  1. Here we conclude Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Prelude: Shadow of Revan: Proliferation of Subtitles: And Abuse of Colons. It’s the longest stretch of game plot Nalenne, Niselle, and Rho have ever conquered.

The spoiler policy has shifted: from SoR Prelude, it now covers Shadow of Revan: Rishi. Class-specific content will still be spoiler marked in bold.

    Thanks for reading! :)

I’ll be hosting a Q&A all weekend, to be answered Sunday; if you have questions about the girls, the NDOW universe, my take on game events, or anything in the greater Bright!verse, fire away.

quoting beccause I assume this might end up at the top of the next page.

Anyway I loved this and as I read through I had forgotten that Quinn was "Sith clan’s dumbest" and I choked on my coffee. :D

So I have a question. If the girls both make it to KoTFE and one of them was in carbonite and not the other will they continually make fun of how the other one looks much "older" now? XD

Other questions: Rho-Jaesa-Kira "poly-amorous illicit sex animals" yes?

  2. I haven't been drawing as much swtor stuff because of inktober. I hope I can make use of 12x XP to get the swtor drawing groove back. Of course I can't seem to get tired of these two and I missed them.

I wish the character models supported pants that weren't so skin tight. Not that I'd ask for suits... no... of course not.

  4. I renewed my subscription for the summer (and strongholds) so I can sneak in an anniversary picture.

    Remi and Scourge of course.

  5. @bright A fitting and dramatic exit for Wynston. As for you, thank you so much for your contribution to this thread. Your Friday prompts, awesome stories, funny ideas, and encouraging comments are what inspired me to write and draw, so thank you very much. For me, at least, your writing here had a greater impact than simple entertainment and the writing alone was damn entertaining. I hope to see your writing somewhere so I can fangirl there if you don't mind.

@everyone else I'm glad this thread is still so lively nearly 2 years after it began. I don't have as much time to write/read this thread as I did in the beginning. I seriously wish I could draw and read at the same time. In any case I've been enjoying all the stories so far, keep it up!

  6. Comments!

@bright_ephemera I love a girl who loves her droid and I will now think of Blizz as "small toolkit." So cute. He needs his own droid to "improve."

@DarthSillyMonkey Fenn'rys is right, Sith and Jedi might both think they could "safely" mess with any device. Good observations about Temple too, I do love a manipulative IA, and Fenn'rys is tops.

@frauzet Awesome conclusion to the sep base. I knew what was coming and it still hurt. I like that Nikeo wanted the confrontation so he could get an answer out of Tavus. As to Zal/Io I can't help but feel like it's all part of the plan. I don't trust them agents, even when they're almost dead.

@icecreampants ooh the plot thickens. I wonder what would have happened if he just tried to kill Lutra instead. Probably the same thing.

@marissalf I loved that twist, as much as I love Kaliyo, she deserved that one.

@SifaSeven Nice backstory on Kaliyo's battle cry. I like your agent, he's very crafty and seems to know how to handle Kaliyo.

@sthrift I love the true military feel of your writing. Though you are terribly cruel with that ending. Argh!

    Also this part:

“Besides, Elara is prettier than you.”

Vic started to argue. “But..well yeah you got me on that last point. But not by much.”

I'm not sure what it's like for a male trooper but there's a line with a female trooper when she's talking to Vik and he says something complementary and she can say "You coming on to me, Vik?" He replies, "No! You humans are ugly as Hutts." (that's paraphrased it's been a long time). I thought that was particularly funny here, but I don't think Vik would say that about Elara to Voslic's face.

@TrystanLaryssa I loved being able to mess with Quinn in that conversation. I like that last thought from your SW as well.

@YoshiRaphElan Loved the "frozen" piece. I'm only sad that it wasn't in musical format.

  7. Hello! I feel like I haven't written in forever, but it's only been a few weeks.

So of course comments first! I hope I didn't miss anyone and my coherency might be way low based on talking about stories from weeks ago. Also, welcome all the new writers!

@Adwynyth You're Invited piece. Loved it! I would take Halidrell too. *cries*

@alaurin First! Thanks for keeping up with the index! Second! I loved the Skadge solution and Gault still trying to find a way to squeeze some credits out of it was perfect.

@bright_ephemera Wynston+Keeper You're Invited piece. I love their interaction so much and now that I've seen Pacific Rim I imagine Keeper as Wynston's Stacker Pentecost and that's no bad thing.

