  1. I think "when" is fine, but "whether or not" isn't. Lots of the people who cause trouble in the thread are ones who say SGRs will never be implemented. But we've been discussing "when" since the first thread. :D

Fair enough. Now that I think about it, it seems silly to pay a monthly subscription for a game and then complain it doesn't have the features you want. I knew when I bought it that same sex romance wasn't on the disc. I'd argue that BioWare's statements about adding them after launch were somewhat misleading, but that's more a case of caveat emptor than anything else I guess.

I'm going to go find find somebody who actually wants my entertainment dollars. I honestly wish you all luck.

  2. Greetings everyone!

We are just posting a gentle reminder to please keep this on topic to Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ versus other games, although we do understand the use of them in analogies. Additionally, please remember the topic of the thread is in regards to how Same Gender Romance Arcs will be implemented into the game versus discussion of if it should be or not.

Thank you and enjoy your discussion!

So is this a warning not to discuss when and whether or not Same Gender Romance Arcs will be implemented?

  3. It's not the sort of thing I expect to hear at a 3-minute E3 presentation, that's all.

Now, this is supposed to be EA's Pride Month, so I wonder if THAT will bring on any tidbits of news... but I sort of doubt it. As they keep saying, we'll hear about it when it's almost done. /armflail :rod_frown_g:

While I generally agree, EA's been pretty loud about support for gaymers lately. You'd think including a couple of frames of girl-girl or boy-boy romance in the video would have guaranteed attention in an already saturated E3 environment...

  4. BioWare said a while back that 1.3 would be a smaller patch, just for Legacy additions and the group finder and other mechanical things. They said patches after it would return to more content and story updates.

Besides, nobody gets what they want exactly when they want it. That's called Real Life. :) Patience is called a virtue for a reason, as there are things worth waiting for.

There's a difference between patience and gullibility, and I'm starting to wonder which one I'm displaying by continuing to pay for a subscription. I really, really wish Bioware would consider this a case of missing functionality rather than "nice to have content". But it's so nice to be able to buy a ticket for the bus, we should all be happy to ride at the back of it, right?

At the guild summit, BioWare said that SGRs would come with the story update. What did the E3 preview mention? Story updates. Therefore, we're still on track. Just because something wasn't mentioned doesn't mean it's not in.

Care to explain where the step back is? SGRs not being mentioned in no way means they're not going to be added. That's a baseless assumption.

If something wasn't shown, then they're aren't willing to commit to it being in. That's the step back. That's not to say that you're wrong. Everything could be there and ready to go. Getting information out of BioWare has been like pulling teeth throughout this entire process. Until they decide to actually tell us what's going on, all we can do is try to read the tea leaves of their other announcements.

Thus far, they have not inspired confidence.

  5. The only problem I have with the eventual inclusion of same-gender relationships is that there is a lot (a LOT a lot) of things that a larger majority of players want to see in the game. I wouldn't like for them to spend too much time developing content that is specifically for a smaller minority of players. I understand it's very important to those players, but the developers and writers' time is limited, and I would rather they focus on stuff that everyone, or at least the majority of players, will enjoy.

If they happen to find themselves with extra time to work on something, then sure why not. But that seems unlikely. I'm afraid that it would come down to Bioware wanting to, say, add a new Flashpoint, but instead the writers and developers are busy working on same-sex romances, so we miss out on that content, or at least it gets delayed.

I don't think anybody here is really asking BioWare to develop content "specifically" for a minority of players. I mean, I know I'm certainly not asking for a special companion mission where I show Qyzen-Fess a new method of scoring points on Fire Island.

In a BioWare RPG title released in 2011, exclusion of same-sex romance options is a bug.

If this had come out of any other company, most people interested in same-gender romancin' would have just quietly taken their seat at the back of the bus. People expect more from BioWare though. It's what happens when you raise the bar.

  6. 1 - A rough eta on same sex relationships (flirting ect) Were not after a nailed down etched in stone, be all end all date, Just a rough idea. A week/Month maybe 3 ect ?

    This.

There was nothing wrong with "we will add it after launch" as an initial answer, especially before launch. But declining to provide anything resembling an ETA or any idea how same gender stuff is going to be implemented makes one wonder if there is an actual plan yet.

Since this is the Internet, any absence of information will be filled by speculation.

But then, maybe the forum admins actually *enjoy* closing these threads every other day.
