  1. We wanted to avoid having just a bunch of different "boost" options at character create, especially to have clear starting points for new and returning players.

Sigh. What you want to avoid is what I would consider the best quality of life improvement we could get shy of a hood toggle. My dream is having a skip option for each expansion that gives a menu of major choices. (KotFE/ET should get options to skip individual chapters. Some are quite enjoyable, but others are big roadblocks of tedium.) Since Ossus broke my dark side warrior who made all of the right choices to keep Koth and Arcann alive, I know you don't have the ability to pull this off. But I wish you could!

  2. The part that's hard for me to understand is that you want to be able to do repeatable dailies on different characters to keep things "interesting," but you don't have the same interest in doing the story content on different characters.

I love the early stories and repeat them regularly. The newer stories, not so much. KotFE/ET has some really tedious chapters and most of the newer "story" flashpoints are hideous slogs. The story we have for 7.0 bored me to tears. If I could select individual chapters to skip, and pick the critical choices I want, I would move a lot more alts through the newer stories for the bits I do like. As it stands, out of 58 characters, only one is caught up in the story. However boring I think the new stories have been, I would like to progress the reputation track for decorations. If they added in a 6.0 skip, I would likely buy couple of characters to skip to 7.0, push through the yawn fest and have a few to work on the reputation.

  3. Hey Community!

    Planetary Vanity Gear

The addition of Combat Styles brought along changes to the gear players earn while leveling. With 7.1 we are adding vanity versions of the leveling gear to Planetary Vendors so players can pick and choose the looks for themselves and their companions, regardless of Origin Story or Combat Style.

Last time I was on the PTS there weren't vendors with the leveling gear for Quesh, Ilum or Makeb. Is that intentional? Also missing from vendors were the tank variant styles, only dps styles were on the vendors. Will those get added in at some point?

Most critical - at some point will we be given access to the unique pre- 7.0 starter planet styles that got removed from the game?

  4. Yes, but also we say that pretty much every expansion. iirc the expansion that brought level sync [4.0?] had much gnashing of teeth and lamentations. 5.0 was kotfe/et which I and others deeply disliked. 6.0 ruined endgame crafting. So it's a little tricky to say "we're serious this time!"

What you are really saying is that each expansion is worse than the last, which is pretty accurate imo. 7.0 just said, "hold my beer" and moved the bar so low it will be extremely difficult for 8.0 to lower it further.

  5. That's the epitome of what Dailies are.

When I do dailies, I prefer to take different characters through them on different days instead of doing the same one repeatedly. They are more interesting that way.

I really, really wish Bioware would make a decent skip mechanism. What is in place now is a joke, and we can't even skip directly to 7.0, so I can't even buy a character boost and get him to the new content.

  6. Hey casirabit,

Confirming that players' experience reflected in PTS will be what goes live with 7.1. The dailies will unlock after the crit path is completed, so players will need to complete both.

Well, that's a shame. I only have 1 character to that point and I'm in absolutely no rush to get any others there. Since I don't enjoy doing the same content on the same character over, and over and over again, this pretty much killed what little interest I had in 7.1 Did you all at least fix the item preview bug?

  7. First of all: they don't test new ops, nor does it have a NiM version.

I don't know WHY a player that enjoys story, conquest and guild events is subbed right now. It's cool that you disagree but there won't be new story for some time. Why stay subbed? I don't know anybody that exclusively plays story, you want to know why? They all quit. The people I started with were story enjoyers, all gone. The people I pö

lay woth today raidlog, but at least they log in at all!

While I enjoy collecting, I'm playing for the story, and just the story. I used to pvp, but I drifted away from that, since it isn't nearly as fun as it used to be. I stay subbed so I can readily access my billions of credits and all of my numerous alts. The players that I know that still play are also story players. A few dabble in pvp or group content, but they are here for the story, full stop. The people I used to know who were pvpers and raiders all quit long ago. Just because you and yours don't play for story doesn't mean there aren't subscribers who do.

  8.

    As for season 3?

Don't mind a new companion but really BW, if you cannot be bothered to have the character have changeable outfits then, just don't bother. Not in any way shape or form except your post stating you have to be interictal to the character. There is absolutely no integrity to keep for a made up character that's been made up for the solo purpose of a companion for GS.

