get good equipment and be competitive, and have fun.

Both can be fun for different people but here is the thing; PVE has to have a good story and "rewards ahead" to keep most interested (like KOTR). BUT most players who prefer PVP don't do it for some gear reward but for the thrill of the competition.

As a PVPer the ONLY reason I grind gear is so I could be competitive, and THEN I would actually start having fun.

MY VOTE: no more PVP gear grind

(besides, all the threads about how to gear up will be obsolete)

  12. I just came back and subed after being gone a year and started working on Conqueror gear and that is worthless now.

I like PVP in several different games and I like strategy and skill to win more than who has grinded out to get top gear ( and min/maxed everything) which leaves a HUGE gap in stats between new or less active players and top geared players = not fun for the casual player who gets stomped and feels worthless in most matches. 1v1 when another player has 40% more health and absorbs 80% of your damage you don't have a chance.

Looks like some are ok with it but its just not my thing.

WHY does much of the next level up gear have so many negative stats? (One stat goes up a bit and another goes down.)

    What's my motivation to stay?

When is SW Battlefront 3 coming out?

  13. OK, I read most of that thread and some of it helps but it was really long and some was confusing with all the abbreviations. This is also the first time I have heard of bolstering. What is that?

Level 50 PVP had battlemaster and War Hero. What do I need now?

Where do I start with my level 55 Sentinel?

What kind of coms do I need most?

  14. I am back to SWTOR after being gone for a year. When I left the top was level 50. As a Sentinel I had pretty good level 50 PVP gear, even min maxed some. But now I could use a quick run down on the level 55 stuff; What's the top LVL PVP gear, and what mods do I need as a Sent for expertise and damage? Thanks
  15. I looked over all the recent patch notes and I don't see anywhere that it talks about PVP gear changes;

    - removal of battlemaster gear

    - added Elite War Hero gear (was just a few items Elite, now everything can go Eilte)

    - gear cost changes

    - gear being sold by different venders

Q - Since there has been complaints about lvl50 PVP, are the gear changes a effort to bring a balance?

  16. The missions themselves are as good as any. Just getting to the them with mobs packed so tight makes the dailes take too long. As a sent with rank 3 speeder I get knocked off EVERY time and often, as others have said, get jumped by 2 groups of mobs.

I did notice that my companion comes back with more cash from dropped trash items.
