  1. I'm going to chime in. I've switched from Lethality to Engineer in PvP and here's what I've noticed:

    1) Actively defending (i.e. not being a guard, but actually being where the action is to defend a contested node), this spec is beast mode. I go far enough up marksman to get precision ambush and heavy shot. I now have debilitate, flashbang, IP + PP and heavy shot for CC. I also have ballistic dampers. I can do two shield probes back to back with EMP pulse. I held mid in civil war this morning 3v1 for 18 seconds, long enough for more reinforcements to arrive.

    2) Damage output is decent. It's about 2/3 of what I can do with lethality. Best Engineering damage so far is about 700K and best for lethality was around 900K. Granted, to get super high numbers you need healers keeping you alive, no matter the spec.

    3) Finishing off players: If by some chance after EP+CB+SoS+Wallbang your target is still alive, calculated pursuit with 4 free overload shots is usually enough to finish them off. I also find the insta snipe after cover pulse useful. LT+TA+CP+S+EP+SoS = usually dead or fleeing.

    4) Energy management is no issue in lethality or engineering

It's a different play style than I'm used to, and I'm still getting the fine nuances down, but I'm finding it a blast to play in warzones.

  2. I like the idea of the resolve bar staying full for a few seconds once it fill up. I don't think there needs to be a buff involved though, especially one that could make someone immune to stuns for the rest of the game; a couple of noobs on one team could essentially turn someone into superman because they didn't understand how it worked. I just think the unstunnable juggernaut (not the class) has bad idea written all over it.

    my suggestions would be

    1. once the resolve bar fills it should drain slower

    2. have slow and root effects contribute to the resolve.

    3. when you use your respective CC breaker it should grant resolve (it's actually really weird that it doesn't)

I'd be fine with that, too. The main thing I'd like to see is that when resolve fills, it breaks the CC you're under. The buff was just brainstorming, and yeah, I can see how it could be a "Bad Idea ". I also agree that slows and roots should affect resolve and the use of cc breaker to grant resolve is also nice.

  3. I would prefer they just do what DAoC does.

Each application of a CC ability sets a timer, if the timer is counting down, each subsequent application of CC is cut in half for its efficacy, and each one after the second, cut in half again (1/4) etc.

CC is stiil far to abundant and powerful with too few methods of breaking it. Some of the recent announced changes will help a little, but its still too common IMO.

Either that or greatly increase the recharge rate of your activated ability that purges CC while in WZ's.

I'd be OK with this as well. I just figured it'd be easier to tweak what's already there rather than rebuilding something from scratch.

@Sue - I'm OK with bosses and some NPCs being immune to stuns. Otherwise it'd be too easy to cheese bosses and Bioware would probably give bosses resolve and we're right back at square one. Though I do like the sliding scale of NPCs being unable to stun a higher level character. Of course, if they actually had reasonable aggro radiuses and modifiers it wouldn't be an issue because that level 3 critter would not dare to touch that level 55 bad *** doing datacron hunting :).

  4. In all my time on The Bastion (PvP), I've NEVER heard of someone asking for a ransom. Yeah, there's a lot of griefing going on, but it quickly escalates into full on PvP wars.

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a bad experience, I find it funny that in my experience anyway, PvP servers are actually a bit more...polite. At least with regards for ransom demands.

    Best of luck to you!

  5. resolve: noun - firm determination to do something.

Resolve, near as I can tell, is pretty much universally hated and there's fairly consistent demand for diminishing returns on crowd control.

    My suggestion is as follows:

    1) Remove the "idiot proofing" where subsequent stuns reduce the amount of resolve gained. Players should be encouraged to play well and with situational awareness, the game shouldn't have been dumbed down.

    2) When your resolve bar fills, any CC affect you are under is immediately broken. Additionally, you are given a buff, let's say call it "Iron Will" or something. Each stack of Iron Will grants +2 seconds of resolve time before it starts counting down again. It stacks up to 5 times. On the fifth stack, resolve bar becomes permanently filled for the duration of the match.

To my thinking this will add the diminishing returns on stuns this game needs.

  6. Just so I'm understanding this:

In my Conq MH/OH replace the barrel/mod/enh. For my partisan pieces, rip out the mods and replace them as well so long as in a bolster area I'm at 2018. Right now I'm 2018 capped in my gear.

My partisan pieces (everything else is conq):

    Head

    Gloves

    Belt

Relic is Conq SA and Obroan Focused Retribution. All gear is augmented. HP is 29620.

So, should I modify my partisan pieces and mh/oh, or am I OK? I'd like to start doing ranked, but I don't want to be "that guy", ya know?

  7. We've known that Sniper/Orbital rebalancing is coming in the future :)

Really imho its OS/Flyby that makes us do a lot of DPS. If you've seen the amount of adds in HM Dread Fortress.. thats a lot of damage just from one ability on a 45-60 sec cooldown that you cast for 1.5 sec and leave by itself to tick.

Yeah, we've known about OS/FB for a while, but when it comes to Bioware, they view nerfs like Doritos, can't have just one.

