  1. I'm considering one of three options:

    1. request a free server transfer or I quit my subscription immediately.

    2. request a refund of this months subscription (and the expansion I just bought last night) so I can quit immediately

    3. bend over further...

  2. I forget, and I haven't raided since last week. Is there an option to disassemble columni or rakata drops? If there is, what kind of materials do they give me respectively? Would a columni disassemble give me the materials needed to make a level 136 piece of exotech armor?
  3. Again, I think the point is if stuff like this makes the game better, It should be free. Why are you charging for something like this??

This begs the question. What makes the game better? If your experience is "better" if you just have everything for free, then you might not like RPG/MMO games like this where you have to build up your character and work to acquire rare or unique things.

  4. Micro-transactions don't necessarily mean pay-to-win. I come from old school Travian and from League of Legends where MT meant either time savers or cosmetic purchases respectively. They had no effect on your competitiveness and a non-paying person could compete evenly with a paying one. The paying player just looked cooler and might have acquired levels faster (because of faster travel, larger cargo bays, or other convenience features).
  5. People were talking about an enduring tauntaun on ilum. Also about a tiny one.

I went there to check it out. The enduring one doesn't seem like anything, but the tiny one could be something.

This tauntaun is TINY, like a pebble tiny. Also, not clickable. Still, it's a lead.

In the same forum thread someone made a map out of the tiny one. I went to the spot, but I didn't find anything there either. Maybe it was the wrong spot, or because I don't have the jerky...dunno. Either way, here's the map they drew:

I hope this helps, I'll try at it.

So I decided to redraw that map that was posted earlier with the dead body and zoom out the camera in certain positions to see what I could match up with a trace of the Hoth world map. It came up that the pebble sized tauntaun was directly on top of a cave just south of tauntaun ridge. Went there and checked around. I found an inlet inside of the cave with wampas standing over dead tauntaun bodies. There were 4 dead tauntauns. I wasn't able to click anything nor interact with any of the tauntaun. I had jerky in my inventory but I didn't want to use it because my guild/server only has one :( (Horrid liver drop rates). Anyone want to check that?

Coords of the cave are -2040,51.

Once you go in the inlet I was talking about will be on the left with the tunnel opens up.

This is fantastic! I think Piratejeffy & Dragonbgone are onto something very important here.

I dont know if their overlay map lines up correctly, or if the soldier should even be involved in the mapping... I will join the hunt. I'm going to sniff down this lead some more...

  6. Ahhh. I am glad that it was just horrible luck and not wasted mats. Thanks for everyone that replied and congrats on getting things critted.

I should mention that all my companions are also 10k but the RE gods were not with me yesterday.

I had to laugh at this one, Nice!:

Were you talking about crafting oranges or reverse engineering?

  7. Well, considering that 90% of all crafters just craft what they can make a massive profit on, anything would be desireable.

Because right now, its near impossible to get better gear beyond the pitiful amount of commendations you get or crafting and crafting right now is pointless since the RE'ing part of it is just too low to be worth trying.

God, i wish the crafters were actually crafting for their servers' community instead of their own greed, but that wish will never come true.

its a symbiotic relationship. it is up to the community to value what is best for it, and if they did then they would pay for it. if they paid for it, the crafters would make it to sell...

  8. Purple modable items CANNOT be researched to schematics. When you research them there is a chance that they will produce an Orange shell. A shell is not a schematic but a empty orange gear that is bound to your character.

For example I have an purple helm, with a mod and enhancement in it (important that they have mods and not just purple color *items currently name [prototype]) When I reverse engineering this item there is a 20% chance I get a orange item back, 80% chance I receive mats. It is also important that you leave the mods in the gear when you reverse engineer it. This orange shell is not a schematic but an empty orange version of the purple helm with the same looks.

Currently there are no [Prototype] purple belts or bracers. What this means is we will not be crafting low level orange boots/gloves but we can reverse engineer purples with mods to have a chance of receiving a orange boots/gloves in return. Purple bracers/belts when reverse engineered will only return mats, thus we will not be crafting these or getting them from reverse engineering!

why in the world would you ever want to have an orange shell instead of a purple shell?

  9. To make sense of the developer posts let me list some terms as crafters you should become familiar with.

Modable gear = Purple gear with mods, and enhancements in them.

