  1. Sure I can. It's grieifng. You're costing them money (or time, or forcing them to avoid an area) by your actions as a player. Clearly that's grieifing.

It's not griefing when the game mechanics not only encourage it, but a quest tells you to do it.

That be like saying killing players in EvE is griefing.

  2. No, right now it would just take logging in. I'd be infected before I was able to leave the fleet and head to belsavis (where I normally solo the heroic 2 and 4s along with some of the rest of the dailies)

Maybe you shouldn't log out in a spot where otehrs can get to you. Did you used to complain about the Party bombs as well?

  3. If it's preventing people from doing what they'd normally do, and caused specifically by a player's actions in a non-pvp situation, that's pretty clearly griefing, eh?

Except, if you're out doign that stuff, your chanced of beign infected are pretty slim unless your friend or guildie is chasing you down. Even then, you could havegotten it removed before going after the champion.

  4. No, it's still griefing even then.

If someone walks into your house and takes a dump in your living room, the fact that you get something doesn't make that ok...

Do you expect me to be impressed by the fact you only pulled out the part of what I said that you could twist and completely ignored the statement about hwo it *benefited* them to have it done to them?

  5. Simple solution = Allow infected people that come to social zones like the Fleet get targeted by NPCs and gunned down.

Players are intentionally abusing it by going to areas where large amounts of people are inorder to game the mechanics.

The Fleet is visited by folks from 10 - 50. Higher levels or alts may be able to afford getting infected and curing it but it is an unreasonable situation to screw over those that are neither and dont want to be infected.

The Fleet is supposed to be a safe zone... as such the NPCs should be gunning down people that are infected.

They aren't abusing it... they're *supposed* to go and infect people. It's a quest... which means you should go do it.

It is safe... because nothign is harmign you. Quite the opposite, they are helping you. You get DNA which is selling fast adn for good credits (if you're not just keepign them yourselffor the pet and black/green crystals) and if you infect others you get credit toward the quest which is free XP if you're not at 50. They are helpign you, not hindering you.

  6. so, now you're argument is that it's not griefing very much rather than not griefing at all?

Of course, you're also overlooking any additional inconvenience that it causes if it happens in a warzone.

if you have a champion mob at 10% and it happens, does the champion sit there at 10% waiting for you to get up, or does it reset back to 100%?

Don't go fight a champion mob while you're infected? You do keep a tab on your current debuffs, right?

  7. The problem with that one was....the event started causing havoc on the servers, and player's computers were graphically lagging so badly in the main cities players were having trouble simply playing due to the hundreds of corpses laying around that weren't despawning. The other problem was players were going out and wiping out all the quest NPCs in the lowbie towns for their own faction. I went out to the Crossroads to try and stop them, and got some pretty hateful whispers from the griefers. It's the reason I think people should keep the fun amongst themselves and not bother someone not really interested in the event in that I'm not saying don't enjoy the event, just don't do so at someone else's expense.

Now I will agree that event was full of griefing. Namely becasue it disrupted *everything* and it held no benefits at all to anyone. Auctioneers, quest givers, lowbies... anyoen and everythign coudl be infected. And you weren't doign it for rewards, just to be a tool. Now, I was on a PvP server and a group of us did get infected and then went storming a few horde cities... but that was PvP happening on a PvP server. Was interestign to find out that while in ghoul form you could all talk to each other since the ghouls used their own language.

  8. so, now you're argument is that it's not griefing very much rather than not griefing at all?

Of course, you're also overlooking any additional inconvenience that it causes if it happens in a warzone.

if you have a champion mob at 10% and it happens, does the champion sit there at 10% waiting for you to get up, or does it reset back to 100%?

It's still not griefing when they get somethign for it. Moreso, is if they infect someoen they get credit toward a quest  !! that means free XP for exploding on people.

yeah, helpign peole get currency and free XP is *totally* griefing.

  9. A non-zero amount of grief, since it interrupts what they're doing and costs them time.

The situation is no different than exploiting a bug in the game that allows you to autoflag someone as pvp and then kill them.

It costs them what... 2-3 seconds of being stunned every 20 minutes or so? So costs them like 6-10seconds an hour... 24 hours would be 2.5-4 minutes per *day* if they played 24 hours straight while gettign infected every time they respawned. There is no running back becasue you rez right where you were and it costs no durability damage so no lost time to farmign repair costs.

  10. No, pretty much every quality mmo has a pve mode that prevents players from griefing one another.

EvE would like a word with you.

As would EQ with mob training.

And WoW with Hunter/Rogue pulling into another player's AoE and Feigning/Vanishing.

There are ways to grief people in every game. This, though, isnt' griefing when it's working as intended.

  11. The Plague is becoming annoying not to mention the Fleet station is becoming a lag fest due to all the people trying to infect each other....

By giving people 5 DNA samples each time they explode your encouraging people to grief other players... I would be pissed if I was a low level player and had to pay 2k a pop each time so joker exploded on me...

