  1. This.

Now that they've introduced a mechanic to disable it for the people that don't want it, it really should become a permanent thing.

While this would be nice, I feel they will not do this for one reason. Financially it is not logical.

If they do these limited time 12x exp deals during slow times like now when they have zero new content for us they can pad their numbers and get rid of the deal around the time they drop something as with most MMOs subs jump during new content release as well if it is a purchasable thing like SoR.

This is just an opinion I have on it, though i think it would be nice to get it permanently.

  2. nope

Would have to be serious design changes for a new game to pass the smell test

Things I will NEVER AGAIN allow to be missing from a future subscription MMORPG I play (not a complete list but some pretty standard generic ones)

    1) SUPPORTED RP SERVER complete with ENFORCED Naming rules(characters and guilds), general chat moderation (the trolls in SW:TOR on the general channels of RP servers are worst I seen in 24 years of this genre running)

    2) Beta test where the beta testers feed back was valued and desired

    3) Level/XP curve that requires people people to invest in game to hit max level (Sw:tor could be maxed in 2 weeks at release and that was part of the big issues affecting it)

    4) Combat difficulty at least at the normal setting (or higher) of a standard single player game (SW:TOR outside of ops is ultra ultra ultra easy mode for difficulty setting)

    5) Dedicated Developers and employees more interested in putting out a great product and launch then being at home for dinner every night by 4pm. (speaking Launch week here specifically)

*there is much more but SW:TOR was the final straw for me on many of these things. F2P MMO, fine, not paying anything so have no expectations. But B2P or Subscription and its time for the company to serve me, not the other way around.*

I could not agree more, I feel one of the big downfalls of MMO games today is the lack of community and outrageous amount of trolls in said communities.

I am not sure when you started playing, but for myself I still remember the day I Ever Quest and loaded it on, back when gaming communities were good and the standard of policing trolls and downright a**holes was naming and shaming these people so no body would play with them, effectively removing them from the game

And I too miss the good RP servers that stopped people from doing dumb names, or maybe people just cared more back then and didn't name their character HandSolo...................

  3. Agree, and without the mighty Unlock requirements to boot ....

I wouldn't mind the unlock requirements as much for the deck and rooms would do something more useful than most of the other decks we already have.

I would however not mind if the get a few of them unlocked for free to start, say part one of a three or four part deck. Having the bigger/officer rooms on the outside with the windows and smaller more compact room on the inside for the lower ranked guild members without the windows.

I do feel it would be more worthwhile to unlock these areas like I said before, over say the useless crew deck we currently have.

  4. So one of the things I miss most about games like Star Wars Galaxies was how a guild was like a family and you would build a town and everyone would populate it with personal homes and shops.

While I was walking through my empty guild ship today i started thinking about how nice of an idea these ships were that they could add as many levels to them as they like, due to the elevator system. Making me think of a busy little place a guild could call home.

I would like to see them add a new "crew level" consisting of hallways and different size rooms that can be assigned to members of your guild and even allies or friends you don't mind having around. These rooms could then be decorated by the member owning them and allow everyone to live together. There would be rooms from small, medium, and large. This would help keep the guild ranking system a reality as to let officers and such to have bigger rooms than standard members in a guild, could also act as a reward for the more active players in the guild who may not want a leading role.

This is just an idea I was thinking about to try and bring a true '"family" aspect to guild in this game, something that I feel is missing from most games. So please let me know what you guys think about this idea or any other ideas you would like to see in the guild ships are stronghold system.

  5. Great post friend. I too am happy too see some positive posts, though I would not go as far as calling the best game I have played it is up there for sure in my eyes. There are several thing this game does to set itself apart from games like WoW that make it much more enjoyable, not even including the fact it is Star Wars themed. One of the big things that come to mind if how they set up the rep system so that when you max you still benefit from rep by selling the item gaining you more money, makes it feel like you are not loosing something when doing the dailies after you cap.
  6. So he's not augmented. I don't care what people say, augments ARE IMPORTANT, and virtually necessary in HM ops. You out DPS'd him probably for the following few reasons:

    A) You have the better rotation (not sure though)

    B) You have overall better gear, and are fully aug'd (I assume)

    C) You got lucky

Yes that is one thing I forgot to note I was in 186 Augments and he had full 178's

  7. 190 Ziost gear is on average better than 186 Basic gear (in many cases neither is particularly well optimized), so I'm not really sure what you are looking at.

Also "destroyed by a bit" does not make a lot sense as a concept. What stats did you compare? Just main stat and endurance? Were you both the same AC?

Yes same AC and spec that is what made me notice it, while I don't remember exact numbers I noticed most of the stats being higher. What made me look at his gear was the fact that he had 43k health while I was sitting at 51k health

  8. Rested xp is disabled during double xp events. You may have been thinking of that. When double xp is running ALL sources of xp (kills, missions, exploration, etc.) are boosted to double, but they disable the boost from rest xp rather than letting it stack with the more general boost. Those who are used to having rested xp active will see no difference in xp from kills.

