  1. Arguing about what the Vong did, or whether Sith or jedi are good or evil based on our real life world is pointless and it seems like that's what is going on here to some extent. Morality or good vs. evil is dictated by the creator, in our world it was God, in the SW universe it was George Lucas.

If something like what the Vong did happened in our world it would undeniably be considered morally wrong and evil because we have a standard set in stone (literally, haha...ok the ten commandments joke is not that funny).

It's also not really accurate to just say it's all about one's viewpoint either. A whole culture/group of people may be living a certain way and it may seem normal to them but that doesn't automatically make what they are doing correct. If we all of a sudden discovered an entire nation of cannibalistic people in our world who constantly back-stabbed each other and tortured and killed children, it may be a part of normal life for them but that doesn't make what they are doing any less wrong or morally evil. For the Vong culture, just because it is how they've always remembered living doesn't automatically mean they are not evil, it just comes down to my point in the next paragraph.

For the answer to all this we need to look to GL for that standard, what does he say to be good and what does he say to be evil, or does he say it's all relative and there is no good or evil. The Jedi, Sith, Vong can't be measured by our real world standards because they don't exist here, they exist in a galaxy completely created and controlled by GL. Nobody can win a debate here by presenting viewpoints based on real world morality when the universe in question runs by different rules by a different creator.

  2. It made Palpatine dumber (or at least it seemed to in my opinion), No, Nooo! is now forever the canon exchange of words during that epic battle. I would like to think that Palpatine was smart enough to turn around and zap Vader when he started uttering No, when you are shocking someone's kid and they say no it means they disagree with you and you don't want Vader disagreeing with you. The utterance of those two no's took away all suspence.

One could argue that Palpatine was too engrossed in torturing Luke to notice Vader, but yes you'd think with how powerful and smart he was he'd be paying more attention to Vader. I think you hit it right on with the suspense comment. While it wasn't a huge story change it was a major atmosphere change that made a big difference in the experience of watching the scene. I like to collect the different editions of movies but I'm still happiest when watching the original release versions.

  3. Vader screaming no wasn't actually a major theme change. From the perspective of the actual story it wasn't really much of a noticeable change at all, he still threw Palps down the shaft. It was a highly annoying change and one that wasn't necessary, but it didn't change the story.
  4. I have kind of a love/hate relationship with KT books...

On one hand I love the Mando books she's written (Hard Contact - True Colors, and Order 66), I have this kind of separate mental sandbox of the Star Wars universe where her super soldier commandos can exist when I read those books and can enjoy them. The rest of her Star Wars books I don't really like, and especially hate the killing of Mara Jade and how that was handled.

On the opposite end of the spectrum for best SW authors, I have to agree, my top three are Timothy Zahn, Michael A. Stackpole, and Aaron Allston.

  5. The best Bounty Hunter will beat the best Trooper, but the typical Trooper will beat the typical Bounty Hunter.

    I'm with this guy ------^

I think if you take into account the Mandalorians (which are most likely to be the best BHs) they are trained to fight from a very young age and if they are good that means they get all the high paying bounties and can afford all the top notch gear. This gives them an edge over troopers IMO. Though, yes, a typical BH will not be as skilled and won't be able to afford the gear that the trooper will have provided by the government. This is all from lore perspective, from game perspective it all depends on the player's skill and gear.

  6. Kids today...

It seems you are not aware of the first attempt to put LotR on celluloid.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077869/

Gym "Granted, Bakshi never got to finish the story..." Quirk

been a long time since I've seen that version and didn't remember him being the voice for Legolas in that; also didn't see it listed in Anthony Daniels resume of movies on imdb when I checked before, must have missed it.

  7. Jango beat Jedi to death with his bare hands and a rock....a frigging rock, they had Lightsabers, he had a rock...and he beat them to death.

If that doesnt make you #1 what does?

It takes more than just fighting ability to be a good bounty hunter. In my opinion to be a good bounty hunter you need: tracking ability, cunning/street smarts, a good arsenal, fighting ability, luck, and reputation. The most important of these in my opinion are tracking ability, cunning, and luck.

Boba Fett - has the whole package, all the necessary things to make you great

Jango Fett - like Boba, but a little more inclined toward fighting than cunning/smarts which in my opinion ranks him just a little lower

    IG-88 - great and unrelenting

Dengar - polished resume and managed to retire alive

Bossk / TOR Bounty Hunter - not sure on this, both are good, but I haven't gotten very far in the bounty hunter story of the game to really know much about the TOR hunter yet.