I second this! Companions that are locked into one outfit are boring. The "customizations" they added to the vendors were incredibly low effort and not even worth one GS token. If I'm going to spend event currency on a customization, I want it to be noticeably different and not be just a tiny tweak to the original.

  9. While I also found 7.0 ruined the game for me, I think the death knell to story was KotFE/ET. The story was incredibly uneven and extremely trite. (The time jump, sidelining companions, focusing on cartoon villains instead of our characters, ham-fisted retcons, and all-round silly nonsense!) There were bright spots, but too much was a boring slog to make me want to replay it. The story after was no better and suffered from the same deep flaws, and the traitor arc was just disastrous. Ossus went bad in new ways. I hate the way they fractured the story into multiverses. The recent story has been so boring and inconsequential, it's hard to remember what happens from one "beat" to the next. Even capturing Malgus was completely meh.

In sum, the story has been pretty bad for awhile now and getting worse, but I still love and replay the earlier stories. The kick in the teeth is the way 7.0 damaged the non-story parts of the game I enjoy.

I liked conquest the way it was, now it's so painfully slow for solo players, and the rewards are so neutered, there is no point in trying for it on more that a couple of characters a week. Old conquest motivated me to play a daily here, a weekly there because they were rewarding enough that they were worth the boredom to receive a noticeable amount of conquest points. Now? I'm not going to waste my time for a drop in the bucket.

I love collecting thigs. Runaway inflation has made it impossible to get the handful of cartel items I lack on the GTN. End game looting is the most boring in any game I've ever played. 6.0 gear sets are ridiculously had to collect now, and collecting them competes with getting new gear. And to add insult to injury there was a whopping one new style added, and even that can't be dyed. (I am looking forward to the planetary gear vendors in 7.1, but they didn't add in the old starter planet sets which were what players were actually asking for. They forgot about Quesh, and they left off the tank variant sets. Once again a half-assed job that Bioware will consider good enough, but at this point we have to be grateful for any crumbs tossed our way.)

I like making outfits and documenting gear for Tor-fashion, but they broke the item preview and STILL haven't fixed it! I can't fully zoom in on details or re-position so I can see helmets so I can't take proper screenshots for the website.

  10. The event's been going since December 14th, 2021 as they stated. It's a vendor with all the previous Anniversary items, located on Fleet.

They cycled in a few more items a little while ago, not sure when/if they will add more.

Very few people would consider a static vender being up one year instead of for one month to be an "event". It's a very weird and misleading use of the word.

  11. Personally, I find Kaliyo to be significantly worse. She's nothing but a back-stabbing, sadistic narcist. She shouldn't have left Hutta alive. The ONLY thing she's got going for her is a great voice.

Corso, while not everyone's cup of tea, is sweet. He's just a good ol' country boy like the ones I used to date in college.

  12. I want to see one currency (dropped via in game content as loot that goes right to your currency tab) to exchange at vendors on fleet for all level of gear.

That's about as simplistic as you can get.

The more difficult the content, the more of the currency you get.

The higher level gear you want to purchase, the more expensive it gets.

There should also be craftable equivalents. The top end being 1 tier down from the BIS level.

The vendors should have empty shells, and mods.

NO RNG on which version of the mod you get. You see it on the vendor, that's what you get. No guesswork or praying to the RNG gods.

It should also require the existing item as part of the purchase price.

You want a mod with a rating of 360, from a vendor, it costs x amount of the currency and the version of the mod with a rating of 358.

Only the "base" level gear doesn't have the previous version requirement.

    This works for me.

I liked and miss the non-combat amplifiers. It made looting more interesting, which is something 7.0 gearing severely lacks. Looting is just plain boring now! Too bad they didn't stick with Ossus looting where you could get other gear sets for cosmetics, and decorations. Toss in some rare mounts and pets and I call that perfect!

  13. Would also be awesome if we could get the associated planetary weapons to go with them.

That would be an excellent addition!

For some odd reason they didn't add in the Quesh, Ilum or Makeb sets. Also planets that have different skins for tanks and dps only have one, not both, available. Some great sets are being left out!

PS. Any word on when we can expect a fix for the item preview window? I'm really tired of not being able to drag my character around to view details. It really hurts my ability to put together outfits, which for me, is probably the best aspect of the game.