Custom gear = Orange gear of any kind

RE = Reverse engineered to produce material

Researched = Reverse engineered to learn a schematic

Modable gear that is added in 1.2 will have a chance to be learned if you win a reverse engineer roll in a group. This does not include pvp gear keep in mind. Custom gear can not be reverse engineered, however several new schematics have been added that can be found through crafting missions (underworld trading for example). Most gear can now be reverse engineered to produce materials, for example the lv14 green gloves that dropped for you off trash in athiss will reverse engineer into rubat crystals. There is a chance with blue/green gear that when you reverse engineer them for mats you might research a basic green schematic of that gear that you can then craft.

so if I'm to simplify this into an answer to my question "how will I be able to crit craft orange schematics so I can sell them on the GTN?" the two part answer is:

    1. learn the orange schematic through crafting missions

    2. learn the orange schematic through an research (disassemble) loot roll on new gear added in 1.2

am I understanding this correctly? no learning orange schematics from any items we are saving up right now? none whatsoever?

  10. Unfortunatly, on all builds of the PTR including the one just today - crafted oranges cannot be RE'd at all. Looks like they are going to become vendor junk. Nobody will want them, and they cannot be RE'd to recover mats.

Extremely poor design choice here, as the vast majority of items produced by crafting will be failed crit oranges.

Oompaw, can you RE any oranges you pick up from killed mobs, flashpoint bosses, etc...?

  11. @Crop

From what I took out of the dev write up is that orange can be RE'd but NOT for a schematic just mats. Only moddable purples have the chance? to grant a schematic.

At least you will get mats back for those horded oranges.

Also of note the orange recipes ala "Battlelord" & "Saber Marshall" (fingers crossed) can be obtained through running missions like our current setup for schematics, however no clear answer on if that will include anything besides chest helm and legs like we currently have.

I guess I would agree with you if I read the statement below from the Q&A to mean "the schematics for these items are ONLY obtained via mission discoveries"

Because we do not want players to gamble with reverse engineering custom appearances (orange items) which are often unique quest rewards, the schematics for these items are obtained via mission discoveries for various gathering skills and are set to Bind on Equip to encourage active trading.

maybe that is what it means...

    dang

  12. Ya, thanks.

I did an extensive google search (past the first 2 pages) for any info on these items, some places suggested the colicoid bosses drop them, others suggested the big guy on nar shaddaa drops one. but ya, the only piece I could see either of them dropping is the lower level piece.

Unfortunately, the "Rakghoul Corpse" reference isn't very helpful, and it seems on darthhater that the item is linked to them, but they are not linked to the item. I will try nonetheless. however, darthhater also lists "Battlemaster War Leader's Greaves" as drops by rakghoul, so I'm not sure what confidence I have in their database...

  13. Maybe. I have to find somebody that knows that schematic anyways!

Come to think of it... I would like it now. I've been grinding a few dozen times on "Boarding Party" trying to get the "Marauders Foundry Hood" from chief engineer Kels, but without luck. Now I'm trying this route...

  14. For everyone that keeps posting some variation of 'In 1.2 you'll be able to RE anything to a schematic for an orange', please link a thread with a dev post stating this is the case or a post by someone actually on the PTS that is learning new schematics by RE-ing existing in game items.

    I haven't seen it.

I have talked with someone on the PTS who has RE'd quite a number of orange item, and not ONE thing has provided a schematic, though they have provided mats.

I have talked with someone on the PTS who has looked at social gear, and it is not possible to RE.

I have seen a dev post saying rare quest rewards won't RE.

I have seen a dev post saying there will be a new RE tooltip, eventually to include the percentage chance of learning a schematic.

I have seen the patch notes and a dev post stating new T2 gear will be RE-able to a schematic.

I have also seen the dev crafting overview that is so vaguely worded it seems to be giving everyone the idea that everything in game that is modifiable will start providing schematics in 1.2, but every time someone asks for clarification, none is provided.

But again, I haven't seen one post or gotten one confirmation from people on the PTS that existing orange, blue, purple, green, whatever gear will be able to provide schematics from RE.

Exactly! DawnAskham, thank you for trying to stick to what we do know & not speculate. This is the only useful info we have, unfortunately.

  15. So as I understand it, after patch 1.2 synthweavers & armormechs will be able to reverse engineer mod-able armor pieces (orange, blue/purple armor items with mods in them) to be able to learn a schematic of said piece.

I take this to mean that I should be saving any & all mod-able armor pieces I come across right now... correct?

edit: So its still unclear as to whether or not we can RE orange gear we pick up from missions. I'm still stockpiling... in case we can RE it to learn schematics...

  16. I think the rule of thumb on this bug is that if the companion below the one you want to use is busy, then you cannot use the one you want.

So the work around for this bug is to make sure you assign longer tasks to those higher in the companion list, and over the course of time... you can keep assigning missions top down... as they become available (at least 2 available at a time)