@Caernos The Easy Job: "Well this isn't where we parked our speeder." got a laugh out of me. The Empty Beginnings piece reminded me of how Sith society probably have a lot of formal or arranged marriages for the sake of continuing the line.

@DarthSillyMonkey Lights! Camera! Get the Hell Out of Here! was so great. I don't know how Drokk'it manages to keep his temper. There's a saint or a Jedi hidden in that man somewhere.

@icecreampants Welcome back! A sweet romance with Temple! A rare creature and this exchange:

“No, normally the people I’m married to have lovely names like Ivana Fawkes and Seemara Mireah. Raina Temple is such a boring name.” He said wandering around seemingly aimless for a few seconds before laying down flat on his stomach. “Then again you happen to have a quality that few others do Temple.”

“What’s that sir?” Raina said reaching into her pack and grabbing a set of macrobinoculars, laying down next to Delgrin, propping up on her elbows and peering through the binoculars.

“You exist.” He said laughing quietly as he pulled his long black rifle from its sheath on his back. Shouldering it he gazed down into the scope.

Perfectly lovely and true to a spy. Then it all went straight to hell! hah! I sense a lot of repercussions in Delgrin's future.

@frauzet Interesting to see how the Corso/Separatist part was a bit different with a real soldier there. Getting close to getting the hell off of Ord. Can't wait to see what happens with Nikeo and Havoc.

@LaxKnight Welcome! I loved this visual:

He waved his hands toward Taz who stood with his hands on his hips in confusion at what he was seeing. The Marine awkwardly tried to mimic his pose, invoking a sigh from the older man. “What’s your name? Not your whole rank and last spiel but your name?” the Scoundrel said.

It does seem difficult to get those military types to act normal doesn't it?

    @Magdalane I love Miriah outsmarting Darmas :)

@marissalf Re:"Empty" You've done well when you end a story with that sentence and I feel sad. Poor Rissia.

@Mirdthestrill Welcome! (Belated sorry!) Bad Timing/Long Ago piece. I love the letter format and the dates made it easy to see that the letters were coming less and less frequently. The end part was heartbreaking. Poor kid.

@septembersphinx Belate welcome! and... OW wow. OW. I loved how each companion reacted differently, perfectly in character and each section tied to the code. Nicely done. but ow.

@SifaSeven Welcome! (I am a broken record of welcomes) Loved the Kaliyo perspective. She seems a lot sharper and more deliberate than I usually see her written. I like it! I also didn't know about that line regarding Imperial rations, lucky Chiss!

@Striges Jurial:"Unpleasant Realizations" That's an interesting observation (as always) it certainly does seem wrong in the context of our society. For Jealousy the Keleth Ur/Revan's mask peanut gallery is awesome. I do feel sorry for Khem, who must think his new master is madder than most.

For your Why are you still here? piece, I agree. I love Risha to pieces but she would not have been allowed to stay on my ship. I'd have felt better about it if I could force her off my ship then additional run ins with Skavak convince me that the only way to get him off my back is if I beat him to the prize. Or something. Argh! Anyway I sympathize with Kirya's exasperation. Good stuff.

@TrystanLaryssa Nicely woven together and makes perfect sense too using a Flashpoint that both sides have. (I might be wrong, I don't actually do most flash points).

@YoshiRaphElan I loved the 4 perspectives I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

    Story

Prompt: Why are you still here? ~850 words

Spoilers: Vague reference to end of JK but no real spoilers. Featuring my JK Remi and Kira

Edit to add timeline: Not long after the end of Chapter 3, following the events of this piece, and before the Grey Years/Remi the Grey.

The small travel case looked odd next to Lord Scourge. Kira returned from a private meeting with the Jedi Council to find the Sith's bags packed and ready next to the door.

"You're leaving?" Her voice rose slightly along with the corners of her mouth. "I can't say it's been fun, or that I'll miss you, but," she paused and wrinkled her brow, "I actually don't know what to say. So good bye."

"Such a speech," he said drily without looking at her. He stared straight ahead ignoring her. If not for the slight rustling of his robes he could have been a statue.

Remi appeared a moment later carrying a datapad. She handed it to him with a mock salute. "Everything you need is in there, they shouldn't give you any trouble."

