  1. I don't THINK Bioware would empty a server if they didn't have the intention to close it or merge it with other servers. I transferred to another server immediately so I could keep my names (And I got to keep about 50% of them, so cool.)

But even if we don't know what's going to happen, they wouldn't kill the population on a server if they didn't have the intention to eventually get rid of the server.

Of course, that's my opinion, but it seems logical to me.

  2. This thread is interesting for a couple reasons.

1: If you on the pts, using the LFG tool why would you want to watch the VO? you came on the pts to test how well the VO works? no, you came on to test the lfg tool and maybe to try for the titles, so why would you want to watch the VO given how limited the time window is/was to get them.

2: Alot of ppl are saying "let them enjoy there game", well how about my game experience and that of the rest of the group? is your enjoyment more important? no, if the majority of the group want to skip the VO you are just being selfish by watching it and holding people up.

Sorry if that offends you people but the truth is rarely kind.

Can you tell me who you are and on what server so I can put you on ignore?

  3. Oh. I'd also define 'pay to win' this way.

Let's say you're running around in-game and you have an energy meter that keeps ticking down. If you rest, it starts going back up. But you can go ahead and purchase extra bottles of energy so you can keep playing forever and never have to rest.

Essentially, you CAN play as long as you want if you rest. This method is used in a lot of Facebook games, like Oregon Trail. You can only go so far before you run out of stamina, and then you have to wait for your energy meter to tick upward again before you can move forward. OR! You can buy facebook credits and just keep right on going for as long as your little heart – and wallet – holds out.

That has nothing to do with other player interactions, but you really can't win if you don't sink more money into the game. Because let's face it. If you can't play WHEN you want to play for as LONG as you want to play, is that really enjoying the game? Are you going to keep playing it without paying? 'If you want to know the conclusion of your class quest, insert $20! If you want to access the next planet, cough up $30!

  4. While I prefer a cash shop that doesn't provide ANY items that physically aid a player, if the content of the shop is mostly cosmetic with a few stat-boosting items thrown in, that's okay.

I think a true pay-to-win model is a cash shop where everything is stat-boosting in varying degrees and it appears that the maker of the game expects people to purchase the items in order to advance, while creating the illusion that you can also advance in-game. For example, you can earn Dubloons in-game to purchase special content, but you can only get one a day! ...whereas you can purchase 10,000 Dubloons all at once in the cash shop and use them buy all the super top-notch material in the game.

It would be like EA offering ranked Warzone commendations for cash... If you put months in on-game, you can earn all the armor through play. But you'll have a hard time competing against all the people who shelled out $80 and just bought the armor without ever having played.

This model actually penalizes people who can't or don't want to throw more money into the game, and if you don't buy what they're selling, you're months behind everyone who DOES purchase stuff. Essentially, the people who pay are enabled to win with little or no effort.

  5. I agree with not letting unsubscribers post. From the time they decide to unsub, all they do it post on t he forum about how they are holding their account for ransom until the thing they want fixed is fixed. Whining.

In my opinion, people who unsub should also lose all their characters. Maybe then, they'd learn to be patient instead of throwing little toddler temper tantrums on the forum whenever they don't get their way. Because I am seriously sick of hearing 'Wah wah wah, I'm unsubbing because Bioware didn't get ranked warzones out on my schedule!'

  6. In addition, there was never a number put on this content update. It was never stated 'hey, this is 1.4 gize!' it could very well be 2.0, and then it WOULD make it the droid... er, expansion... you're looking for.

I don't see how you don't get this.

  7. It's not about announcing something. It's about announcing some HUGE like a new expansion altogether.

Clearly you have never been to an expansion announcement in any other MMO before.

This IS a massive update. This is HUGE. New level cap, MASSIVE amount of added story, new race... What does it matter if they call it 'expansion'? To me, it seems like adding a planet with enough content to keep me busy the same amount of time it would take me to play through, say, Ocarina of Time is a LOT more than they're offering in World of Pandacraft.

Just because they don't do everything the way WoW does doesn't mean it isn't the same thing wrapped in different clothing. If you call a rose an arsemasterbud, it's still a rose.

  8. No, I understand.

But if your issue is 'Bioware needs to announce something to keep people interested...'

They've already done that. It doesn't matter if it's called an 'expansion' or 'Content update' or 'Your Mom.' So your argument is invalid.

BW is not going to announce everything they have coming all at once.

EDIT: and if we're arguing against WoW here, then how many times has WoW added a new area with enough playtime to fill the playtime of an entire game or a new race outside of an Expansion Pack?

  9. The amount of stuff offered in this so called 'content patch' of yours is pretty significant.

Sorry, OP, you have no leg to stand on in this argument. Stuff was announced already. You just missed it, so you're covering up your embarrassment.