Obviously Bioware didn't think this one out.... If your going to allow people to grief, then make it so when they are about to explode other players can shoot them and put them out of their misery without them exploding on us...

You don't pay 2k a pop... the vaccine is 6 hours of protection. Moreso, if you're not on the fleet, you don't have to spend the credits!! Or you could just die from the infection and use the DNA to sell on the GTN and make money off of it.

  12. while 2k isn't a big deal, its that i have to go to tat, and some quest, to get it free, and there are a bunch of greifers purposely sitting at fleet spawn in, to give the rakghoul disease to you.

that is just inconsiderate, of Devs, to not think of that people,do greifing stuff like camping the fleet load in.

as for 2k, for some of you, credits, are easy, but we have been running ops, and hms, and repair costs, are draining my credits. Stop the credit sink repair costs, and i might be less inclined to care about a 2k stim.

the whole rakghoul thing is a crock,in my opinion, anyway. they had deathtroopers in swg, and it was just stupid. if i wanted to kill zombies, or vampires, or otther malignant creatures, i would play left4dead or some other zombie rip off

If credits are so hard to come by... stop dying in HMs and Ops? They aren't that difficult. More so why waste 2k when it costs nothign to simply die from it or by jumping down the fleet openings? See... no credits wasted.

You're playing a Bioware SW game and expected there not to be a Rakghoul invasion eventually?

  13. Was not aware of time limits; my bad. wait; no it ain't.

If I want datrcons, I can use the option and seek them. If I want to play PvP, I can choose that option, too.

Today, someone else made my choices for me; not what I intended at all. It was not, and is not enjoyable for me. Sorry that I could care less if someone does not get my concern.

All you have to do is mouse over the debuff and *gasp* ZOMG!!! It says the duration and the effect!! Yeah, so totally your bad you didn't know about the time limit.

No oen made yoru choices for you. They played the game... you *chose* to play the game. You then chose to *cry* about the game. Hence why it's you QQ'ing. Nothign stopped you from going about your business.

  14. Ok then there was a misunderstanding. My concern is that - having done this planet 5 times now with 5 characters of both factions - I doubt any lowbie will be able to pass his quests on this planet until the event is over, or everyone gets bored. He'll run into opposite faction 50s far too often, corpse camped or not.

It happens. It could happen at any tiem on a PvP server... that is why they rolled on a PvP server, afterall, isn't it? There is *always* a chance that PvP will happen and not in a fair fight. It's why I personally love PvP servers and wished my guild had choosen one. PvP happens on a PvP server and that's just eh way it is.

  15. Yes; one should move quickly from the Safe Areas because they are evidently unsafe; possibly go lvl in their ship....

No wait; don't have one of those either. Maybe there is a nice vacant PvP area available since folks seem to be going *BOOM* in the once secure areas currently.

Sorry for meandering so long while I actually considered my AC choices.

And last I checked, the Fleet wasn't even marked a sanctuary... and you sure enough can die on it. I see dead bodies on it on the time and have seen plenty of people die going for that +10 Stats Datacron.

If it takes you 20+ minutes to consider your AC choices, I'm sure this event is the least of your worries.

  16. Open World PvP =/= walking around with a guy all day while he quests. People really wanting open world PvP are going to be going to the crash site and world boss sites.

Obviously, and I never said walk around with him while he quests. You statedthat it sucked for those lowbies gettign corpse camped. If they're gettign camped, they call for help. PvP ensues because you knwo the location of the enemy, come in, kick them around for a few rounds of PvP, then oneside eventually gives up, and you go back to doign what you were doing.

No one ever said stay with the lowbie, so gret job on addign words to make it sound completely stupid.

  17. I was on Tatooine....doing the event dailies...

    ....

I'm talking about the "infect other people who don't want to be infected" aspect, not the "participating in the World Event" aspect.

For example, some people are on fleet for a specific reason, and might not want to be bothered by the World Event people running around infecting everyone. It's reasonable to expect people to be courteous of others who wish to not participate, but still be on Fleet. One shouldn't have to leave the Fleet just because of some World Event they don't want to participate in that is only on Fleet because of the players, not necessarily because it originated on Fleet.

    ---

My point is, if you want to run around infecting other players (which I'm not arguing against) then do so with players who don't mind, and not just with random people who might not be interested. Just because they "get a reward" doesn't mean they are interested in it.

I understand fully where you are comign from, but you are missing a very important aspect fo MMO's. It's supposed to be a persistent gameworld. So many people have complained that this game doesnt' feel like one... and now there is somethign that really shows how persistent it can be, and you al lwant to whine about it?

Gamewide events are there to disrupt standard play. Other players can, will, and should seek out their gameplay crossing path with other players. If you dont' want other people beign able to affect your gameplay, you really *shouldn't* be playing an MMO.

All of WoW's pre-expansion events involved disruptive events... cities undersiege, the zombie plague, and the stupid elemental attacks everywhere. Let's not forget the good old days of mob training to cause a disruption in older games. You're playing a Massively *Multiplayer* Online game. Other people are going to effect and influence the gameworld aroudn you, wether you like it or not.