  14. I'm going to start out by saying how much I love having the leveling sets available as lvl 1 legacy sets! Thank you so much! The only thing that could have been better would be having them in collections :o

However, the sets that we were specifically asking for are the pre 7.0 starter planet sets. Those were unique and are no longer available anywhere. I'm begging you, please, please, please, add those sets to the starter planet vendors along side the 7.0 starter planet sets! I am most keen to have access to the Apprentice Force-Lord's MK1, Apprentice Pummeler's MK-2, , Cunning Targeter's MK-1, Cunning Targeter's MK-1 for the goggles!

Also, the Tythian Knight's set on the PTS vendor is a recolor of Noble Decurion armor (except the bracers which are correct) and not the Tythian Knight's set that is in the game. I love that it can be dyed since Decurion armor doesn't have a dye slot. (Why or why can't we dye Decurion armor?)

  15. You might want to edit the 10 year anniversary description. It looks ridiculous in the face of reality. It should read more along the lines of "To celebrate our 10 year anniversary we have added a few new decorations to the anniversary vendor which will be available the whole year."
  16. I don't have a trooper or bounty hunter that go past the class stories.

Go for it and tell us how it feels XD

Ditto. Out of all of my many, many alts, only a handful have even started KotFE. I have one knight who is caught up to LotS. One cameo appearance of Theron in the background on a character who romanced him was far from satisfactory. If they would put more and better relationships in the newer content, I'd be more interested in playing it...

  17. What has been irritating me recently is the giant warning plastered over the outfit designer every time I try to browse outfits. I KNOW I don't have a weapon equipped. I understand I won't be able to see weapon stamps if I don't have a weapon equipped. I don't have any weapons stamped, so really, it's not an issue! Isn't the warning in the empty weapon slot enough? Did they really need to stick a big, slow fading warning right over the outfits I'm trying to look at? If there is an option to turn that off, I'd be grateful if anyone can tell me where.

(Though it is rather amusing that there is now always a red hand over my character's crotch. Really well thought-out design there  )

  18. Because that's the point of MMO. To play with other players. If you wanted to do everything solo and be a one man wrecking crew, then hop on the train back to Mass Effect, Dragon age, or the Witcher. This game, like all the other MMO's, had group play as the focus. Otherwise, you wouldn't hear people talking about ff14 so much.

Again, your knowledge of MMOs seems very shallow. The point of MMOs is to spend time in a persistent world that other people share. Group play has always ever been just one of many things players can do in MMOs. Hanging out on fleet to chat and RP is more quintessentially the spirit of MMOs than group content. (When I hear people talking about FFXIV it usually has to do with how solo friendly it is...)

  19. Uh... Yes it is. It's in the name. Massive Multiplayer Online. The game is meant to be played with group content in mind.

Sorry, but Multiplayer has always meant exactly that: lots of players. It has never mattered what they happen to be doing. The MMO umbrella is vast and covers a whole lot of diversity.

  20. So last night I finally got around to finishing the story content that came with 7.0. (Once I hit 80 mid-Manaan I had trouble getting up the enthusiasm to finish it for months.) While I finished that bit of content I was thinking about why, as a story loving player who replays the old stories constantly, I wasn't interested in LotS enough to finish on even one character.

The whole story on Manaan felt like a drawn out side-quest. It simply wasn't main story worthy. Maybe it will prove important later? I would have preferred it if the Selkath had been speaking Selkatha, her basic was jarring (I know a lot of people hate reading subtitles, so I will give the developers a pass on that.) The story in Ruins of Nul was short yes, but it also felt bland. It didn't help that I couldn't really remember what led up to it.

Capturing Malgus in story mode was very anti-climactic

I just don't think flashpoints are a good medium for the main story.

The cutscenes clocked in at around 45 minutes. Of those 45 minutes a significant amount of time was spent watching our character walk around, sometimes just standing there looking at things. I'm sure the reason was for a "more cinematic experience", but it just came across as filler to me (and I expect they wanted a cheap way to drag out the cutscenes knowing people would time them.) Then, when there were actual conversation scenes, there were very, very few choices for the player to make. For an "interactive story" there was hardly any actual interaction.

And finally, I just don't care about Arn or Tau. It was not enjoyable spending so much time with the wooden angsty twins and having flirt options with them is just a cruel reminder of all the loves we've lost. (Arn is just eww! He needs a pass from a better artist so it doesn't look like his hair was cut out of a magazine and pasted on.) Lana was fine, but I really, really missed Theron.