  8. Expect a few nerfs, fellow snipers. Though, it seems like Sent/Mara might be in for even more of a rough time than we are.

Mercenaries/Commandos are not really underperforming in DPS as some sort of trade-off (unless the Mercenary/Commando actually is spending global cooldowns to cleanse, resurrect, or heal); it is more because we went too far to ensure that guilds would bring Marauders/Sentinels and Snipers/Gunslingers into operations. We did this because, while the other classes have an opportunity to fulfill one of two different roles in an operation, Marauders/Sentinels and Snipers/Gunslingers can only fulfill the damage dealing role in operations. So we made sure they dealt plenty of damage, and then we gave them utility to boot – probably too much damage, and probably too much utility, judging by the operation groups that some guilds put together.

    And the Sent/Mara (poor bastards)

It is fairly clear now that Mercenaries/Commandos are not the dominating force on the field of battle that we originally feared they might be. With that said, some classes have utilities that are just too strong and/or cooldown durations that are quite possibly too short – the Marauder/Sentinel is a good example of a class like this.
  9. It's not about feeling entitled to anything...it's more about a courtesy that should be shown...in my opinion.

Anyways, I respect you for owning your actions and not trying to make excuses and blaming it on others.

Yeah, well, I've also been known to invite people to group, and help them get other things, and as I edited in my post, I don't ninja loot chests. My jerkness does have limits, but don't tell anyone, I have a reputation to maintain :).

  10. Most of the objects are interactive even when in combat. If you fail to realize that and don't get your objective while you're by it, then sorry, I'm taking it.

And yes, I am a jerk, and I own it proudly. If I only have one box left, and someone doesn't have the presence of mind to click it before fighting, that is simply not my problem. To think otherwise denotes a certain level of entitlement.

You are entitled to nothing, you keep what you kill. You need an item? Get it first.

EDIT TO ADD: I do not, however, ninja loot chests. If someone is fighting by a loot chest, I'll help them kill whatever is there and leave them to it. I will, though, quite happily ninja quest objectives if someone isn't smart enough to do it first.

  11. Just when I think Bioware couldn't raise the level of suck on patches breaking thing, they find a way to raise the only bar that needs to be lowered.

Great job, Bioware! If I was as bad as you lot are, I'd quickly find myself in the unemployment line. Why don't you just give up and shut down the game already, it's patently obvious you don't give a crap about it or its players.

  13. Yeah, I figured that out, and I do it when I get the chance. But some players will seriously wait out of my sight and then race to get it before me. It's just really annoying, so even when I think I'm alone on a mission I go after the objective first.

Does seem to happen a fair bit on our server, so I do what you do. I run to the object, aggro the mobs then click the object then fight the mobs.

  14. The only time I'm annoyed by that is when I'm trying to test out something on a mob and the person burns through the mob when I meant to take my time with the fight. I'll tell you what really kills me: I hate it when I'm on a mission where I have to click an object or take an objective and I have to kill a mob to get to it, and another player waits for me to start fighting the mob. Then when they see that I'm busy fighting the mob they run past me and click the objective and I have to wait for a respawn. Most of them are pretty short respawn times but I've had to wait a bit for some. I just dislike lazy players who try to get others to do their work for them. I wouldn't be so irritated if people would be more subtle about using you as a shield to get mission objectives. But alas this is an MMO with real people who are just as lazy in real life. So I just suck it up.

Most of those objects are clickable while fighting, by the way, so there's no reason why you can't grab them while fighting.

  15. that's far more like it, less hostile.

yes well, my character is light V, if it can create such a huge mess i'll change that and delete the latin quote.

I don't care about the latin quote, I use one in my sig for my guild forums, I like latin. I just dislike, with the burning heat of a thousand suns, the name Drizzt in a MMO :).

If you're curious, this is my Latin phrase of choice:

de inimico non loquaris male sed cogites

  16. my my, someone here must be having a rough day, you don't even know me and yet you call me "fan boy", "snowflake" and "yet-to-hit-puberty".

how exactly should i reference a light side person following the rules if not "lawful good"?

or maybe i can guess something else, you just want to pick a fight with someone that doesn't want to, protected by the anonymous power of the internet?

the crystal is canon, i give you that, but if someone asks me how i consider my character the best way to say it, in my modest opinion, is with the classic alignment.

i still have to understand your reason for all this hostility...

Because of the name "Drizt" the most overused game in every MMO since Everquest. I'll ease off on the hostility and address your question honestly and respectfully. In the table top RPG you gained "points" for light side, and dark side. If you are "true" all light side, your canonical alignment would be "Light 5" or "Light V". The Force alignment scale is:

    Light V

    Light IV

    Light III

    Light II

    Light I

    Neutral

    Dark I

    Dark II

    Dark III

    Dark IV

    Dark V

That would be the appropriate way to have it in sig. Light V can imply lawfulness, it can also imply chaotic. The only thing it strictly conveys is the character uses the light side of the force. It is also possible to be completely light side of the force yet also be utterly evil. Not in the way the game plays it, but that's a whole different story. Force is not good or evil, it is merely the Force.