"No," he agreed, "They should not give me any trouble."

She snorted, "Get going or you'll miss your shuttle. See you in a week."

He nodded at Remi, gave Kira a look that might have been amusement, and exited the ship. Remi watched him disappear into the crowd at Carrick Station.

Kira gripped Remi's sleeve, "You let him go out on his own, unsupervised?"

Remi rolled her eyes. "He's not a pet, Kira, and he hasn't been a child in a long time." She turned on her heel and headed back to her office. "He completed a mission for me successfully. I see no reason not to trust him like I do the rest of you."

Kira followed, her mouth opened and closed soundlessly. "But he's Sith," she finally managed. Remi settled into her chair behind her desk and waved at the seat across from her. Kira shook her head and paced, gesturing at the exit where the Sith had recently stood. "All he does is hang around the ship looking dark and creepy. The only good thing about him is that Doc won't bring his one-nighters back to the ship after the dancer incident. You're the only person he even talks to and when he does it's usually an insult. His vision's done, we don't need him anymore," she trailed off in bewilderment, "Remi, I have to ask, why is he still here?"

"I have a better question," Remi tilted her head. "Why are you still here?"

Kira backed up a step and looked around, "Me?"

"You." Remi agreed. "Master Satele wanted me to talk to you. You've been offered your own ship, you declined. Why?" She folded her hands and stared up at Kira.

"I... I don't-" she lifted her chin, "You need me. "

"The Jedi are spread thin, can we afford to have the two of us on every problem?" Remi asked.

"That's just it," Kira said waving her hands expressively. "The Jedi are spread too thin, look at how many we lost on Corellia before you showed up, look at how few we had even before that. If we send out Jedi one by one, eventually the Council will throw us at something we can't beat, even you, and-" She paused, "Especially me." She sighed and collapsed into a chair.

Remi looked unsurprised but asked, "What do you mean?"

"They asked me what I want to do and I just don't know. I can't lead like you do, I don't get the same respect for one thing and I'm not much of a tactician anyway. I can do diplomacy but there again I'm too young for most of those senators to take seriously and anyway we're at war." She leaned forward, "If we're together we can take on anything. We can watch each other's backs, and that way if," she dropped her voice to a whisper, "If you-know-who is still out there, you'll still be around."

Remi pursed her lips and sat back in her chair, "So, if I understand you correctly. You want your efforts to have greater purpose. You can achieve greater victories at my side. And you want to make sure that I'll still be around in case I'm needed again."

"Y-" Kira paused, "Are we still talking about me?"

"Aren't we?" Remi asked innocently, but her lips twitched giving her away.

"Ugh!" Kira yelled and jumped to her feet. "I can't believe you're comparing me to him! THIS is why you need me. You need me to make sure he doesn't corrupt your brain." She crossed her arms, "As long as Lord Scourge is staying, I'm staying."

A grin flashed across Remi's face but she nodded, "Very well, I will tell Master Satele that you believe it will be easier to keep an eye on Lord Scourge if there are two Jedi. I'm sure certain members of the Council will agree with you." She turned to the data-terminal on her desk and began typing out a message.

Kira glared at her former master, "It's true too." When Remi offered no further comment she stomped out of the office still grumbling. "How could you even think I'm anything like him."

"Channel your rage!" Remi called and was rewarded with an inarticulate yell.

  8. Wow, your drawings left me breathless. You took two fun things to do (playing Swtor and drawing) and put them into one, very nice. Keep on drawing :)

    Thanks!

I tried out Sculptris to make some 3d headshots.

Remi was my first attempt, I had not figured out how I would do pupils. So more like a chiss version of Remi I guess :)

  9. About a week's worth of comments. Sorry if I missed anybody.

@DarthSillyMonkey I love that Tatooine quest, your take on it adds extra thought to it. (I'm ashamed to say that if I'm tired and overleveled for Tatooine I punch Grommick in the face :].) Your Drokk'it having an actual good reason for giving Skadge a chance is terrible. I prefer to believe that it's impossible to have a good reason. Argh. Stop that. (The story was awesome).

@Phyreblade Welcome to the thread! A very painful start for your smuggler. I enjoyed the What else do they call you? piece. The biggest SW mystery: What is Pierce's first name.

@Lesaberisa Veresia/Altered States piece. Love the Khem facepalm.