I do think you are correct on this actually as 12x should not effect mob kills like 2x would, makes more sense.

  9. That makes total sense. I have never paid any attention to it (clearly), and with 12xXP, I find that I breeze so quickly through levels it's hard to see anything except that actual numbers of rested XP leftover.

Also with 12x XP I am pretty sure you gain rested EXP but it is not used. So you will gain it until 55 when the 12x goes away then you will start using the rested.

  10. Speaking of using strongholds to get to ship quickly, I discovered an entertaining bug the other day.

I don't have priority transport: personal starship, so I don't know how it works, but my suspicion is that it works like any other ability. You click it, and it counts as activating an ability and thus would drop you out of stealth, if you were in stealth.

However, with with the strongholds, we now have a completely out-of-game way of getting to our starships. The "leave area" UI that comes up doesn't count as activating an ability or clicking a shuttle door, or clicking the priority transport console on the fleet or any in-game mechanic that drops you out of stealth.

If you're in stealth, and in your stronghold, and you use the 'Leave Area' quickmenu, all your companions on your ship will be in stealth mode when you arrive.

    Hilarious.

Maybe they are just staging a coup? Have you been mean to them :p

  11. My abilities tend to fill 3 and a half regular bars. A full set of legacy abilties, plus heroic moment, unity and sacrifice basically fills the 5th

The 6th is taken up by odds and ends like social ability, rocket boots, the holohutt, etc. If the OP has legacy travel and priority travel unlocks for things like starship, Czerka, Section X, etc etc, those can take up a lot of space. There's 9 unlockable legacy travel perks, which is almost a bar in of itself.

Personally, I never unlocked those, and now that we have strongholds I see even less reason to unlock them. Stronghold -> Fleet -> Priority Travel Console is not really that much of a chore.

While I do agree with stronghold then fleet, sometimes it is nice to just jump to CZ or something really fast without several load screen, Though I do have a good computer that runs flawlessly on ultra and has rather low load times it allows me to get more done in a short period of time.

They should make it a one use ability that you can choose where you would like to go as in how you leave your stronghold or most instances.

  12. I use 4 Quickbars on average. I have Fleet and Quicktravel out. The rest is abilities, relics, adrenals, and medkits/WZ Adrenals.

What else are you putting on these Quickbars? I don't think I have enough abilities on even my Shadow to take up more than 6 quickbars.

I have all 9 Legacy Priority Transports, All 8 Legacy Abilities and Heroic Moment, 3 Cells for the Commando, Quick Travel, Fleet, Mount, Sprint (as sometimes I kick it off by accident), Regen Item, Buff, Med pack, stim, adrenal, PVP Med/adrenal, rocket boost, Throw HuttBall, Revan and Satele/Malgus statues and my Legacy mail. Then I have 3 bars of just abilities.

I would like to add a few other items just so I wouldn't have to dig around for them, like seeker droids and microbinos as they are not always usable with questlog on HUD

  13. So do you guys use Legacy travels and such? If so do you open the abilities pane every time to use them?

Thanks for the responses also. I have been wondering for a few months now if I was the only one with quick bar issues.

I also don't know if the matters but I am a Healer Spec Commando so my hot keys are setup to heal and damage without changing anything as I solo stuff a lot and have to DPS while healing my tank companion.

  14. I was wondering if I was the only one with this issue.

While I do not use all my quick slots with key bindings it is nice to have all my legacy quick travels and heroic moments easy to to see and use at the push of a button. I also like to have my stims ect. out for fast use along with most everyone else.

I personally have all 6 quick bars full and have at least another 1 or 2 quick bars of things I would like to have readily available for use. With them adding more and more legacy use features like quick travels I would like to see another 1 or 2 bars added for us to use.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

  15. Honestly with 12x I would watch all of them if you can. They are all great in there own right. If I had to choose one it would Imperial Agent if you wanted to stay with the Sith side, however if you plan to switch it up on Republic side I would have to say the Jedi Knight is a great choice if you are into the KotoR games and if you like a paramilitary theme the Troop is great as well. The Smuggler is a fun an funny trip especially if you like the Han Solo feel for dialog. Like I said above they are all pretty great.
  16. I think I said this before in another thread about the these teleport hackers but they should make chests locked. You get keys from quests and dailies. They can add a low chance of getting rare/cartel items and have the items different for each planet. They could also add the option to trade a bunch of keys in for 1 master key that could open a special chest on each planet. Maybe have a boss fight to open this chest or some other mechanic. Maybe instead add a new little instance some place where you can use the master key to play a mini game. Where the goal is to open as many chests as you can find in the time period while also dealing with obstacles. You get rewards after the time runs out based on how you did.

That is just a few ideas but there is really tons of stuff they can do. Doing something like this would own those teleport hackers while also providing something nice/fun for actual players.

I do like this idea, more of a reward for playing the game.

However if you stop them from doing chests they will but move onto resource nodes assuming they can bot/port for them just as easy as the chests.