Honorable mentions, considered but not included:

Cad Bane, not overly familiar with him but he likely belongs in some lists. Kir Kanos and Cade Skywalker, both are great but not enough of what they've done and such have been documented in my opinion for me to include them in the list. Durge, is a beast but considering how long he lived, you'd expect him to be pretty good, also, he seems a little more warrior/soldier than bounty hunter to me.

  8. how is my information wrong? have we had confirmation that it was force absorption? just because consensus is that. that don't make it right. there is as much chance of it being a force shield as there is it bring force absorption. my theory is not wrong till it is proven wrong exactly the same as the other theory that is going around.

i'm not saying i'm right, i was merely giving an alternative. i not trying to be misleading

After first watching that clip I initially considered your theory as well. Though, when watching it I noticed that Malgus' blade does shorten while driving it down on Satele Shan so it is obvious that the tip of the blade is getting absorbed somewhere. This pretty much rules out a straight up force field block since it wouldn't cause any change to the length of the blade (I know, some lightsabers have controls to change the length but I doubt Malgus had one like that). Given this I quickly discarded the mini force field theory.

The best and so far closest to official theory I've seen is the Tutaminis ability.

*sidenote on the wiki - yes that is a good place to look but don't take it as solid fact, the wiki is peer edited and as such can be and has been wrong.

  9. Now, maybe the misspellings will stop....

Yeah, not likely, but we can always hope. :p

    This...

Though something like canon can be chalked up to a simple typo, it's when people spell stuff like Vader or Windu wrong multiple times in a post that really makes me cringe.

  10. My favorite part of the movies is the whole beginning of ESB on Hoth.

My favorite movie as a whole though is ANH.

Though I tend to watch all three together and generally consider them to be one entity.

(I'll watch the prequels occasionally as well but not as much since the only one even close to as good as the trilogy is ROTS.)

  11. I saw the mini-vid of the next update but there really wasn't much info on the mini-pets...what purpose would they serve if they are non-combat other than just for looks? Is there any more info about the update somewhere other than that promo video?

Personally I don't really want them in-game and would like the feature mentioned earlier to be able to turn off the visibility of them but if they are really only for looks then I don't really care enough to quit the game over it.

  12. I liked the Vong but agree that they shouldn't appear this far back in any real capacity, it would be too hard to explain how the rest of the galaxy completely forgets all about them later.

As for the Ssi-Ruuk or Yevetha...yes to the Yevetha as they were extremely interesting and would make a great addition as long as they were kept in a small role and weren't made main antagonists...this point in history should still mainly be about jedi vs. sith. No to the Ssi-Ruuk, the book was ok but as far as the species go...big dinosaurs toting guns just doesn't do it for me and doesn't really seem truly part of the SW universe IMHO.

  13. Here u go...

Before you go into Senate Tower you can choose to go down stairs to your left and to your right. You can go down either. When you go down one of the stairs head to the northern/middle part of the map. When you get there you should be right on top of the skill reset.

After taking either of the stairs within the yellow circle. You will be at the exact place you need to be in order to respec / reset your skills. Simply follow the arrows past the Auction place. You will come to 2 different NPCs.

You are looking for Leuro-Khain the Skill mentor.

    http://1stvideogame.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Skill-mentor-Leuro-Khain.bmp

Thanks for this, I've been trying to find the republic skill mentor as well, they sure like to hide him in the most out-of-the-way place they could find, never would have thought to look for him there.

  14. 1. Yes, flashpoints can be solo'd.

    2. Practically speaking, I have found you need to be about 7-10 levels above the listed level of the flashpoint in order to do it without much difficulty. It varies a bit since some fp's are harder than others, or more suited to certain class/specs for soloing purposes than others.

    3. In light of #2, I don't think it would be possible for a lvl 14 to solo Esseles.

    4. You can *attempt* to solo any flashpoint you can validly enter; if you are lvl 14 you certainly should be able to enter Esseles solo if you want. If the entrance is red, then there is some other reason for that. Last time you did Esseles, did you start it in a group but not finish it? If so, you may need to abandon it and re-get the quest.

    5. Soloing lower level instances as a high level char is a very good and easy way to get orange gear. It is also an easy way to get orange gear for your companions. Then it's just a matter of getting your hands on appropriate-level mods and switching out all the mods.

Thanks for the info, I haven't done Esseles at all yet but maybe I missed something like this:

I could get into Esselles at level 10. You do have to pick up the quest from the guy standing outside the instance. Other than that, I'm not sure why you couldn't zone in.

I just know I have a quest with Esseles in the title...perhaps I didn't look at it close enough, I'll double check it and, likely wait a few more levels before entering by myself. Thanks!