@Striges My love for philosophical debates is intensified when it's between Revan's mask and Keleth Ur's holocron. Khem Val at the end... hahahaha, perfect.

@YoshiRaphElan Yay for finding Vik. Yay. Also, Vik got the drop on Torian, I am impressed. Love the Why Are You Here piece, I'm with Gault, it's 'bout time. And eeeeewwwww noooo not Thana! :D

@Adwynyth Hahah, perfect Ashara piece. Spoiled clownfish. My new nickname for her forever.

@frauzet The first time I played through Trooper I was equally surprised that Jorgan stops being a jerk.

@Magdalane Aww early Corso and Miriah.

@bright_ephemera Your Pierce is just so great. He knows exactly how much to say and when to back down. The Jaesa piece made me very sad but I saw it coming, they had to go their separate ways when Ruth became dark!Ruth, I'm glad you wrote the follow up. The idea of slightly plumper yet still happy Jaesa with twin children running a lightside Sith academy is my happy thought.

I enjoyed the introspective Wynston, I often wonder if he really thought about where the blame lay with the events of chapter 2 and what his take on it was. I wonder what it means if you can make your own mind (his hallucination after all) speechless.

@marissalf D: Poor Ellis! Also love the Sanju piece, he made me wonder what he saw in the Empire. He seemed so sweet.

@alaurin Kat on a rampage! I feel bad for Jorgan though, he really does hate being helpless. And yes! Thank you for the index, it is very helpful for me especially now that I fall so far behind in stories sometimes.

@elliotcat That's a neat possibility. I could see Quinn trying to manipulate events in his favor like that.

  10. Spoilery lore question for Jedi Knight players:

How do you interpret the duration and extent of the brainwashing between Acts 2 and 3? Is it entirely training and meditation on the Emperor's station, or do you read it as also going out into the field as a servant of the Emperor? The game only gives on-station footage, but if you're enslaved for any significant period of time he must put you to some use. Thoughts? Is this something worth opening to the Story and Lore or Spoilers forum?

    Spoilery answers

You know my take on it from RtG. Remi was a Sith for a long time and caused a lot of damage that the Council later covered up and she went around apologizing for personally.

Lore elements that I feel support this:

    1. Orgus saying you did terrible things and that you've been a pawn for a long time. You ask him days or weeks but he doesn't know. Agree with theStirge that droids probably don't count as terrible.
    2. Satele Shan saying "It's been so long. We thought you were lost forever." Probably at least several weeks.
    3. Overseer Chaskar implies that you were already tested in combat and that interrogation is next. Stuff like the trials on Korriban might apply. Hunting down a beast offworld, as well as interrogation stuff that Tremel rushes the Sith Warrior through.

    Other date helpers:

According to the swtor Encyclopedia, the game begins the same year that the war begins. Since open war starts in chapter 3 and you are captured in chapter 2 it seems you can be missing for no longer than a year.

Not really time related but Jomar is running around trying to prove you fell to the dark side. If he's finding evidence of that (other than what Liha plants to lure him to the station) then it stands to reason you do things other than kill droids. It is strange that the other Jedi were sent out to do things while the JK was still being tested. It might have been that he had a special plan for the JK since he hated the JK so much.

  11. I'm so out of practice writing, but I want to comment before I fall behind again.

@bright_ephemera I am enjoying Calline's and Torian's interactions. It feels very much like him. I like the additions of Calline's slight accent, you touched on that before with the Gault piece I think. I wish there had been at least one NPC that spoke a bit of cheunh. That fight scene! Great descriptions, I really felt like I could see each part.

@marissalf Eee Vision in Red! Lying to Kaliyo to get some time away with Vector? Perfect. I'm glad you liked the picture.

@elliotcat I love the extra back story you gave to Skotia. As always, your Zash is wonderful.

@sthrift ahh! It's coming together! I can't wait to see what made Vik so happy.

@alaurin I'm glad this diverged from hot and fuzzy with Bowdaar. Yay warm fuzzies!

  12. Togruta forever! :D

I wonder how many of Wynston's one-night stands (or, okay, max 2-week involvements) you've drawn? We've got Fixer 34, Liira Vodd, Ruth...Hazard is slightly longer term, and Quinn and Larr Gith never actually happened, insinuations notwithstanding. In conclusion, yay, you spoil me with pictures!