Addionally, if you were doign the dailies and gettign infected, chances are you would have gotten so anyway since it's spread by the Rakghouls themselves.

  18. Yes, because all the level 50s trying to get the world bosses and dailies done without the other faction interuppting are just happy to take several hours to go protect a guy while he quests.

On a PvP server... yeah, I'm pretty sure most PvPers would jump at the possibility of actual world PvP. If not, well then it shows you the quality of supposed 'PvPers' in this game and would make me happy to know my guild decided on a standard RP server since it would make a PvPRP server very boring.

  19. I see; use OOC info to know what is happening instead of RP the character, the Mission, and the moment. Too bad I did not have the option to replay the event; will have to link the Wiki somehow for auxh future intel, I guess....

Thing is, this is not fun for me; avoided Special Undead storylines here as much as possible before, and am motivated to avoid it even more now.

If you're trying to avoid the event, nothign is stopping you from playing. Leave the fleet and continue leveling. The only point you will probably have to deal with it is on Tattoine. Though with us not knowing how long the event will last (and me not knowing your play habits) you may not have to deal with it then, either.

You're QQ'ing and complainign that you won't play when, if you're actually levelign and playing, it won't affect you for the most part. That's why it's QQ, because it is mostly avoidable without even havign to buy the vaccine.

  20. Stay away from the fleet?!?!

    F*** YOU.

Why don't you resist the urge to blindly ram your infected character into every single player you see, like a child with a new toy?

Take your own advice and go do something, rather than sit on the fleet all day infecting people because you think it's funny.

God I can't even begin to dissect all the logical fallacies and strawman arguments you just wrote so I'm going to stop now, before I forget how to do math.

I participated in the event and I never sat around infecting people. Is that the event? Because i could have sworn it was to do a bunch of missions and boss fights.

    Wow, this is hilarious.

    1) I'm at work, not in game... why do you think I'm on the forums isntead of happily chasing guildies across the galaxy to infect them?

    2) I'm almost never on the fleet because I go actually play the content.

    3) The dude has no business being on the fleet for long peroids of time when he is supposedly leveling up a character. He sould be off leveling not sitting on the fleet throwing a tantrum.

The Event does happen to include infectign people, there is a mission for it. So yes, sitting around infecting people is part of the event.

  21. I can't imagine how terrible this is for people just trying to level and do their quests on Tatooine, only to have a pack of 30 opposite faction 50s come and corpse camp them all day.

They even have enough to kill all the defenses at almost every medical respawn area and repeatedly kill you there, but even if they aren't doing that, there's certainly no way most level 25s are able to do ANY Dune sea material.

So PvP happening on a PvP server... I don't see the problem? If you're gettign ganked, call for back up... I'm sure your factio nhas level 50s there for the event as well.

If you're not on a PvP server, just turn off your flag

  22. It is when you do not wish to participate.

Then stay away from the Fleet and the event? Gasp, such inconcievable concept, I know. Go actually do somethign instead of sitting in the Fleet all day and you'll find that isn't an issue. Though if you have no interest in server and game events that get the entire community invovled, why are you playign an MMO?

  23. No; I am out 2k out of the 6k I had at the time to get an innoculation. I did not know that Death was to be exploited; simply informed via RP to avoid infecting others.

And when a Mission involves attacking another Player, that would seem to be PvP by definition. And by not asking others if they wish to be involved in their play, this could be considered Griefing by those that want no part of the Space Zombie storyline.

As for those that were considering QQ because they did not get the 30 free days originally; nice to see you value others even less.

It's not exploitation when it's part of the game and the mechanic of the event. Please learn the definition of an exploit. You don't need to spend jack squat on the innoculation. Finish your business pm the fleet, you'll die sometime on Coruscant, sell the DNA at the GTN there, profit immensely, and keep questing. *You* profit from it.

Except it doesn't involving attackign antoher player. All it invovles is standing around other players. Which, in an mmo, you should be aroudn other players constantly. As for asking others if they want to be involved, perhaps I should start reportign all those players killing the mobs I need for my dailies from now, yeah? They're totally griefing me because they didnt' ask to come up and get involved. As for wanting no part: Tough luck? It's a game event that is supposed to have an impact across the game. Moreso, it doesn't harm you in anyway.

Hah, I'll be the first to admit that anyone who cried that they didn't havea 50 was a QQ'er. I don't spoil my neices and nephews when they throw a tantrum, why would I think different of a bunch of supposed adults acting the same way? People threw a tantrum because they weren't getting somethign someone else was. I have no problems withthe people who's issue was the wording... but the people that whined they weren't getting the time because they didn't hit 50 in 4 months... children throwing tantrums should be punished, not rewarded.

  24. I am not QQ; simply coerced to wait all this out if I want to play my Alt. I could start another, but do not want the same problem with one that has even less credits. And my main will remain in quarantine, as a new member of the Dark Council and all.....

You keep complaining that you're refusing to play because you have no credits... and yet getting infected provides you with a way to get credits  Shocking to see the circle your mind loops in.