    I've been drawing Wynston's one-night stands...

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    NO REGRETS!

  13. Poking my head in for a sec...

Saw that a bunch of y'all are having cool conversations on tumblr. I kind of want to give it another shot! PM me your tumblr names? :3

I'm gonna write something later tonight, hopefully!

Looking forward to more stories from you! On tumblr I am kabeone. (rather unimaginative I know.)

@YoshiRaphElan D: Mako! noooo. *bites nails*

I got the writing bug again. As usual I blame bright_ephemera for this. From my Study in Sith story line which has two pieces so far.

    Prompt: Health

Title: Some Skills Can't Be Learned

Featuring: Quinn and Talos, Spoilers for title and names of companions for the Sith Inquisitor line.

The speeder cab drove us past the city through caves and swaths of nearly untouched jungle. Talos ignored it all in favor of telling me about the people he had met during his service to the Empire. He described a fantastical assortment of alien species including an ancient Dashade.

"It must have been interesting work as the chief medic with a crew of such a wide assortment of species." I remarked, "The Empire rarely sees to the needs of even Togruta or Kaleesh, a Dashade must have been quite a challenge." I thought back to the distasteful crash course I had taken in Talz anatomy.

"Actually, Darth Occulus saw to the care of her apprentices, and I was quite familiar with the anatomy of the Dashade, I did my final year dissertation on Force-consumption of non-Force wielding entities at the Academy." He smiled proudly at first then his cheeks flushed with embarrassment, "It was all for the best I suppose, the one time I prescribed a new diet to Darth Occulus's apprentice, she had the flux for days. I thought her previous one was a bit too high in protein."

"Togruta are carnivores, Talos." I pointed out.

"Well yes, I know that now. But it was hardly something I would have found useful in the Reclamation Service and how was I to know? Give me a single tooth or bone and I could have told you what she ate twenty years ago but all of them were still in her body. Covered in tissue, no less, I prefer not to work with tissue."

    "It's in the medical database."

He waved his hand dismissing the entire Imperial medical database as irrelevant. "It was just as well and I was very apologetic. Lord Zavros forgave me when I explained that I was far more suited to dealing with remains. I'm just glad that was sorted before we acquired Xalek, I doubt he'd have been as forgiving." His smile was untroubled as his eyes stared far away, he obviously remembered them fondly.

How someone like Talos managed to survive on a ship with no less than three Sith, an actual pirate, and a monster remains a mystery to me.

  14. @frauzet Great back and forth between Rufuro and Ciner. A very sithy encounter, provoking a fight to test someone then excpecting them to help you. It reminds me of a SW who followed my SI around Korriban trying to duel me. Then I pulled out my HK and he went away :D.

@Kitar Talos with a snowball, so adorable! and protesting Captain, *malicious laughter*

    @YoshiRaphElan Poor Ylenia.

@alaurin The BlasTech catalog part was super funny, but I would argue that Corso would find it a turn on ;)

    @bright

Some evenings went more smoothly than others. From a certain point of view, a steady stream of rejections could be said to go smoothly. They all went in the same direction, anyway.

This was a wonderful bit, trust Wynston's resilience to think of things that way.

Liira Vodd sounds dangerous and makes me wish we could roll Togruta.

  15. @theStirge I enjoy in-character debates about the structure of the Republic/Empire and their faults. Any kind of analysis of either of the two obviously flawed system is wonderful to me.

As an aside, some people's characters I have no trouble imagining the actors speaking their lines(Wynston, for instance, sounds just like Bertie Carvel in my head), and others I just can't(Ruth, Remi, any lady smuggler). Wrongly or not, I absolutely hear Kari Wahlgren and Jo Wyatt(I still haven't managed to finish Dragon Age II because I keep restarting to take all the different responses with f!Hawke. If I ever win the lottery I'm going to hire Jo Wyatt to call me on the telephone every day and talk to me as snarky Hawke) when Zel and El speak. Is that weird? Normal? How about the rest of you, do you hear your characters with the game voices or something else?

I do this too, some characters sound like their voices in my head, others do not. I have trouble with Ruth sounding like SW but that may be because Nalenne sounds like the SW in my head and she just occupies that spot.

The closest Remi comes to sounding like the fem!JK is some of the JK's few snarky or sarcastic lines. Otherwise it's a little different.
